This is the debut novel by Simon Eyre. “I’m passionate about travel, adventure, and the pursuit of right over wrong. I wanted to write something that keeps readers on the edge of their seats and keeps them turning the pages. I also wanted to make them feel they were right there, in exotic locations worldwide, experiencing the same sights, sounds and smells as the hero.”
Simon Eyre is a company director and author of the Daniel Sawyer series, including Getting Away With It and The Deadly Embrace.
He lives with his wife near the Suffolk coast. His love for writing began at ten years old when his Middle School English teacher took him and other students to see Macbeth at a suburban theatre near Sheffield. After a career in the telecoms and computing industries that spanned over thirty successful years, he finally took a “sabbatical” to focus on fulfilling a dream - to publish his first novel. After almost three years of hard work, he has successfully published his debut.
He targets his stories at readers like himself, men aged 18-100, but also strives to make his books accessible and enjoyable to a broader spectrum of readers. Hence, he tries to include elements such as strong leading female characters who are pivotal to the story, rather than secondary to the male hero.
He has lived and worked around the world, including Bangladesh, Malaysia, Italy, USA and Europe and has also travelled extensively for pleasure. He tries to use his experiences in his stories, taking the reader on a global adventure as they navigate the story.
When he’s not writing, Simon is obsessed with military history and, in particular, the human element of war, such as how ordinary people are impacted and react to difficult and perplexing situations. He also loves travel and has an established, popular travel blog website called Reluctant Backpacker. To relax, he "enjoys" nothing more than watching his favourite football team, Sheffield United. He also likes to hike.
Simon is already working on book number two in the Daniel Sawyer trilogy titled Deadly Embrace.

I loved this book, from the very first page it had me wondering what was coming next, anticipating the twists and turns. Somehow they always took me by surprise and the story didn't unfold quite the way I'd thought, in a good way.
And don't worry, no spoilers here because the ending won't be what you expect, that I can assure you of.
The key characters are riveting. Daniel Sawyer is the guy we'd all like to be and yet already are. He's big, strong and tough but is also vulnerable and realistic. I want to marry Kristi, she sounds like my ideal partner and Asi, well, he's just a big loveable guy who's a little lost but would put his life on the line for his friends. Eddie Fowler gets you wanting to punch him.
I also like how the tale takes you on a trip around the world and how Simon makes you feel like you've been to those places, even though you may never have stepped foot in them. Think Andy McNab meets Lonely Planet.
An exciting adventure following Daniel Sawyer after his mundane life turns upside down.
Couldn’t put the book down, each chapter following a series of exciting twists and turns as Daniel’s once in a lifetime opportunity to see the world and live life as a fresh, new bachelor takes a turn for the worse.
Highly recommend and look forward to future books from this author!
