Celestion Wolves #0.5

Celestial Rescue

I never expected to be kidnapped by aliens. It’s never off the table, not when there are scumbags like the Skulchers whose sole purpose is to make a profit off trafficking. And Terran—human—women? We fetch a high price.

But as the twelve other captees and I escape, our stolen ship starts to fall apart. And it’s up to me to fix it. Flying through an asteroid field is dangerous as is—but flying through it while you’re on the outside of the ship? Downright terrifying.
When the ship needs to make an emergency landing on an uncharted planet, I’m forced to abandon ship. I lose consciousness as I parachute off, and when I come to? I’m no longer alone. This muscled, purple alien may be a barbarian, but he’s also got two tails and a crystal embedded into his forehead. Oh, and did I mention he can shapeshift into a wolf?

And yet despite the language barrier and anatomy differences between us, all I can think about is getting wrapped up in those purple arms…

CELESTIAL RESCUE is a short story and teaser for the Celestion Wolves series. An alien wolf-shifter romance series, with fated mates, rival wolf packs, and cinnamon roll alien men, this story is perfect for fans of Ice Planet Barbarians , first time sci-fi romance readers, and anyone who wants their werewolves to be out of this world!

There’s something about Celestial Rescue that feels like being dropped straight into the middle of chaos and then slowly realizing you don’t want to leave it.

It opens with that immediate sense of danger and displacement like everything familiar has already been stripped away before the story even properly settles and what’s left is this raw survival instinct mixed with uncertainty about what comes next. It doesn’t try to ease you in gently, it just pulls you along in the aftermath and lets the tension speak for itself.

Meg stands out in a really grounded way. She doesn’t feel untouchable or overly “chosen,” just someone reacting the only way she can to a situation that keeps escalating beyond anything she could’ve prepared for. There’s a quiet resilience to her that makes the stakes feel more personal, especially in the way she processes fear, exhaustion, and the constant pressure of not knowing what’s safe anymore.

And then Kyp enters the picture in a way that shifts the entire emotional temperature of the story. He’s written with that classic alien-wolf-shifter duality, something that feels both unfamiliar and instinctively protective at the same time. What makes his presence interesting isn’t just the “otherness” of him, but the contrast between that primal edge and the softer, almost watchful way he interacts with Meg. There’s a tension there that never feels rushed, more like it’s building in layers through silence, instinct, and proximity rather than anything overt.

The atmosphere really carries this one. The setting feels isolating in a way that actually matters to the emotional tone of snow, wreckage, silence, and distance all reinforcing how alone Meg is before anything else starts to shift. And when Kyp’s world overlaps with hers, it doesn’t erase that isolation so much as reshape it into something unfamiliar but strangely grounding.

What I liked most is how it leans into that slow sense of connection forming in the middle of survival. It’s not about instant understanding, it’s about two beings trying to exist in the same space without fully knowing how to define what’s happening between them yet. That uncertainty gives it a soft tension that feels very much in line with sci-fi romance done well.

Overall, this reads like a strong introduction to a larger world, short, intense in its setup, and more focused on mood and connection than anything overly complex. If you enjoy alien romance with survival stakes, fated pull energy, and that “strangers in an impossible situation” dynamic, this one fits comfortably into that space without trying too hard to be anything else.

As always be mindful of any trigger warnings, what I like you may not.

Okay, this was such a fun little introduction to the Celestion Wolves series! I went into this expecting a quick teaser, and it absolutely delivered on the promise of an entertaining sci-fi romance with a seriously unique twist.

The idea of alien wolf shifters had me intrigued straight away, but I especially loved the heroine. She’s resourceful, brave, and definitely not the type to sit around waiting for someone else to save her. After escaping captivity, she finds herself stranded on an unknown planet and coming face to face with a very intriguing purple alien who happens to be able to shift into a wolf. Because apparently regular wolves just weren't out of this world enough! 😂

The world building gave me just enough to get curious about what comes next, while the fated mate element and the hints of rival wolf packs have me wanting to dive straight into the rest of the series. And let's be honest, a muscled, purple, two tailed, crystal headed wolf shifting alien is certainly a memorable love interest!

It's a short read, so don't expect a huge amount of depth or a fully developed story arc, but as a series starter, it does exactly what it's supposed to do, introduce the characters, give us a taste of the world, sprinkle in some romance, and leave you curious for more.

If you're a fan of alien romance, fated mates, shifters, or just want to try something a little different, Celestial Rescue is a cute and entertaining place to start.

I read book one before diving into this prequel and either book could be read first without spoiling anything for the other. I did get more background in the first book. That said, I enjoyed this little snippet of Meg's story! It honestly gives me a peace of mind to know that she's safe aaaand, it makes me soo curious about what is to come with her and Kyp. This novella ends on an abrupt note as a cliffhanger of sorts, but it's nothing that's anxiety inducing. Trust me, I am not one for cliffhangers. But this one was done in a way that makes it manageable and that makes you want to read on.

Getting back to Kyp, I am sooo curious about his background and definitely want to know more about his pack. When we meet Kyp, he's on his way to warn the Snowscapes of danger that's on the horizon, but gets sidetracked in saving Meg. This makes me so curious to see where their story will lead and how that danger will come into play. I also loved that he looked a little different from the Snowscapes, which created a sense of diverse culture in this world. Needless to say, the series is a lot of fun so far!

This story was fast moving, and action packed. There was sexual tension in the air as soon as the two main characters met in the “flesh”. Human and alien shifter meeting on a planet after a crash, due to an escape. The writer describes the setting and characters with details that you can picture it all in your head. The ending got me wanting more about the main character’s romance and how it will develop.
