I'm the girl who'll never be the main star in a movie. The one who never gets a love interest. Or if she does, it's the quirky friend who has secretly crushed on her. It's never the brooding hot boy every girl wants. So what do I do when I move into a condo with my best friend, and my new neighbor is the most sinfully delicious guy? I get sexy. Except being sexy is hard, especially now that I'm caught between the bad boy next door and my grumpy best friend. And I just might be a little pregnant.**This book has been revised and edited slightly but is no new content. It is published as a serial Kindle Vella story, too.**
Now Tiye! This was a mess alright, but it shole wasn't pretty! 👀 Lawd, every character in this thang was a hot, confused mess! Nobody knew what the hell they wanted, the secrets and lies, bed hopping, chile..... 😤
Darren, the awkward, nerdy girl, wants a boyfriend. Bad! Loneliness is eating her alive, and she wants someone to call her own, to love and care for. She has her sights set on her neighbor Carter, and nothing is going to stand in her way of getting him. Even the buried feelings she has for her best friend Grey.
Grey is complicated. He loves Darren more than anything, but he is so averse to commitment and marriage that he would not put his heart out there, when he knows she wants more. So, he tries to support Darren in her efforts to gain Carter's affection, but his jealousy gets in the way.
Whew, the drama did not come to play, and the plot thickened like a mf! I just could not believe these folks! Darren, Darren, Darren... what is we gone do? 🤯
Carter is really the only one who had his ish somewhat together. He was always upfront with Darren, telling her his feelings and wants for the future. But I was giving bruh the 👀, cause the ish he was allowing and putting up with was....... waaaay over the top! Then that ending.... how did that happen? I laughed for a good minute, cause that ish was crazy! I kept reminding myself that these were youngins, but they shole brought out the grown people ish in this story! Good job Tiye!
The story was in fact a lot messy. I am not a huge fan of this type of adventure, but oh well. When you do risky things, you should remember actions have consequences.
Excellent book. It had me at the edge of my seat and second-guessing myself a few times. I was team Darren, from day one, but admittedly wanted to shake the stupid out of her a few times. Grant (Grey) and Carter also had their I-need-to-be-throat-punched moments, but I understood the root of there their ridiculous behavior. Chelsea, on the other hand, had no redeeming qualities and was nothing but a nasty skank that needed to be put out with the trash.
I can truly say Darren, Carter and Grey got on my nerves! They all didn't know what they really wanted! All this back and forth! Chelsea was never Darren's true friend, she was envious of her. Darren really was playing a dangerous game with these men! I was waiting for her and Grey to realize what was between them but in the end Grey chose his passion for running and Darren settled! I am anxious to know how it all turns out! A good read so far!
Pretty Mess is exactly what the title promises: messy, dramatic, and full of people making the worst possible decisions with full confidence. Tiye really said, “What if everyone followed their heart… and absolutely none of their common sense?” and then ran with it.
This book is a whole ecosystem of selfish choices, questionable friendships, and romantic chaos that had me side‑eyeing every character like I was the unpaid therapist in the room. Darren is juggling feelings she has no business juggling, the men in her life are determined to complicate things further, and the so‑called “friends” are giving more hater‑energy than support.
It’s chaotic, it’s entertaining, and it’s the kind of drama you read with popcorn nearby. One thing about Tiye…she’s going to deliver a storyline that keeps you saying, “Now why would you do that?” all the way through.
A Pretty Mess was a well written story. Darren was caught between her neighbor and best friend. Tiye does a good job with character development. Darren thought her two best friends were living the life and she wanted to experience the same. She got more than sh bargained. Readers will root for both Grey and Carter. Who will Darren choose?
Darren definitely made a pretty big mess. She had me on the edge of my seat turning pages like there is no tomorrow! Girl! Grey and Carter... Carter and Grey... I can understand why she acted the way that she did between those 2 and also with her being naive. This was a great read, the 2nd one I've read by this author, and I plan to continue!!!
A Pretty Mess was so cute and messy, and I loved it. I was team Carter and Grey because they were both good men. Darren put a lot of pressure on herself about love and marriage. I wished she had slowed down a bit and didn’t settle with the first man that gave her attention, even if Carter was good. If I had to choose who was better for Darren, it was Grey. But after the end, I’m not sure🤔.
Darren was a college senior looking for love! She had her choice between the Olympic bound track star or the NFL bound quarter back. When you love both in different ways who do you choose?
This book’s title is definitely correct. The book was good even with these young adults all over the place with their feels and actions. You have envy, jealousy, love and deception going on throughout the story. In the end, LOVE wins out and Tiye draws us into her amazing storytelling.
Darren had a dilemma on her hand! Both Carter and Grey are were good men. I was going back and forth myself! Chelsea had me wondering about her from the start. This author never lets me down!
What a wild ride! Couldn't stop reading had to finish and see how it all ended! OMG! Felt it rushed the end but after the rocky start phew. So much love
