Mid-Thirties Slightly Hot Mess Female Seeking Billionaire

Rate this book
To Whom it May Concern,

This is a long shot.

I’m seeking a billionaire; I will also settle for a millionaire. Sorry, I’m not interested in any salesmen looking to sell me a time-share or a part of their animal balloon company (been there, done that).

I am not a gold digger, though you may not believe that. I have references. Ask all my broke exes and my best friends.

To be fair, I am not a glamorous model, actress, or professional dancer. I do, however, take pole dancing lessons (for fun, of course, not dollar bills).

I am an educated (still have the student loans to prove it), open-minded (toy stores are fun, and not for games), fairly cute (when I try), only a little curvy (those last thirty pounds don’t want to leave) single female. I want to be swept off my feet, wined, dined, and bedded in ways that make me forget my name.

I have a job (that I hate), with a boss that makes me want to jump off a cliff. However, my friends make up for the day job. I’m ready for an adventure. And possibly a penthouse with a maid and a design budget.

If interested, please respond before Monday morning so I don’t have to go in to work.

Love,

Sultry Sassy Sarah

* * *

Note to self. Don’t write stupid ads while half drunk and hanging out with immature, obnoxious friends. Certainly, do not post them on the internal company message thread by mistake. Do not freak out when your boss says he wants to see you in the office first thing Monday morning. And please never make a joke, asking how many dollar bills he has to make it rain, ever again.

I’m dead meat.

Gross

I am absolutely sick and tired of authors writing plus-sized characters that hate themselves and long for a make over. Its disgusting. This book could have been so good had the MFC just embraced herself as who she was and rocked it like the bad@ss she could have been. But noooo. Will authors ever stop ruining relatable characters this way?

47% DNF Honestly, I should have called it quits on this book way sooner. I don’t understand how at the time of writing this there are 576 ratings and this book has 4 stars. Were people getting paid to rate this? The author bribed their TikTok and Facebook following? Can someone please explain how it is so highly rated.

Anyway, I got 47% of the way through it and that was with a lot of skimming. The characters are flat. The girl is plus size and basically hates herself. The guy pretty much only likes one person in this world. And they both share every single thought that is running through their heads. I’m guessing it’s supposed to endear them to the reader, but both characters are just so lifeless and dumb. If possible, I’d give this zero stars.

This book has a “hot mess” group of girlfriends that get up to no good when together. Be prepared for lots of silly banter and shenanigans.

Sarah’s boss is about as opposite from silly as you can get but Sarah gets his attention by being her unusual self. The slow burn is Ethan being the no-fraternization boss. It’s entertaining to watch him twist himself into a pretzel trying to be with Sarah while not being with her.

I liked the format of the book but thought many of the conversations rambled.

I received a complementary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I can’t stop thinking about this book because of how much I disliked it. I rarely, if ever, give books 1 star but wow.
The way this MC just hates herself and is so self deprecating is ridiculous. She also just “giggles” a shit ton. She never laughs. She GIGGLES. AND SHES ALWAYS FUCKING GIGGLING. She’s also sooo quirky and all she has to do is take down her hair and take off her glasses and she’s this super hot woman. Whereas before she was just so ugly and plain, no one would look at her. Let alone the man she’s in love with but never actually spoken to.
The main love interest is also just a jerk. You can’t even really root for him. He’s obnoxious and sounds like a frat boy but is supposed to be some 30+ successful businessman? The one time he actually does something business related it wasn’t even handled professionally at all.
I honestly don’t know why I finished this book lol it’s like when you know something bad is going to happen but you can’t look away. Or watching a dumpster fire burn. This book read like a man who heard women like to read porn, skimmed one romance book, and decided he’d give it a shot. That’s it. That’s all I’ve got to say now. ✌🏼

Usually when I want to give a book just 1 star, I'm generous enough to give 2 - I dig deep within myself to find that generosity. This time I couldn't.

The title should've warned me but I ignored it. These kinds of titles - long, ridiculous, sometimes have the premise for the whole book in it - make me think of all the badly written stories I've stumbled upon on Wattpad back in the days. Those stories - with plenty of grammatical errors, plot holes and cliches upon cliches - are what made me run from the platform, despite it having a gem or two.

Here, I trusted the author, I gave the benefit of the doubt to the title and the cover because I remember reading a book, maybe even more than one, by J. S. Cooper that I deemed good. This one was not.

I could write in detail what kept pissing me off as I continued to read, how every other scene felt so unrealistic and painfully unfunny that it hurt to keep going but I care about my health and would like to try to keep my heartrate below 200. So I'll just say that by the end, I was ready to slam the book closed (metaphorically, because I read it in epub format) and never read another book by this author unless drunk. I stand by it.

This book was incredibly fun, cute and charming. Ethan and Sarah's romance had me breaking out laughing, cringing in sympathy and falling head over heels or this couple. The banter is sharp, the sparks fiery and the feels huge as this thoroughly enjoyable read takes you on a romantic romp that is as snarky as it is swoony.

DNF @ 54% I skimmed the majority up to this point. His indifference towards the h flips on a dime with no rhyme or reason, really. Once they hook up, he says “That’s so hot” or “You are so fucking hot” about 15 time a la Paris Hilton 🤮🤮🤮 I had to tap out. 1.5*cringe/snorefest*stars!!!!!

Changing His Long Held Title -
Wow. Each book I read from the Honourable J. S. Cooper confirms the reason why she takes her time to publish her books. This book took me on a journey filled with unimaginable pleasures mixed with heartbreak, where Sarah and Ethan battle with their growing feelings for each other after one memorable night, whilst trying to convince themselves their dalliances are just casual interactions.

Unfortunately, Ethan’s insecurities cause him to pull back when it got too real, which caused them to spend time apart. However, he soon realised the heart knew what it wanted and there was nothing he could do but accept the inevitable, so he did everything within his power to convince Sarah to give him another chance. This is a captivating story that you will definitely enjoy reading. This is another fantastic book that deserves to be added to the J. S. Cooper portfolio.

I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I always enjoy reading Jaimie’s books! This was an addictive page turner.
Sarah posted a funny and daring blog.
Her gorgeous billionaire boss Ethan sees her and of course they are attracted to each other. They hook up and wow they have steamy love scenes!
This is a sexy and funny storyline, filled with banter and some angst. Such a fun read and I definitely enjoyed it and recommend it.

Immature in every sense of the word

I’ve gone back and forth about reviewing this book. I feel guilty leaving it such a low score, but I can’t give it anything else. If anything, I now want to give any other book I’ve rated 1 ⭐️ to 2. The writing was EXTREMELY immature and it honestly took everything in me to finish it. The characters were weak. The plot seemed solid in the beginning, but the author would throw in random things to accommodate what the heroine was doing (ie a home goods/lighting company that MAGICALLY was going to start getting into music production when the heroine mentions to the hero she likes to write music and sing, and this didn’t happen just once). Then you have the giggling. Good god. At first I thought it would be fun to make a drinking game of every time the heroine giggled. I would have died. The word giggle is in this book more than 50 times. It made the character extremely immature and the author came across as the same.

I learned my lesson, I will never pick up a book because I think the title is funny. This deserves a razzie award for how bad it was.

The first half of this book was great! Very funny, a little immature, but with a title like that you expect it. Goofy and weird but it was what I didn't know I needed. *Chef's kiss*

However, as soon as they hooked up, things got really cringe 🤢

As I'm reading I'm thinking 'No, no, no, no...don't do this to me...the story was moving along so well!' But alas, it happened.

And after they hooked up it seemed as though I was reading about two completely different characters. All of a sudden our FMC has all this confidence to flirt with 3 men she doesn't know? If it was something that happened over time and she grew within the story that'd be cool, but we're talking over a matter of days she changes.

Maybe I'm being too harsh given the goofiness of the story to begin with, but it was something that stood out - along with the suddenly cringe dialogue while/after sleeping together - and it turned me off of the story.

The writing was a bit obnoxious, and the focus on stereotypical beauty was offensive. I had to stop reading after the MMC didn’t recognize the FMC because she took her glasses off and her boobs were on display. Grotesque, shallow characters and the idea that she wasn’t beautiful because she wasn’t “trying” are not things I can overlook.

The title captured me right away. It is literally me. The book itself was cute. I loved Sarah's character. She was so sassy and captivating. Ethan was just an all around odd vibe for me. It started off as more of a grumpy/sunshine... and then he just turned into super corny sunshine and it felt a little weird. The smutty scenes were a little lack luster. But, overall, I thought the premise of the book was really cute. Accidentally send a dating ad on a work intranet? Definitely something I would do lol

J.S.Cooper is an amazing writer. If you haven't read any of her books yet, you really need to. This one is just as awesome as all of the rest of her books! Yes, I have read all of her books, that is how big of a fan is.

The billionaire doesn't even know she's alive. Why would he, after all, she works at his company as a copy writer, but I guess it's ok that he doesn't know everyone at his company. Sarah is a woman in her thirties, looking for her forever man. No real high expectations, just no balloon animal guys, and maybe someone who has a good job!

Ethan Tossed of Tossed International has taken over the family owned company from his father. As his father took it from his father and almost ran it into the ground. Ethan has managed to bring it back and make it profitable again.

Tossed International has a client that wants a jingle for their campaign. The copy writer is unavailable so when Sarah plain Jane stands up and says she will do it, not only does Ethan get a call and walk away, but his right hand guy Jackson sees her and notices her. I mean really notices her. Everything that is underneath the big glasses and the frumpy clothes and the hair in a tight bun! He sees behind it all. Later, so does Ethan and Ethan makes it very clear that there is a no fratenization policy in place at the company, for himself and f Jackson.

If it's going to happen it will find a way to happen. Sarah a Ethan might have met in a very unique way and much later found themselves together ,naked, albeit for Ethan's five time rule! It might work out and it might not!

You are going to have to go get yourself a copy and read this amazing book. Take your journey with Sarah and Ethan today!

Happy reading.

Spoilers in review:

At 56 percent, I'm annoyed with the FMC. I guess she's supposed to be quirky or goofy but she just comes off as immature or stupid. She even made the sex scene annoying with her "attempt to be sexy." It wasn't cute and endearing. It just made her appear to be 16, trying to act like an experienced adult. It's very hard to believe the MMC would be attracted to her, at this point, given her behavior. And what is with the FMC's wanting to dance on a table? This is the second book in a row I've read by this author where the FMC talks about dancing on a table. It's difficult for any FMC to come back from that, as that is a pretty clear announcement that, "I'm immature and operating with a low IQ."

At 64 percent, I can't help but roll my eyes. For some reason, even though all the context clues scream the MMC isn't asking her out on a date, the FMC mistakes an invitation from him as a date and arrives looking unprofessional. And, of course, it's a business meeting. Low IQ confirmed because nothing about his phone call and invitation said, "this is a date."

At 67 percent, the FMC writes this in her diary: "Why do I love dancing on tables so much? Don’t answer me. Well, it’s not like you can answer me because you’re just a piece of paper with pen written on it, and if you did answer me, I think I’d freak out, but I wish I knew why. I really wish I knew why I love to dance on tables so much." And then, "if I’m being quite honest with myself, I kind of like dancing on tables. Maybe it’s because it makes me feel sexy and free and maybe it’s because every time I dance on a table, something hot happens."

If you need to dance on a table to feel sexy and free, you may need to work on your self-esteem. This obsession with dancing on tables is weird and makes it difficult to take the FMC seriously.

At 83 percent, I just have no words for this:

“Oh, Sarah. Yes,” he says as he clasps my hands to his.
“Me too,” I say loudly, my lips parted as I watch him. I just can’t hold it in anymore.
“You too?” he asks, leaning down and kissing my lips and then my cheek.
“I love you, Ethan. I love you, too. I’m falling for you. Maybe I’ve already fallen for you, but…”

I mean, I could understand her getting caught up in the moment and declaring her love, but "I love you too" when he didn't say it first? It makes zero sense! They are having two different conversations, it seems. What is the deal with this book?

Overall, there is no evidence in this book that this FMC has the emotional maturity of someone in their 30s. The character being immature, combined with one awkward mess after another, kept this book from being enjoyable. Maybe it was supposed to be funny and didn't land? I'm not sure. This book is slightly better than the first in this series, so I will give it 1.75 stars.

I don’t know why on God green earth I thought I’d maybe enjoy this book when at 20% I hated it. I powered thru and it did not get any better. Someone please get this author a thesaurus because all the women did in this book was giggle. ANY OTHER DESCRIPTION OF A LAUGH would have been welcome. And what woman in her mid-30’s writes “Dear Diary” we journal like ADULTS. I image this is what a teenager imagines 30 something relationship is like. It was juvenile. Also, the woman’s friends were absolutely terrible! There’s being honest and there’s being mean and they were down right mean. Who takes their friends glasses who literally cannot see because they “look hot”? How disrespectful to any person. Also, the attempt at witty banter between friends fell flat. If I could go back and never read this book again I’d be happier than I am in this moment writing this review.

Surprisingly delightful

Mid Thirties Slightly Hot Mess Female Seeking Billionaire by J.S. Cooper I’m gonna start by saying was so much more than I was expecting from this title. I gotta say the title did not really reach out and grab me like at all in fact it kinda was almost off putting. I was like wow really you are a hot mess but still a gold digger. I was like I guess the school of hard knocks hasn’t taught you that happiness is not something you buy but something you choose to be. It may not always be an easy choice but it’s a choice. But I was happy to see that once again J. S. Cooper did not disappoint. Her title was an adorable part of one of her and her girlfriend’s antics while actually choosing joy after a hard day of work. Sarah was the embodiment of embracing joy no matter what life throws at her. She was an amazing person and I absolutely adored her spirit. I loved that she was a Tom boy and a klutz because so am I but in spite of it all she still wanted to dance like nobody was watching. No that’s not exactly true she actually kinda hoped people were watching and that it just looked halfway decent and had no care if it wasn’t which I loved. I wish I was that brave. Ethan now he was just I guess wounded, emotionally stunted, stupid, choose your opinion but he did finally get his act together. I don’t think he was totally a bad person but his grandparents demonstrated a proper commitment so even if his parents didn’t I just don’t understand why people let childhood trauma dictate their life that long. I felt like the grandparents really needed to roll up a newspaper and smack him in the back of the head like Edna Mode on the Incredibles and say “You’ve got to pull yourself together!!!”This 5 times and then bug out is beneath you! Get therapy for the crap with your parents if needed but not all relationships are destined to implode unless you make them. I was happy Ethan’s Mom finally set him straight before it was too late with Sarah because her sunshiny spirit was exactly what he needed in his life after all the trauma of his childhood. He needs to work on himself as well so she doesn’t need to fix that mess she’s got enough hot mess on her own with her klutz issues lol.

This is Sarah and Ethan’s story and it is definitely a must read. Ethan and Sarah are in there mid 30’s and they hook up after a night out and end up having a explosive and steamy time because of there attraction to each other but neither will admit how they feel so this book will take them on a wild journey with many ups and downs, heartfelt, difficult situations and decisions along the way that will have you turning the pages and unable to put it down as it is so funny, entertaining, emotional and addictive. The messages and silly banter will have you laughing along with the twists and turns and insecurities but with Ethan and Sarah working together because he is her boss will make everything even more complicated for the both of them. Omg I really loved Ethan and Sarah together because they really were the total opposite of each other in every single way and yet they were still so perfect for each other and together and I found myself hoping that eventually they would communicate and really talk with each other about how they feel so that they can get the happiness and future that they both really deserved in the end and I have to say that after going through everything that they have in life the outcome made me so happy. I definitely recommend that you read this book and I know that you will really enjoy it so much because J S Cooper is a amazing author and writer and her books are definitely worth reading.

Better than expected!

I’ve been in a book funk for a while. Nothing I was reading was bad, but it wasn’t amazing either. I saw this book as a Facebook ad and thought, why not give it a try? I’m glad I did! It was a quick and fun read. Here’s a quick recap and my two cents.

Quick recap:

Sarah has a crush on Ethan - the billionaire CEO of her company. But he doesn’t know she exists. Ethan meets Sarah at a bar when she’s drunk and dancing on a table. Sarah is a complete hot mess throughout the book, which creates an entertaining story for them to come together.

My two cents:

I really enjoyed Sarah and Ethan’s story a lot! Especially the hot mess that Sarah is. She blurts things out before thinking them through and gets herself into trouble more often than not trying to impress Ethan.

While I loved Sarah and Ethan, I did find myself skipping large sections of monologues. Ethan got on my nerves a bit at times. I also didn’t understand how at the end he came to this big realization and that was it, he was all in as if nothing happened and Sarah just accepted his apology.

I think there were about 2 sex scenes. Maybe 3. They were good 😊

Overall though, this was a super fun and funny quick read. I’ll probably read the next book. I hope you give it a chance! Happy reading y’all!

Ethan and Sarah

He is the billionaire owner of the company she works for. He’s a bit of an ass and doesn’t give her much of a glance. She’s described as a dowdy librarian… but you can tell she’s hot with her bun and glasses. I wish he would have noticed her this way like his best friend did but it takes a bit more for him to really see her. He plays some mind games with her… he doesn’t understand the feelings he is developing. He has a rule - 5 times and you are out… well first time they are together they get to 4. She knows how to play it cool though but her heart is still aching a week later after no contact. Then she’s dancing on the table at the bar and he grabs her to go into the storage closet. She gets injured riding the stripper pole and he cares for her. They make love and she bursts out how she loves him… he’s like what… um no. Three weeks later… they’re both avoiding each other. He has an epiphany when talking with his best friend- he loves her even though it’s so soon.

I liked Sarah - she was a bit goofy and a true hot mess. They had good silly banter. He is good at groveling and some hot sex🔥🔥🔥🔥.

Hea… tells her he loves her, he asked her to be his girlfriend and he’s planning on engagement rings and a new home together.. and even babies

Ethan Rosser and Sarah Kahan clash

Ethan Rosser, CEO and owner of Rosser Industrial, doesn't know that Sarah Kahan works for him in the copywriter depth of his business. At work, she looks dowdy and unattractive. She wears big glasses and librarian type clothes. She is actually a beautiful woman underneath all that plain clothes.
She goes out with her friend, Ella, and gets drunk and dances on the table. Ethan is with his best friend and catches her in action.
He never expected her to be this beautiful and her wildlife.
Great story of these two people and their interactions. Story is funny of how they bring out the best and worse of each other.
The sexual tension is of the wall.
He gets her to his place to get her to write a jingle for King lighting company. But his attraction gets them into his bed.
I laughed at her goofiness and his baiting her.
Two unlikely people who have feelings that grow as time goes on. Both are afraid of getting hurt.
Loved Ethan and his grouchy and then his endearing demeanor. Sarah and her sassy but hot sexiness every time she is near Ethan.
Great story by J.S. Cooper

Audiobook Review
🎧 Now accepting applications for billionaires with banter and a pulse.

Okay, this title alone had me clicking “play” faster than I’d admit to anyone in public—but the story? So worth it. What started as a hilarious “what if” setup turned into an absolute rom-com gem. J.S. Cooper took the dream of manifesting a billionaire via internet listing and somehow made it both ridiculously funny and swoon-worthy.

The banter between these two? Immaculate. Opposites in every way, but the chemistry was off the charts. I couldn’t stop listening—I didn’t want to stop. They bickered, they bantered, they fell in love in the messiest, funniest, most chaotic way.

And let’s talk about CJ Bloom—an icon, a queen, the moment. Her narration brought this story to life. She gave the FMC all the personality she deserved and made every one-liner land just right.

Also? That listing the FMC posted? That alone deserves its own award. It hooked me instantly and I’m so glad it did.

Would I recommend it? Uh, yes. Especially if you love billionaire romances that don’t take themselves too seriously and still manage to hit you right in the feelings.

disappointed

I was dissapointed. It felt like I was reading about relationship between two preschool kids. So petty and annoying.
Spoilers!!

There was no much of a story here. I mean, Sarah hated her boss for no apparent reason other than him not seeing her. I mean he does own a big company, there are many employees there, why would he notice her? Especially, as she said it herself, she was nothing special and dressed like a grandma. What do you really want here? And then when she has an opportunity to speak to him she acts like a ‘groupie’ with stars in her eyes. (I mean she hated him, right?)
Her thoughts were contradicting and really annoying.
as for Ethan, I don’t know. He sees her ad, and he was like, well, I have to check if that is true and if she is a gold digger. So he invites her to his home to check? And after one explanation (ridiculous one at that) he was like, ahh yeah, you are not a gold digger, let me eat you now..
It just didn’t make any sense to me.

This story started funny with Sarah who is identifiable with many and written to pull readers immediately into the story, but after a while, for me, the humor wore off. I enjoy being able to read stories I can escape from RL, and bringing in some ideology that doesn't appeal to me turned me off the story - completely. Sarah comments about the British and Danish Royals (which at the time it was written was bad timing perhaps, and about reparations seemed out of character more like a political viewpoint, blah blah) which Ethan dismisses as being naive. I've read and reviewed many of JS Cooper's stories and while I enjoy the repartee, the love and the hate of the characters, billionaire vs crazy girl, the funny situations characters get into can get kind of cringe-worthy, how many embarrassing situations can girls get themselves into? The story has an HFN ending. There is a separate epilogue that you need to do a bookfunnel for. The story is well written and the many fans of JS Cooper will love it.
