Lilliana isn't ready to become queen after her parents' tragic death in an accident. But when her cousin claims he's the true heir to the throne she decides to fight for the crown and for her people. The first step is to announce her betrothal to Kal, the Prince of Detmarya. The problem is that Lilliana has lied to him. Will he still stand by her side?

I can't really believe that this is the last book, and that I've spent my last time with the characters! Each time I picked up the book it felt like coming home; a warm and cozy feeling. I didn't want it to end, while at the same time I wanted to read it all at once!

Even though this is Kal's and Lilliana's book we also get to follow, for example, Karey and Elin with their chosen ones. There are quite a few characters to keep track of by now, and once in a while I mix some of them up, but I "know" them rather well so there's no real problem.

We get to see another side of Lilliana in this book. In the last one we knew her as Zinnia, a young woman who can wield a sword at least as good as any man. Although she's fierce as Lilliana too, she's more vulnerable as the queen-to-be. Kal has some difficulties connecting both sides of her, but the hardest part is forgiving her for not telling him who she was when they first met. I appriciate how Cait Marie manages to make the characters complex, to make them feel like real people. Another thing I've appreciated throughout the whole series is how Marie mixes in both mental health and LBTQ rep in a very natural way. This is definitely one of my favorite series now!

4,5/5 ⭐

Another book that feels like coming home. Being the fifth book in this series, you already know the setting and the characters. Combine this with the characters being so heartwarming and absolutely amazing yet also fierce, this book was meant to be one of my favourites of this year. The story’s pacing is rather calm, but that just fits super well with the story because it really gives the plot and all the intrigue enough time to be worked out nicely. So you certainly can't call it too boring or too slow, the pace is just perfect. Things also suddenly pop up that were rather small in the previous books, or rather details, but now turn out to play a bigger role. It's truly superbly put together. The characters are also super relatable and really take you along on their adventure. There could perhaps have been a little more action in this story, but it was just super fitting that relationships and characters play such a big role here. As always, I also really liked the writing style, which is really a constant throughout Cait Marie's books. It's hard for me to say more here without giving away spoilers, I can only warmly recommend reading this series, starting with the Lost Legends.

“The Missing Legacy” is the fantastic conclusion to Cait Marie’s The Nihryst series, and I personally thought it was complete and utter perfection! I loved all the different POVs, plus I really loved all the politics. This book had everything I could’ve possibly wanted: action, drama, angst, passion, banter. While this story mostly focused on Kal and Lilliana, I loved that other characters such as Carys, Karey, Bron, Logan, Elin, etc. were just as important to the plot. I also loved the addition of new characters such as Ravi and Isaac. The ending was beautiful, and I wanted to cry because I’ve grown so attached to these characters over the course of the series. All in all, this was a wonderful read, and I’d highly recommend this book and this series to fans of fantasy romance!

I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but there's just something I absolutely love about this series. It's got great character building, good foreshadowing/hints to the reader, the storytelling makes you just want to keep reading, and I LOVE that I'm always confident there'll be a happy ending. So often these days authors build so much tragedy into their stories, so if you want to escape from the world and guarantee a story where things work out with a fairytale happily ever after, this is the series for you. This is the last book in the series and I'm gutted I won't get to read more about future adventures and the next generation, but you never know, I can always hope for another book 🤞

I loved this book. It was not the ending any of them were expecting. I love each new addition to this series and still have found no reason to not want more.

This book is so good and ended the series with so much justice it was worth the wait. Cait Marie has once again outdone herself. I was on tenterhooks trying to finish the end of the book but also wanting to read as slow as possible so it didn't end quickly.

This book wasn't the typical crazy adventure that usually happens in this series but it was just as intense and had some adventure in new ways.

I can't wait to see what other books come out of this world. I absolutely love all the side characters and hope they all get their own stories. I can see so many more stories available.

I rate this book a 6/5 stars. Yes I said 6 even if I can't mark 6. It was that good and highly recommend reading the entire series.
