Fated Mates of the Varool #4

Possessed by the Alien Protector

Rate this book
I lost my family and my world. I will not lose my precious fated mate.

EVE

All my life, everyone told me I’m no one special, that I could be nothing special. When an accident left me scarred, even love seemed out of reach.

Now war is here, and our alien allies discover I have a new skill that will help in the fight. I’m a crack shot, a sniper.

And I’m his.

A powerful warrior born to command, Tren’s shockingly handsome and the last Varool I’d ever expect to claim me. His touch makes me burn for the first time in my life, but I worry he only wants me for the children I can give him.

TREN

As Lord Protector of the Varool, I must cleanse our new world of the insectoids before they destroy us all, just as they have killed our women and robbed me of ever having younglings.

Then a musky, sweet scent surrounds me, setting both my hearts beating. Eve is the fated mate I never thought to find. Pleasingly soft and ripe, she is ready to bear many children. She comes deliciously alive at my touch.

Yet to create such a future for us and our new family, I must take her into danger. The longer we fight side by side, the more I worry our enemy will once again destroy everything I hold dear.

Possessed by the Alien Protector is a steamy romance featuring a fierce alien warrior determined to continue his family line and a scarred, untouched heroine, who needs to learn her own strengths. There’s plenty of adventure and a guaranteed HEA.

A MUST READ series for anyone that loves alien romance!
*****
Rating: 5 stars
Steam: 3 flames
Genre: Sci-Fi Romance, Aliens, Strong Curvy Heroine, Fated Mates
*****
For Sagittarian One, the Varool and Humans are fighting the Folri. Human females are now being tested to see if they can help in the impending battle and if they are mates to any of the warrior Varool.

Tren is everyone's protector, always putting others and the mission first. He is ready to do his duty and fight on the planet, but due to treaty requirements, he must be mated/married before he can travel there. He's met a lot of female warriors, and he's starting to lose hope that he'll find his fated mate and the love he has seen from the King, Prince, and Duke.

Eve is insecure, scarred from an accident, and incredibly caring. She is willing to go to any length to support the mission and make a difference. When she completes the Varool's simulation tests, she discovers she possesses unrivaled sniper abilities. She now needs to marry in order to travel to the planet... but her insecurities are front and center. Will one of these handsome aliens want her? She is about to find out what happens when a Varool scents his mate...

I absolutely love the fact that the strong female characters in this series never have to change who they are for their fated mate and the alien males are swoony protectors that want their females to thrive and they never squash their ambition or desires.

I was once again wowed by the characters, the world-building, and the plot. I was immediately drawn into this story and couldn't stop turning the pages, which put me in a dilemma because I didn't want the book to end. As an added bonus, we get glimpses of some of our favorite characters from previous books!

Possessed by the Protector is a brilliant and unique sci-fi/alien romance that receives my highest recommendation. In my opinion, this is a must-read book/series!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: fated mates
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

If you're looking for a lighthearted and sweet read, Possessed by the Alien Protector is exactly what you're looking for! Eve Lombardi is a curvy girl who works as a metal worker on the space ship circling Saggitarian One. When the Faroolians board the ship, Lord Protector Tren claims she is his fated mate and will join him on a mission to the planet. Eve starts to develop feelings for Tren and is excited by the prospect of eventually having her own family, but worries Tren only wants her to have children.

Another super cute and smexy read by Krista Luna! Both this story as well as the overall story arc between stories is interesting and keeps me coming back for me. The relationship development is sweet in it's wonderful to see how Tren builds Eve up and falls in love with her independent of their "fated mates" attraction. Can't wait to see who is up next in the series!

FMC gains her confidence

I liked this book the best out of the series I’ve read so far. Eve was a shy curvy woman with low self confidence and a tumultuous relationship with her mother. Tren was a confident leader who was not great at communicating. Tren helped Eve on her journey to higher self esteem, but Eve did most of the heavy lifting.
I was a little unsure about how Eve came to be a naturally talented sniper and was missed for military training, but trusting the author paid off.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: violence, gore, fat phobia, permanent scars, grief, pandemic (off page)

Love how this series just keeps getting better and better. Book #4 Possessed by the Alien Protector is another wining story in the continuing saga of the Varool/Human fight against the invading insectoid Folri.
This book features Tren and Eve and succeeded on all levels to keep this reader engaged and immersed throughout their story.
With the Humans and Varool now on the fast-track in the integration process of their two species every human female 18 to 40 is now being assessed for fighting skills and mating compatibility with Varoolian males. With only mated couples allowed to join the fight on the planet
Sagittarian One as stipulated in the Human/Varool peace treaty. Eve is worried though as it was now the females on her vessel the Kasimov's turn for testing and she has plenty of doubts regarding her abilities to be selected.
No one is more surprised and prouder of herself when she tests for perfect sniper abilities.
The icing on the cake becomes the mate bond that triggers with handsome Lord Protector of the Varool, Tren.

Another perfect couple and excellently written prose join the ranks with action, adventure and lots of steamy love scenes. With its intense, imaginative storyline the reader will be pulled in and held captive until arriving at this couples HEA. Can’t wait for the next!!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Possessed by the Alien Protector by Krista Luna is a sci-fi romance. It's the fourth book from the Fated Mates of the Varool series.

Since those horrendous bugs were so hard to defeat Admiral Hutchins had announced a new initiative to get ready to fight them. Every heterosexual woman between eighteen and forty that was a good fighter would marry an alien right away so they could defend the planet. Eve Lombardi belonged to the Kasimov crew. The day came for them to take the test but she didn't worry at all since none of the career-placements tests she had taken had known what to do with her. She finally found what she was good at, her new position was a sniper. The next step was to find her mate and train. To her surprise, her fated mate was Lord Protector Tren. After their mating
session, they went to Sagittarian One to test the new weapon against the Folri.

This series is getting better and better. In this one there is more action and we get to see more of the technology the Varoolians own. The romance is fast-paced and very steamy. The action/suspense is very exciting. I love that the story progresses slowly with each
book and we have something to wait for. I like that each couple gets to have their own unique pet. The characters have great chemistry and are compatible in and out of the bedroom. My favorite part was when the girl saves the big Varoolian.

I enjoyed this book a lot and devoured it in a couple of hours. I highly recommend it and I will rate it with 5 stars.

This book was amazing and I loved all the characters old and new and the series is 4 books but I hope there will be more of the fated mates of the Varool. This book is about Lord Protector Tren and Eve Lombardi and how they came to be fated mates and make a great team together. Eve is a maintenance worker on Chandra Station and after an accident which left her with scars that only her best friend has seen she never thought she was good enough for any of the skills the Varool needed. But she was a single female and had to be tested again for skills in the fight against the evil Folri and when Eva sees the hot warrior in charge she wonders what it would be like to be his and so Eve tests again even though she did it at age 12 and failed but this time as it turns out she is the best and high scoring sniper they have and to go down to Sagittarian One to fight she must be mated to a Varool Warrior, now lining up with the other females that passed as the Varool warrior’s walk past them to find there mates and the ones not picked will do it again when the new warriors arrive. Lord Protector Tren is over seeing all test and is very pleased when he reads the results and wants to meet there newest sniper and as it turns out it was the female he noticed before and when she gets close and they touch his second auxiliary hearts start beating for the first time and he knows she is his fated mate and must consummate there union so they can land on the planet. Never in a million years did Eve think she would get a male like the sexy warrior before her and now she is scared because no one has seen her naked with her ugly scars maybe he should pick someone else but does she want him too. When Tren sees her naked for the first time he loves every part of her including her scars and Eve falls for him because he doesn’t look at her differently she only sees lust and passion in his eyes. Now mated they can with every other couple go down to save there new planet from the evil Folri that has put scouts on it and defeat them once and for all or do they fail. There is so much more to this book that I could have written a few different reviews but this is what I wrote to find out what happens with all our mates past and present get this book and the rest in the series I know you won’t be disappointed.

Krista Luna is exceptional when it comes to worldbuilding, character development, and story progression. Her storyline sucked me in right from the start. You are on an incredible journey when you venture in to one of Krista Luna’s books. She has a way of writing that makes you feel like you are in the story yourself. I absolutely love Eve. She is so caring and fierce. I loved being able to experience Sagittarian One with her. The writing was so great, I really felt Eve’s joy and awe. I am just as much in love with Tren. As the Lord Protector of the Varool, he’s powerful, strong, and honorable. He has a duty and a mission he won’t be deterred from and is protective of his people. He is just as protective with Eve. His passion for her was possessive and all consuming. As strong and fierce as he is, he’s so kind and thoughtful when it comes to her. He sees right through her scars and insecurities; he sees Eve for the beautiful human she is. Eve comes alive in this story and Tren is there to support her every step of the way. Their chemistry is undeniable and steamy. They’re not just a great couple, but a great team. This book has lots of danger, action, and suspense. I couldn’t put it down! What a fantastic addition to this series! Thank you so much Krista Luna for gifting me this unique and exciting book in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the overall plot of this book. And I liked how it fit in with the overall story of this series. I liked the characters a lot. Especially Eve. And I liked she had a background that included uncomfortable things, a bit of family drama and a supportive friendship. She felt well rounded for the most part.

And I really felt for her with her doubts about Tren. It hit on something that I have been bothered about in this series. I know its 'romance reasons' but there is an acknowledgement that not all the females are straight, and cis. Not to mention all the women who may not be fertile. But this book and Tren's focus on wanting a child especially, made me really sad for all the human women who thought they had finally found a planet but will still die on a ship. They will never know the joys that the other females have found in weather and gravity and decent food. And it's all because they aren't straight, cis, and fertile. Though, I have hope that since a there is a general diversity of humans and aliens mentioned they won't be forgotten. A series that includes trans aliens, which I have NEVER seen before, will make sure every one is taken care of and find their own HEAs.

Which is why I feel so torn, because I really liked the story outside of the problems and sadness I felt. I totally lost myself in the story and all it's action and heat and sweetness. And happiness at seeing old characters again.

But then I was reminded at the end when her doubts were only vaguely resolved, without any proper acknowledgment or discussion. So it's hard to rate the book properly for me. But since the book itself was good and the problems are more systemic I am sticking with 4 stars.

This book is so full of dangers, adventures and love. The story pulled me in like I was there. Tren and Eve were one of the sweetest fated mates I’ve read. Tren was so ready to be a family man and he accepted Eve for the strong woman she is. Eve had doubted herself all her life and with scars on her body she felt unworthy of finding love , but Tren changed all that for her. They fell deep in love and fought for a future together.

Eve and Tren's Story . . .

The Varool and Humans are in a fight to get rid of the insectoid Folri enemy. As part of the treaty, human females are currently being tested for a skill set to help in the actual fighting as well as being a possible mate for one of the warrior Varools. Only a mated pair is allowed to step onto the planet Sagittarian One to fight the Folri.

Tren is the Lord Protector of the Varool and is a wonderful character. He is a protector who puts the people and mission first. He is a powerful fighter, honorable and fair. But he cannot proceed to fight on the planet until he finds his mate. His strong desire for a family and his fated mate is making him anxious and worried he will not find her.

Eve Lombardi is on the next ship being tested for skills and mate-compatibility. She is insecure because she was scarred in an accident and she has never shown any previous skill aptitude in the past. But she is a caring person who wants to do her part to help. To her delight, and a great boost to her confidence, the Varool's simulation tests uncover superior sniper abilities that make her invaluable. But will any of the aliens want her? And if her mate turns out to be Tren, will he only want her for the children she can give him? Or will their love carry them to a perfect HEA together?

🔥 “See me. See my skin of two colors. If I am perfect, then so are you.”
~~~
Eve is such an amazing woman! After an incident, she’s left scarred and full of insecurities. But she’s such a kind, caring and courageous woman. Even more, after being chosen to train as a sniper, she turns out to be an absolute badass! And it was so heartwarming to witness her pure joy and awe when she first stepped on Sagittarian One. I adored her so much!
And Tren is such a magnificent male! The Lord Protector of the Varool is strong, powerful, honorable, dangerous and fiercely protective. And I loved his possessive and passionate side. Even more, he’s so supportive and thoughtful. I absolutely loved him!
Everything that happened between Eve and Tren was so perfect. It was so inspiring to see Eve discovering herself and her strengths. And Tren’s support during her journey was amazing. Those two were so perfect for each other and their chemistry was undeniable from the first moment they met. Even more, they were such a spectacular team and I loved how protective they were of one another. I just love it when a fierce woman gets to save the badass warrior. What I loved even more was that Tren was able to see beyond her scars and show Eve what a magnificent woman she truly is. Their romance was full of blazing hot passion and I couldn’t get enough of both of them.
In addition, the storyline and worldbuilding were fantastic. I think I want a thousand Layvas - that little dragon was so adorable. Even more, the battle against the Folri continues and, with the peace treaty, the Humans and the Varool are speeding up the integration process of the two species to help in the fight. But it is not over yet.
Overall, the story is a magnificent addition to the series. It’s filled with non-stop action, danger, suspense, twists, drama, scorching hot romance and spectacular characters.
I absolutely loved every single page of it!
I’m addicted to these amazing stories and cannot wait to see what happens next!
Once again I loved diving into this alien world! The alien men feel an instant bond to their fated mate, a human woman, and they have to almost immediately consummate the bond. High steam, breeding kink if that’s your jam, and so much emotion! The heroine in this book is scarred and feels unlovable, which just makes their love all the sweeter. The hero thought he would never find his mate and is ecstatic when it’s her. Their relationship isn’t without its faults, but overall it’s a good journey for them both.
I forgot that I was reading!
Tren truly thinks I’m beautiful, scars and all. And for the first time in my life, I was.
Awh! This book hits you right in all the feelings! I love when a book is relatable and Eve is TOTALLY relatable!
Eve was severely scarred while doing a space walk as a teenager and has struggled with her self image. Her mother is a piece of work too. Eve has never found her place on the spacestation so imagine her surprise when she suddenly aces a Varoolian placement test!
Tren is the Protector, it's his job to he the shield between the enemy and his people. The last group of females from the spacestation are brought through placement testing and while he sees potential in some of the females he is disappointed that he doesn't find his fated mate. That is until he meets Eve.
I love that with each book we get a new kind of pet! It's super adorable and it makes each book a little brighter!
***Spoiler Alert***
Eve turns out to be the best sharpshooter in two species .... not the most relatable but every else about her totally is! She's not skinny, she isn't the strongest, but she has the heart of warrior!
Tren is just over the moon for her but because of her scars she doesn't see it. He keeps repeatedly talking about children and she mistakes his desire for a family as her not being loved.
I really like that Tren, though extremely protective, also puts all his faith in her. He throws himself in the heat of battle knowing that she will always have his back.
The ending on this one!! I panicked when I read it and had to jump back and read it again. This was definitely one of those books that I forgot that I was reading and instead of watching.
Probably my 2nd favorite book in the series. I love Grol, I can't help it, but Tren is no slouch.
Tren is the Lord Protector second to The Duke and Warlord Grol of the Verool Empire. He swore to protect her Royal Family as well as train the warrior recruits.
Eve lost her Grandfather a year or so ago. He was a military who got killed by the Folri mutated virus. Hull repair person on the vessel where she was born she was injured at the time of an incident when a meteor came in contact with her ship, killed her partner and burned her leaving burn patches throughout her body rendering her very self-conscious about her body. However, during the trials to find a specialty made for her, she proves that she is probably the best sniper in the entire fleet.profession.
This is what happens when after repairing a exterior hull, she accompanies some of her friends to the admiral's vessel. where the women are subject to meetings with the Valoorian in order if to see if
each and everyone will be mated to a Valoorian male. To prove Kira's theory, she must travel to the planet surface . The treaty conditions are quite clear. She must mate and consumate before being allowed to make The voyage. Prince Lun Storr proposes an officer because Tren is essential to the training of new recruits, but Tren rizes and objects as he claims that Eve is his mate.
The author, through her gift, succeeds in writing a sequel to this great series that carries strong messages. " Don't jump too fast to conclusions."
A great story that I highly recommend as it is a great read. I rate it with 5 Stars.
This is a new author to me but I have loved this book. You don't need to have read the others for this one to make sense but I enjoyed this one so much I'm off to find and read the others!
Eve has always felt that she didn't quite fit in. She didn't do as well as she had hoped during her mandatory testing and has felt rather incomplete ever since. The loss of her grandfather and feeling as though she has nothing to contribute along with scars from her accident have made her feel pretty much invisible. That is all about to change though despite Eve being in the middle of a same shift just a different day scenario. The Varool have requested all females from her ship be sent to them so that they can verify if any of their soldiers have mates among the human women. Eve feels it is pointless that she goes along but she isn't really in a position to refuse. She is just not prepared for what happens next! Lord Protector Tren is weary of the loneliness but he isn't really aware of it until he catches the scent of what could be his mate. It is totally elusive and almost like it is not even there but that is until he walks past te final woman, She is HIS. He just needs to find out why she is holding back from him.
I want to start by saying that Kira still is, in my opinion, the best female character of the series, and she and Tandy are still kicking @ss on this book but, that being said, Eve and Tren are the sweetest of all the four couples.
There isn't a single moment of enemies-to-lovers and forced proximity like we saw on the other books and, with their hearts wide open, we can enjoy all of their commitment to each other without reservations.
Although everything seems to point towards a smooth ride, his sense of duty with his people and her insecurities end up rocking their relationship all while battling the alien race that is trying to kill all of them.
I really enjoyed books 1 and 2 but I absolutely loved books 3 and 4. Probably because I was already comfortable with the world created by Krista Luna and I could really enjoy the fun and engaging rollercoaster that are her stories, so I highly recommend reading them all, even though you don't necessarily need to, and signing her newsletter for the extra epilogues.
This is the fourth book in the Fated Mates of the Varool series and once you have entered this world, you do not want to leave. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the books in order. It seems as If the humans and the Varool are fighting against a common enemy, the Folri, with the added bonus of female humans being tested to see if they could be a Varool’s mate. Tren is the Lord Protector and is tasked with the removal of the Folri. Eve is a woman who has certain quirks and was basically told that she was lacking and would not amount to much. However, when she comes into contact with Tren, all bets are off and the stakes may be changing. Once again, Ms. Luna has penned a steamy storyline that focuses on the growth between Tren and Eve as they learn how to work together. Readers see how Eve comes into her own and learns that she is strong, capable and a force to be reckoned with. Overall, it reinforces the adage that you cannot judge a book by its cover and this is one book to add to your reading list.
I enjoyed this alien romance story with all of the characters. The main characters were Eve and Tren.
Eve is a human woman. That been living with other human on a space ship. When the alien shuttle comes to get some of the woman so that they be wed to an alien male. By being wed to an alien male they can go to some of the plants to fight against the bugs.
Eve can't wait to be wed so that she can fight the bugs. The bugs took her grandfather life and she want to revenge against them.
Tran is an alien male. They also call him the Lord Protector because he protects the Varool. There is a war going on against the bugs that have kill most of the woman and young children of the Varool.  They have teamed up with the human to fight against the bugs and also to have family's.
This was a fun story to read. It had action,adventure, and suspense throughout. It had a few laughs to. It was also some what steamy throughout.
I received a complimentary copy via Booksprout. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
Im really liking the over arcing story. Its moving along at nice clip and not stagnant (like so many in this genre can be). I didn't love this one. It was a bit too sugar sweet for my taste but what really was annoying was the constant need to point out this girls weight and how she just could not believe someone like this "perfect" being could possibly find her attractive. I dont understand why authors do this. I love the inclusivity of body types and races in this series, honest its refreshing that we arent say 6 books in when we FINALLY have mention of a POC but I hate that they always have to be uncomfortable in their skin and then find valadation through a dude that they actually are attractive DESPITE all these bumps and dips, or lack of boobs, or lack of curves ETC.
Just irritates. Overall story is really great, original spin on an over done topic. Makes it worth reaching for book after book.
"My mate was both intelligent and an excellent strategist."
Lord Protector Tren was among those trying to figure out which humans could help fight the Folri, and save both their species. Part of the challenge is helping non-combat personnel they have relevant skills, and the stomach for the job.
Eve is good at her job on the human ship. It is nothing glamorous, but she rocks it. Now, the girl who has never tested well is being asked to take an Alien test, and see if she can be useful in the fight of their lives.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read builds on the previous stories while standing nicely on its own. A great story about thinking we know how others view us and our lives, yet sometimes we don't realize how much we've colored those beliefs and feelings with our own interpretations of events and perspectives.
Good
Tren and Eve
After testing her skills out, Eve finds herself on a Varoolian ship and paired with the lord protector Tren. They have to work together to discover the other Folri bases and try to stop them from destroying Sagittarian I.
Book four in the series has the human-Varoolian alliance going up against the bugs again. This time our human heroine is one who has low self esteem and is very inexperienced. Her trip to the surface is the first time she’s ever spent on planet, and her interactions with the Varool actually build her up into a confident and talented woman, it’s very much a story of finding herself.
Tren, unlike many of the Varool heroes, doesn’t show much hesitation at all. He’s all in, and excited at his chances.
It makes for a sweet and sexy romance, with perhaps the best pet yet!
I loved this book! It's my favorite in the series so far. The story has action, danger, suspense, and drama; but also wonderful characters that I absolutely loved. Eve was just awesome. When being assessed, she discovered her talent as a sniper, but to serve, she'll need to be picked as a mate by one of the Varool. She is scarred and chubby and doubted any of the warriors would want her. She was immediately attracted to Protector Tren but never imagined he'd have any interest in her. She was shocked to be proven wrong when he scented her as his mate and picked her. She was such a strong, good-hearted person and I loved seeing her come into her own and become more confident. Tren was so supportive and a perfect match for her. As always, great world building. I loved it. 5 stars
The humans and Varool and fighting together against the Folri. I love how they are test the human females for mates and to help the Varool with the mission. Tren is a great protector putting the mission and other first. He has to be mated before he can travel to the planet. Eve has some scarring and insecure. When she's tests she finds she is an excellent sniper and the mate bond is sparked with the Lord Protector, Tren. Great story with action, adventure, intriguing storyline, and hot steam. I hope there are more great stories by this author.
I picked this book up because I saw it on an author's Facebook Page and it promised steam and a protective hero with mating instincts and fated mates trope.
It delivered! It was a great read!!! and liked getting to know another dimension and species. I was a little lost - I didn't read the previous books in the series, it might be a good idea to start on book one and go from there to get a better understanding of what is going on.
Tren was a hottie - he was looking for his mate. He finds her in Eve: a curvy, scarred human and their connection is instant.
Great read! I will get the previous books now cause I need to know things. :D
This book 1 in The Fated Mates of the Varool Book Series has an entertaining story with interesting and unique characters. This well written book has strong characters with unique histories set in an intriguing world. It had some very well-thought out scenes. These characters have strong wills and personalities and their interactions are believable. This story is a steamy alien romance featuring a growly alien hero, a smart heroine, and plenty of adventure with a guaranteed HEA This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, action, variety of races, humans, danger, love, steam and a HEA.
I’m loving this alien sci-fi romance, when a virus kills the Varool females and the human men the humans and the Varool sign a contract for the human females to get tested to see if they are compatible with the Varool men to mate with them then the mated pairs go to the planet Sagittarian One to fight against the Folri an insect race that decimates planets and this is Tren’s and Eve’s story. Sorry guys no spoilers but this is a fantastic story I loved it and the characters and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
