Data
-Subject "I was told to pick a mate amongst the humans. I was bribed to do it, for the good of my people. Disease is devastating our population, and we need humans to recover. When she chose me first, I considered it the best possible outcome. She doesn't know about the orders I was given. She doesn't know my ulterior motives. And I'm afraid it's going to break us for good."
-Subject "I'm sorry. I had to do it. I had no choice! They have my daughter. They said if I didn't frame one of the alien males for assaulting me, they'd hurt her. He didn't know when I chose him that I was lying. He didn't know that I was using him. But we're mated for good now, and I don't think we can recover from my lies."

ITS ONLY A TRILOGY?

Why? each alien tribe needs like 30 books each. I do not think I am being unreasonable at all. Chop chop Talia. PEN TO PAPER.

Soft DNF @ 71%. Lost interest and haven’t picked it back up since Jan. May return to it, but it’s just long/dragging.

Zeffir and Rae's story is unique and all the better for it. This story was a fun read (made better if you've read the Mates of the Domini series for extra background, though it can be read as a standalone). More so than in previous books author Talia Rhea has really brought more emotional punches in this story, that all have satisfying conclusions. We get to watch Zeffir and Rae come to terms with their differences, with the positions they've been put in, and watch their love bloom before our eyes.

Another great addition to the series

I loved, loved Zeffir and Rae’s alien-human, fated mates romance with a side of painful pasts, missteps, and hidden agendas. The balance between the science and the romance elements in the book was done perfectly, each playing an integral and important part without overshadowing the other. It really resonated with the nerd and the hopeless romantic in me. Earth has become a protectorate planet of the alien coalition. To receive protectorate status, earth agreed to allow the non-invasive year long study of humans to see if it can be determined if and why they can mate and breed with a range of alien species other than the domini. Zeffir is a vir alien whose winged species is dying out due to female chromosomal instability which causes female infertility and the unexplained death of female fetuses. He has been hired as the lead scientist on the Lunar Base where the experiments are being conducted. His government has also asked him to mate with a human so that she can be studied for their issue. Rae is a human scientist and single mom who will be working with the alien scientists for a year at the Lunar Base. She is also being blackmailed by her father for the Pro-Human Advocates League into mating with an alien and then claiming she was assaulted. Zeffir and Rae choose each other and then recognize that they are true mates but this is only the beginning of the journey to their HEA and the potential consequences to the treaty. I loved how their relationship developed organically as they spent time together and while there were quite a few issues, not the least of which is the differences in their species that needed to be acknowledged and addressed to get to their HEA, they did so as they issues arose. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline woven into superb world building. There are sweet moments, spicy scenes, alien physiology and cultures, painful pasts, political machinations, bad guys, science, revelations, plot twists, big feels, and laughs. I am looking forward to reading the final book in this series. 4.5 stars.

He is an alien with wings and horns, she is human.

SPOILERS SPOILERS

He was so excited to find his true mate. She would do anything to get her daughter back. Her dad kidnapped her daughter to force her to claim an alien raped her. She didn't want to do it but was desperate to get her daughter back.

My problem is that she never told the police or any of the aliens about it. She just went along with this plan. She tells the hero after he mates her. He immediately finds her daughter on earth with a DNA scan. He immediately goes to that location and rescues her baby.

Now they are a family. He is very happy to have a daughter and learns how to take care of her right away.

They have long talks and forgive each other. They go on dates.

I really liked Zeffir. He was the biggest sweetheart and just can do no wrong. I love that even though their relationship started with lies and deception, it came out early on so they could focus on the more important part- building a healthy relationship. I also like his species so much more than book 1. He’s still human enough to be able to kiss his girl properly. The whole Dino/lizard Ratchi thing in book 1 just really didn’t work for me. Huge improvement with the Vir just having some extra parts on their otherwise humanoid bodies

I was actually surprised by the
Mention and accuracy of prion diseases in this book as a genetics girlie… but it doesn’t change the fact that Rae was a bad mom in the beginning of the book for leaving her 3 month old child for a whole year.

Good

I really liked parts of this story, but there were long boring parts that I struggled to get through. Overall ok book, but, to me, not as good as the rest in the series.

The editing on every one of these books must have been done by a kindergartener.

I absolutely loved the nerdiness of this book, I have 0 knowledge about viruses and bacteria so I was surprised at the way the author managed to pick specific things and made it fictional.
