12 Hates of Christmas felt exactly like watching a cosy Hallmark movie, only in novella form, and honestly, I loved every minute of it.
The story follows Jen, a corporate lawyer who can’t stand Christmas, and dropping her into a small town overflowing with festive cheer is already a recipe for fun. Snow Falls is packed with everything she hates about the holidays, from tacky decorations to forced merriment, and her grumpy attitude makes for some genuinely entertaining moments.
What really makes this story work is how much it packs in without ever feeling rushed. There’s a light mystery woven through the plot, a villain who’s clearly only out for themselves, and a sweet, small-town romance that’s impossible not to root for. Karl, the local diner owner, is charming without being over the top, and his warmth balances Jen’s Bah Humbug energy perfectly.
This is a fast-paced, easy read that knows exactly what it wants to be. It doesn’t try to reinvent the holiday romance, and it doesn’t need to. It delivers comfort, charm, and just enough tension to keep you turning the pages.
This is my first read from Cassidy Berg, and knowing this is book seven in the Snow Falls series makes me very happy. I’m already looking forward to diving into more of her books, especially if they bring the same cosy, festive feel. If you’re in the mood for a sweet Christmas romance with a touch of mystery, this one is well worth picking up.
