When life is too much, and you can’t hack it, what do you do? Go back home, right? It’s just the logical thing to do. At a young age, I learned that Kentbury is kind of magical—and great at maple syrup. I packed my things, drove to my parents’ house and …
I found Sinclair McFolley— irresistibly brooding, and dangerously handsome. He and his siblings took possession of my childhood home. What the f. . . obviously it’s a mistake. It wasn’t. So now my plans are to either go back home or stay in Kentbury helping the McFolleys with their summer camp.
It’s all fun and games until feelings start getting in the way. Challenges turn into opportunities. And suddenly the summer fling I never planned on might become the romance of a lifetime.
Maybe Kentbury isn’t just a place to escape to—it’s where I was meant to find myself all along.
Claudia is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author. She writes alluring, thrilling stories about complicated women and the men who take their breath away. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and her youngest two children. She has a sweet Bichon, Macey, who thinks she's the ruler of the house. She's only partially right. When Claudia is not writing, you can find her reading, knitting, or just hanging out with her family. At night, she likes to binge watch shows with her equally geeky husband.
Summer in Kentbury had me wishing I was by a lake enjoying the scenery and small-town atmosphere. Sinclair and Lavender were great together, even when they started off on the wrong foot.
Lavender and Sinclair do not hit it off when they meet; their meet-cute is more of a stranger to enemies beginning than a happy one, but that does change over time. I enjoyed the banter over text messages that Lavender and Sinclair had going on for a while; it shed light on why Sinclair was the way he was.
Sinclair and Lavender both find themselves in Kentbury. Sin arrived to help his siblings open their new children’s camp. He’s a high powered executive who has lived his adult life to please his father. Maybe it’s time he did something for himself. Meeting Lavender stirs emotions he is unfamiliar with, awakens a desire to change, to love.
Lavender is in Kentbury to think and regroup. Her life in NY is imploding, a tranquil summer by the lake reliving cherished memories is in order. Unfortunately that doesn’t go as planned either. She accepts a job to help the McFolley’s run their camp for the summer and challenges Sin to stay as well.
Their time together starts out a bit rocky and slowly develops into a trusted friendship. All great loves need a strong foundation, a lesson Sinclair finally learns. He returns to Kentbury ready to open his heart to Lavender.

I hope Kentbury Tales never ends! This series is like a real hug to the heart with its beautiful stories, characters and settings, and I LOVED reading Summer in Kentbury because, although I have really enjoyed all the stories in the series, Christmas in Kentbury and this last one have been my favorites so far: Sinclair & Lavender have a different story than the previous ones and I really liked that, plus, I loved getting to know these two characters in depth, knowing more about the characters that I already love and having a small glimpse of what that could come for the series.
Lavender is a peculiar character: a small town girl living in the big city, she believes in the magic of Kentbury just like the McFolleys (not Sinclair), and that is why after a great disappointment in love she decides to return to the place of her childhood to find herself again and get away from her problems. And although things don't go as Lav expected, I loved reading how the people in Kentbury still consider her part of their family, how she is optimistic about her situation in the town despite the inconveniences and how she finds the support, love and peace she needs to get on with her life.
Sinclair is just another grumpy and lost McFolley, a man who doesn't like to fail and who realizes that he's been living under the thumb of his father for years. His family history and his ex-wife are very interesting and I loved that Claudia Y. Burgoa showed us EVERYTHING about this character. Also, I really liked reading how the McFolley siblings are solving their problems and can finally count on each other when they need it.
Lav & Sin have a very different history than the previous couples in the series, as I already mentioned, and that is what makes them much more interesting. It's true that things happen quickly between them due to the length of the book, BUT I loved that these two went from being strangers, hating each other a little because of Sinclair's attitude, to forming a really strong friendship in a very short time. I also loved the twists in their story, how they both find what they needed in Kentbury and get their lives back on track.

‘Summer in Kentbury’ is the fourth book in the Kentbury Tales series, but is the first book I’ve read from this series.
This book was a good summer read, made me want to go take a dip in the lake and I just overall enjoyed reading this book.
**Audio Review**Give me all that summertime swoon! Summer in Kentbury by Claudia Burgoa was a heartfelt, feel-good small-town romance that left me feeling all warm and gooey inside from start to finish. Lavender and Sinclair’s strangers-to-lovers romance had all the witty text banter and slow-burn steamy vibes I devoured in one sitting. I have loved all of her Kentbury Tales novellas, but this one may be my favorite.
Grace Grant and Connor Crais perform this audiobook in dual narration, and I LOVED these two paired together. (Like seriously…I need more.) Grace’s passionate tone had the perfect amount of vulnerability and desire that embodied all the emotions Lavender felt as she returned home and gave in to her need for Sinclair. Connor’s deep, warm voice encompassed Sinclair’s grumpy-turned-loyal-loving demeanor perfectly. Plus, when he whispers all the swoony words, get ready to melt. The text message exchanges performed in duet-style narration add to the slow-burn, meant-to-be chemistry between Lavender and Sinclair.
Overall, I LOVED this novella. If you are a fan of a small-town summer romance with a hot broody hero, a fiercely devoted heroine returning home, lake house misunderstandings, new summer camps, nighttime intimate conversations, embarrassing encounters, new job opportunities, sweet pastries from grandma, witty text banter, finding where you truly belong, slow-burn spice, and a HEA that will last long past summer, then you will love Lavender and Sinclair’s story. I always look forward to more from Claudia Burgoa.
. Lavender is struggling recently when she finds out her ex has quickly proposed to someone else after a month of breaking up and having legal issues with him. Sinclair, our MMC, is a workaholic. Recently he has been having his own internal struggles of whether love is worth it or not. They both end up in kentbury and are soon enemies. Their feelings slowly start to change for one another. Will they just be friends or something more ?
This was such a cute enemies to lovers/ small town romance. It makes you just want to go somewhere with a lake and enjoy the summer like the characters did. Summer in Kentbury is the perfect summer read. I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a quick, cute, summer vibes book.
I wanna start by saying thank you to Claudia Burgoa for sending me an ARC (Advanced Reader's Copy), I'm so grateful 💕.
OMG, "Summer in Kentbury" by Claudia Burgoa is the best book ever! 🌟 I totally loved the slow-burn romance and the small-town vibes. The main character goes back to her hometown and meets this super broody, hot guy, Sinclair, and their chemistry is fire! 🔥 I couldn't put it down because the banter and all the feels were just perfect. Plus, the story about finding yourself and healing was so inspiring. Seriously, if you love cute romances with deep messages, read this book! 💖 Though it was short, I enjoyed every moment of it! It's a definite 4.5⭐ for me!

This novella is a cute small town summertime romance, a quick and heartwarming read. I’m not a fan of the instalove trope but the slow burn and the tension building made me enjoy the book. the characters are funand the setting is magical.
Lavender and Sinclair’s story starts off a bit like enemies to lovers but turns into friends to lovers real quick and their banter was top tier! And let’s not forget how adorable the HEA was.

This book made me wish I was back home on the lake this summer!! I love the small town charm in this book too! Lavender and Sinclair are both at a point in their lives where they feel they need to make a change. Sinclair has always put work and his job first before anything or anyone else. Lavender just broke up with her boyfriend due to his cheating. Both escape to Kentbury for summer hoping to have a change in their daily life’s and escape. They find this amazing friendship. It didn’t start off so great but it slowly grows and these two are just too cute together. I loved being along for this slow burn friendship to lovers.
✨ Review ✨ *** Summer in Kentbury was so good and so sweet. I loved this novella. It was fast paced and so easy to read. I loved Lavender and Sinclair. They were perfect for each other. Kentbury swept me away again in this charming, heartfelt love story! There's nothing better than a small town romance, where everyone is close-knit, and love blossoms in the most unexpected places. Lavender and Sinclair are both at a crossroads in their life, and came to Kentbury to rejuvenate. Lavender was betrayed and needs to find the happiness she had when vacationing in Kentbury as a young girl, and Sinclair is a workaholic who is afraid he isn't cut out for true love. Their first meeting was awkward, but they soon connected, building a friendship they both needed. Their slow-burn attraction and relationship was so beautiful to witness. I loved how they were there for each other as they navigated through the situations that had them running to Kentbury in the first place. This book was so precious. Despite being a novella, it had wonderful depth, and authentic raw emotion that made it easy to be drawn in and fall in love with Lavender and Sinclair too. I loved watching Lavender bloom and find her footing, and watch broody Sinclair's walls fall as he fought for himself and for love. I also loved seeing Sinclair's family who I grew to care for from past books. I really enjoyed this heartwarming story, with all it's feels, and it had me smiling big when I was finished.
This is a charming romance novella that sweeps you off your feet, it was short and sweet. The story centers around Lavender and Sinclair, two individuals with a past filled with heartache and a future that becomes unexpectedly intertwined during a holiday retreat.
Lavender is trying to heal from a betrayal by her ex and best friend that left her wary of love. Sinclair, on the other hand, is a brooding figure who is a workaholic to the point it cost him his divorce. Their paths cross, and what starts as a friendship slowly blooms into something deeper. This was a slow burn, with them having a long distance and discovering more about each other before they were ready to be in a relationship.
This is a heartwarming read with well-drawn characters and a setting that feels like a cozy escape, this novella is perfect for a quiet afternoon read. Highly recommended for romance enthusiasts!
Definitely not as angsty as most Burgoa books, but so much fun. I really love how she uses "text messages" within the books as communication and a way for her characters to get to know each other. It makes it so fun.
Kentbury is definitely a place I would want to visit!
Lavender's listened to her sister's advice and has come back to Kentbury to stay for awhile in their childhood home, when she finds it not only in a sad state, but also apparently, not her family's any longer. It seems their parents forgot to tell their kids they sold their home. Thank God the new owners have taken pity on her and offered to put her up at the b&b and have even offered her a job. But the best part of her new stay has been, after a rough first meeting, she and one of the new owners, Sinclair have forged a friendship. That friendship has the possibility of becoming more, if Sinclair can get himself right and figure out how to let change his disconnect with his feelings.
Sinclair has spent his life trying to obtain his father's approval. But after meeting Lavender and having some heart to heart talks with her, he's starting to want a different way of life. If he can get his head right, connect with his feelings, he just might become the man he is deep inside, and the man his new friend Lavender, deserves.
I've been loving these shorter stories about Kentbury. The newest one, Lavender and Sin's, is fabulous! They're 2 people with some inner demons, who strike up a friendship that naturally evolves into more. The journey to more is heartfelt, a little spicy, and ends on such a sweet note. I don't know who's next to fall in love in Kentbury, but I'm looking forward to it.

Claudia Burgoa has done it again! I absolutely loved Summer in Kentbury, an incredible small-town friends to lovers love story, the fourth book in her Kentbury Tales series. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Claudia Burgoa continues to show that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. It was impossible to put Summer in Kentbury down, and I loved every moment on every page. One of my favorite parts is how the title of the book is incorporated into the love story. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. Summer in Kentbury is the story of Lavender Wilde, founder of LuxLumens, a lighting design company and Sinclair McFolley. Lavender learns that her ex is marrying the woman he cheated on her with and is trying to take her business. Her sister Ruby suggests she head to their summer house in Kentbury until the ownership of LuxLumens is verified as her company. Sinclair’s brother, Paul, who lives in Kentbury suggested that Sinclair come to Kentbury to help with swim lessons at summer camp that they are opening, and to get to know their grandmother, Genie. Sinclair wants to get away from Boston because his ex-wife, Clara is getting remarried. I love the conversation between Clara and Sinclair, it is heartbreaking. Lavender decides to head to Kentbury and packs up her belongings. When she arrives at their summer house, she learns that the Wilde family no longer owns the house. Her parents sold the house to the McFolleys for use as a summer camp. Lavender meets Paul, Mac, Lou and Sinclair and they inform her of the change in ownership and that they will put her up at the B&B. The following morning, Lavender calls her sister, Ruby who encourages her to date, she is making a remark about Sinclair only to discover that he is behind her. This leads to a challenge between the two. I love how Sinclair calls Lavender, “Lavi.” After a heart-to-heart conversation over breakfast, Lavender shares her secrets regarding her last relationship and the status of her company’s ownership. Sinclair offers to ask his brother to help her with her battle. I love everything that Sinclair wants to do to help Lavender. I love how Sinclair reveals secrets about his marriage and his relationship with father and his company. I love the banter in the text stream between Lavender and Sinclair, and how they get to know one another through the text stream, and how their relationship changes. I love how Lavender tells him that he lost the challenge since he did not stay for two weeks. When Sinclair returns to Kentbury to help with the summer camp, things change between them. I love all the changes that Lavender and Sinclair make in their lives to have a life with one another. I love that neither one of them was looking for love and yet somehow found it. Another favorite part of a Claudia Burgoa love story is always the epilogues that it is the perfect ending of their love story. I love how Claudia Burgoa always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. Summer in Kentbury is filled with the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments that I have come to love and expect in a Claudia Burgoa love story, and she did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. I love the characters in Summer in Kentbury, they feel like family and friends. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I loved catching up with Paul, Mac, Bishop and Sinclair. Who does not love a family that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Summer in Kentbury, who does not love a small-town friends to lovers love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story and am so looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I received an advance copy from the author.
Wonderful Story & Narration🎧Heartfelt & Delightful!
Summer in Kentbury Kentbury Tales Book 4 By: Claudia Burgoa Narrated by: Connor Crais, Grace Grant
It is great to be back in Kentbury for another amazing tale, a heartwarming small town romance that is captivating from start to end. There is nothing like a summer romance, even for those who were not looking and never saw it coming. This fourth book of the series is Lavender and Sinclair McFolley’s story and it packs a whole lot of story for a novella sized book, one I could not get enough of. Lavender needs to get away and goes to their family’s home in Kentbury, but as she is settling in she gets unexpected visitors, the new owners. Her parents never told her they sold the home and the new owners were understanding of her mistake, but the brother who did not seem to fit in was not. Sinclair is a busy man, but he made some time to help his siblings run a summer camp, besides he could use the break, especially after hearing his ex is getting remarried. It was great to watch Lavender and Sinclair get to know each other, and even find themselves. I loved how everything played out, and the dialogue and back-and-forth banter were brilliant, both in person and via text. This wonderfully written and plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, charm, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn and steamy romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride. Escapism at its best, an enjoyable summer romance to enjoy anytime of the year!
🎧📚🎧 The perfect pairing, Connor Crais and Grace Grant, did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role. Crais nailed it as Sinclair, perfectly grumpy to so much more, and Grant was just as fabulous as Lavender, grasping all aspects of her personality. Both were equally amazing performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already fantastic story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
Looking for a delightful escape that feels like a sun-soaked afternoon with a glass of lemonade in hand? Look no further than "Summer in Kentbury" by Claudia Burgoa. This charming novella is the perfect summer snack, packed with fluffy, lighthearted fun and zero heartache!
Claudia Burgoa has crafted a sweet, feel-good story that centers on the adorable characters of Kentbury. The story revolves around Sinclair, a workaholic driven by a desire to prove himself to his father, leaving little room for love in his life. His world collides with Lavender's since Lavi plans to spend the summer in her parents' old lake house, only to find that it has been sold to Sinclair and his siblings. This unexpected twist brings them together in a quaint, picturesque setting where sparks begin to fly.
Sinclair undergoes a transformation that, let's be honest, happens quicker than a popsicle melting in the summer sun. While this rapid change might feel a bit rushed, it's easy to overlook, considering the novella's format. A tad more enemies-to-lovers banter and some push-and-pull would have added a delicious tension to Sinclair's journey, but hey, we can't have everything in such a compact story, right?
Our leading lady, Lavender, is the perfect mix of relatable and lovable, making her the ideal protagonist for a breezy read. Her interactions with Sinclair are often hilarious, sometimes touching, and always engaging. The chemistry between them is undeniable, even if their path to romance feels more like a sprint than a marathon.
"Summer in Kentbury" doesn't aim to break your heart or leave you in suspense—it's all about the joy of simple pleasures and the magic of new beginnings. If you're in the mood for a quick, heartwarming read that will leave you smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, this novella is your go-to.
In a world where we sometimes need a break from the heavy and the dramatic, Claudia Burgoa delivers a delightful reprieve. Grab your favorite summer drink, find a cozy spot, and let "Summer in Kentbury" whisk you away to a place where life is a little sweeter and love is always in the air.
3.75-4 stars for this charming, light-hearted read that’s as refreshing as a cool breeze on a hot summer day!
*I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving the ARC didn't affect my opinion of the book.
SUMMER IN KENTBURY is the fourth book in the Kentbury Tales series. Get ready for this emotionally charged second chance, slow-burn tension with its angst. I was totally captivated throughout this page-turning story with its drama, witty banter, push and pull, heart-gripping, and steamy love scenes. This is Sinclair McFolley and Lavender (Lav) Imogen Wilde‘s story.
Sinclair works for his father's company, and he is a workaholic who thinks he is a failure with no emotions since his divorce from his ex-wife. “I divorced her at twenty-eight because she couldn’t be attached to the Tin Man for the rest of her natural life. I’m emotionally unavailable, married to my job, Daddy’s little pet . . . take your pick.” Lavender and her fiance (Theodoric (Theo) Standish), who is now her ex-fiance, are business partners for the company, LuxLumen, the bespoke lighting design venture. After his betrayal and unfaithfulness, Lavender fled to the small town she grew up in (Kentbury) where she always felt safe and happy. “My ex is marrying the woman he cheated on me with, and they’re trying to use our business to fund their wedding.” Once the investigation into Lavender’s company is complete, she hopes to find some solitude and happiness once again at her parent’s home—until she meets Sinclair McFolley!
Soon, Sinclair is enamored by the sassy, feisty, and obstinate beautiful Lavender. There is a reason why Sinclair doesn’t want another committed relationship, but what happens when the lines become blurred and you don’t know what is true or false? As these two spend more time together, Sinclair and Lavender realizes that beneath their opposite exteriors, they have more in common than they thought. This slow building romance is packed with so much sexual tension. Will Sinclair and Lavender get their HEA? Find out what happened—what a conundrum! If you are looking for a story with all the feels, this one is for you. I rated four stars because I wanted to hear more about Lavender’s ex-fiance and if there could have been more drama because of the investigation with the company and if Sinclair would have intervened on Lavender’s behalf. Claudia Burgoa writes a dynamic story about love, forgiveness, acceptance, and family. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is book four in The Kentbury Tales Series and it is Lavender and Sinclair’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. When Lavender found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her and now engaged to the woman who he cheated on her with after telling her he wasn’t marrying material while trying to take away Lavender’s business that she built herself which has left Lavender upset, angry and determined to keep her business so when her sister suggests that Lavender takes a breather and go to Kentbury and stay at their parents home she decides to do that so that she can get perspective while trying to move forward after betrayal. Sinclair doesn’t believe in love especially after his marriage fell apart ending in divorce and he had to pay her money every month until she gets married again which had left Sinclair cynical about love and marriage in general and will not be doing that again because he is a total workaholic and then his brother Paul asks him to help at the summer camp that he runs in Vermont which actually gave Sinclair just what he needed to do while looking at his life. When Lavender arrived at her parents lake house she is shocked to find that her parents had sold the house leaving her with a problem because she now had nowhere to stay and she couldn’t go back home because she had already rented out her apartment and that is when she ended up staying at the B & B and it was also where Sinclair was staying as well. When Lavender and Sinclair meet there is definitely tension between them but also there is a attraction and connection that is so strong and unable to be denied so will the magic of Kentbury work on Lavender and Sinclair giving them the happiness and future that they both want and deserve. This really is a beautiful story that will pull you in and keep your attention throughout and I absolutely loved it so much because it just shows that when you find the right person to love anything is possible and everything else just follows. Claudia Burgoa is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers engaged in her stories and will also have you turning the pages because you are unable to put her books down and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book stars Sinclair McFolley, he is a new character in the series but is related to two of the previous book series characters, Mckay and Lou.
Here is the reading order to this series:
Knightly and Landon in Christmas in Kentbury McKay and Bishop in Fall in Kentbury Lou and Henry in Love in Kentbury Sinclair and Lavendar in Summer in Kentbury
Sinclair McFolley was married at 23 to Clara and his marriage fell apart and they were divorced 5 years later. Now he is 33 and his ex is remarrying and she tries to tell him there is more to life than work and he should find his happy place. Thats when his siblings call and invite him to come visit them in Kentbury and join their new venture, a camp they are creating, and they want him to be their new camp swim teacher.
Lavendar is having a rough start to her summer with an ex who cheated and is now engaged and who is causing work issues. She decides to head back to her old hometown of Kentbury. She had many summers at the family house but have not visited in a long time. When she arrives, she learns it has been sold to the McFolley siblings.
Lavendar has a sister named Ruby who growing up was close with McKay and Knightly. Because the house is sold, she ends at the town B and B, which is also run by Knightly. Sinclair is staying there too and they end up getting friendly but both are just at the same place temporarily.
They have these really awesome convos and spend time together and share a big connection and attraction. But he is not what she want for her future and he is really trying to find himself. They sort of form a support group of two and I adored watching them interact with each other and ask the hard questions.
This is a novella but reads as a whole novel. I really found both characters very sexy and I loved watching them really get each other. I was so rooting for them as they form this great support system that they have never had before.
The Kentbury novellas are always a highlight for me and Summer In Kentbury (Kentbury Tales #4) is a lovely and adorable treat.
The McFolley siblings are slowly invading Kentbury and so far so good. And now the grumpy, workaholic (who also can’t seem to get from under his father’s cruel thumb) known as Sinclair McFolley has joined his siblings for a couple of weeks to help with the summer camp they started. Although he’s smart, sexy and business savvy, he’s also broken and cynical as can be about love. Lavender is on a man strike and rightfully so, since her ex told that he’s not “marriage material” and broke up with her. And she very much wants marriage and children. Yet shortly after the break up, he gets engaged to her friend and former employee who he cheated on Lavender with. Oh and if that isn’t bad enough, they are suing Lavender to take her bespoke lighting design business away from her. A business that she created and put all her money and effort into. Her parents own a lake house in Kentbury and considering that her life is currently a shit show, she’s needs the tranquility and peace that only this magical place can provide.
Just as Lavender thinks things can’t get any worse, she discovers that her parents sold their lake house to the McFolley siblings who are using it for the summer camp. And after her and Sinclair’s entertaining and witty, meet cute banter at the lake house, I was even more invested in their story. I needed them to break each other’s walls down and let the Kentbury magic do its thing. Their connection was palpable and was brewing up to something good.
Summer In Kentbury is a sweet and charming strangers to lovers novella with low angst that will definitely fill your heart with joy. I am delighted with this five star, summer must read and I highly recommend reading it.
This is the fourth book in the Kentbury Tales series and it is a quick, enjoyable read that I read and listened to the audiobook as well. Sometimes the best thing a person can do is to return home to regroup and think about what step to take next. This is where Lavender finds herself after a scathing betrayal by her boyfriend. Unfortunately, there have been some changes…starting with her childhood home. Sinclair is a workaholic who is in need of some serious r&r and some perspective when it comes to his life and dealing with his past. Fortunately, he winds up in Kentbury where he has that opportunity. From Lavender and Sinclair’s initial meeting they are none to pleased to have to deal with their current situation. As they are thrown together, they start talking and their relationship grows from there. Not sure if there is something in the water, but there is just something special about Kentbury and these characters. The highlight, for me, was the text messages back and forth that demonstrate the natural progression of getting to know a person and forging a bond. Ms. Burgoa pens those characters that feel like friends with depth as they navigate their world, make choices and deal with the consequences while filled with love. Narrators Connor Crais and Grace Grant do a wonderful job brining the characters to life as the listener is able to feel all of the emotions that the characters go through. Their blended voices took the storyline to another level. If you are looking for a small town, friends to lovers storyline then this is one to add to your shelf.
I really enjoyed listening to the wonderful narration by Grace Grant and Connor Crais! Grant's voice and intonations are so gleeful even as she expresses deeper emotions and Crais easily portrayed Sinclair from broody to charming and swoony. They were absolutely perfect as Lavender and Sinclair, and I was completely absorbed in their performance. I really enjoyed this heartwarming story, with all it's feels, and it had me smiling big when I was finished.
Time has arrived for another visit to Kentbury, Vermont, in book #4 of the Kentbury Tales series. SUMMER IN KENTBURY is another wonderful, heartwarming, slowburn, small town romance.
Lavender Wild's life in New York had gone from bad to worse, so she's packing up and heading to her childhood home by the lake in Kentbury. She there to have some much-needed down time and a chance to regroup. Sinclair McFolley has always been a workaholic, putting his job before everything else. His family have finally convinced him to help them with the opening of their new summer camp for children, so off to Kentbury he goes.
When Lavender arrives at her childhood home not everything is as she expected, it's been sold. She meets the McFolley siblings and accepts a job at their summer camp. When Lavender and Sinclair meet there is attraction and spark, however there's also a little bit of snark. As a friendship develops between them Lavender challenges Sinclair to spend his entire summer at the camp, unfortunately he's called back to work. Their relationship continues to build via texts, which have some wonderful banter. I enjoyed the ease of their friendship, the support and encouragement they gave each other.
SUMMER IN KENTBURY was a sweet, quick and easy read written in Ms. Burgoa's smooth flowing style. There were plenty of laughs and some sizzling heat. It was a story which had me smiling all the way through.
I just finished reading Summer in Kentbury, and I have to say, it's a delightful small-town romance that delivers a sweet yet spicy love story. The book follows Lavender, a woman seeking refuge in the quaint town of Kentbury after a personal setback, and Sinclair, a local business owner who crosses paths with Lavender and finds himself drawn to her.
As I read, I found myself drawn into the narrative, which is well-paced and builds up the romantic tension between the two lead characters as they navigate their insecurities and doubts. Burgoa skillfully portrays the developing connection between Lavender and Sinclair, capturing the nuances of their relationship with authenticity. The author's descriptive writing brings the picturesque town of Kentbury to life, making it an inviting setting for this charming romance.
While the plot may not break new ground in the genre, Burgoa's engaging storytelling and the likable protagonists make Summer in Kentbury a thoroughly enjoyable read. As a fan of contemporary romance, I appreciated the book's blend of heartwarming moments and steamy chemistry between the lead characters.
Overall, Summer in Kentbury is a delightful summer romance that earns a solid 4-star rating from me. Claudia Burgoa has crafted a sweet, yet deliciously spicy, love story set in a quaint small-town backdrop, perfect for readers seeking an escapist, feel-good romance. If you're looking for a charming, feel-good read, I highly recommend picking up Summer in Kentbury.
Summer in Kentbury is one of the cute short stories I have ever read… an adorable vacation time romance between an adorable couple.. This book was perfect. The story hooked me from starting till the end. It is one of the most comforting summer time romance I would choose for a picnic or vacation. Short, cute and a fun read…
Lavender is a small town girl living in a big city living her dreams.. After a heartbreak she decides to go for a vacation to her childhood lake house in Kentbury to find peace and happiness. She belives that Kentbury holds a divine power to heal and has a way to give everyone what they need. Although the situation turns out be different and difficult because the she gets to know that her parents have sold the house to McFolleys last summer without having a word with her. I love how the McFolleys understand the situation and with love, care and comfort they accept Lavender as a part of their family.
Sinclair is a grumpy billionaire who is always drowned in his office work and under the pressure of his father for years. His failed marriage was one of the turning point of his emotions. He shared his feelings with Lavender and the best part was how the McFolleys are there to understand and support each other even if it leads to crossing of boundaries.
Claudia Y. Burgoa has done a tremendous job.. I loved the book!!! Thank you so much @theauthoragency and @claudia_b30 for this amazing ARC!!!❤️
I loved getting to know another of the McFolly siblings. Surprisingly, Sinclair was open to the criticism and life advice he was given by his ex-wife and family, it was the right time for him to listen as he struggled to determine what was missing in his life. He and Lavender were both in the right frame of mind and place at the same time. She was struggling to deal with her ex’s betrayal while he faced his ex-wife moving on and trying to figure out how he failed in their marriage. I loved how even with the chemistry they felt, they became friends and shared their fears, failures and secrets with each other and really got to know each other before they became a couple. They both spent the time to understand what was wrong in their previous relationships and what they needed to do to avoid that going forward. Once they kissed, their relationship was strong, and they knew they would put in the work to keep it that way. As always, Claudia Burgoa gives us fully fleshed out characters with strengths and weaknesses who don’t always make the right decisions, but they always work it out in the end. I loved the glimpses we got of the other characters from Kentbury throughout this book and the rest of the series. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lavender and Sinclair oh boy! I absolutely love Lavender she is such an interesting lead, super strong FMC that gets screwed over and pushes past it! Sinclair you want alpha brooding type that’s never been in love. Take family control but push through it! The building is so good where the characters are completely pushed out of their comfort zones it’s quite funny to be honest. If you want an interesting small town read with romance and unexpected twists this is the book for you. The way the author describes Kentbury it actually makes you feel like you’re there and would do anything to experience it yourself! 4.5 stars-Kerin
OMG Claudia has done it again! The way she takes these small towns and makes them sound like an absolute paradise is unreal. I completely fell in love with Kentbury and wanted to move there myself. My heart absolutely broke for Lavender when she learned that her parents had sold their beloved lake house. However, she was definitely forced to decide what was important to her in the healing process since she wasn't able to go back home right away. When she meets Sinclair there's definitely an opposites attract kind of situation going on and I love the banter that happened between the two of them. Watching their friendship build was my favorite part of this story. The writing is amazing and the characters are fantastic. I was drawn in from the second I started reading and dying to know how everything was going to work out. This is a must-read book for sure! 5 stars-By Alisa
I absolutely love the Kentbury Tales series. I love anything with a small town setting, I miss living in a small town. Summer In Kentbury just may be my favorite so far. A friends to lovers slow burn that kept me invested in the story. The chemistry between them is undeniable from the beginning but it takes awhile before it gets spicy. Love the main characters and how they pretty much balance each other out, the perfect couple with the perfect ending.- Elizabeth
