3.5 short, sweet, and slightly smutty stars

Katie and Fisher have been best friends for years. It’s been six months since her last breakup, and Katie’s having a hard time getting over one sentence her ex told her: that she’s weird in bed 😐.

Fisher has been wanting Katie for a while now, but she’s always dating someone and he’s afraid of ruining their friendship. When she confesses this insecurity she has he not only asks her to be his date for a work event, but he volunteers are tribute 👀.

Except she doesn’t think he’s serious 😅

Or… is he? 👀

This was a cute short story. I wish it was longer 😭.

It had the right amount of 🔥 for being short (plus. The accompanying MFM books have PLENTY of 🔥 in them, so it’s a nice balance 🤣)

SPOILERS:
The “weird” thing wasn’t really weird? Because she liked to be loud and wants dirty talk? She never explicitly states what it is, but it’s implied. I don’t know why I expected some unconventional kiiiinks 🤣

Overall, I enjoyed it ❤️

Katie and Fisher were the best of friends but one comment leads Katie down a road she just might not be able to come back from...

Is she weird in bed for craving something as simple as a bit of dirty talk? I think not. If she is girl, I am right there with you. Tell me all the wicked things you want to do to me as you are doing something else entirely wicked.

Fisher was curious all on his own and not to mention the fact that he had been half in love with Katie for a while now, this seemed like a no brainer. Satiate his curiosity and get between the sheets with her. What could go wrong?

This was a fun little story in the My Hockey Romance series. I feel like Lauren Blakely could have really run with their story so I was bummed it was so short, but I did really enjoy it.

she’s just like so weird

Her ex dumped her because she liked dirty talk. The smut was minimal and the dirty talk that took place between best friends was honestly sub par. Personally, I didn’t think the characters had any chemistry and it was kinda boring and predictable. I typically like a novella to be at least 60% smut and this was only about the last like 5 pages. Not my cup of tea but maybe I’m just weird 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

I love a good friends to lovers, and this short and sweet novella was great. Easy to like characters, easy to read and a little bit of sexy time but nothing over the top. I enjoyed this and it's definitely made me curious about the series. Would recommend.

This was a cute friends to lovers novella. I haven't read the full series but I do have parts of it an audiobook so there's something to look forward to.

Fisher and Katie were cute as friends but they seem like they'll be just fine as a couple. Fisher needs her to show up to a work thing for him and she is trying to get out of her head about something her ex said about her. They end up trading favors and falling into each other. It was cute.

This is a really cute, very short, story about Katie and Fisher and how they go from friends to lovers. Katie is Ivy (from Puck Yes) and Ryker's (from Double Pucked) sister and she moves home to San Francisco after a breakup and decides to make a move on her best friend (who has the same thought). Fisher plays for the Golden State Foxes.

I need a chart or something to visualize how all these characters are related because everyone is either siblings, best friends, rivals, or teammates.

This is VERY SHORT. Like 20% of the ebook is excerpts in the end for the author's other books. So please know that this is 8 short chapters and very little buildup of these characters.

So. Reviewing this story for what we were given, it felt very cheesy. There were some lines that gave me major secondhand embarrassment for these characters. The spice felt a little lackluster.

But also keep in mind this isn't meant to be anything major or substantial. Just a cute little holiday special.

If you're looking for a hockey romance, which is what you'd expect from the title and cover, no hockey takes place, the male love interest is never described on the ice and he's barely described physically as well.

Its only a 52 page novella, however the smut only occurs in the last 5 pages, so again, if you're looking for smut, this isn't it either. The smut was also very basic.

The flirting/lines the characters said were super cringey and not in a lovey dovey way but more what you'd expect a teenager to say.

Unfortunately not for me, however I will say that the book flowed well and did what it needed for only 50 pages.

One night she opens up to her long time best friend Fisher about it, and he offers to “giver her lessons”. They both play it off as a joke at first, but then realize that maybe they’ve been hiding these deeper feelings for a while.

i feel like i shouldn’t even count this toward my book goal for the year it feels like cheating..

i was so excited for this book and it was literally 52 pages… i’m actually so disappointed bc this could’ve been the cutest book. also how i didn’t realize it was only 52 pages when i downloaded it is beyond me. high school best friends to lovers???? 😮‍💨

I really enjoyed this short story. Fisher and Katie are best friends who attend gatherings with each other. Fisher needed someone to go to a charity event with him, so of course Katie went with him. However, this one happened to be around Christmas, and they just happened to be the two sitting under the mistletoe. So they ended up kissing for charity. It made them both realize they liked each other more than just friends. I really hope to see more of both of them.

I thought the story itself was cute, but the delivery seemed a little juvenile. I struggled with the prose having to read and reread several paragraphs. If you're looking for a friends to lovers, hockey romance to read between books or to just pass the time, this one is okay.
