Moonhaven Cove #3

Bearly Yours

Rate this book
I’m in love with my best friend, one of the last dragon shifters in the world. Yeah, life has just gotten way more complicated.

For two years I’ve gone on one bad date after another, and for two years my best friend Roarke has stood by my side. I don’t want to date other guys. I want to date Roarke. But there are two problems with this. One, Roarke is one of five dragon shifters left in the world. In order to protect his species from going extinct, he needs to find his true mate and have children. It’s the only way for us shifters to have children, because otherwise our biochemistry doesn’t mix well. And two, and really an addendum to problem number one if we’re adding up issues here, I’m broken. I have no scent. So that whole thing that allows mates to detect each other? Yeah, I don’t have it. I’m a blank slate. An unpainted masterpiece. Bummer doesn’t really cover it, does it? It feels more like what engineers call catastrophic failure. Until the night my home gets broken into, and something very special is stolen from me. Now Roarke and my Clan are working together to keep me safe from a mysterious shadow shifter, and the mix of Roarke and my Clan working together often yields hilarious results. Does this keep me entertained while I’m terrified for my life? Yes, yes it does. And does my awesome but grumpy best friend like being knee deep in my Clan? Nope, but he does it for me, and I adore him all the more for it. I keep hoping that in true romcom style Roarke and I will get our happily ever after. But this is real life, and I don’t know if there are any happily ever afters for a broken bear shifter and a dragon shifter. To any cupids listening... please help a girl out!

Bearly Yours is part of my new Moonhaven Cove series. Each book in the series builds off the previous books, but still stands on its own. If you’re looking for clean paranormal romance with swoony kisses, snappy dialogue, funny and heartwarming characters, and plenty of suspense and action, you’ve found the right place. Welcome to Moonhaven Cove.

SO. CUTE. 😍

This one is my favourite in the series so far! Roarke and Emrie are precious beyond words! He’s a dragon shifter, she’s an anomaly bear shifter—they’ve been friends for years and harbouring secret crushes, but never thought they’d get a chance to be anything more. I don’t always love friends-to-lovers for this reason, but here, there were very logical reasons why they didn’t think they had a future together—and the way they overcome them was beautiful!

The pining, the friendship, the found family, the protectiveness… it’s so sweet.

Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the one bed troping. The first time I could understand from a protective point of view, but after that it was just sleeping together (no sex just cuddling) just because.

Very excited for Mesmer’s book next! But also, I want stories for the rest of Emrie’s clan—especially Alpha Riggs. 🥰

Another adorably cute tale by this author set in the town of Moonhaven Cove, like I seriously would love to live there with these charming characters as I just know I'd be friends with the whole damn town.

Emrie Fairchild is a sweet, shy bear shifter who wants nothing more than to find her mate and settle down. Unfortunately, she has no scent which would allow her to detect her potential forever mate and make her dreams come true. To make matters worse she's in love with her best friend, a grumpy dragon shifter who's incredibly protective of her. But can a broken bear and a dragon shifter find a happy ever after.

I just loved Emrie from the start, sweet, shy and awkward but incredibly kind she tries to find the best in her situation. Being a female bear shifter she's incredibly rare as most are male and her clan are her life, so she's equally as protective of them as they are her. I found her totally reliable and funny.

Roarke her best friend who is a grumpy dragon shifter with a heart of gold, especially when it comes to Emrie is funny and a sweetheart underneath his dragon exterior. And I had to laugh out loud when I found out what his dragon hoards were, let's just say they weren't gold and jewels. Adorable.

I also love the fact that characters from previous books are present throughout this story so you get a peek into their lives and what's happening with them. A very enjoyable cozy series, which make the autumn evenings a little warmer. I'm looking forward to book 4 which comes out in February next year, featuring a character I loved from the first book, Mesmer the gargoyle. I can't wait. Totally recommend if you love a cozy and cute story. 😁

I wanted to love this book since book 2 was good, but this felt flat. Reasons below.

1. It had all the same issues as book 1, it was very isolated to the bear clan. I imagine since an assassins' was after Emrie and she was a shy introvert she didn't interact with the community. Same as Mia she didnt really leave the house much so we didn't really get to see a lot of the town or the people. I thought this series would be about the town and how paranormals interact and have built a community.

2. The author choice for the couple seems a bit off. After book 2 I would expect Cy, August, Mesmer, Finn, Price Virion or even Lucky. We got Roarke who was a very small side character in book 2, barely mentioned in my opinion. At least I would have expected to see more of Roarke in book 2 if he was going to be the lead in book 3.

3. The author seems to write mostly from the female's perspective in the couple and while in book 1 we meet Mia first it made sense. In book 2 we had already been introduce to Dice and Rhys heavily from first book, so all good on that front. In book 3 we got Emrie someone we don't know at all, while reading noticed all the chapters were from perspective except one. Just felt like the continuity of the series was lacking. I didn't feel emotionally invested in either Emrie or Roarke. We didn't get to see all the characters we fell in love with in the previous books.

Overall my least favorite out of the 3 books so far. I will keep my fingers crossed for book 4.

Bearly Yours (Moonhaven Cove 3) by Dusty Rose
Independently published, 22nd April 2024

Moonhaven Cove is a town I've come to know and adore since I began reading the Moonhaven Cove series. Each book in the series concentrates on a different set of characters, and bear shifter Emrie is the lead character in this third outing.

Emrie has found a kindred spirit in best friend Roarke. He's a dragon shifter and, like Emrie, extremely rare. Destined never to find a mate of their own, they're happy to hang out together and try not to dwell, but things get turned on their head...

I adored this book! Dusty Rose knows how to cook up a storm in a small paranormal town teacup, adding just the right amount of mystery, romance, sizzle, and humour. No spice warnings needed here, just Clan (family) and romantic warm fuzzies. The characters are adorable, especially Emrie, Mia (from book 1), and Dice (from book 2). Even fiery Roarke is cute and cuddly for a dragon!

I hope there are more Moonhven Cove books in the works, because I have found my people!

Dusty Rose has done it again!!!
Barely Yours is a delightful story with characters that made me laugh. I love how relatable Emrie is to my own struggles with social anxiety. Yet, she does not let that make her weak. She courageously continues to live her life and step outside her comfort zone. I enjoy how gentle her alpha and pack are with her. They protect her while at the same time supporting her desire to stand on her own.
Rourke! Oh, my. What a charmer he is. I adore how in tune he is to Emrie, her feelings and needs. The two of them together are a hoot. I wanted to hurry and see what happened while at the same time I wanted to read slowly and take time to enjoy every aspect of their story.
The ending of the book is amazing and left me trying to turn the page. I could not get enough of Emrie, her p, ck and Roarke. This is a story you must read!!!!! Great GM read with no spice or language.

* While this is book 3 in the Moonhaven Cove Series and you may appreciate characters' appearances more if you've read the previous books, this can be read as a standalone.
* First person dual pov
* Spice: kisses that don't get too heated

This was the first book of the author's that I've read but it won't be the last. When it comes to shifter romances, maybe most readers expect them to be dark, heavy, and full of explicit content so I'm glad that Emily and Roarke's story was the complete opposite of that. While there was a sort of mystery to be discovered, the tone of the story stayed lighthearted. I loved the friendship between Emily and Roarke and how they wanted the best for each other. Of course Roarke's protective side was sweet but he had some competition with Emily's clan, who were lovable as well. I'm curious to read more from this series and author and recommend this to readers who want a cute shifter romance.

A PG shifter romance with a LOT of fluff and cozy vibes. If that sounds good to you, and you also enjoy

-descriptions of yummy food
-arts, crafts, and woodworking
-lots of cheesiness
-relatively low stakes paranormal romance

then I’d recommend this.

There were some mental health things that I think would’ve been good to unpack further than they were. And it would’ve been cool to see the FMC take on a little bit more risk and courage in the showdown.

Apart from that, plot and pacing were where I ran into issues, but it’s a relatively short novella/novel, so it didn’t drag on too long. There were some questions that never got answered, and the suspense elements could’ve been a little more cohesively wrapped in, as could the romance’s development. BUT—

This story seems to be really doing it for the vibes, and I’m not going to rain on that parade.

I love this series.

This is such a wonderful set of books. I love how you get to see all the characters from one book to the next, but can also enjoy them by themselves.

Emrie is broken, not ever to find her mate. Worse, she is in love with her best friend and can do nothing about it because it wouldn’t be fair. He is one of the last remaining dragon shifters and since shifters can only have babies with their fated mate, she would never act on her feelings.

Things take a turn when someone breaks into Emrie’s house and makes her unsafe. Now she gets to watch her best friend and Clan work together to keep her safe.

Can they find who is responsible before it’s too late? When past mysteries are solved can they find their happily ever afters?

Loved it!!

Bearly Yours was such a fun book! I love a good, clean, paranormal shifter romance! Even though it has been a while since I read the first two books in the series, I was easily engrossed in the world of Moonhaven once again. The cameos of previous characters were great!
We've all felt alone in the world, at one point or another, so it was easy to identify with and root for Emrie. And I loved how much Roarke doted on her when they were only best friends, and then the transition to more was fantastic!
Another excellent book by Dusty Rose that kept me turning pages!

Amazing!

I’ve loved Dusty Rose’s books and didn’t know the third had been released! Start to finish in one sitting because I’m that impatient. Love the characters and trials and successes!

The characters are well developed, and although I’ve never met anyone who is like Emrie, she sure was sweet and well written. Smoky dragon, Roark is awesome! Great storyline and kept me involved from start to finish.

It was okay. I did love how the Clan loved their members, though! And of course dragon shifters (though his eyes were a bit creepily described). The romance itself was kinda meh, I felt like the stalker thing wasn't developed well and was just added for the sake of having a climax.

Content: Clean. TW parental death/assassination, paranormal regular tws, etc. No cursing, though the characters curse like this: "he cursed." No explicit scenes or anything like that.

Awesome story

I have loved Dusty Rose books and characters. Bearly Yours did not disappoint. I lived the main characters and how protective the dragon was as well as her pack.
I did not want the story to end, I actually read slower so it would last longer. Amazing sweet story good for every one.

3 — Idk why I read this the writing style and topic wasn’t my style too sugary and not tough enough chick but there were nice parts. But I definitely didn’t need as much description as I was given. Again just my personal preference. I think I read this because I really want to read the next book but it’s not out yet lol

The Dusty Rose Moonhaven Cove books are an experience

The characters in these books are what makes them so enjoyable to read. The plot is clever and surprising. There was no way I had any idea where the story was going. Then we add the lovely characters, some of whom we met in the earlier books. And the combination makes for a really enjoyable read.

swoony and clean

This was a cute, clean little shifter RomCom with a dash of danger. Emerie is a bear shifter with a defect that makes it impossible to find her mate. Roarke is one of the last dragon shifters, and her best friend. Who she kind of sort of……loves. If you're looking for a swoony little fluffy romcom, this is the one.

Love Love this story!

This was such an intense story filled with love, acceptance, true friendship and a loving family. Well written and emotional on different levels. You won’t find another story that makes you feel good like this one. Roarke and Emrie are so good together along with the friends and family who surround them. Read this because you won’t want to put it down. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this book. It had the whole paranormal element but I feel like she did an amazing job with the characters of Emrie and Roarke. It was funny, heartwarming, with action and mystery to boot. I read this on audio and feel like it was really well done!

This one is a keeper and a re-reader! Emrie is a great new character as is her "bestie" Roark. It was also fun to see characters from the previous books in the series. It was a delight to read.

Read as audiobook borrowed from Audible. Well narrated. I really enjoyed the slow build of this book. Entertaining read that I couldn't get enough of.

Anxiously awaiting for the next book to come to Audible...while restarting the series because that's what I do.

Super cute story! I enjoyed this read quite a bit! It's the first I've read by this author but it definitely won't be the last. While being book 3 in a series, it definitely can be read as a stand alone. I loved the world of paranormals that the author has created, and look forward to reading more!

Sweet! Gave Hallmark movie vibes but if all the characters were shifters. Not my typical read but trying to branch out more. Great option if you're looking for a paranormal romance that is clean, closed door, and no swearing.

Cute

This was a cute Paranormal romance between two shifters. The plot isn't particularly deep, or complicated, and it can guess where it will end but it was a nice comfy read.
