Brave champions. Swords and sorcery. Breathtaking twists and turns…

In a world besieged by relentless foes, the empire stands on the brink of defeat, encircled in a grip of war. Amidst the chaos and danger rises Stiger, a hero burdened with a tarnished legacy yet destined for epic greatness. With the aid of allies, the gnomes, the elves, and the Vass, Stiger has shattered the tribal armies of the Barrens and saved the garrison at Nabernacum.

But his trials and tests have only just begun. Haunted by a past filled with loss and dark memories, Stiger faces his greatest challenge the defeat of the malevolent wizard Amaranth. Amaranth’s insidious plan involves not only kidnapping Stiger’s allies, but claiming his dread sword, Rarokan, and seizing Stiger’s soul.

To confront this foe, Stiger must venture to a place to which he vowed never to return, Wackita, the volcano and a cursed land populated by gnomes and dark secrets. Accompanied by a fearsome dragon, a Knight of the Vass, elven rangers, a devotee to a dark god, and his dog, Stiger embarks on a perilous journey. What waits is a maelstrom of danger, revelation, and adventure, unlocking extraordinary powers Stiger could never imagine possible and beginning the fulfillment of a prophecy.

The empire’s fate hangs in the balance. But Stiger, ever resilient, refuses to surrender. The ultimate battle to save the empire and the world is upon him, a test of courage, strength, and destiny.

I have read and throughly enjoyed and waited for every book in this series. Not so much this one. The middle part of the story came to a sudden lull and remained there. So much so I considered but did not skip to the final chapter. After reading so many of the books about this character I felt it would be best to delve on and hope the storyline picked up. To my dismay it did not til the final chapters. I will wait till the next book hits the market in 2025 and hopefully it will be as enjoyable as the one’s before this. As I stated before this is the first book of this series I found a struggle to finish(and the first I did not give five stars). Hopefully it will be the last I encounter in this manner. In circumspect the 2025 arrival date of the next book seems a little long. But I realize these things take time. Maybe this one was the result of rushing the final product. I eagerly await the Authors next endeavor.

Excellent, as usual, but lots of repetition

I am a big fan of Marc Alan Edelheit and have read all the Karsus and Stiger books. I have enjoyed all over them very much and look forward to every installment.

However, I found in this book there was a lot of repetition in both the various scenarios and in the descriptions for the fighting. It wasn’t too bad but it was off putting enough I eventually ended up skimming because I knew how each fight and internal struggle near the end of Stiger’s capture would go.

Laborious

Something fundamentally changed in the writers style
I very much enjoyed the books at the start of this series. I’ve been looking forward to this one and was very disappointed ☹️ . I persevered until around 1/2 way , and then found myself skipping pages and chapters
😔 only reason I even bothered finishing this one at all was due to how much I had enjoyed the previous books.

Getting kinda corny

I think the first10 were a lot better. Seems like as soon as they get rank it will get hat way. Less battle, more romance and dragged out political crap. Supposedly the miracle shot replaces the hard work. But what do I know. Still looking forward to the next installment and will have forgotten by the time it gets out.

Just a bit disappointing, others will differ however I felt it needed a severe edit. Lot of padding and repetitive narrative. I also prefer a more even mix of military action along with the magic, wizards and sorcery. Might want to reduce the frequency of the “I love you” comments. Didn’t move the story line along much either and given we have to wait a year that’s not great either. So not a bad book but the first of his novels I’ve found myself skimming paragraphs.

On the whole I enjoyed this book, but the book felt long. There were times when the plot sped up and then slowed down. For example, the last 20% of the book is the climatic battle between Stiger and the wizard Amanarath. Without going into details or spoilers, there are several phases of the battle.

The other thing about this book is the title: The Tiger's Rage. Perhaps because he has learned to control his anger or channel it, perhaps he is trusting the High Father, perhaps he is with his wife and friends, Stiger does not exhibit a lot of rage. In fact, he is in control of his faculties. Even in the darkest hour, Stiger is not raging or letting his emotions run rampant. So what should it be named?

Answer: The Tiger's Insurgents. In the middle third of the book, Stiger and Co. are spending a lot of time with the Istros gnomes who are a different branch of gnomes he has met in previous books. These gnomes were under the rule of the evil wizard Amanarath. He operates less of a general or warrior and more of 018A - a Green Beret officer whose mission is to mobilize local/ indigenous forces and serve as a force multiplier. Green Berets' ultimate graduation course is at Robin Sage, North Carolina - a fictitious country called Pineland where they interact with actors who play insurgents and civilians. These gnomes play a huge role in the story. Enough said.

Interesting but took way too long.

Too much description in this book and everything took too long and too much drama. About half way through I had to fast forward because I was bored of too much drama and description for a side quest. The ending was fun but it wasn’t even fully finished. Will take. Break from this for a while. How many times do people have to look at each other dramatically! Lol

Not my favorite book...

Too long and over bearing. Could have been done in half the time. The endless verbiage gave me an unending headache. Still looking forward to the next book.

Marc well warned us on this being a large book, it honestly doesn’t feel that way. The story continues where we last seen Stiger and friends, then surprises all around after this. Story takes twists and turns but it’s important to read carefully with some great “Easter egg” parts. Got frustrated at the end with the cycles but everything comes together. Really enjoyed this.

Only 1 criticism is that the book ended and we have to wait until 2025 to find out what happens.

Filler

I felt like the book just dragged on and on. The last book was leading up to this, and then the whole book was all about a wizard that was defeated in the last couple pages of the book. Anti-climatic. I find it best when it’s dealing with, high adventure and combat this book was none of that. Disappointing after all the others in the series and spinoff series.

Finally, but worth the wait?

Always like to read Marc's books. But lately, books have been burdened with too many characters and too much rable setting. I'd prefer a more streamlined storyline and cast of characters. With that said, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Mixed

Didn't grab me like the other books till the last 15%. However I'm self aware enough to realize I haven't been myself due to a couple of tough passings. So paltry three stars possibly not fair. Rated first seven as fives

Marc needs an editor

Marc has reached the level of Steven King. A good story but he needs an editor to point t out when the prattle and little un needed details are taking away from the pace of the story.

Duty, Honor, Loyalty, Friendship... To save the Empire

In The Tiger's Rage, Stiger, the new Emperor has just successfully lead his army of very diverse races to their first united victory as Emperor. The new Emperor is being threatened not only by the external enemies of the Empire, but also by the always present internal politics. But before he can deal with any of the internal or external threats, he is drawn to attend to a personal issue, he has friends that are in need of his help. Stiger leads a small band of warriors on a mission to not only save his mentor and friend, but ultimately, another step he needs to save the Empire that he has dedicated his life. And, as in any story goes in this world of Stiger, when Gnomes are involved, the adventure is never uneventful. This story continues the mystical world that Marc Alan Edelheit has built. The adventure is full of diverse mystical beings battling to be the victor of the last War.

A Really Great Read

I have read 1 to 7. But can’t say I remembered them very well. But I don’t think that was too much of a drawback.
Lots of great characters. There was depth to the relationships. There were times I found the descriptions, and observations, and journeying, all just a bit too wordy and they slowed the pace, without adding much to the story. Such that I was sitting at a rating of 4 stars half way through. But as I read on it became un-put-downable, my measure for 5 stars. It focused more on interpersonal battles and manoeuvres, as opposed to battles between armies and battle strategies. And so was different, but I would say it now sits at the top of my pile of Marc’s books. Many thanks for the entertainment Mr Edelheit. I’m disappointed I will have to wait so long for book 9,

The Tiger Fan Rage

Marc you're a Genius, and I love all your series, I love all things Roman you write about, I love this book was over 600 pages long. But Marc I have to wait till 2025/a long wait once again. I have several of your merch and people always ask what's a Stiger and I point to the website and tell them to go check it out! I know they will get hooked like I did. But again I am going to have to read all your books again and hope I finish when the next book in this series comes out. FYI can you make the next book over 1200 pages long please? You asked to keep you motivated, your fans would really like this.... Love ya brother, keep what you're doing. Signed a Stiger Fan along with all of Ben's friends.

If you've wandered through the Stigerverse/Karusverse you've heard about a story from Stiger's past about a certain volcano, gnomes, and shenanigans. With The Tiger's Rage, we get to learn a little bit of the back story, and close off this particular loose thread.

Stiger's friends Menos and Ogg have been missing for a while, and he has an opportunity and an obligation to find them. With his closest allies, along with a Knight of the Vass and a couple of gnomes, are off to the far reaches to do just that. What they find is an enemy that is every bit as dangerous as any of them have found on a battlefield.

Well Written and a Journey into new realms of power

The outline tracked well with strong character development from many earlier storylines and in a culmination that led to a new plot of encounters in the realm of magic and spiritual power. The only criticism was the tendency to dwell on the romantic love story between Stiger and Tall'eeth. I would have appreciated a bit fewer pages of that since their story was already developed well enough in earlier books. Overall, an entertaining read.

Another heart thumper

Fantastic followup and long awaited, what Ben does after being crowned emperor of Mal'Zeel. Well thought out, pursuit of missing treasury, trouble with enemy armies coordination, and a personal story of growth through unbelievable stresses- a definite winner.

Marc has created another enjoyable adventure for The Stiger Chronicles. I have enjoyed his writings and the worlds he has created.

The Tiger's Rage series takes a story about what Roman Legions would be like in a Fantasy world, and it rocks. A fine blend of martial discipline, the Gods, magic, elves, orcs, gnomes, and dragons - gotta have dragons.

Can't wait for the next book!

Always a satisfying read. Edelheit writes fight scenes and action as good as anyone in the biz. This cast of characters has become one of my favorites to read. If you enjoy fantasy with a bit of military fiction thrown in, you'll love this series. It has been great to read and looking forward to the next installment.

I’ve always loved reading historical fiction/non fiction books or just a good book or story. Marc has exceeded my expectations from his books. I just recently found them and have torn through them, I highly recommend any of his books and will continue reading anything he puts out. I was worried about the direction the story was taking in the last two books. Especially the last one when Stiger felt over powered and under no real threat.

This book has resorted my confidence, definitely a return to form. Stiger back at his best.
