What idiot thought it would be a good idea to republish this load of sexist, abusive, vile claptrap??

FFS . The 'Hero' (who is an alpha male of the WORST kind) whips her with his riding crop, deliberately aiming at her face. He kidnaps her, throws her in his dungeon, threatens to have her stripped and horsewhipped, starves her, treats her with utter utter contempt (even when he discovers she is a woman and not a man)

And of COURSE she falls MADLY in LURVE with him.

I'd have taken my jewel encrusted family dagger and sliced off his goolies - verra verra slowly. And then I would have stuffed them in his mouth.

Enough of this author. This is simply VILE.

A fantastic read on a freezing day by the warm fire. A novel idea and well written characters.

Would have been a solid four but there were parts near the end that I didn't like. More of personal preference (ML harming FL, FL suddenly beciming TSTL)

First published in 1981, was free when I downloaded it.
Heroine disguises herself as a boy to see if her brother-in-law killed her sister.
Weird third person/omniscient narrative style makes the story feel distant.
Skimmed to finish.
