Archangel Reyla is a low-key Archangel enjoying a quiet afterlife of slaying shadowlings, granting human wishes... and crocheting. Out of the blue, she gets a text from Archangel Gabriel, who she's never met before. Because of her high rating and aptitude for fighting (Reyla's great with a bow), she's being scouted as a possible member of The Echelon, an elite group of Archangels who are privy to the afterlife's secrets.
Archangel Gabriel will be in charge of training Reyla, as well as another Echelon candidate named Mikah. Gabriel makes her nervous, and Mikah is critical of her in a way that's highly frustrating. Not only that, she doesn't want the extra attention! Still, Reyla decides to undergo the special training to sate her curiosity. After all, what's the worst that could happen?
School for Loneliest Archangel features a more adult set of characters, while retaining the spirit (pun intended) of the series.
I'm a rather reclusive author living in Ohio with four cats. I write super fluffy fluff and darkest grim grimdark. "This author has a strange imagination" was my favorite compliment ever. I hope my strange imagination entertains someone out there!
I LOVE this whole series! And, though Aron Lewes describes Loneliest Angel as having a more "adult" feel than the rest of the series, I thought it fit right in line with the rest of the books.... And I loved them all!!! I really love the world of the School for Spirits and I appreciate how we get to see characters from previous installments playing roles in newer books. I really think Aron's character development is wonderful and I love all of the angels that have been featured - Reyla and Mikah being among my favorites! I would highly recommend Loneliest Angel, and the whole School for Spirits series, to anyone who enjoys reading: fantasy, especially including angels; stories with sweet, sympathetic characters and wholesome romance; and series with amazing world-building and character development throughout the series.
I absolutely loved this 9th book in the Spirit School series, to which I am totally hooked. I love the stories of the afterlife, stories of hope as well as redemption, and this story is about Reyla, a timid young woman in life, who proved to be very capable in death. She is so highly rated as an archangel and a spirit guide who always gives her charges what they ask for, that she is contacted by archangel Gabriel to be tested for the Echelon. The Echelon is the highest in the hierarchy in heaven and she never dreamt she could be considered to join. Gabriel was concurrently testing another archangel and pitting them one against the other, however Micah kept trying to put her down and he was always sullen. They were to help take down Maledarchs which were demons from the pits of hell, but ones considered to be demonic echelons. These tests were no mean feat but Reyla was damned if she would let someone as grumpy as Micah to bring her down. This girl has courage and a lot of grit and I love that she rises to the occasion as she uses her bow and arrows to perfection. I love the surprise twist in this book and I am hoping against hope that there will be more books written in this series.
Oh my this book was really wonderful and with a twist. I love the characters Reyla and Mikah and the story line was really good though I missed the fact that we didn't get to see some of the other archangels from the other books just Gabriel. Who I hope finds his own true love. This book was well paced and so well written. I love this series.
I didn’t mentioned that I loved this book? Lewes once again shows me that afterlife does not sound so bad! Please read Aron Lewes, you won’t regret it at all
