Are you tired of hiding? Do you find yourself sitting there among the humans wishing you could be your true selves? Maybe you'd prefer a blood-cocktail instead of that glass of wine? Maybe your wings are burning with the need to fly among the clouds? Would you prefer to walk to the grocery store in the winter in your wolf form? Are your siren scales screaming to be set free in the pool with your friends? Perhaps your jinn magic is a bit too hard to contain all the time? Would life be easier if you could just pull out your wand and whip up a spell to do your chores? We know. We get it. As much as we love our human friends and the society they have built, sometimes it's exhausting pretending to be one when we were meant to be so much more. Well there's no better time to come home than for our month-long Christmas Festival! Hop on the Neverland Express train and join us for some holiday fun in the snow! We've got a parade, snowman building, food contests, the annual Christmas Eve Ball, and so much more! Leave the humans to their eggnog and ugly sweater parties, we've got MAGIC.
Love always, King Ailwin & Queen Zenobia ...& all of the Vauntero children The Night Realm : Christmas Marked series contains FIVE standalone paranormal romances, each with their own HEA! The titles
Bite Me, Santa Jingle My Bells Trim My Tree Ride My Sleigh Stuff My Stocking
Actually, it's Megelan Island, where only supernaturals can access it. Where vampires can laugh without the worry that their fangs will give them away. Fae can pop their wings out and fly if they choose. Sirens, mages, werewolves, and a jinn can be themselves on the island. Laughter, love, and sex (NOT smex!) abound.
These were not five books, more like a collection of short stories, especially the first three. I did like that they were funny, I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things I read. They were very tame I could letting my 12 year old read these stories. Not what I was expecting, but overall, okay.
I absolutely love these Christmas stories. They are like Hallmark Christmas movies meets urban fantasy. I absolutely adored these as they came out and love that they are all available together. These are seriously some of the best feel good holiday reads.
I love it, it is so nice… you just get sucked into their universe. I want to visit Megelle Island so much. The characters, their personalities is all amazing and exhilarating. Nice to read even out season
The Christmas books in this series is absolutely hilarious. It kept me on my toes the whole time. All the twists and turns, the ups and downs, I want to go visit the island, it sounds so amazing.
I am enjoying this series so much! The time table is easy put together and piece what, when and where each couple is during the celebrations, I really enjoyed that!!
I love this collection being all in one book. Just awesomesauce! I've read all five stories and highly recommend to anyone who likes fantasy and laughter.
Bite Me Santa: I read this in December 2022 and gave it 3 stars at that time. I’m not going to re-read it.
Soulmates: This seems to be a sixth story in a 5 book publication. Go figure. 4 1/2 stars. This is one of the few stories I’ve ever read that involve a mermaid. The wolf shifter was somewhat unusual in that his wolf didn’t seem to communicate with him as so many do in other books. Most wolves would have recognized their fated mate upon their first meeting but I digress. Reese has been waiting in a restaurant for over an hour as she is ghosted by the guy she’s set up with via a dating app. Holden to the rescue when he approaches her table pretending to be late for their date. They are both in the marriage market. He has to have a mate in order to become the alpha of his pack and she wants to be able to control her shifting from human to mermaid every time she gets wet. Bad dates, her sisters, his pack and the vampires were fun additions. They eventually agree to a fake marriage so they can both achieve their goals. The events leading up to this plus what happens after made this an entertaining read for me.
Trim My Tree: Just for reference, there’s a Hallmark movie that has an almost identical plot, sans magic. Woman is traveling to meet fiancés family. She ends up alone with no telephone reception. A man whose younger brother happens to have the same name as her fiancé gives her a ride to his parent's home. Everyone gets along and they have a splendid time. The “real” brother shows up and they realize she’s in the wrong house. Her fiancé arrives to take her to his parent’s home. It is more of a showcase than a home, without warmth or Christmas spirit. Meanwhile, fiancé has brokered a deal to sell her hotel and if he finalizes it before Christmas, the price paid will double. He ambushes her with this scheme and she leaves. She eventually reunites with the older brother of the first family where there’d been a strong mutual attraction. 3 stars for lack of originality, although the story was undeniably readable. (I apologize if this was written before the movie)
Ride My Sleigh: 4 1/2 stars Torren is the sole jinn living on the island. Her magic tends to morph her into an animal when she is stressed or scared. She works at an animal sanctuary and has a special affinity with the reindeer. Mateo plays Santa in the Christmas parade which calls for his sleigh being drawn by these animals. He surprises Torren with a sudden appearance and she morphs into a reindeer. This causes the herd to panic, scatter and one attacks Mateo. Mateo, one of the many royal vampire offspring, ends up in a coma in the hospital where Torren discovers he has an identical twin. She and Mateo develop matching soulmarks and his large vampire family welcomes her into the fold. Meanwhile his twin, Nashville, and Torren spend a considerable amount of time together and fall in love. Panic ensues on both their parts and it takes an outsider’s input to solve the problem.
Stuff My Stocking: 4 1/2 stars Cameron discovers her most recent boyfriend is cheating on her. Kate is more or less dumped as a lover by her best friend. They each happen to look for a place to escape to on Neverland Classifieds and agree to swap residences. Happily ever afters guaranteed after a crisis between Cameron and Jude. Kate and Brittany don’t seem to have issues that I can recall. Well worth reading and the Epilogue is epic in that I think it includes almost every single person mentioned in the earlier stories. Kudos to the authors for being able to keep everyone straight. The Vauntero family alone pretty much fries my brain.
Jingle My Bells: This story wasn’t included although listed in the Table of Contents so I guess this volume really did only have five books.
Questions and Comments: This was a great read despite the numerous misuse of words. The intended meanings were clear despite being spelled wrong and since it’s Christmas I’m not going to harp on it and show examples as I usually would.
Does the Vauntero mother ever birth the twins? What are their names? Is she going to stop getting pregnant or are there going to be 2.0 versions?
Mateo has a soul mark. Who is his fated partner?
Please, please, please have Constantine fall in love. That should be hysterical. Also Prince Riven should be brought down a notch via romance. I think Cameron’s roommates will be up to the task.
Are Sal and Jimbo a couple or just partners in crime?
