My peaceful existence gets body-checked when a brooding, grumpy hockey player moves in next door…
The first time I meet Niall O’Rourke, he greets me, wearing little more than a scowl and a demeanor colder than the ice he skates on. My deeply ingrained Southern manners force me to give him the benefit of the doubt, but every interaction we share convinces me he’s a grade-A jerk.
I do my best to avoid him, that is, until he makes a proposition too good to refuse: I pretend to be his fiancée, and in return, he’ll appear on my local television show, which could give Bigfoot’s Hairy Tale the ratings bump needed for national syndication.
Despite our personalities clashing like hockey sticks, I discover beneath his brawny exterior is a man burdened by a complex past and a wounded heart.
But I’m not interested in “fixing” him. I’ve been down that road before, and it never ends well. If only Niall weren’t so hellbent on using his lips to convince me otherwise.
It’s going to take everything in me to evade the enforcer.
Jacob Chance grew up in New England and still lives there today. He’s a martial artist, a football fan, a practical joker, and junk food lover. A USA Today bestselling author of sports romance and romantic suspense, Jacob plans on writing many more stories.
Once again, Jacob puts his best skate forward and scores! This was a low angst, slow burn, feel good story with fun and quirky characters. Lucy's happy and sunny attitude vs Niall's grumpiness is the perfect mix and I can't wait for more!
I loved every minute of this, super fun and sweet, grumpy/sunshine novel. Niall moves in next door to Lucy after her bestie moves out. Their first encounter is hilarious and does not bode well for their future encounters. However, he's on the hockey team of her besties boyfriend so it's enviable that they are going to interact with each other.
Lucy is an independent and smart woman who knows exactly what she wants out of life but her new hot neighbor is making her question everything because he is showing her a future that she's quite intrigued by.
Niall has had a rough year and he's still struggling to wrap his mind around it but Lucy is definitely helping with that.
Their story is fun, sweet, spicy and romantic. Love a good grumpy/sunshine plot and this is perfect for that. The slow burn is worth it and when they come together it is explosive. Happy Reading!!
If there is one thing I can rely on it’s as great read whenever I pick up a Jacob Chance book! And this one does exactly that!
This is a fun 180 page book that is perfect way to brighten a cold dreary Midwest afternoon. We are back in Charleston with the hottest hockey team, and it’s Niall’s turn.
Niall and Lucy’s story is a funny slow burn that will melt your heart while you watch them come together. We get to spend time with some of our old friends and make some new ones as well. I love this series, Jacob knows exactly what he’s doing and I will always be first in line for his books.
This story had me captivated from the very beginning. It’s full of all my favorite tropes, the characters meeting was so funny and the story had many surprises along with laugh out loud moments.
Niall is just the most swooniest grumpy hockey player and I absolutely love him. Things aren’t going the best for him and moving into his life and next door is Lucy.
Lucy is the hard working sunshine that is the match for Naill. I loved reading their sweet, funny and spicy story that left me with a constant smile and a longing for more of Lucy and Naill’s story.
I love a good light hearted read. This rom com will keep you flipping the pages. Lucy and her Bigfoot loving self is hilarious. Niall was starting over and his plans didn’t include the beauty next door. These two were perfect for one another.
This series is so good, Jacob knows how to bring the words to the surface and make you feel like you you've known the characters forever. Lucy and Niall are imperfectly perfect. Lucy is very independent, where Niall is a little grumpy and sexy as hell. I love the fun and sparring back and forth while bringing the slow burn to a boil. Loved it!
Evading the Enforcer is a fun loving and swoonworthy comedic read that will leave you grasping for more. I loved Lucy’s quirkiness that eventually brought grumpy Niall to his knees! As always, Jacob delivered another 5 star release.
Niall is a relatively new player for the Coyotes, grumpy and a little closer off due to a heart break a year ago. He moves into a house owned by a team mates girlfriend in the hope of healing. When Lucy, one of his neighbours wakes him, he shows her his grumpy side and is rude! Lucy has a sunny disposition, runs a show about Bigfoot and doesn't like hockey. When Niall's brother and sister come to stay, they become instant friends with Lucy, inviting her for a meal. When they spend time together, Niall's true personality shines through and appearing on Lucy's show only makes them both fall deeper. This was a great read. I love how Jacob makes his characters come alive and the chemistry they have
Lucy and Niall were hilarious and I loved the premise behind them becoming friends.
Lucy is an independent woman who has paved her own way because of her love of Sasquatch. She is hilarious and though her and the broody enforcer don’t have a good first meeting over time they become friends!
Niall has been burned by love and he’s jaded! He finds Lucy attractive but can’t lose his focus over a female anymore. When they become friends a bargain is made and Niall soon discovers that maybe another chance at love is worth it!
A hilarious book that I didn’t want to end! Loved the broody Niall and the fact that Lucy didn’t take his attitude and gave right back!
I love love reading sports romance, and as always, Jacob Chance does not disappoint. Grumpy Niall, and Sunshine Lucy were a perfect mix and complimented each other perfectly. This was a fun, sweet & spicy, slow burn read which will leave you wanting more. I hope to see more of this couple in other books. Another outstanding addition to the Charleston Coyotes Hockey Series.
Evading the Enforcer is a thrilling addition to the Charleston Coyotes Hockey series. The story follows the romance between hockey player, Kade, and his childhood friend, Addison, as they navigate their feelings for each other while dealing with the pressures of their careers. The chemistry between the two characters is palpable, and the plot is well-paced with plenty of steamy scenes and heartwarming moments. The writing is engaging and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to become invested in their story. Overall, I highly recommend this book to fans of sports romance and anyone looking for a captivating read.
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
This is Lucy and Niall‘s story. These two start out as friends and that leads to much more. She wants something from him, and he wants something from her so a deal is struck. A deal was all it was supposed to be but feelings have one of them rethinking everything. Can they build a future, or will they end up less than friends after all the sparks are down flying all around?
A good read, one that compliments this series perfectly. Wonderful characters, great to see Niall heading in the right direction after his terrible time with Destiny. And as always Lucy is a wonderful character and great to see her stoop. Shame it felt a little unfinished but maybe we’ll get more from these two in the future.
This was my first Jacob Chance book that I listened to instead of just reading.
Dual persecutive, his and hers. I love that you still get the previous characters floating in and out of his story. This book went super fast. It is is a hockey book, but not too much hockey. The characters are both equally lovable. I love his siblings, they made the book so much more enjoyable. Onto the next book, and sadly the end of the series.
I don’t have the words to describe how much I love this story. The chemistry between Lucy and Niall is off the charts and I love their banter. Every time I read these books I am never disappointed. I can’t wait for more
Another great story from the series. Can be read as a standalone but has crossover characters so worth reading all of the series. Niall is a new player to the Coyotes and he's quite grumpy. He's doesn't make a great first impression on Lucy his neighbour. The dynamic was an interesting read to see how Mr grumpy would thaw. Loved side characters new and familiar faces. I really enjoyed this lighthearted read.
I love this series and I swear each one is my favorite until the next one comes out!! Evading The Enforcer is the fifth book in Jacob’s Charleston Coyotes Hockey series. It can be read as a stand-alone but you should definitely check the others out too! It was sweet, sexy, and full of laughs!
Lucy was told her new neighbor was amazing but when she met him, he was nothing but rude to her. She decided to give him another chance but it didn’t go much better. It wasn’t until Niall needed something from Lucy that he started changing his tune. Would their arrangement force them to get along or blow up in their faces?
I loved Lucy’s job!! I knew it was going to be a good time with Bigfoot and hockey!! Niall may have acted grumpy but he sure was a sweetheart underneath! Watching the two of them work together was so sweet! Glad Lucy was able to be there for Niall!! Can’t wait for the bonus epilogue with these two!
4.5 Stars This is the fifth book in the series. I'm already a huge fan of this series, but this book proves why I do. Niall and all his teammates have stolen my heart. When they are together it is so much fun and find myself laughing at their antics. I LOVED Lucy to pieces. We got to know her a little in her BFF's book, but I'm so glad Lucy has gotten a story. I lover her job and it fits so well. Why Niall wanted to be traded to the Coyote's is very heartbreaking, but it's going to prove the best move for him. He is bit of a grump, but he doesn't stand a chance against Lucy's sunny personality. I also love she becomes instant friends with Niall's siblings. Lucy brings out the happier relaxed side of Niall that's been missing. A great book with great characters. I couldn't put this one down and read it in a day. The characters had me hooked!
Now between Mauve and Calista I can't say for sure who the true match maker is for Nial and Lucy. I loved how grumpy Nial was at the beginning and his original nickname from Lucy. It was clear Nial had something to work out and it was wonderful to see him lean on Lucy. It's like his heart knew he could trust her with his emotions but his head had to catch up. What a beautiful story of how neighbors, to friends, to lovers is a great story.
Jacob chance is one of my go-to writers. I came to this book with one of the worst bitter feelings with regards to a major best selling duet. It was terrible, and I knew that I had to find a book that would erase a terrible reading experience. It was none other than Jacob Chance. This was a great book. Yes he has a formula, but I would take his formula any day over lot of books. This is a well developed story. It was mature in many respects, and it was at his best.
This story, nbr five in the Coyotes hockey series is not the best out of the five, but it is nonetheless deserving of the fabulous four stars I am giving it here. It has a good storyline and the story evolves very naturally. Overall a fine story.
This wasn't a very long book, it was short and sweet and to the point. It did leave me wanting more, but so do most of the books in this series. I loved Niall and Lucy. They are both older and mature and not into playing games. I really liked that Lucy is a self sufficient woman who doesn't need a man to define her. It feels like I just flew through this book, but maybe that's a testament to how good it was. I'm definitely a fan of this series.
This series just keeps getting better and better!! Jacob Chance wrote an amazing story. I really loved it as well as hanging with the other Coyotes and there ladies.
Niall is amazing and my heart broke for him and what he’s going through. It’s was terrible! I love how Lucy was the catalyst for him to move on. Lucy is absolutely awesome! I love how she is so independent and of course her Bigfoot obsession. Together they’re a fantastic couple .
Niall brother and sister are hysterical, their relationship was an added bonus to the story.
Overall I loved everything about this book , it’s definitely a must read along with the rest of the series!!
I absolutely fell in love with these two. Niall and Lucy are phenomenal together. They are definitely a couple to remember. I will say that I personally don’t like one thing but, Jacob did an excellent enough job that I was able to over look it. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I beyond recommend this book and author.
Another awesome book from Jacob Chance! I love the Coyotes! Lucy is the best character ever. She has the best job ever. She is happy in her life, except that her bestie moved in with her boyfriend and rented her house to the grumpiest man ever. I seriously loved every bit of this book!!
Nothing to evade here; I loved every second of this grumpy sunshine, hockey story from Jacob Chance.
Niall and Lucy were freaking awesome. He's a good-hearted marshmallow in a tough enforcers body. Lucy is the quirky and totally adorable, Bigfoot chasing, girl-next-door. Literally.
Niall and Lucy's relationship was so cute, and Niall's family was awesome. Despite ending rather abruptly, I was super glad to be back with the Coyote family in this adorable story. Wishing for an epilogue, though!
I am in love with these two. They are perfect together. They compliment each other so well. From one grumpy encounter to the next, you could feel the smexual tension. You just knew they would be a match made in heaven.
