Such a beautiful and heartbreaking story. The novella was written in a way that I just felt everything the MCs were. I also loved that they were anonymous which made me resonate with them.

Us. Forever.

The letters at the end? Sobbing.

This novella is incredibly beautiful. The writing is so enchanting, almost magical. I was completely captivated by it and yearn for more. 💗

I adore the writing style and how the characters are portrayed. Instead of focusing on events, we get to know them through their emotions, which is a unique approach. 🌟The use of weather metaphors adds depth to the emotions, making them even more powerful. It’s rare to find this level of emotional depth in books, and I absolutely love it.❤️

One of the most unique aspects of this novella is the anonymity of the characters’ names, and believe me, I enjoyed every single word! 😩 Despite its brevity, this book evokes such strong feelings in me. It’s a testament to the author’s talent. I highly recommend this beautifully written novella and eagerly await more from Elle in the future. I have no doubt that her future works will be just as, if not more, stunning than this one.

This is truly one of the most unique novellas I have ever read and such a stunner for a debut! There were emotions seeping off the page and with the anonymous main characters it was so easy for me to put myself in their shoes. The weather metaphors carried the story well and contributed to the raw and vulnerable emotions being portrayed. I typically don’t love 3rd person POVs but this was so well done and drew me into the story even more! The ending was SO EMOTIONAL!

Congrats Elle on such a beautiful debut novella! Thank you for sharing your story with us all 🥹

I am SO happy for this beautiful debut to be my last book of 2023.

The writing was so beautiful. I found the story to be so relatable and took me back to my own heartbreak. Despite the characters being anonymous, I really connected with them both. I’m not one to cry from a novella but this had me sobbing.

I’m really excited to see what else EF Sun releases.

while i’m not really a fan of novellas, i was so excited to read this. do i love elle? hell yes. did i have any doubts that her book would be beautiful? no.

the way this story was written was so different. anonymous mcs? i LOVED it. it really just allowed me to use my imagination and picture the characters without the help of physical descriptions and names 😚🤌🏻

this story was so relatable and beautiful and heartbreaking. i could honestly feel myself slipping back into my own head numerous times and remembering scenarios or conversations that were so similar to the characters in the book. i loved the way that elle truly put her whole heart and soul into this story and you can FEEL it in the way it’s written 😩

i don’t think a novella has ever made me cry before, but this one had me in tears multiple times. the poetic writing had my face hurting from smiling and crying and laughing. seriously, if taylor swift wrote a book, it would be this 👆🏼

the weather metaphors in this story made it all so profound and powerful and almost cosmic. honestly, the entirety of this story was so incredibly REAL. i felt like i was reading elle’s diary 🥺

i am so proud of you, elle for writing such a vulnerable story and sharing it with the world!!! i love you and thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your journey 🫶🏻

“You’re my sunset lover”

In Elle F. Sun's beautifully crafted novella “The
Nature of Emotions”, unfolds the story of a man grappling with his inner struggles and a devoted woman determined to stand by his side for eternity. This beautifully crafted narrative delves into the complexities of their journey, offering a compelling exploration of resilience, loyalty, heartbreak, and the enduring power of love.

This novella has really changed the way I see a lot of things. It made a positive impact on me, especially since I love romance stories. I could relate to the fear of falling in love, hurting someone, or taking someone back after they've left for reasons that seem insignificant. Elle beautifully captures these emotions through her characters and the use of metaphors.

One remarkable aspect is how Elle weaves in nature metaphors, particularly with rain symbolizing punishment. For instance, when the male character faces the rain, it's described as his punishment from the sky for the hurt he has caused. The metaphors throughout the novella add a layer of depth that I found truly impressive.

There are so many examples and quotes that stood out to me. I was particularly drawn to a quote where the male character describes his life without the female character as incomplete, comparing it to a night sky without stars. When he's with her, he feels a loss of control but is always drawn back to her like the tide. The way the male character expresses his love is truly captivating.

In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude to Elle for sharing this ARC copy with me. It means a lot to have had the opportunity to read a novella that she's put so much effort into. I hope others find inspiration in this captivating story as well.

Well rip my heart out and put it back together why don’t you. This novella was absolutely beautiful, Elle.
The dedication felt so special as someone who also “feels too much.” I’ll admit I cried a good bit through this novella, and that’s ok, because that’s just part of who I am - an empath much like you. It gave all of the “your feelings are valid” vibes, and I appreciated that so much.

I absolutely adored the contrast of the elements and seasons to showcase each of the characters emotions. It was poetic without feeling forced or cheesy. It allowed you to feel the emotions coursing through each of the character’s thoughts as if they were your own, being experienced in real time. The writing was just gorgeous. I flew through this novella in just under an hour, and I’m excited to read whatever else Elle has in store!💜

This is so beautiful. The way this was written was so beautiful it was almost magical. I just loved this so much. I NEED MORE.
I love the writing style, and the way we get to know the characters. It wasn’t through a series of events but more through their emotions. It’s something I’ve never really seen in books before and I love it, and the weather metaphors made the emotions even stronger. And the way a book so short can make me feel so much.

This was a beautifully written book, I love it and recommend it. I can’t wait to read what Elle writes in the future and have no doubts it will be as beautiful as this one if not more.

ARC | This is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read! “In the midst of fury and affection, his walls burn to the ground.” Are you kidding me? The writing was gorgeous, and so uniquely done! The MC’s are anonymous, which I LOVED. I’ve never read a book where the MC’s aren’t named and are barely described, but I loved finding the glimpses of them throughout the book. I had to send Elle a live reaction during her epilogue because of all the emotions I was feeling.

This is available in print now & the ebook releases 12/29. Please read it.

The writing was beautiful and poetic. This was like nothing I’ve ever read before. The characters were completely anonymous leaving you with only the raw emotions written through beautiful metaphors. It truly does feel as thorough you are reading a romance through poetry. Such an interesting concept and it worked! ❤️👏🏼

Elle is one of my favorite people and I jumped to read her debut novella.

I am so proud of the work she put out and I hope you will be as moved as I was 💕

What a unique way of storytelling. While it’s a short novella, you feel the impact of the relationship between these two people. People Fighting emotions without knowing the full backstory, but yet you feel it. You feel the rawness they have to each other. The ending!

This unique debut novella by Elle explored the complexities and challenges of relationships. It was mesmerizing and captivating. I've never come across a book/novella where the reader isn't told the main character's names, creating a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The poetic writing style and unexpected twist in the epilogue made for a satisfying happy ending.

In summary, a fantastic short read to enjoy in between longer series, and I'm excited for more from this author.

Love is everywhere, and this book shows it. It talks about romance, love, and heartbreak. Elle beautifully captures these emotions through her characters and the use of metaphors. The story is deep, and it makes you think about your own feelings and relationships.

The writing is nice and easy to understand. It's emotional and feels like poetry, drawing you into the characters' love journey. The MMC pours out his love in a way that's nothing short of breathtaking. Equally mesmerizing is the FMC, whose love and passion radiate off the pages. Oh my, the depth of her emotions 😭 The way she intertwines love and passion is like a spell, leaving an indelible mark on your soul. Elle deserves a standing ovation for crafting something so achingly beautiful yet heartbreakingly real. The emotional rollercoaster is masterfully executed, drawing you in with its sweetness and then hitting you with the raw, poignant reality of love.

In the end, "The Nature of Emotions" is a touching story about love. It's simple and special, making you think about your own emotions and how they connect to the world around you. Give it a read if you want a heartfelt and easy-to-understand story about love.

Usually I hate books in third person view however I absolutely loved the way Elle so perfectly crafted them as individuals and a whole without putting a name to it.This book really just spoke to anyone and I loved that so incredibly much. The metaphorical meanings behind this was absolutely beautiful.! loved the way she was so expressive towards her love for him and he memorising every single thing about her. Her loving him unconditionally to the brick she cant see life without him and he without her rather expressing his feelings on paper rather than vocally. This book emotionally drew me in almost as if this was the invisible ink needed.I loved this book so incredibly much it was so perfectly well written and I loved being able to not create or picture either main characters.

This novella was unlike anything I’ve read before. I’m not usually a fan of third person present tense, but Elle wrote it beautifully. I loved the idea of anonymous MMCs and although I couldn’t put a name to face or even a face to the characters, I found myself getting so attached to them.

The metaphors in each section were executed so well and I loved that they followed the theme. The story flowed so well and although there were time jumps I was able to follow the relationship clearly. I would love to have more of the characters in the future.

Also, the ending had me crying in the airport. I’ve always considered the ability to make a reader cry a sign of good writing, and The Nature of Emotions demonstrates that and so much more. The fact that I was able to connect and become so attached to nameless and faceless characters was sign number one that Elle is an amazing writer.
