The period of Late Antiquity (circa 300-640 CE) has been described by many historians as the “transformation of a world”, forming the transition from the classical to the Christian world. At the epicenter of this transition is Alexandria in Egypt. And this is where Hypatia was born.

Hypatia was the most educated woman in the ancient world, one of the most skilled mathematicians, among the first to believe and try to convince people that everyone should be equal and have access to education. Great work , describes the history of Hypatia, in a simple, understandable and respectful to the facts way. This book is full of messages about gender equality, the right to education, the empowerment of women, the importance of science, the consequences of religious fanaticism. The text is concise, meaningful, emotional and in absolute correspondence with the excellent illustration.

This is the first time I've read a children's book with a bibliography, with an excellent translation from Greek to English. Amazing performance of Hypatia's life, adapted for children! Excellent writing and illustration. All the historical truth about her life, work and death is given, with ΝΟ details that could scare a child!
