Michael Hyatt recommended this, which is why I read it, but I honestly didn’t find it all that helpful. Huge swaths of this read like a transcribed stream of consciousness talk. Give academics one thing: they string together an argument a lot better. While it’s clear his Swiss Army knife approach to coaching has helped a lot of people, none of the examples were relatable because they were so extreme. Ironically, the main message that comes through is what he critiques at the outset: reframe your experiences by thinking better thoughts.

Mastin’s Reclaim Your Nervous System may be a great guide for someone
He may have a great understanding of the nervous system and guide people on how to live.

However, he does not practice what he teaches in his business.

As a former team member, Mastin has still not paid me for work I completed in 2020 despite a court judgment ⬇️ in the State of California.

I prefer to learn from coaches and teachers who practice what they teach.

GREAT book that really helped my understanding of how we physically hold energy, negative experiences and trauma. It's not just our "fault" that we can't just flip a mental switch to healing and positivity. After years of learning about physical, mental, and spiritual health this information really took me up a notch. So grateful to learn and ready for more info on the subject.

4.5 rounded up.

Some repetition (perhaps intentional), but a great overview of how the nervous system adapts in trauma-events, and what recovery looks like.

{I listened to the audiobook, which Mastin narrates, and he did a solid job - not polished, but easy to listen to}

I totally agree that our trauma is the root of our physical and emotional responses. If you have the space to take in this book, do it.
