PART Two and the climax of the series! It's all about to explode, and Shaw Creek will never be the same again! Rhett Samuelson has always been driven to search for his purpose and his path. Through tragedy and loss, he’d had to start over alone, and struggled to find his place within the Beckett family. His purpose shifted into making a life for himself, to one day dedicating that life to helping others, and to find the happiness his mother had always wanted for him. When good intentions led to harsh consequences, Rhett found himself on an unexpected path. The birth of his daughter brought new challenges, but it also brought a love and meaning to his life that he’d been missing. For her, he’d created a stable life, and had become the father that he’d never had himself.
Ivy Littleton grew up dreaming of the day when she could be on her own. With few opportunities, little hope, and plenty of obstacles in her way, Ivy learned early on that she could only count on herself. That was until the day that fate stepped in, when her life changed for the better, and she gained a friend and ally she never saw coming. With Rhett, Ivy learned how to trust and believe in someone. As well as allowing, for the first time, another person to care for her. Their friendship blossomed as her confidence grew, and they quickly became each other’s purpose. Until it was all ripped away and torn apart, and Ivy was yet again left to figure things out alone.
With the past behind them but not completely healed, Rhett and Ivy became comfortable in their roles as best friends and co-parents to Aubrey. Too comfortable. Safe. Unwilling and too scared to see one another beyond those two roles.
Until things begin to shift, when new interests and new opportunities arise, and life isn’t as comfortable as it always has been before. Both of them struggle to face what the future could hold for them, for their friendship, for their family, and how inevitable change will alter the life they’d built together.
At the same time, Rhett is being pulled into old issues, into danger, and into loose ends that need to be tied. And until those are settled, Rhett and Ivy’s future together remains uncertain.
Shaw Creek Special Ops Series: 1. Aiden 2. Jaxon 3. Mason 4. Rhett 5. Will 6. Hector 7. Cole
Oh where do I even start? Rhett Samuelson was my favorite character from the beginning, so while I have thoroughly enjoyed every single book in this series, I’ve been anxiously awaiting his book, and I got 2 books instead of just one!! Trust me when I say this book has it all and is by far the best book of this series and quite possibly the best book I’ve ever read. My emotions were everywhere….i was back in Shaw Creek with this family that I love, feeling all of their joy and all of their heartbreak, all of their fears and all of their laughter. It was a rollercoaster and I never wanted it to end. I’m in that moment now where I wish more than anything I could Go back and read it for the first time. Rhett and Ivy’s love story is one of the most epic I’ve ever read, and the suspense in this book is not to be taken lightly. It’s got everything….love, romance, humor, suspense, action!!! So prepare to laugh, cry, yell, swoon and just be on the edge of your seat! Well done D Lynnette, pure magic yet again, you’ve outdone yourself with this one! Can’t wait for Will!
Karma has a way of giving you exactly what you need when you need it. This sentiment is on full display in the second installment of Rhett’s story and it isn’t just the main characters that get what they deserve. For Rhett and Ivy though, it’s finally the realization that the person they most needed in life was the one beside them all the time. It’s the culmination of diving into haunted backstories and shedding past traumas to work for the life and the love they deserve. This story is a delightful and intense (read: sexy, sexy, sexy) culmination of a love story that has been in the works for years, and fans of these stories definitely will not be disappointed in how sweet Ivy and quiet Rhett shed their monikers and find the best versions of themselves in each other.
But this burning love story is set against a dark background that has been brimming for four books now. Because Gabriel Andino and his right hand man Issac are done with waiting. They are done waiting for any semblance of law enforcement to try and find what happened to Ava. They are done with playing by any set of rules, even their own. The time has finally come to test their might against not only the mafia families they have enraged along the way but the Beckett/Samuelson family as well. How this epic showdown plays out is full of twisting, heartstopping moments of suspense that will have you turning the pages as fast as possible! This series has taken us on two years' worth of adventures, of heartbreaks and love stories, of laughs and tears, of trauma and redemption, and the culmination is a payoff that was worth waiting for!
Disclaimer: This review is a personal opinion and was not paid for!
I was given the opportunity to once again be a beta/arc reader and I’m so glad i was privileged not to wait as long for this continuation than others had to.
The second part picks up imeadiately where the first part left off with the family dynamic. Don’t be fooled by the sweet loving moments at first because Ivy and Rhett’s past we were introduced to in part one are about to hit them full force through the next part.
The rest of the book is going to be a new surprise every few chapters until the ultimate climax 5 books in the making near the end.
Questions are answered about why these two have such a strong bond but yet let themselves stay apart for too long. They will *finally* experience the love everyone has seen in them forever, and you will cry with them over every heartbreaking moment they experience.
Besides Rhett & Ivy, you’ll lean into the rest of events just as hard. I don’t think their story is any way a side story compared to the main plot that’s been gathering fire since the first book. You will learn more about Ava and your heart will break for her even more than you thought was possible. But you’ll love the growth and healing of her and Will; setting the stage for the next book.
Warning: there will be tears. A lot of them.
This book is worth the wait. If you weren’t in love with Rhett when you started Aiden, you will be by the time you put this book down. Honestly, by this book you should really be in love with all of the characters, even the Perettis.
First, if you haven't read the other books in this series I strongly encourage you to do so. Read them first...then you MUST come back and read this one. Action, Suspense, Romance. This book has all of that and more. It is the climax of the series and it does not disappoint. Once again, D. Lynette has you invested in the characters from the very first page. Admittedly, from the beginning of the series I was not a Rhett girl but D. Lynette made me a Rhett girl with this one. And the love story between Rhett and Ivy and everything they overcome had me cheering and crying all in the same breath. I would recommend this book and the series to anyone ...even if I wasn't an ARC/Beta Reader.
This book is a must read...but also have snacks and tissue present...you might need them.
Have you started the Shaw Creek series yet? No? Go back and start with Aiden and by the time you get to Rhett part 2 you’ll not only wish you also lived in Shaw Creek, but you’ll wish you were surrounded by the likes the of Beckett and Samuelson crew. This series is a WILD ride, through romance, through action, through comedy, through tragedy and through unlikely partnerships that end in triumph. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll most certainly be cheering on Rhett and Ivy. And boyyyyyy is that worth the wait. Stop reading reviews and start reading. Period. D. Lynette’s use of descriptive language and intense imagery easily allows you to transport yourself right into Shaw Creek and the hearts of each Beckett. Thank me later.
This book picks up right where Rhett part one leaves off. D Lynnette takes us to our favorite little Wyoming town of Shaw Creek to continue showing us our favorite family, as they continue to grow and love. This book is a great ride for your emotions—I was ecstatic, sad, scared, and angry at times, but this is what good writing does. D Lynnette makes you feel right along with the characters. If you are a fan of this series, you definitely need to continue reading. If you’ve never read this series, start with Aiden(book one)!
This emotional, action packed romance is giving un-put-down-able energy. Don’t be intimidated by the page count because Rhett Part 2 is a thousand percent worth the finish. I’m talking to that last paragraph! Loose ends are being tied up and every single one is so unbelievably satisfying. This one has the answers I’ve been waiting for.
Where do I even begin? This book gets ALL of the stars. Everything I've loved about the previous books in the series is back again in Rhett Part Two - the family, the love, the setting, the suspense (no but really, THE SUSPENSE!). I laughed, I cried, I held my breath...you will feel it ALL in this book. My only complaint...is that it had to end!
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this family - thank you for giving us the world of Shaw Creek, D. Lynnette!
Another great read by D. Lynnette! I still want to live in Shaw Creek and become part of that world. This was such an amazing, intense, funny, laugh-out-loud, and exciting book! I love the Beckett/Samuelson family and look forward to reading more. My emotions and thoughts were all over the place. *sigh*
Rating: R+ -twigger warnings (all are labeled at the start of the book), profanity throughout, open-door scenes Language: profanity, swearing, use of deity Recommend: yes
D. brings more heat and more drama with my favorite installment of the series so far. I’m a Rhett girl so it’s no surprise that I love this book so much. But even setting that aside, this series continues to get better and better. The drama and the romance kept me on the edge of my seat. I can’t wait to read it again!
Tough subject to write, but D Lynnette does a spectacular job. The characters are real, and you feel as if they are family you want to visit over and over again. I highly recommend this series. Just know their is violence and abuse. Flashbacks and wonderful memories. Surprises!
As I stated in my BIO... I just absolutely love this series. Looking forward to the last book, but I don't want it to end. This series starts with "Aiden" and can be found in Kindle Unlimited. I highly recommend!!! I have to say it is one of my top 5 series EVER READ!
Love this series absolutely one of my favorites!! Can't wait til the rest of the series comes out. I've been rooting for Rhett and Ivy since the very first book. What a tragic but amazing love story!!
