Lee Antona’s life has gone from bad to worse. It was one thing to be captured by space pirates and sold into slavery to the Dresht. It was quite another to discover that his slavery was of the sexual nature—and that his purpose was to be a vessel for the eggs of his new Dresht owners, Eral and Ronet.

The kicker is that they’re convinced that he likes it. No, that he needs it—needs the bondage that they’ve forced on him and their unwanted, invasive touches. Lee knows he needs to escape.

Eral and Ronet aren’t hurting him exactly. In fact they dote on him, are generous with praise, and seem dedicated to bringing Lee pleasure. But Lee can’t let himself be swayed. Not when what they want in exchange is Lee’s autonomy and the right to fill Lee to bursting whenever they desire.

Forced has a 6 dove rating on the Dove Scale.

After seeing a few GR friends reading this, I picked it up mainly cause I was curious just how dead dove D. Doves books were and this seemed like a decent enough place to start......and look, it definitely is as described on the tin, but like, the writing is much better than anticipated?.....I feel a bit weird that I enjoyed this?.....(my sense of curiosity always gets me in trouble)

I guess this is sci-fi horror erotica? This ends on a cliffhanger (who would have guessed it has sufficient plot for a cliff to hang??) and the author has been clear that this doesn't have a conventional HEA, but does have a mind break HEA, so take that as you will.

Now I'm just going to quietly hope this simply disappears into my Read shelf and we shan't talk about it again 😂😂

✨Content warnings✨(if you aren't familiar with dead dove, it means check your content warnings and for the love of God take them seriously). Features noncon (but some in an unsettlingly affectionate way), MMM, oviposition, sexual slavery/human trafficking, breeding (no mpreg), bondage, dissociation, Stockholm syndrome/ mind break ending.

Please heed all the warnings for this book. Forced is pretty much cover to cover non-con. The two aliens who do end up buying Lee really do care and love him, but they interpret "No" as "Yes" throughout the whole book.

This book is connected to Captured. Lee is an S-class Space Courier who is captured by pirates and later sold to the Dresht. We learn that they are an alien species that needs humans as hosts to complete their reproductive cycle.

Lee is sold to Eral and Ronet, a mated pair. They do care for him greatly and treat him well. He's like a beloved pet to them. However, Lee wants his freedom. He's gagged, plugged and mitted and has almost no agency. Even when he voices his concerns, they are misinterpreted by the two Dresht. They view him in an almost childlike way, acting as if they know what is best for him. This is all due to information collected on humans, which they use as a manual - think of a "How to Guide" for human pets.

The irony is that they think they know him best, so even if he speaks for himself, they see him as a naive, innocent creature and willfully (or not) disregard his wants completely. He was also sexually assaulted before coming to them, so he has a lot of trauma and fear about what is to happen to him.
Lee is being used as a vessel for their eggs; they need a third party, and humans seem to be the best hosts. They dote on him, shower him with care and love him, but it’s all pretty fucked up.

Dove describes this story as “soft, loving non-con” and I would agree. Lee himself starts to accept the attention and affection he is showered upon slowly. The aliens he's under the care of do not harm him intentionally - they desire. He even questions his initial goals and motives for escape, doubting himself. So, there’s a heavy dose of Stockholm syndrome in this story.

"He may be their pet, but he was a precious one. One they seemed to care deeply about. Aside from giving him no choice in the matter, yesterday they’d been so gentle with him. They’d made him take so much, but then had pampered him, carried him around, stroked him and even taken the trappings off his hands–"

"It had been just over a week, and despite the plan to comply for freedoms, Lee was beginning to get… worried about how vulnerable it made him. He wasn’t ignorant to the way his thoughts had started to drift toward the enjoyment of these pampered moments. How he’d stopped internally narrating his anger and protests to them fucking him. The routine made it all seem normal, it dampened down his ire."

This story is told from Lee's POV, so we get a front-row seat to his experience. It can be hard to read since you're seeing his mental state, especially when the "season" happens, especially during the oviposition scenes - what Lee goes through mentally and physically is pretty rough.

Overall I really enjoyed this book! I love dark stories like this - add Alien + eggpreg this book was just amazing. This book is not for everyone but if you enjoy noncon (once again no means yes to these aliens), humiliation and dark stories I recommend it.

Forced does not have a happy ending and it ends on a cliffhanger but I'm looking forward to book two.

picked this up on a whim after seeing someone talk about it on reddit, intending only to read 3-5 pages out of a morbid curiosity. i expected something god awful, but instead found...? something surprisingly fascinating? decent writing, interesting take on themes i've seen played out before, and a main character with a great voice.

never thought i'd be reading alien/oviposition smut for the plot, but here we are. suddenly reading just a few pages has turned into me sprinting towards the second book 🏃‍♀️💨

This is an interesting take on noncon. It's sweet and loving noncon, because a reclusive different species has a very incorrect manual on Humans and what they need to survive and thrive.

Usually I read noncon where both parties are aware it's noncon, that's kind of the point. But in this case, Eral and Ronet (the Dresht who bought him) are basically stuffing him with huge dildos, gagging him, keeping his hands in mitts, feeding him by hand, carrying him everywhere, bathing him, helping with all bathroom duties, and fucking him, because it's in the Manual.

I loved it. My only small complaint is that there was a bit too much of inner thoughts to show Lee's eventual mindbreak/Stockholm syndrome. Other books I've read sometimes completely skip that part, but Dove made sure the readers were aware of the slow determination of Lee's mind and freewill.

Highly recommend, Dove's imaginative details are topnotch.

Author's rating and content warnings:
6 Doves – NO happy ending

gentle and loving noncon, mmm threesome, oviposition, sexual slavery, breed no baby, size difference, lifestyle bondage, overstimulation, stockholm syndrome, mindbreak ending

Highlights:

• “This room isn’t suited for you. But don’t worry, your mates will give you a proper room at your new home, and you’ll have lots of sunlight and greenery. All things a Human needs.”

• A deep hum from the other. “Didn’t the missive say that Humans will eat anything?”

• “I’m not hungry anymore,” he said. Belatedly adding, “Thank you.”
“Good job,” Eral said, like Lee had just done a trick. “You ate so much.”

• Once again they praised him for drinking, as if everything he did was marvelous and interesting.

• “I know sweetling, you hate going without. But we have a surprise for you.” A surprise? Other than eggs? Lee… did not like the sound of that.

• It had all been leading up to this moment. This Venigashen, which he was sure now ended with those jelly-eggs inside him.

• No. He couldn't like this. He couldn’t let himself get fucking Stockholmed by some honey-dipped praise and claws through his hair. (Just wait and see, Lee.)

Alrighty for once I feel the need to justify the rating here.

For starters I've never read anything by this author before but I did my due diligence and checked out this dove scale and all of the warnings that came with this book so I went into this looking for messed up mindless alien depravity and what I got instead was actually quite sweet alien depravity.

Now I'll be the first to admit that our main character Lee definitely manages to handle alien abduction and planed use for egg incubation/fertilization in probably one of the worst ways possible but I don't fault him for that. He has woefully terrible communication skills and makes some choices that are questionable at best but he's out here trying his best in this decidedly messed up situation he floundered himself into. Eral and Ronet are what really what make all the difference in this book for me. They both so obviously have such a deep affection for each other and try so hard to care for Lee how they think he needs to be cared for (their vibrant enthusiasm for managing to misinterpret the handful of words Lee does manage included). Now for most of this book Lee's mouth tends to be occupied so almost all of the dialogue is from either Eral or Ronet and I couldn't help but grow attached to them. This is probably one of the best examples I've found of loving non-con that I felt actually managed to work without making me dislike the perpetrators. Eral and Ronet never want to hurt Lee and fully think that this is what he needs and watching Lee slowly breakdown as all their affection wears down his resistance was wonderfully done even if some scenes did leave me wincing with just how much Lee is broken down and then put back together.

Know what you are looking for before getting into this as most the the book is alien sex and a very detailed multichapter egg impregnation/fertilization/oviposition scene. A lot of this book is Ronet and Eral having their way with Lee in various ways and I actually think he spends 95% of this book with various things inside of him from both ends (god bless him honestly).

Hear me out

There's no way to defend myself here except to say I have issues I clearly need to work through, but hear me out. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Now, this is far from baby's first dark romance but It's also nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Books that go the sci-fi alien, forced impregnation route tend to fall into the category of what I like to call grimm dark erotica. They're depressing, a chore to get through, and they're only saving grace is their usually never longer than 60 pages. This isn't that, far from it.

For starters, this is a complete novel with a lot of world building and an alien species with a fully realized culture. I liked how nothing was spoon fed to us and much like Lee we have to use context clues to figure out what certain things mean. There's also no info dumping so the world building feels natural. But by far the most surprising part was the Dresht themselves. Ronet and Eral aren't just using Lee for the sake of using him. They genuinely love and care about him. Their species just happens to have a weird way of procreating but that's far from anyone's fault. Even Lee acknowledges that when the Season comes. He ends up not hating them because it's not their fault and they've done everything they can to prep him and make him comfortable. It's actually very sweet.

I also refuse to call this Stockholm syndrome. Pirates kidnapped Lee, not Ronet and Eral. As far as they're concerned, they rescued him and in a way they did. They also don't treat him badly and are forcing him to bend to their will. They care about him, are constantly checking in on his well-being, and making adjustments when necessary. Lee even says it'd be easier to hate them and view them as captors if they weren't so kind. If you know the history of the word Stockholm syndrome you'll understand my point.

I'm not saying it's not a messed up book because it most certainly is, especially in the beginning. But it's not as dark as it's presented. Especially if you're not a novice to these types of books. I promise you you've read darker because I'm most certainly have. But if you like your dark sci-fi with a side of sweet erotica, you'll really enjoy this. And while the ending isn't an HEA or an HFN because of Lee's terrible decision to trust Palis, I'm calling it. By the end of the series it will be a romance with a full HEA. Yes I know it said to be a mind break but I don't think that quite fits here so I'm standing by my statement.

2.5 🥚🥚🐣

No stars for this one, only eggs.

I don’t know how I could possibly rate or review this? I’m also not entirely sure how I even got here.

Overall it was… good? But also wildly disturbing (obviously, given it’s a ‘sold to aliens as a sex slave’ scenario). So, two things can be true at once I guess. Like even tho this is alien smut the world building was cool, the plot was pretty strong and I enjoyed the writing style.

However! Two things about this really bothered me:

1. That the two aliens kept misinterpreting Lee’s protests for consent at every turn. That stokes a deep fear in me of being misunderstood even when able to communicate and I fear I would not survive the experience 🥲 I know it’s non con but usually both parties KNOW it’s noncon? And they just… didn’t? It was hard to see how their constant misinterpretation couldn’t be wilful and manipulative but it really isn’t. Regardless it was deeply unsettling. And one point Lee is screaming “you’re not listening!!” And I felt that shit deep in my gut ☹️ that’s nightmare fuel for me, gang.

2. The EGGS!!!! Sorry but every single thing about the eggs was so gross 😭😭😭 I love alien/monster smut as much as the next gal but filled to the brim with SLIMY EGGS?! Plus everything about it sounded so painful it was very unappealing lmao. Couple that with point 1 (“look how much he likes it/wants it/craves it” when he DOESN’T) and I was about at my limit.

This ends on a cliffhanger and I just don’t know how I could read the next one to get some closure if there are more eggs involved? 🤢

відсутність будь-якої тілесної автономії (what with being constantly mitted and gagged and whatnot) додавала усім взаємодіям тут (принаймні спочатку) відчуття такої шаленої безпорадності й клаустрофобності--- а на контрасті з тим, що ерал та ронет були щиро переконані, що вони чинять якнайліпше (бо вони буквально went above and beyond in their care відповідно до порад тієї аґенції) та докупи з тим постійним щирісіньким doting й pampering, ми отримали такий вир емоцій врешті, шо це жах.

Well written but a mind flip

There is no happen ending her and 100% non-con/Stockholm syndrome. This will leave you feeling really yucky to read but also compelled. The hardest part is the misunderstanding of the aliens which is honestly not well done. You have to accept that the aliens think no means yes and it honestly doesn't make sense since there is no language barrier, they just seem incapable of understanding which seems like a dumb plot point in an otherwise well written work. I'm going to read the last book because I want to know how it ends but this is a hard read and people should know this doesn't have as much a happy ending as the MC eventually accepting his loss of autonomy and a life of being bother pampered and in deep pain.

This was a great read! I couldn't put it down!

You really feel for Lee, but it's hard not to like his captors, especially near the end. They're very soft and affectionate with Lee, and you start to understand why he begins to develop mixed feelings about them.

The book ended on a wild cliffhanger and I'm hoping Lee will be rescued by Eral and Ronet!

I would definitely read this book again and I recommend it to those interested in oviposition and soft noncon!

I read the second book before this one. That was intentional because I wanted to see where Lee and his mates ended up. I hate wasting time with a series only to get to a shitty ending, and when there's not many reviews to enlighten me (especially with dubcon/noncon), I usually look ahead.

I'm glad I did. I liked the second book because the relationship was already established. And I (strongly) disliked this book because of how the "relationship" got established. I'm cool with dubcon/noncon if it's done right. This wasn't done right, in my opinion.

First, the situations Lee gets into are just too stupid. He should be able to communicate with these aliens better than he did (which was basically not at all). He had opportunities, but then some stupid unrealistic behavior by one or all of them would result in Lee getting forced into sex. That's just weak, frankly. And I found it boring.

Related to that, Lee is really inconsistent. He internally thinks all these things about how he's going to do this or say that, but when it comes down to it, he doesn't and no explanation is given for his behavior (or lack thereof).

The initial sex wasn't done well either. Lee's mates are very large, way bigger than humans. Lee was basically a virgin. But in the first sex scene, there was maybe a few minutes of fingering right before the LARGEST mate pushed all the way into Lee. Like I'm talking up into his belly and thick as a forearm type of "big," if not bigger. But... Lee doesn't get injured from it? He feels a lot of pleasure from it, in fact! Bull. Fucking. Shit. His asshole would have torn, it would have been extremely painful. He likely would have passed out, potentially from blood loss if not pain. His mates would have stopped (because they genuinely cared about his physical health). But no... it's just this magical (without actual in-story magic/tech, which would resolve the issue) sex scene where it doesn't matter if the virgin bottom is getting fucked with a fire hydrant, it's all pleasure and bliss. Bleh, ruined it.

I understand that the author may not have wanted to go the pain route because Lee's mates didn't want that. But if that's the case, then a better reason for why it wasn't painful and damaging should have been established. I can think of two ways off the top of my head, both of which I've seen in books before. Option 1, Lee goes through weeks of stretching and anal training. It's certainly possible to take huge things, but it requires a lot of practice and preparation of the body. Option 2, use some magic/advanced technology to inhibit pain and injury. Nanobots that inhibit anal pain during sex and heal injury as it happens? Like, there's a billion options in sci-fi, pick one. The story already had this "liquid metal" concept, and his mates would have seemed even MORE caring if they utilized such technology specifically for Lee's benefit and pleasure.

This first book just seemed like really lazy writing, and that made it boring and in some cases, offensive. The sex is hot if you can get past the complete lack of any base realism. I cannot, nor can I lobotomize myself enough to swallow down the stupidity of some of Lee's behaviors. Thus, I can't give this particular book a good rating, despite rating the second one much higher as a standalone. I would certainly not read this again.

Well, I disliked a lot of themes in this book. The writing was easy to read and I finished it quickly, but the story was not my cup of tea. I was annoyed the whole time, Lee didn’t need a gag, his communication skills were so shit it was actually frustrating to read. I don’t have a problem with bad books as long as they’re interesting, but I cannot stand when books get frustrating. That is an absolute no. I wanted to DNF this about 3 to 4 times but I never DNF and didn’t want to start now.

The non-con was actually so much worse than them just having no regard for him. The way they thought they treated him well while they abused him annoyed me so much. The breeding was okay, I didn’t really care for that. Gags don’t bother me in books but the way he was too stupid to communicate he didn’t like it set me off. Now something I absolutely hate with every fibre of my being: mittens. I can’t even explain how much I hate that, and they were constantly in use. The toy/plug was okay nothing out of the ordinary.

So the kinks were basically a lot of things I dislike combined in situations I dislike even more.

Towards the end I thought I was the one with Stockholm hoping he would stop about thinking to leave them. The end was terrible and even more infuriating.

This was really hard to read. I gave it two stars because apparently I should have read the trigger warning but I have never in my life read a trigger warning and its never been an issue. This was horrifying. I would have been ok reading it for what it was if they had a language barrier or if his "mates" really just didn't care for him. But they understood and still chose to disregard his care because they have this insane idea that he loves the torture. I just can't read anymore. If I was in his shoes and couldn't escape I would kill myself so for me to feel that way and they are supposed to eventually be his HEA.... I just can't do it. It may get better but I'm not sticking around any longer to find out. Dnf at 73%

DNF @ 25%.

Forced, unfortunately, isn’t just the title of the book, it’s also how my reading of this has been. I loved the prequel, but I just don’t care about Lee in this. I find him more frustrating than anything.

I read a chapter or two, tok a break, read a chapter, took a break. And then forgot entirely about the fact I was even reading it. Maybe D. Dove’s full length novels just don’t work for me? Both this and Rerouting River were flops for me, while everything else I’ve read has been wonderful.

Finished the book but dropping the series. Ultimately it's just a really sad story, a tragedy in a few ways.

I don't care for the mc, he lacked any sense from the beginning and was supposed to be a highly competent agent, and I don't care for the couple, they could identify his distress easily when it suited them but ignored it when inconvenient.

The entire book feels like a revenge metaphor for a woman being forced to carry to term after noncon SA, and the complex feelings of being trauma bonded to her assailant.

Just, really sad. Not spicy, just a bummer.

Not sure what to rate this. Part of me wanted to hate the book, I didn’t like how weak Lee became, or naive he was to his predicament. But in the end, I think the transition was written well enough that it was believable that he would start to like his captures.

Don't mind me, I was curious, ok?
It's just written so well, I could cry. Why some of my favourite books are not written this way?
And about the story... well... There is one, which is surprise? I guess? And it's mindfuck too...
But, well I kinda skipped the first part, so ups?...

Book 1 of Alien Clutch Romance 💘

In this book we follow Lee and find out how he’s adapting to his new life within the Dresht world and his new master’s, Ronet and Eral.

Lee is settling in quite nicely, in his new role, so much he soon finds himself forgetting about escaping. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
