Dear reader, if you love rescue cats, goats who wear pajamas, and a cozy bookstore, you’re going to love this series by Eryn Scott. Hold on to your hats. The town of Button is as cute as they come, but that doesn’t mean it’s free of murder. These books are clean with no foul language or gore. Each book and mystery stands alone. Curl up under a cozy blanket, cuddle with a cat (or two), and come join Lou as she solves mysteries in the town of Button.

Book 4 - In Trouble with the Claw

Could Lou be falling right into the killer’s trap?

Louisa’s first fall in Button is everything she hoped it would corn mazes, pumpkin patches, quirky town traditions, and beautiful foliage. The only unexpected a dead body found in a pile of colorful leaves.

When Lou starts getting text messages about the murder, she’s wary, to say the least. Are the clues from the murderer baiting her into a trap? Or are they from someone who truly wants to help? When Lou is targeted as a suspect in the case, she may not have a choice but to listen. The mystery texter might be the only one who can help prove her innocence.

Book 5 - A Tail of Woe

In this Christmas story, there is no happy ending for Scrooge.

Louisa Henry has read the Dickens classic enough times to spot a Scrooge when she sees one. Arthur Crawford is as sour as they come. Even worse? There’s no chance for his redemption because during the town’s Christmas tree lighting, his body is found suspended in the lights of the largest pine.

No one is surprised that Arthur’s selfish ways finally caught up with him. But when it becomes apparent that the killer won’t stop, Lou must delve deep into Arthur’s Christmases past to find out who took away his Christmas future.

Book 6 - A Whisker of Danger

Finding a body in your garden center is kind of a big dill.

It’s grand opening time for Willow’s nursery. Louisa’s best friend is brimming with nerves, sure something’s going to go wrong. It doesn’t help that her beloved pygmy goat, Steve, has recently gone missing. To make matters worse, on the morning of her first day of business, Willow shows up to find her front gate wide open. She should be worried if anything has been stolen, but she’s more concerned with the body lying cold in the middle of the succulents.

When the victim is identified as an auditor for the Department of Agriculture with documentation showing Willow was in possession of plants prohibited for sale in the state, the local police look at her as their prime suspect. Willow, distraught, swears the auditor was mistaken. With a little digging, Lou discovers that Willow wasn’t the only one to have issues with the deceased man. It looks like they’ll have to venture into Brine, the pickle-themed town next door, to find allies if they have any hope of proving Willow’s innocence.

About the author

Eryn Scott

Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.

She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?

Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

4 stars (Kindle). I love a cozy mystery! What's better is when you get a pack of THREE in one purchase. It's a risk with an unknown (to you), self-published author to buy a 3-pack, but after the first bundle I felt it was worth the risk. I love the little towns with quirky names + even quirkier characters, especially the clever literary names for the rescue cats. Truly a cozy break when things around you get too heavy.

entertaining cozy mysteries

Each of the whiskers and words books can be read as a standalone. This is book 6, which takes Lou and her friends on a chase through one potential suspect after another as they try to solve the murder that occurred in the beginning of the book.

Cute ANF quirky

I love this series about a bookstore and cat rescue center, and the murders they solve in each one. A lot of murders occur in this cute, sleepy town.
