In a realm where fate is written in blood and legend, one clumsy maiden, four forbidden knights, and a cursed sword must defy destiny—or risk losing it all.
In the Hallows, legends are more than stories—they’re fate. Daphne Stone, known more for tripping over crowns than toppling kingdoms, never thought she’d wield Excalibur or become the center of a dark prophecy destined to end in her demise. Trapped beneath enchanted waters, she unravels a sinister truth: the Hallows’ beloved legends are cursed, their happy endings forged in blood and sacrifice.
Her knights—four brothers as loyal as they are lethal, were meant to guard Excalibur, not lose it to the girl who upended their world. Now they race to save her, becoming entangled with honor, duty, and an extraordinary love. But as the bonds between them grow stronger, so does the danger.
The Idols—the ancient, ruthless keepers of these stories—have ensured no one, not even a clumsy maiden, can rewrite the fate they’ve dictated for centuries. But Daphne refuses to play their game. Defying destiny itself, she embarks on a perilous quest to rewrite the legend tied to Excalibur.
To survive, Daphne must outwit immortal powers and wield a sword that seems just as likely to betray her as to save her, while every step toward freedom tangles her deeper in fierce feelings for her protectors.
The Hallows demand her sacrifice—but Daphne Stone isn’t a maiden who follows the rules of fate. She’s here to break them.
Magic, murder, and mischief collide in this high-stakes fast paced laugh-out-loud why choose fairytale romcom, where rewriting destiny comes with a price—and falling in love could be the most perilous act of all.
Adaline Winters writes heroines who bite back and the alpha males who fall to their knees because of it. Known for weaving sizzling tension with deadly twists, she delights in leading readers through stories full of betrayal, desire, and the kind of cliffhangers that leave you cursing her name—and still begging for more. If there’s one promise she makes, it’s this: her heroines will never go quietly, and her heroes will never come out unscathed.
She lives in England’s Lake District, where the scenery is dramatic, the weather is stubbornly grey, and the dog in her house is somehow even more chaotic than her characters. Her husband and daughter are used to conversations being interrupted by sudden mutterings about plot twists or declarations like, “What if I just kill him instead?”
When she’s not plotting new ways to make her readers scream (and swoon), Adaline is probably crocheting blankets that never turn out quite square, or losing precious writing time to her daily Wordle obsession. She claims it’s brain training for crafting fiendish plot twists—but in truth, she just likes to win.
Romance novels are her first love, especially those where strong, sharp-tongued heroines drive alpha males to the brink of madness. That’s the energy she channels into every book she writes: sharp, sexy, a little ruthless, and completely addictive. If you like your stories dangerous, your tension sizzling, and your heroes utterly undone by the women who refuse to bow… welcome to her worlds.
Wow, what an adventure I just experienced. I love Daphne and all her calamities. The storyline was brilliant with twists and a cliffhanger ending that has left me needing the next book. I can not see what will happen next or how she will get herself out of this situation, but she will, as she always does. If you enjoy twisted fairytales with action and adventure with comedy and calamities and spice, this series will not disappoint.
Adaline Winters throws us back into Daphnes story, again hooking us from the start as we follow the chaos Daphne creates. I am in love with the characters, especially Daphnes men. If you love fairytale retellings with a twist this is perfect for you...
Adaline Winters did it again! I don't know but I have never laughed this much in a book. I was laughing so much I was crying. From the scene with Poseidon, the floating scene, the sword touching the genie, or the cast-off Pinocchio's. Tears were coming out of my eyes I was laughing so hard my husband thought I was crazy but I couldn't explain any of this to him lol. He wouldn't understand. Oh my heart melted for Hart he was so honest and lovey with her. I started to feel bad for Malachi he was the only one who hadn't been with her and she kissed him first. Maybe he will get other firsts. 😉 I also think it is quite funny that in the previous book it stated that Theo and Malachi typically share lovers but that hasn't been done yet. One of the quotes was so touching and I think I should share it because it states how truly wise Daphne is. "I can feel their sadness leaping at my soul. I wish I could take it away from them, but sometimes we have to live through pain to understand it." No truer words have been spoken. Daphne is truly one of the best main characters I have read. She is clumsy, smart, speaks her mind, doesn't lie, she is loyal, makes fried s with anyone but also tells people like it is. Oh and she loves sausage! (In more ways than one.) Chaos and Sunshine is the perfect way to describe her.
That cliffhanger. I am so mad that I want to start reading the third book but not sure if I should. The 4th book won't be about until April of next year!! I don't think I can wait that long for Daphne-isms.
Well I’m happy to see that even under water Daphne is able to cause chaos. I was a bit worried how everything would turn out after the ending of the first book, but having her chaos helped me laugh until she finally made it back to her sister and her knights. This book have given me questions that will be nagging in the back of my head until I get the answers. Like why is Malachi the one who is the less with her sexually? And what is up with Nash? Like why did his eyes become gold for a second like Theo’ and why did Daphne think his teeth changed? I hope I’ll get answers to these questions in the next book. If there is one other thing this book has left me then it will be a certain scene that happens under the water that I will never get out of my head, and since I will be stuck with that picture I ofc had to read it out loud so the people I was with also got it stuck in their minds. But if there is one thing I did not like, then it was the ending. And I hope it will be solved really fast in book 3, because I don’t know if I will be able to read about here being separated from her knights again, and not if it involves them being with another person.
I really wish I could embody Daphne's spirit. This girl gets knocked down time and time again but still has a happy cheery attitude. I've never read a book where a character is literally cursed with chaos and still has a positive outcome.
Daphne is one special character. After all the chaos she endured in the last book she's back at it with more chaos and adventure. Becoming the new Lady of the Lake, encountering Idols, and stressing out her loved ones like no other. She's the definition of never a dull moment. I found myself stressing out with her men, laughing at all her chaos and in aww of her spirit. Adaline introduced new fairy tales into this twisted romance and put her own little spin on it. I love how the classic tales I grew up with as a kid got turned into this RH romcom type of romance novel.
Thank you, Adaline, for bringing this twisted fairy tale romance to life. I can honestly say I can't wait for the next book because WHAT WAS THAT ENDING!!!! You can't do your readers like this. I was screaming at that twist. I think Daphne handled it better than your readers lol
Tangled is a funny and riotous romp through a world made of traditional fairytales. Daphne, her sister Gwyneth, her four knights and a supporting cast of magical beings are working together to break from the prewritten ending determined for them. They move through narratives and across familiar stories to create their own hilarious adventure.
It is impossible not to love Daphne and her clumsy irreverence. The situations she finds herself in are brilliantly written and told with such humour. But beyond the comedy, you also find yourself cheering alongside this character. The only person not seeing her power and magnificence is Daphne herself.
This is a fun and detailed why choose with a wide cast of entertaining side characters. The romance is a teasing slow burn with Daphne being cherished by her knights. The chemistry is heated with a sense of an inevitable climax (which we have yet to reach! Adaline is edging us masterfully). A brilliant part two with a frustratingly awful cliffhanger.
Oh wow! Another amazing book from Adaline. Adaline has produced a superb follow on from 'Wicked', in which Daphne's saga develops further in this book with the continued chaos and calamity as can only be expected from Daphne. Adaline's writing is amazing, yet again, the imaginative and descriptive detail throughout the book continues to enhance the storyline without it being overwhelming or detrimental to the brilliantly written plot. Daphne's love for all things 'sausage' continues in Tangled, whilst the plot thickens around her, her Knights and Gwyneth within the 'Fairytale' narrative, as Daphne continues to cause unintentional chaos drawing in new powerful characters along the way with her unknowingly hidden magnetism. I can't wait to see how this saga continues in book 3, especially due to the current ending (no spoliers). Will it be a disastrous ending for Daphne, or will she and her Knights get their HEA?
Do not read when you aren’t alone… this book will have you laughing, giggling and cause the occasional unattractive laughter- snort. From beginning to end, this book was wild, chaotic and absolute mishmash of everything you could imagine when you see it’s a fairytale story, and yet regardless of the absurdity of it all, it’s brilliant. I couldn’t put it down, I was as h00ked as I was reading the first book. I can’t wait for the next book, I need more of Daphne and her Knights. Daphne’s logic & her inner dialogue had me crying with laughter, I loved her character even more in this book. I can’t wait to see if she manages to make some new friends in her next adventures. I loved the Knights, I’ve been on Team Nash but I am leaning towards Hart after this book. Looking forward to seeing if that changes.
If you want a lighthearted romcom, then this is the book for you. Definitely recommend
If there’s one thing Daphne is good at, it’s finding trouble or rather, having it hunt her down like she owes it money. This girl can’t go anywhere without some kind of catastrophe unfolding, and honestly? It’s hilarious. Her inner monologue alone deserves its own spin-off series, and her love for sausages? Borderline concerning, but also wildly entertaining.
The knights do their best to keep her out of trouble, but let’s be real they never stood a chance. The moment Daphne is left alone, the universe goes, “Ah yes, time to ruin her day.” And that cliffhanger ending? Rude. I need the next book immediately or I might start my own calamity.
If you love twisted fairytales, action, adventure, and a heroine who attracts chaos like a magnet, Tangled is the perfect read. Just be prepared to laugh, gasp, and possibly develop a newfound appreciation for sausages.
Make sure you read Wicked first. This is not a standalone series.
Brilliantly original and hilarious take on fairy tales and mythology and the characters that can fight back and change their fates.... Daphne stone is endearing, silly, and you can't help but want to champion her on her quest to change things within the realm of fairy tales. She's a lucky girl with four extremely hot knights by her side as she faces countless trials. Her mirror man is hilarious and I love how she makes the most unlikely allies as she travels through stories, while trying to discover her own powers and purpose. It got even more intriguing as the plot continues to twist and turn. You will not be able to predict what happens next. I am looking forward to learning more about Malice, and hope that Daphne reunites with her knights soon. The story is funny, I love the characters, and there is plenty of spice to keep you warm.
"How much am I willing to risk for them? The answer is terrifying. Everything. I would risk it all."
Miss Calamity is at it again in Tangled, book 2 of the Legends of the Hollows series! Daphne is such a quirky character with her humorous commentary, unique nomenclature, and obsession with sausage. You can't help but love her and her shenanigans.
I enjoyed the integration of the classic fairytales into this series plotline. You never know what twist Adaline will put into those stories and characters. Not to mention, the ending was wild! Daphne is in one interesting pickle. Will her sister and the brothers discover the truth? I'm so invested in finding out what happens next!

Ok, so our girl is continuing to earn her the 'Calamity' nickname that Mr moody Hart has given her, she's still obsessed with sausage and still awesome. Not only is she collecting magical sidekicks but she also manages to get an eyeful of the one and only Posidon's man sausage- there's more 'i wish i didn't see that' moments for our Daph with him too- too funny! Then there's the mirror dude- if we didn't love him and all his accepting glory, then we definitely do by the end of this book. He's just the best supporting character, always there, always positive for our girl.
That ending though- WTF??!!! I am all for making team 'lets go feed the wench to the capons' and going all chippty chop on that baddies behind!
Daphne is back with all her calamitous shenanigans, and I can't be more happy! I've been desperate to read this since book one finished, and it didn't disappoint.
Idols, knights, gigantic eating utensils, magic mirrors, manic pixies, cunning crocodiles, too many sausages to count...it's a glorious romp through a fairy-tale world that had me laughing out loud, shedding a tear, and groaning every time Daphne got *this close* to a real sausage, only to have it whipped away again. Poor Daphne.
Saying I love this series is an understatement. Adaline's creativity and imagination never ceases to amaze, and I cannot wait to see where Daphne's story leads us in Destined. Chop, chop, Mrs. Winters. I need it now.
I simultaneously wish I’d started this series sooner and waited to read it until the 4th book is out! I’m a hardcore binger and the fact that I’ve read the 1st 2 books in this series in 3 days (while working full-time!!! Who needs sleep when these books are around!) Now I have to wait almost a year for the 4th book and the conclusion! I swear Adaline Winters shares my ADD brain and put it into this series! Literally laughed out loud (may have snorted once or twice…) so many times! This series is definitely getting the honor of being placed on my physical bookshelf along with my ereader bookshelf!
So glad Adaline has several other stories out there to keep me enter while waiting for book 4!
Review: I really enjoyed this book! This is the second book in the Legends of Hallows series. Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off. This series is about Daphne and 4 brotherly knights. Daphne lives with her sister. Every year prince charming searches the realm for his Cinderella. This year he has chosen Daphne’s sister. The 3 of them go to Prince Charming’s castle. There Daphne meets 4 knights. Together they turn the tale as old as time on its head. Will the Idols, who demand the original storyline. I really enjoyed the continued relationship development. I enjoyed teh continued world building. This book does end on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read book 3.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say that I’m completely obsessed with this series!! I love everything about this fairytale world!
Daphne is one of the most unpredictable characters and has me in stitches majority of the time with her inner thoughts and impulsive actions. You never know what’s going to happen from one page to the next!
I’m absolutely loving the mixture of fairytale storylines with a unique twist to them all! I’m beyond excited to find out what’s coming next after that unimaginable ending! This story will be living rent free in my head until I can get my needy little hands on book 3 whenever it releases!
Just when I thought I could get lost in the hilarity of the land of broken fairy tales, Daphne has to go and prove that a girl from nothing, part of no narrative of her own, can weave her way into several of the most iconic fairytales, becoming the main character of her own story in the most unserious of ways, completely by accident. But with her sister's smarts and the hearts of 4 (yes, you read that right) 4 brave knights, she might just be able to untangle herself from the narrative, or ...not. Don't worry, there are plenty of laughs between catastrophes.
Well, there’s a cliffhanger… thankfully, book 3 is out. So there is that…
Okay, the interwoven fairytale storyline’s is really skilfully done. It’s hard to predict what is coming next because -as it goes with Daphne’s character - calamity and chaos follow her around like two capons. And somehow it still works out in her favor, most of the time.
Her knights are almost too good to be true, but each offer a different “flavor” -if you will.
Her sister and charming are a hilarious story that keeps coming back, and you can’t help but feel bad for that guy, despite him being so shortsighted.
“What would you do for love? The answer is stunningly simple. What wouldn’t I do?”
Our girl Daphne continues to ask the real questions! Tangled picks up right where Wicked left off, and Daphne and her Stirling brothers are not getting a moment of peace! In this book, I really loved the pacing and continuous development of the characters and relationships, plus the addition of more magical sidekicks! The book flows together perfectly as our main characters fight against the legends to win their happily ever after, as well as making sure others get theirs. After that ending, I cannot wait for the next book!
Daphne (FMC) has an innate ability to bumble her way from one calamity to another. Her quirky off the wall sense of humour, hilarious one liners and internal monologues all of which had me in stitches from the first book. She's a trouble magnate that seems to find it wherever she is. In this book we have a sword with a sense of humour and a merman with a kink which just added to chaos that is called Daphne. Its a good job she has her sister with her to be the voice of reason. I'm flaming loving this series so much and I'm looking forward to more books in it.
Daphne found out so much, went through so much again but het spirit has never been higher!
Absolutely loved the fact Hart finally gave in. All the brothers go for Daphne and het sister is still at her side. Both trying to forge their own path no matter what Idol they have to face.
To be honest I loved the ocean when Daphne was in it! Even though she wasn’t with het knight. and of course she keeps on making more friends! Even those to stay to help her in her quest.
I need book 3 already! This serie is sooo good 🔥🔥🔥
Wow! It's great to get back to Daphne Stone's adventures (and misadventures!). She is such a great character and this book does not disappoint (apart from ending on another cliff-hanger and leaving me desperate for more). These are such fun books to read and are a great twist on classic fairy tales. Guaranteed to leave you wanting more and I'm now desperate to find out how Daphne escapes from her latest calamity!
This is Daphne’s story. Continues from the first book. Daphne is Lady of the Lake and is in possession of Poseidon’s Trident and Excalibur. Very enjoyable read as always by Adaline. Lots of laughs out loud during the story. The world building is amazing. Talking swords and sausages galore. Again leaves us with more questions and a lovely cliffhanger. Now have to wait patiently for the next book.
Please read book one Wicked before reading Tangled.
The love I have for this series and author is what keeps me coming back for more (even though there's a cliffy). Daphne is such a relatable character. She wants the happiness of her family and good sausage lol (IYKYK) The storytelling and the integration of fairytales you thought you knew is phenomenal. The way the cliffy left me had me holding my head and heart.
I love Daphne! This is book 2 all about her and her calamities which are hilarious- you will laugh out loud. This time she is underwater and the new characters are a great fit - fairytale characters with a bit of a twist. The descriptions of the world under the water characters show a different side to tradition and it’s fabulous! I’m ready for the next book and some more of the 4 men in her life !
Daphne’s adventure continues as she attempts to stop Prince Charming from kidnapping her sister and finds herself in the middle of her own kidnapping. Dragons, shape shifters, curses, King Arthur, gods, Lady of the Lake, and some Snow Whites and Sleeping Beauties only prove that if Daphne wants to help her sister, they need to change the narrative…
Reasons I Recommend:
1) Theo, Hart, Malacai, and Nash are determined to keep Daphne, even if they have to share her, and each one is possessive in his own way
2) A fresh take on fairy tales, the narrative, and how it reflects on the characters themselves and the route their lives take once they accept the narrative as determined by the Idols and
3) How Daphne’s chaos forces the narrative on his head and puts her smack down in the middle of every story.
Amazing, how does Daphne get tangled in such calamities. This was a great follow on from Wicked. You get to fall more in love with Daphnes brand of crazy chaos, the magical objects she seems to collect and of course the Stirling’s. I can’t believe how it ended and I desperately need more. Bring on book 3.
This was an amazing read that grabbed me from the beginning. It moves along a a pace that is the perfect speed for this story. Speeding up and slowing down as needed. The characters are so real that you feel as though you know them. You want to be there for them no matter what happens. This book has to be read, you will not be disappointed that you did. It is a must read.
