Fated Mates of the Varool #5

Possessed by the Alien Renegade

Rate this book
No one will ever want a brutal warrior like me. Yet the beast within demands I claim my fated mate.

MARI

Flying is my life. Our alien allies have the sweetest fighter jets I’ve ever flown. I ace every training flight and qualify for a special mission—learning how to pilot an enemy ship. Everyone agrees I’m the best choice.

Everyone but him.

As the top varoolian pilot, Var’s the warrior I long to impress. But it’s hard to remain professional around the dangerously attractive alien, especially once we’re alone on a small ship. The closer I get to him, the more Var growls. Those growls do things to me—tingly things. I’ve spent my life racing to be first, but this time, I want to be caught.

VAR

I am Varax, not Varool, a berserker straight out of my people’s bloody past. Marked by the stripes on my face, I am doomed to a life alone—an outcast no Varool woman ever wanted.

Then an alluring sweet scent sets both my hearts beating. Mari is my fated mate.

I refuse to shackle the delicate human to a brute like me. Yet our dangerous mission isolates us in close quarters, leaving me no escape from her delectable beauty and captivating personality. As we fight side by side, I do not know which poses the greater threat to Mari—our enemy…

Or my ravenous need to chase and claim and mark her as mine.

Possessed by the Alien Renegade is a steamy, primal, grumpy-sunshine romance featuring a fierce alien warrior who refuses to see his own worth and the spirited heroine determined to prove him wrong. There’s plenty of adventure with a guaranteed HEA.

I seriously want to move to Sagittarian One! I am captivated by all these growly, possessive and devoted heroes… and the heroines are so strong, I absolutely adore them!

Var is the best fighter pilot/scout in the Varool fleet... and Mari's hero. When she is asked to join a dangerous mission in which Var will be involved, she will go to any length to fly with the pilot she admires. Var, on the other hand, is a solitary man, imagine his surprise when he arrives on the ship to find out more about his mission and scents his fated mate. Uh oh…

Var was a beautiful hero who touched my heart. I could feel his loneliness and struggles to my bones, and Mari's enthusiasm leapt from the pages. Both characters quickly drew me in and I couldn’t stop reading until they got their HEA. And… let us not forget Vik… I adored that little fellow! I look forward to the secondary characters as much as I do the primary ones.

As for the plot, as I already stated, I was immediately taken in and invested in the characters... And the fight against the Flori is heating up. I am astounded by Ms. Luna's worldbuilding and visuals in her books. Each new novel draws me deeper into this strange universe.

Not going to lie... I actually cried a couple of times during this book. I was that emotionally invested in the characters. But, my favorite part of all these stories, the women do NOT change who they are for a man... and the man/alien doesn't ask them too. I LOVE THAT!

So... do I recommend? A resounding YES! This entire series is excellent, fresh, creative, and just fantastic, and I can't wait for the next book!

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: fated mates, grumpy/sunshine
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥

Another fantastic chapter in the Fated Mates of the Varool series by Krista Luna - probably my favorite one yet! I think what I like most about Krista Luna's books is that you think you're going to get a quick, light-hearted alien read, but you end up with just so much *more* - but not SO much as to get super bogged down or drained. Absolutely loved the storyline, it moved quickly and had tons of action. The character development is just out of this world. Ha! See what I did there? 😂😂 But really, these characters have a ton of depth and Var just about blew me away. He's so growly and grumpy, but he's really a cinnamon roll for both his pet and his girl and will do whatever he needs to do to protect them. I loved how he was a bit more "primal" than the Varool, too 🥵. Possessed by the Alien Renegade is a complete standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order.

Grumpy Sunshine

Welp this book showed a side of the Varool that was not so pretty: being mistrustful of someone who was one of them but didn’t look the same. I appreciated the deviation from the strict “aliens are superior to humans” propoganda.
Mari was an over the top gregarious ball of sunshine and her man was surly AF and defensive. They were a good fit.
Looking forward to the next book!

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Possessed by the Alien Renegade by Krista Luna is a SciFi romance. It's the fifth book from the Fated Mates of the Varool series.

Mari Patel was the youngest head pilot of the Chandra. Many human pilots were training through a simulator for a long time. Her determination and hard training had paid off. She was chosen by the Varool to train as a fighter pilot with the First Scout Var. He was the top pilot for the Varoolians. She was so excited to meet him in person and work with him. When Var saw her he instantly felt the connection, she was his fated mate. As a Varax was considered a brute and he didn't want to shackle her with him. The days that they spent together in such a close space and her vibrant personality made it hard for him to resist her. In just a few weeks two of her dreams had come
true...

One more great book from this series. A fun read with lots of steamy scenes and action. In this one, we meet the Varax, the long-lost cousins of the Varoolians. Also, we're one step closer to figuring out the enemy. I loved the characters. Var was a grumpy protective alien with a caring heart. Mari was a girl full of sunshine but also a fearless lioness for her mate. They had good chemistry.
I liked how she was the one that went after him. His little pet was so adorable. My favorite scene was when they mated.

I liked this book a lot and I highly recommend it. I will rate it with 4 stars.

Mari and Var's book is só good, we can feel their emotions. Mari is só excited to be on a mission with her pilot hero that She can barely stand in her own flesh and then we have Var that is a solitary person who is shuned by his people because he is diferent, from another tribe... Imagine how surprised he was to be on a mission with a female. Worst? She is his fated mate and he really doesn't want her to suffer like him for being diferent, because if they mate he thinks She Will be ostracised like him... The general plot is heating up and I really want to catch those Flori! Such evil aliens.. great book.

Mari (h), a human fighter pilot, is sent on a special mission with Var (H), a Varax fighter pilot. Mari is unaware that Var is Varax not Varool and that he's looked down upon by them as being less than they are culturally. The two will be in forced closed proximity in his spacecraft making it hard for Var to ignore that Maris is his fated mate. Really great worldbuilding and a lot of action and adventure as the pair battle the Folri enemy, make new friends and explore their relationship with one another.

🔥 “You are far too tempting, my mate. You have no idea what I want to do to you.”
~~~
Mari is the youngest head pilot of the Chandra who’s been chosen by the Varool to train as a fighter pilot. She might be tiny but she’s so fierce, brave and capable. And I really loved that she was so optimistic and eager. Mari is one amazing and badass woman and I loved her so much!
First Scout Var is one angry, growly and grumpy warrior. And he’s the best pilot and scout in the Varool fleet. But his golden eyes and the stripes marking his face, showing his Varax heritage, has made him an outcast. He might prefer to be alone but Var’s loneliness really broke my heart. Nevertheless, he’s one absolutely amazing male! He’s so strong, noble, courageous and willing to put himself in danger for his people. Even more, beneath his gruffness hides such a gentle, caring and sweet male. I couldn’t help but utterly adore everything about this magnificent warrior!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Mari and Var! They’re sent on a dangerous mission to discover how the Folri ships work. I really loved how well they fit together and what an amazing and badass team they were. And from the moment they met, their attraction was undeniable and their chemistry was fantastic. Even more, they were willing to take so many risks for their people and were so fiercely protective of one another. And when they finally gave in to their feelings, the passion they shared was off-the-charts hot. Honestly, being chased by a Varax is hot AF. Oh, I just love it when the alien males go all primal and dominant! Mari and Var were definitely meant to be together and I loved every moment of their journey towards happiness and love.
In addition, the worldbuilding and the storyline were spectacular. I really have a soft spot for alien pets and Kiv was so cute, fluffy, purple and adorable. Even more, I loved that we got to learn more about the Varool and the Varax and their shared history. And I quite liked the Varax! With the new discoveries and alliances, the Varool and the humans might actually be one step closer to dealing with the Folri once and for all.
Overall, the story is another phenomenal addition to the series. It’s filled with non-stop action, danger, suspense, twists, blazing hot romance and characters you will absolutely adore.
I couldn’t put it down and loved it so much!
I’m super excited to see what will happen next!
I loved this book and characters where amazing and the storyline was brilliant and had me staying up late just to finish it and it was totally worth it. And who doesn’t love a grumpy, strong sexy hot dominate alien male. Mari Patel is a human female and the best pilot from Chandra station who is being trained to fly the Varool spacecraft with two others and so far in every simulation she wins and when she fly’s against First Scout Var in the simulation she is excited to be up against her mentor. First Scout Var is a Varax warrior not Varool but they all lived together on the same planet and are cousins and there is only two differences between them there custom’s and the strips but the Varool think they are better than his kind and he gets treated badly for it by them all but Var works with the Varool all the while still searching his people and now warlord Grol has asked him to come in for a very important mission. When he is teamed up with a human female after she beat’s the other out and meets her for the first time and he instantly knows she is his mate but his kind don’t get mates and if he claims her she will be an outcast like him and he want do that too this sexy mate. There mission is to work out how to fly one of the evil Folri spaceship but far away in the void from everyone incase they accidentally call the Folri but working alone together has Var fighting his desires for her every time he is close to her and so to distract her he introduces his pet and companion Kiv who looks like a monkey to her and is adorable and they become fast friends. But what she wants is to get closer to the sexy alien that drives her crazy and when they finally come together it’s like fireworks have gone off and he claims his mate finally. And while they continue to grow as a couple there test sets off a call and another Folri ship turns up and in the fight against them they barely escape with there lives. How does it all turn out, did they get the answers about the Folri ship and what happens when they find out he mated with her and can they keep Kiv a secret from everyone. This book has so much more to it that it will keep the reader up till late but the whole series is a must read in my book. So enjoy.
First let me just say that I’m a bit annoyed that NASA isn’t selling tickets to Sagittarian One yet. Someone needs to tell them to work on that. Any who… yet again, Krista Luna captivates us when the 5th in her Fates Mates of the Varool series. I cannot get enough of this series. Var is the equivalent of a big growly bear. He’s broody, strong, and possessive. But don’t let this big irritable alien fool you. Inside that hard exterior lies a man who is devoted and trustworthy on and off the battlefield. He’s considered an outcast because of his Varax heritage. His days consist of piloting for the Varool fleet, while his nights are filled with loneliness. Being an outcast makes it hard for him to drop his rock-hard renegade persona. In walks Mari to break down his walls. She sees Var for the gentle, noble, and caring man he really is. Mari is a bada$$ in her own right. She’s just as strong and hardworking as Var. Together, they make a dangerous team that no one stands a chance against. Outside of that, their connection continues. Neither can deny the intense attraction and passion they each feel when they are together. I love how fiercely protective they are of each other and their people. I devoured this book. Krista Luna never fails to give us a story that is suspenseful with non-stop action. Full of not only danger, but intensely steamy romance. An absolute MUST read for sci-fi romance lovers! Thank you to the author for gifting me this phenomenal book in exchange for an honest review.
Var is a Veraax and the First Scout of the Verool Empire. His people, close cousins to the Verool, left the Verool planet a long time ago in order to establish their own world and assert themselves. Var was never close to his family and, as a result of their race's departure from the Veroolian Empire, has always been shunned by the Verool, has been ignored by them and denigrated by them. His passion is to explore the stars and his ultimate goal is to find his people. He has but one friend in this world and his name is Kiv, a small purple monkey that is the only survivor of his race. He has sworn not to mate and, specifically, not to mate a human.
Mari's only family is her grandmother who has always supported her in her dreams and the efforts that she makes to achieve them. She is now a pilot and does not hide her dream to explore the stars.
To prove Kira's theory, she is paired with Var to take a Flori ship and to figure out how it works without attracting the bugs if possible. What she doesn't know yet is that they are fated mates.
The author, through her gift, succeeds in writing a sequel to this great series that carries strong messages. " Prejudice and racism is only treasured by those with little minds and no honor."
A great story that I highly recommend as it is one that appealed to me and rate 5 Stars
Possessed by the Alien Renegade is yet another awesome read in this ongoing series of exceptionally well written stories and what takes shape in book #5 with leads Mari and Var in the continuing battle against the alien Forli is mind blowing GOOD reading!
Mari is a fierce warrior in her own right behind the controls of a fighter jet and Var is her definite kindred spirit in every way. Paired for a deadly mission their attraction grows while Var fights against what he feels for Mari doubting she could ever love him because he is a Varax berserker and not a Varool.
Well folks I knew how this was going to go down and what an impressive adventure it turned out to be. Lots of action, suspense, and surprises were packed into one fantastic, ultra-steamy, emotionally engaging Sci-Fi Romance read as this thrill ride totally blasted me away. Loved it!
"I have to prove I’m dependable on all levels."
Mari is a human pilot, eager to pilot one of the alien ships... In part because she was born to fly, and in part because humans are settling down on a new home world and cargo runs are not the type of flying she has in mind.
Var is a scout for the aliens, the best they have. The one Mari can't help wanting to fly with, and the more she gets to know him the more she fears she'll have to impress him if she wants to be partnered with him on a daring mission that could make which difference for both their species.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read deals with miscommunications, assumptions, prejudices, the baggage we carry, the amazing bonds we form, the healing power of friendship, understanding and love.
This book moves the overarching arc forward, expands the world building, and overall is a really enjoyable addition to the series.
Good
Var and Mari
Var is the best pilot in the Varool fleet, but he is also a throwback to the Varax race, and an outcast amongst his own people.
Mari is a gifted human pilot, picked for a special mission with Var to figure out how the Folri ships work.
Var recognizes in Mari, his fated mate; but can he risk passing along his genetics?
This is an interesting book, in which the author manages to make the alien race somewhat racist, and lightly explores the issue within the book.
However, the majority of the story is about Mari and Var experimenting with the Folri ship. I was pleasantly surprised with the fact the author kept the alien ships just that: making it almost impossible for the humans to fly or understand.
Some interesting strides are made and intriguing events occur, which progress the overarching storyline a little too.
An entertaining read for sci-fi romance fans.
This was a wonderful change (slight) in comparison to the other books. The others had almost the same set up besides the mandatory marriage. After that pretty much the same, consummate, go to planet, stumble across new pet, find mini hive at human transmission office, have sex, stalk/kill evil aliens, have sex, argue, open signal, near death, have sex, reduce, pregnancy 🤣🤣🤣. Don't get me wrong I would've felt some kind of way of any one of the pairings had died.
This time the couple is an angry outcast and a bubbly human female with an overbearing mom and the cute pet is already in play and we're having sex in space. I will be honest I was a little more invested in this one as the male was for lack of better word a spin off version (aka cousin) of the aliens in the series. I wished there was more time exploring that side but maybe there will be another series with other pairing.
But a good read nonetheless.
This is an enjoyable alien romance story that is about Var and Mari. I liked the characters, and the storyline was engaging to read. This is a wonderful story that's got steamy romance, lots of drama and action that was intriguing to read. Var is a distinguish solitary fighter pilot in the Varool fleet and Mari's hero, but he also is a Varax not Varool which a lot of Varools look down on. Mari, a human pilot is optimistic, gun-ho and delighted to be on the mission with Var. While getting their assignment Var discovers that Mari is his mate. This makes the mission more complicated as Var struggles excepting Mari because he doesn't want Mari to be looked down upon. Will they succeed in their mission and find their HEA? Enjoyable story that I received via Booksprout that I volunteer to read and review.
- the best thing I’ve ever had in my mouth.” Oh, no! Why did I say it like that?
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Nothing could be sexier than Grol and Krista Luna said BET! HOLY GUACAMOLE, Batman! I literally am going to read this AGAIN just because I missed highlights going in because I got so wrapped up in the book I FORGOT!
HANDS DOWN BEST BOOK OF THE SERIES! Yes, I am shouting that. It has all the feels and then heavy on the dramatically epic climax (pun intended). I seriously was BESIDE myself with angst over the twist in the story!
I usualy give a good review of the book, laying out the plot but this one? No, this one you are just going to have to read for yourself. You will NOT be disappointed!
This book should be ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ six stars! The angst on this on is 😱😱😱😱 and the spice is wonderful at a low 🌶🌶🌶. Makes my top ten list, hands down!
This is an amazing book! Highly recommended!
Huge spoilers in my review.
Okay, I skipped the earlier books because I wanted to read about two pilots fated to each other. I so want that he's Varax, too. I knew about the ending right from the start so I am so glad they have new allies now. I love his friendship with Kiv and his fate at the end actually teared me up. I love the struggles, obstacles and path their love was made. So much danger and yet so full of love.
Actually the concept of Varool and Varax reminds me of Vulcans and Romulans of Star Trek. I love it so much. I wonder what would happen now that they have Varoolian nanotechnology and Varaxian jump drives and weapons. I would love the Folri to be destroyed. Also, when will King Grax have his own book? I am so looking forward to it! On to Yash's book it is.
This is the fifth book of the series and figures that my favorite Varool is actually a Varax.
Var is the best pilot among the Varool even though he is from a different race, an outcast that displays a range of emotions, and is frowned upon by the Varool.
Mari is the youngest between the human pilots but she is as fierce and as daring as Var. She admires him and consider his simulations the ones to be beaten but, when they finally meet, his discomfort near her is as clear as day.
This is one of my favorite books of the series and I loved how her sunshine balanced his grumpiness and how he is just the sweetest.
This series is a delicious reading for any sci-fi romance fan and I can’t wait to read more about this new alliance against the Folri.
Var and Mari's Story . . .
Var is an incredible fighter pilot for the Varoolians. Mari adores flying and trains to fly their ships. An opportunity to join a dangerous mission with Var is her dream come true.
When Var boards his ship, he scents his mate! But he does not feel worthy of a mate. He is a berserker and no female would want a brute like him. He has no idea how Mari already feels about him. And as they go on their mission together, they are in close quarters and they will be fighting by each other’s side. Love and respect travels both ways. She wants him and he wants to mark her as his own. Will he see that she loves him and wants to be with him? Are they ready to accept each other as mates?
The grumpy shunned loner is paired with the talkative pilot who tries to be liked by all. Getting him to open up to her is a challenge in itself, and there's the added challenge of Var being placed in social situations by being mated to a human, or Mari being shunned along with Var as a result of mating with him.
We see them interacting in a romantic as well as professional capacity, which makes their relationship feel more real and like a true partnership. There's also an adorable furry friend who charms the reader as quickly as the couple. Their work takes a new alliance and opens it up to an even bigger world.
These two were so great together and the story just keeps getting better. They are getting closer and closer to figuring out how to fight the Folri and Var and Mari have an important job to help with that.
Mari was awesome. She loved to fly and matched Var so well, especially in that regard. She cared deeply and easily and really helped Var receive the acceptance he needed.
Var was just amazing. He has always been on the outskirts because he is a throw back in the Varool’s genetics. While coming from Varool parents, his genetics mark him as Varak-a more volatile group that left centuries before. He has that need to be accepted for who he is and he gets that from Mari. They were fabulous together and I loved reading about them. Look forward to the final book!
Another fantastic addition to this alien sci-fi romance series and this is Mari’s and Var’s story, I loved the characters it’s exciting and entertaining and Mari was no damsel in distress she’s a kick butt female pilot. Var is an outcast because of the stripes on his face so he never expected to find his mate but he did in Mari, Var believes that he is a brute so he thinks that he can’t put his mate through that. While they are on a dangerous mission everything changes for the both of them. I loved this story, the action, adventure, danger, drama, passion and so much more and I highly recommend this book/ series.
Var is different from other Varools. He has a berserker trait. He is shuned by his people, so he became a scout. Mari is a top notch human pilot. When she meets Var, she is attracted to him and does everything she can to attract him. They're both sent on a dangerous mission together where Var can no longer ignore his fated mate but claim her. When the alien bugs show up , they have to fight to save their live.
There's danger, drama, old prejudices that needs addressed, and hot steamy love scenes. It's hard to put this book done.
Mission impossible
First scout Var is tasked to learn how to fly a Folri ship. An impossible mission as none of the Varool scientists or engineers have figured how the controls function. His assistant is pilot Mari Patel, who is his fated mate . How can he concentrate n do his job when her essence is so intoxicating? He's been a loner for so long that he feels unworthy. After all no woman would tie herself to a Varaxian.
Pilot Mari Patel has always loved to fly. She's excited to finally meet Var who's been her idol for so long, n then to share in such a momentous mission is beyond her wildest dreams.
I enjoyed reading this story n learning more about the Varool.
Without giving away too many spoilers I really did love these two. Var has been judged very harshly and, in all honesty, falsely. The treatment he received from many was uncalled for and I just wanted to tell him to ignore them all. Just because you have a thick skin doesn't mean you aren't vulnerable on the inside. Mari was great. She was kind, supportive, intelligent and had a great respect for Var. She gave him her respect because she believed him deserving of it, he'd earnt it with his actions. If anyone could bring some light into his life it would definitely be her. That is if they survive their mission first!
