This is a hard going read. Be aware that this isn’t a smutfest, this book is about youth, becoming adults, love and a loss that tore a trio of friends apart with overwhelming grief as 2 remained behind. This is heavy on loss, guilt and mental health issues so be warned.

Going into this story I wasn’t expecting such sadness and to feel it so much. The writing in this was different to what I am used to as you go back and forth between a 10 year period, but it worked and was needed.

Elliott and Eddie loose their best friend Luke. There were romantic feels between the guys but after the tragic loss of Luke, everyones life changed. Poor poor Eddie is so lost and traumatised, blaming himself. Elliott is so in love with him but the depression and guilt from Eddie spirals into his life too and it is one big sad mess.

The author really did a great job writing the boys when they were 17 and then 27. It really suited their ages and just made the story flow. It did feel like I was watching a drama on TV.

I also loved Ember, the Police Detective, I liked her chapters as it showed the whole scenario from an outside perspective. After 30% into the story, it just grabbed me more and I needed to see what happened. I loved the developments in the later part of the book. Its just so damn heartbreaking but spirtiually uplifiting.

All the emotional support snacks for this one!

What a book! All the kudos to this incredible author for putting so much emotion and feelings and heartbreak into a book. To tackle a story like this couldn't of been easy. She had me totally in my feelings, with giant alligator tears with this one. Definately buckle up for this book. If you like emotional reads this one is for you !

I loved all 3 of these boys so much. And my heart just broke for the one who didn't get his HEA. This is a story about finding love after loss. Over coming the loss of someone they loved so young, and finding that comfort in each other. The pain and the healing could be felt through each page.

We get to meet Luke. The sweetest, golden child that everyone loved, and protected his best friend Eddie. Poor Eddie, our sad boy who had noone but his best friend Luke and Elliot. Then we had poor Elliot, in love with the boy his cousin also loved, but tried stepping to the side until tragedy struck. Watching Elliot stand my Eddie while he felt all that guilt, continuing to love Eddie when he couldn't love himself, it was just painful. Everyone needs someone like Elliot. Esp Eddie. I wanted to wrap them all in huge hugs.

Great book. P.K. is an amazing author. But definately don't go into this one expecting sunshine and rainbows. It's a beautiful, emotional story with these boys. It'll be a little while until my heart heals from this one.

A tale of love unexpressed and the pain that silence can cause. You will have a bird's-eye view of the difference love can make in the life of someone who feels unlovable. This book could be very dark, but a surprise ending shines light into the lives of those involved and changes the trajectory of their lives.
