A wonderful book to end the Lack of Luxury series!!

Hope Callaghan writes another wonderful series ender to Liz &her husband Floyd's unusual marriage and renovation of a large fixer-upper. Floyd had gifted Liz the house as a wedding present, much to her unbelief and horror. Seeing the look on her face he promised she could renovate it into anything her hearts desire, money wasn't an object. Liz is Garden Girls Gloria's finicky younger sister who believes she deserves all the finer things in life. Much to Gloria's surprise, she finds Liz really fell in love this time with a man who owns and runs a very large local dairy farm. In the last two books lots has happened to Liz & Floyd as they renovate the run down house into Liz's dream home but it has not been without many problems and murders along the way. Spy in the Sky is no exception to problems and attempted murder. Enjoy this last book in the series as Liz and Floyd again call on the Gloria and the Garden Girls for help with the latest escapades of mystery, comedy, investigation and love between the best of friends in this clean, Christian cozy mystery. Hope Callaghan is one of the best authors of our time!! A real must read!

Hope Callaghan has hit it out of the park with this final good bye to Liz and our amazing Garden Girl Sleuths! I am going to miss this team of amazing women so very much!

As the remodeling of the old plantation farm house Floyd bought Liz for a wedding gift is completed, Liz has her hands full with planning a party to celebrate and show off the estate. However, someone in a small plane has begun circling the property at all hours of the day and night, annoying the couple and their neighbors! Then water balloons were launched on to the property followed by a bombarding of rotton tomatoes reeking havoc and causing a mess in their lives....until one day when the plane is shot down mid flight casting suspicion on Floyd. Could this really be happening to Liz now that she has found the love of her life and has everything she's ever dreamed of??? The Garden Girls are quickly called in to investigate before charges are brought forward that could tear Liz's world apart.

As a Michigander, Spy in the Sky immediately had my attention. Hope Callaghan has a way with words: a stupid lawnmower in the sky. Her succinct writing style has me wanting more and keeps this retiree engaged in the story. A page turning who dun it mystery with several red herrings and some foreshadowing. As a mom, whose oldest son and 16 year old grandson both have private plane licenses, Hope Callaghan’s description of the antics of the stupid lawnmower in the sky is spot on – small planes, small town airport, flying patterns, Flight App, natural gas on private property, and annoying neighbors. Throw in the sleuth loving Golden Years Golden Girls, two cute dogs, and two pigs for a delightful New Year’s read. Recipe for Liz’s Mediterranean Baked Chicken. Timing is EVERYTHING!

Planes and rotten tomatoes!

The Gloria and the Garden Girls are sleuthing again! Liz has been busy remodeling and turning her newly acquired ramshackle farm house into her dream home. Recently, a small, but very noisy plane has been circling and buzzing her place - annoying her at all hours! When she discovers that the plane is also dropping rotten tomatoes on her property, she gets angry and calls Gloria for help. Their investigation turns serious when someone shoots the plane and it crashes. Can they figure out who the shooter is, before the wrong person is arrested? I love these characters, who are so entertaining! I received a free copy of this book from the author and write this review voluntarily.

Fun series that focuses on solving mysteries - usually murder (not this time) in a small town. An "older - more mature - team of female friends do all of the sleuthing with occasional help from other friends and spouses. Liz has never really been one of my favorite characters, although she has changed a bit with her marriage to Floyd. This plot one has a few twists, but the final solution was really abrupt. I almost missed it. Plenty of focus on expensive houses, decor, and parties. Not as much on the sleuthing side as usual.

Liz Strikes Again! 😩

When a maladjusted realtor, who almost bought Liz and Floyd’s farm, decides to harass them with his plane, Liz goes on the defensive.
When her plans go awry and somebody shoots the plane down. Liz and Floyd become suspects.
So, of course, it’s up to the garden girls to help out. And figure out who shot the plane down. Once again, the ladies get together to figure things out.
Love the new series, and Liz cracks me up. Can’t wait for the next one! 😃

An absolutely delightful read! A low-flying plane has been tormenting Liz and Floyd, as well as their neighbors. When Floyd is accused of shooting the plane out of the sky the Garden Girls rally to unveil the truth. Great plot with fun characters, as expected of this author. Highly recommended! We are on the third book in the series. The senior Garden Girls are again involved in a mystery for Liz and her farm. This time a plane is shot down that was flying over three farms and throwing water balloons and rotten tomatoes at their farm. Of course, Liz and her husband were he prime suspects.
