Please allow me to be vulnerable for a second here on good reads about my textbook (yes I am a nerd and yes I think I am emotionally attached to this book)
As I turned the last page of this book today, I couldn’t help but reflect on this past 1.5 years on night shift in my first nursing job. I remember turning the first page of this book after my first day of orientation of my job. Every word was foreign to me. This book has made the nurse I am today. There were nights when I was quickly humbled and turned back to this book to equip myself .There were slow nights at 3am when I would have nothing else to do but to read page after page trying to make it to 7am. When I stepped into the new role of training people I would turn to this book, send pictures, and quotes to my interns. I read this book and think of certain patients and what their clinical manifestations, hemodynamics, families, stories and outcomes were. I think about how fortunate I am to be able to see and learn the intricate details of the Heart our Creator has designed. Cardiac Surgery Essentials for Critical Care Nursing 3rd Edition…. You mean a lot to me and I’ll forever turn back to you in the good and hard times🥹
Quotes i wrote down in my phone for my interns and my intern self in my notes
