Christmas in Snow Falls #7

12 Hates of Christmas

Rate this book
From the bestselling author of Christmas in Snow Falls comes a heartwarming holiday read that's perfect for fans of Jenny Hale, Sheila Roberts, Debbie Macomber, and Jill Shalvis.

Jingle Bell Rock and tacky sweaters are the bane of corporate lawyer Jen's existence. When she's forced to spend the Christmas season in the small town of Snow Falls searching for a mysterious heir, she finds herself surrounded by everything she despises about the holidays - cheesy decorations, endless crowds, and forced merriment.

The only bright spot is Karl, the handsome local diner owner who manages to charm Jen with his generosity and warmth. But with nonstop holiday bustle, a looming work deadline, and a missing heir to locate, Jen struggles to keep her Bah Humbug attitude in check. It seems finding any holiday spirit will be harder than finding the heir...until she discovers the magic of Christmas - and love - in the most unlikely place.

A heartwarming holiday tale for readers looking for some small-town, sweet romance this Christmas.

You know, there was a split second there where I wanted to give this book 3 stars. However, after reading "The Best Worst Christmas", I'm happy that I gave this one a 2 star rating.
There were some charming aspects about this book, but I think I have found that I've tried myself on contemporary romance mystery books. Just this past Halloween, I listened to 9 audiobooks of the same genre and I think that burned me out.
The book is charming in it's different approach at a Scrooge finding their love for Christmas. While I'm not the biggest fan of these sorts of stories, the author does an excellent job of stringing you along for the ride. The book really makes you settle into the Christmas spirit with it's location.
Things get a little wonky at the end when the lovers are stumped in their case, and I thought it was very unrealistic. I'm not sure if this is a YA book, but with the themes at the end, I would assume it is.

12 Hates of Christmas felt exactly like watching a cosy Hallmark movie, only in novella form, and honestly, I loved every minute of it.

The story follows Jen, a corporate lawyer who can’t stand Christmas, and dropping her into a small town overflowing with festive cheer is already a recipe for fun. Snow Falls is packed with everything she hates about the holidays, from tacky decorations to forced merriment, and her grumpy attitude makes for some genuinely entertaining moments.

What really makes this story work is how much it packs in without ever feeling rushed. There’s a light mystery woven through the plot, a villain who’s clearly only out for themselves, and a sweet, small-town romance that’s impossible not to root for. Karl, the local diner owner, is charming without being over the top, and his warmth balances Jen’s Bah Humbug energy perfectly.

This is a fast-paced, easy read that knows exactly what it wants to be. It doesn’t try to reinvent the holiday romance, and it doesn’t need to. It delivers comfort, charm, and just enough tension to keep you turning the pages.

This is my first read from Cassidy Berg, and knowing this is book seven in the Snow Falls series makes me very happy. I’m already looking forward to diving into more of her books, especially if they bring the same cosy, festive feel. If you’re in the mood for a sweet Christmas romance with a touch of mystery, this one is well worth picking up.

Finding Her Christmas Spirit

Jennifer James hated everything about Christmas. The music, the decorations, the cost. But when she was sent to Show Falls to find the last living heir to the vast Northwood inheritance, she went with her Grinch attitude. What she found was a beautiful little town that celebrated everything Christmas. Every day she asked the townspeople of they knew Casey Northwood, showed her picture. But no one had information about her. Karl, the local restaurant owner, befriended her and helped her search. At the same time he decided he would be the one to help Jen discover the beauty of the Christmas season by inviting her to the Christmas gala, ice skating, and sleigh rides. She began to enjoy the lights, the carols, and just being with Karl. When the sleazy coworker, Jack Frost, showed up she knew if he found Casey first, he would manipulate her into having access to all her inheritance. He framed Jen for his crimes and had her arrested. He got Karl's diner closed so he could get to Casey, who was staying in the upstairs apartment. But they had plenty of honest people on their side and they were able to get the truth out. Seeing Jen's heart start melting was fun. Seeing Frost get justice was great. The characters were real. The plot was interesting with layers of individual stories. I really enjoyed this book.

12 Hates of Christmas by Cassidy Berg is a great story to read just now. It has the Christmas/Scrooge feeling. Jen loathes Christmas and has to find a missing heir in a small town full of Christmas decorations and -spirit.

This short and sweet romance story was lovely to read, it has a nice writing style. It is different than normal Scrooge stories, because in this book there was also a mystery to solve, which was refreshing. And of course not everything went smoothly. Jen is a lovely character and it was nice to read how she came to believe in Christmas and in love.

Cassidy Berg has done a good job in writing this story, as a reader you really got into the Christmas spirit. It is a really nice and relaxing story to read.

This was a sweet romance that is woven in with Christmas magic and a touch of scrooge! If you love a great Christmas story along side a mystery, this one is for you!
I absolutely love the way that this small town Christmas story reminds us all what Christmas is about. The traditions, the joy and the love.
I did feel the story itself was a bit rushed due to the length, but overall I really did enjoy it. I will be reading other stories by Cassidy for sure!
I was given this short story as a ARC in exchange for a honest review.

IMO it’s misnamed

Jen is a regular Scrooge and is sent to a small town during Christmas to find a missing heir to millions. The people of the small town change her mind about Christmas as she spins wheels searching for the heir. I find it humorous that the bad guy can narrow down the search way quicker than her and I forgive the missing important details since it is a short story. 3.8⭐️

Sweet.

This was a light, quick read. The main character, Jen, hates Christmas until she is assigned to find a missing heir. The town she visits and the man she meets changes her whole outlook. Nice, sweet, story.
