This is impeccable. At first I wasn't so sure about how explicit the writing is, but with more and more past uncovered, you got drawn into the story so fast you don't really notice. The end is what put this book above others for me. It's economical, a emotional punch, turning the whole pace and writing style upside down. That final 50 pages are simply astonishing, wrapping up the story in a truly unexpected way. I also love how the story is centered around strolling, wandering and losing oneself. The writing is so lyrical and poetic it's hard to conjure up how Chen managed to put all the words together to make this book hectic and sensible at the same time.
Everything they set out to do failed, but along the way they picked up those the crumbs embedded for so long, finally making peace with themselves.
