Dark gods and twisted destinies! I loved every minute of it. It was hot and steamy and full of action , which I really enjoy, but also had some surprises that kept me fully engaged and were refreshing and new. Sunny doesn't believe in destiny, but knows that her mother does and these keeping something from her, so when Zatan tells her that she's his, she knows somethings going on.. Great characters and world building as well as an awesome storyline. Bravo!.

This story was something totally different from what I had previously read from Piper Stone. It took me awhile to get into this one, as the beginning confused me a little with its jumping back and forth in the storyline, but once in stayed in the current time zone things began to make sense. I did enjoy the story but I found the start difficult to stay with. That being said, I will read more in this series in future.

Change for the better

The second half of this book was absolutely fantastic. The characters were well developed and I found myself completely submersed in the storyline. But I had to read the book in two sections. I originally picked it up, but had to put it aside for a long time because I was underwhelmed by the direction the story was going. Fortunately I decided to give the book a second chance and discovered the story I had been hoping for the entire time.

DNF at 12% - this pacing, writing style, and POV changes are making me mad. Literally nothing makes sense or has been explained. I am confused in a way that has made me DNF. Also the amount of modern slang in this is astronomical and pissed me off. The smut wasn’t even close to being good.

Weird pacing and way too much inner dialog

The pacing was rushed and the connection and chemistry btwn mc's wasn't believable IMHO. I kept looking back feeling like I missed something. One minute it's I hate you and the next we're talking about love and soul mates. Also there is sooo much inner dialog that adds nothing to the plot. I skimmed a very large part of this for that reason and was also probably why I felt fmc personality was off-putting. The main conflict resolution was awful and didn't gel with a reasonable response for what they did let alone what they attempted to do. Mmc was kinda one note and unexciting. Just didn't do it for me

Sunny has been having some of the hottest and craziest dreams of an alien god. He is tall, sexy, and hot (literally). But there is no way this can ever be real. When things seem to be become stranger, she doesn’t know if it is a premonition, fate, or she is losing her mind. Fast forward a few years, her life is ok. Sunny needs to move forward with her personal life. Cheating boyfriend, gone. But what should be a fun night with her bestie Tory, takes a strange turn. She meets her fantasy alien in person, or is it? Zatan is the God of Fire. He and his brother Ravat, God of Ice are the next in line to the throne. They have been tasked to find their mate. But there has to be a reason his father is pushing him. When he meets up with the human that he has dreamed about, this gets more complicated. Why are there Tantians after Sunny? And if she is truly his mate, then he needs to protector at all costs.

We jump right into the story. We are pushed into the future. I had to stop for a second to figure out what was happening. We have two Gods, Fire, and Ice. Both are the Creators’ sons. When they are told to find their mates within a certain time frame, you wonder why. And with Sunny, her parents definitely know more than they are saying. It seems like they know the creator. And why are things always hazy for Sunny when she is with Zatan. We learn a lot about the needs of the Creator and his sons. I was surprised about the fathers. I am looking forward to reading about the other three brothers.

Action filled alien and human romance that will have you riveted
This was an entertaining and action filled read that I guarantee other readers will find that once they begin reading, they will not be able to put the book down until you reach the end and discover the final outcome.
Sunn’s life has not been going so well and so she had decided to try and do something about this and she decides that she will attempt to do this through dreams. However, it soon becomes apparent to Sunny that these fantastic dreams she has been having have been feeling a little too realistic especially the one with her alien.
When she realises that some of the suspicions she actually has been having with regards to her feelings and dreams especially where Zatan her huge alien lover is concerned are more that simply only dreams she has to reevaluate how she feels about this male that has made her body feel things she never would have believed possible.
She also has to be honest with herself and with Zatan and evaluate if it actually is possible that he is her actual mate, this is a circumstance she cannot simply ignore she has to look into it thoroughly.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I knew from the beginning I would enjoy this book it’s a little different but fun easy to enjoy with a feisty sassy independent woman! That part makes it very funny then you have a hot determined alien who has no problem taking things into his own hands lots of fun, frustrating conflicts between the two main characters! There is steamy tension with some kink involved which in opinion makes books so much more entertaining among other things too. Definitely full of action scenes, page turner content, setting is in different places and believe ages in life. There is betrayal and lots of cute adorable different animals my personal favorite character is the main lady character. Because she is such a force to reckon with not afraid to stand her ground and, plus she genuinely a great person who cares wants the best for everyone giving them the benefit of doubt. The ending of this sci-fi enemies to lovers theme is so sweet I love it so much!!. If this was real thing I would kinda wanna go!

OMG! Wow, I was astounded reading this book it was fantastic, the story was mesmerising and the characters were really captivating. This story was about Sunny and Zatan, Sunny is a veterinarian and has been working long hours, she was going to surprise her boyfriend by getting home early. The security system was playing up so she had to climb through a window, as soon as she opened up the bedroom door, she was confronted with something she should never have been. She dreams of happy thought she seems to be dreaming of the same man /Alien that would arouse her in her dreams, he has bought her to her knees of pleasure. This had kink, with a lot of sexual connection.

Wow, this book is brilliant. When Sunny discovers her boyfriend cheating her, her best friend takes her on a night out, where she meets the alien that has been invading her dreams, as he rescues her from being abducted. Zatan, the God of Fire, knows that Sunny is his mate but he will have to convince her while dealing with betrayal and a race that seem intent on war, as well as making sure they mate before the deadline set by his father. Nothing is simple or easy and both Zatan and Sunny will use everything in their power when they have to. This story captured my imagination and I was certainly hooked from the beginning, and enjoyed it right through to the end. I wish I could give it 10 stars as it certainly deserves it.

Is it real????

Can dreams come true? What if they are a prophecy of the future? It does run in the family. Well, Sunny has been having these dreams about an alien and that he was coming for her. She decides to cash in on her birthday present her BFF gave her. It’s a trip to the fantasy factory. Somehow the fantasy AI digs up her dream alien. Zatan is the god of fire. He sees Sunny in his dreams. He knew she was his. All Sunny wants in a perfect man, not an alien beast. After a failed kidnapping attempt, they finally meet face to face. She knows he is coming for her. There are all sorts of plots and twists in this book, along with spanking and explicit scenes. Please check the trigger warnings. Piper has written a great alien romance that has a lot of heat in it. I definitely recommend this book for Piper fans!

I have to say I'm usually a huge fan when ever PStone writes any of her paranormal romances. Whether it's aliens, ABO steam, dragons, wolves, heck I just love her imagination for the unknown. While I appreciate her normal steam, I just love the others.

Now that being said, I did have a hard time with this book. Firstly, if you are going to tell time by dates at the beginning of a chapter - which I hate because I can't remember the date by the end of the chapter let alone the difference in the passage of time. The first chapter doesn't have any dates but the second does. The reason why I bring this up is because it seems that events almost take place 2 weeks later because that is the "time" that the FMC states, but 18 pages later in the same chapter she goes from being a virgin to not having relations since her last boyfriend 2 years ago.

Talk about whiplash. It's so hard to keep track of the time-frame in this book. It just led me to be confused and get frustrated. So I didn't mind the story, I felt like I was playing catchup trying to see if I missed anything.

The pacing was off. The dialogue was cringy. The time frames needed to be read then back tracked and still was annoyingly unclear. I got to 65% and gave up.
Sunny was all “I want a Dom” gets cheated on sees the man of her dreams then is mouthing off to the point where I skipped pages to avoid her inner dialogue. She was a brat and I felt dumber by listening to her rants. It was soo inconsistent.
Also the big head scratcher was the weird fantasy-dream -walk-lost-virginity thing… like “OK?”
I usually just go through books like nobody’s business but I seriously kept putting this down and begrudgingly picking it back up. I almost always finish a book I start unless it’s super bad or in this case really really hard to follow. Read it if you like unexplained stuff in books that kinda go everywhere but the point… but this is not for me.

well…ehhh

I wanted to stop at the 40% mark, but I powered through. The dream/fantasy sequences were confusing and did not flow well, but I understand that this author is navigating sci-fi, and that is new. I would argue that this author needs to stay away from this genre, but everyone needs a palate cleanser, even authors. That being said, this was a great effort, and like her other work, there is passion and creativity behind her writing. I likely will not read any other sci-fi from this author, but I will always read her other works. Should she decide to try another genre I will always give it a chance, because this is an exceptionally talented author, and I support her work.

DNF. Clearly Piper Stone can write some spicy scenes. It was everything else about this book that struggled.

The plot didn’t know whether it was coming or going. Even worse the main characters, our H & h couldn’t seem to get into the same room together. Beyond a brief meeting via a dream (yes that’s right during rem sleep) these two spent more pages apart than together. In the real world they could not seem to find one another. Kind of a fundamental flaw for a romance if you ask me.

And the dead give away that a book is destined for the trash heap … skimming. When you start flipping through multiple chapters hoping to advance the action, only to figure out the main characters STILL had not meet I decided to call it quits.

'Captive Mate' is the newest standalone by Piper Stone. It's an Alien, Fantasy, Sci-Fi Romance wrapped in BDSM scenes and domestic discipline. From the first chapter, I kept wondering what was really going on. Was it a dream? Was it some type of reality? It certainly kept me intrigued and wanting to read more. Ms. Stone dropped hints here and there but nothing was given away until the end. I have never read a book by this author that didn't leave me with a sigh by the time I finished and this is no exception.

It’s an interesting world build

This book has some interesting concepts and world building. The characters were created well, they have depth. The lead characters Zatan and Sunny were perfectly matched. What was not good was too much internal dialogue which stalled out the storyline often. The story was written with an “good news message“ about change in the world, prejudices, and second chances. However for the author to throw all this good work, started by Sunny, her father, Zatan and his brothers, into the last chapter with very little detail felt rushed. I liked the storyline but not the way it was organized.

I enjoyed falling into Sunny's life. She is strong and resourceful but hiding. Zatan needs her much more than he knows. This is a very well put together story that any reader who likes adventure stories will love. Because this author has an amazing talent that she has willingly shared with her readers. I loved her descriptions, they are so picturesque. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I recommend it. This is a very interesting story that held my interest as I was swept along in outer space.

I liked the premise of this book, but unfortunately I couldn't get into it. The timing confused me and I had to keep rechecking to see what was when. It was a little slow for me and I lost interest. Being it's a fairly long book at a little over four hundred pages, I decided to stop rather than force myself to finish. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I would try another. 3 stars.

"There was no mistaking the connection I shared with the woman..."

So, this one is something different. Yes, it has a hot, dominant hero, a smark, feisty heroine lots of steamy fun but it's not like most of Piper's books. To start, let me warn you, the beginning is very confusing. It was so confusing I almost quit reading. But I trust Piper so I stuck with it and eventually the lights came on. I can't really explain without giving everything away and it's a book where you want to be suprised so don't give up. Just keep reading. In the end it will be worth it.

This was a different story in many ways but definitely worth the read. I really enjoyed the characters and how things went with them. A dream, fantasy, come true in more ways than one. Who knew it would. Betrayal is hard to take no matter who it’s from but when it comes in a form unexpectedly and from someone close it’s that much harder to overcome. Or can you ever ? I excited for the next story to see where it all goes.

The idea behind this book and the plot were interesting but it fell very flat imo. First of all the writing was inconsistent. How can you go from “it’s been 9 months” to “that was two years ago” and “I’m very sexually experienced (meaning multiple partners)” to “I only had sex with one person” like… the writing wasn’t adding up. I also found a few grammatical errors which is like whatever but this book needs some heavy editing. And it really sucks because like I said the premise was interesting.

This is a Dark Sci-fi romance and no one does it like Piper Stone! She writes her world so well it is easy to imagine it and visualize it and her characters. She developed these characters so well and I love her writing style in this book. Loads of delicious steaminess with a great sci-fi storyline.

Loved Żatań and Sunny. Two very strong characters who butt heads throughout the story but they get their HEA. A great story that had a lot of surprises, full of action and intrigue. There is never a dull moment in the story and you never know what is going to happen next. There HEA is eventually realized but it is not a smooth journey.

This is a fantastic, quick paced and spicy novel. Sunny dreams of a monster claiming her, not realizing he is not only real, but a god. He has been sent by his father, the creator, to claim his mate. If she can accept him, together they will rule the universe. Their fiery chemistry, intense encounters and happily ever after make for a story that is worth the one click.

I liked this book, but I had a hard time, at first, getting into the story. I found Sunny to be rather off putting as a FMC in the beginning of the story. She came across to me as self- centered and judgmental. Zatan was also hard to take since he was hot tempered and domineering. They finally learn to work together and the story improves.

This was a great sci-fi fantasy. It did take a few chapters for me to get into it. When I did I was hooked. I love how the female character takes no crap from anyone even her supposedly Mate. Once they get together sparks fly. Make sure you are in your comfy seat because this one definitely keeps you on the edge of it. Skyler Morgan did an amazing job as always. I wish you narrated all the books I listen to.
