Crescent Cove #0.5

Taming The Boss

Rate this book
Falling for my grumpy new boss was unexpected. Falling into his…shower and not taking precautions? Even more so.

Stumbling over the ad searching for a nanny changed my life. And the address led right to the fancy big house on a hill overlooking Crescent Lake…

The one that had just come off the market in a high-stakes bidding war.

Owned by a secretive, hot newcomer in town everyone was speculating about. He had complicated, secret connections in the Cove about to rock one of the town’s founding families.

Not to mention, an adorable little boy he just discovered—with no mother in sight.

Apparently, I was going to be his new nanny. Or maybe his son’s new mommy?

And potentially, once that pregnancy stick reveals two lines, the wife of the Cove’s newest billionaire mogul in the making…

Author’s Note: TAMING THE BOSS can be read as a standalone single father and nanny forced proximity romance novel although it is book one in our The Moguls spinoff trilogy set in our small town Crescent Cove. It has a happily-ever-after ending and no cliffhanger.

I love that Taming the Boss is in the Crescent Cove world and the start of the Mogul series by Taryn Quinn. I love single dad trope and that Jude, Maddie and little Owen found each other. Wonderful small town romance with heart and heat.

Maddie fell in love with her new charge, Owen, the minute she saw him, and now she's falling for Owen's dad, Jude. Though they haven't exactly defined what their situation is, she knows she can't think of her life without Jude and Owen now.

The last thing Jude expected when he rolled into this small town looking for the brothers he never knew he had, was to somehow end up with a nanny that he couldn't resist. Now they're in an undefined situation, and he's realizing his life has gotten innumerably better. Is it possible that though he came here looking for his brothers, that he'd end up with even more - a son he loves, and a woman he never saw coming?

This new spinoff trilogy does its parent series so good. Maddie is adorable and sassy, someone with a big, loving heart just looking for someone(s) to give all that love to. Owen and Jude are the perfect recipients for her love - Owen needs a mom, and Jude needs a strong partner who loves him as much as she loves his son. I wanted to smack Jude a time or two in the beginning, before he grew into the man Owen and Maddie deserved, but by the time the sweet epilogue rolled around, I had fallen in love with him and knew that Maddie and Owen had the the amazing partner and dad they needed. Some of Crescent Cove's most beloved residents have cameos, and it was so good to get more of the og's. If Jude and Maddie's love story is any indication, I know this spinoff is going to be just as sexy, fun, and baby-tastic as the original Crescent Cove stories.

TAMING THE BOSS is the first instalment in Taryn Quinn’s contemporary, adult THE MOGULS erotic, romance series, a spin off , set in the Crescent Cove series. This is thirty-three year old, billionaire businessman/ single father Jude Keller , and twenty-one year old, nanny Maddie Masterson’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Maddie and Jude) TAMING THE BOSS follows Jude Keller’s arrival in Crescent Cove in the wake of the discovery of a son he never knew. A new home, a new town, and a child of three, Jude’s attitude leaves something to be desired, an attitude that requires a nanny and a strong hand. Enter Maddie Masterson, the woman with whom Jude will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Jude and Maddie, and the introduction of Jude’s extended family and their surprise revelations.

The world building focuses on Jude’s struggle as a single father, oblivious to just about everything a child needs or wants. As Maddie dives head first into the world of nanny and cook, Jude discovers his lack of parenting skills is matched by his lack of the basic knowledge of how the real world runs.

The relationship between Jude and Maddie begins acrimoniously as a flustered Jude struggles with real world problems. Having already applied for the position as nanny, Maddie begins to take charge before agreeing to help raise Jude’s son Owen. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include businessmen Xavier Hastings and Gavin Forrester, Jude’s sister Sydney Keller brothers Oliver and Seth Hamilton; father James Hamilton, as well as Jude’s ex Melissa Smith; and Maddie’s extended family and over protective brother Christian.

TAMING THE BOSS is a story of secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is inviting ; the characters are sassy and animated ; the romance is spicy .

Taming The Boss: A Nanny and Billionaire Grumpy Boss Romance (Crescent Cove) is between Jude Keller, a real estate entrepreneur, who needs a nanny, and Maddison (Maddie) Masterson, the younger sister of four older and overprotective Masterson brothers (Chris (policeman), Moose, (software developer) Travis (single dad and model) and Penn (graphic novelist). Crescent Cove is known as the town’s home of unplanned and unexpected pregnancies. Strangers need to be aware of drinking the water. It didn’t deter Jude from having a one-night stand with a local girl when he blew into town three years earlier to check out a lead on having half-brothers and found himself in a new real estate partnership with two other local men who wanted to improve Crescent Cove and not turn it into a resort. Until Jude receives information about a three-year-old son, he is unaware he has one who needs to be taken care of since his mother was leaving to pursue her Off-Broadway acting career but would pick him back up at the end of summer. With all the baggage from Jude’s current family and his newly discovered son imposed upon him, he is more than willing to be a present father once he figures out what that means in real life.
Meanwhile, he needs a nanny to help out so he can work. Maddie, who works part-time at a flower shop, encounters Jude and agrees to help out with his son Owen as a live-in nanny. Ohhh, lalala! The instant attraction between Jude and Maddie, with raging hormones dancing around in a town known to cause instant pregnancy, is what good romance stories are made of. Maddie and Jude have family opposition, drama galore, and an adorable 3-year-old laden with spicy heat between the pages as they battle their way to a HEA. Taryn Quinn’s writing duo is the best in their craft of spinning out love stories that their readers can’t wait to read.

The story starts with....... Jude Keller, who is a handsome, rich realtor from Seattle, who recently found out a family secret... He may have two half brothers in Crescent Cove !! He blows into the Cove, starts up a friendship & realty partnership with Gavin Forrester and Xavier Hastings. To celebrate they drink, eat and Jude has a one night stand in the baby making capitol of America.....
Three years later, Jude (33) has moved across the country, bought a huge mansion in Crescent Cove, is Part owner of one of the biggest real estate groups in the area & is responsible for a three year old son (Owen) he never knew about. Owen's mum needed to travel with the play she is part of.
Madison Masterson (21) is the bright, outgoing youngest sibling in the Masterson family. She has four extremely overprotective, huge, older brothers. Christian (Senior Police Officer), Moose (Murphy) Carpenter / Software Developer, Tristan (Model / Single Dad & Penn (Graphic Artist). She works part time in one of the local flower stores and answers Jude's ad for a nanny to help with Owen.
A chance meeting in the florist shop, a little boy whose shoes hurt, an urgent need for a nanny and explosive sexual chemistry all lead to one brilliant, funny and surprising story.
Throw in a niece who listens to murder podcasts and see's murderers / abductors around every corner, an over protective brother who is a law officer, a mother with a secret and family a lot closer than anyone would have believed and you get all of the fun, shock and romance that Taryn@s books are so famous for. Also add in one hell of a sexy shower scene !!
You will thoroughly enjoy this book, Maddie (Baddie according to Owen) and Jude are a match made in heaven, now they just have to show everyone else that they are meant to be together.

I am absolutely loving the start of Taryn Quinn's newest series Crescent Cove: The Moguls! It's Crescent Cove adjacent and we get to see a bunch of our favorite CC characters which is a real treat! Taming The Boss is a boss/employee, grumpy x sunshine, single dad, spicy, must-read romance. It's funny, emotional, and full of heat and heart. There's a lot to unpack with this story and it moves at a fast pace. The characters, the setting, and the storyline are all superb. A hot, wealthy single dad and the nanny? Yes, please!

Maddie and Jude are such a great couple. There is a pretty big age gap between them but nothing was going to stop them from falling in love. Jude starts out as this grumpy, stuffed shirt until he meets and hires twenty-one-year-old Maddie, who helps him loosen up and learn to be a father to Owen. Maddie is young, beautiful, nurturing, and sweet, and Jude can't help falling for her...and fast! These two had a ton of chemistry and boy did they act on it. They were hot, hot, HOT! Quinn wrote Maddie and Jude a super spicy story that had me fanning my face throughout. And boy did I love every minute of it!! And don't get me started on Owen....he was freaking ADORABLE! Every time he called for "Baddie" (how he pronounced Maddie), I giggled because it was so darn cute!

Taming the Boss was such a joy to read. I loved everything about it and fans of Quinn's as well as new readers will fall head over heels for this story. I cannot wait for the next installment of this very promising new series! 5 stars

This books may be related to the Crescent Cove series (and have the characters show up as well!) but it is the start of a new off shoot series and can absolutely be read as a standalone! Falling for my grumpy new boss was unexpected. Falling into his…shower and not taking precautions? Even more so. Stumbling over the ad searching for a nanny changed my life. And the address led right to the fancy big house on a hill overlooking Crescent Lake. The one that had just come off the market in a high-stakes bidding war. Owned by a secretive, hot newcomer in town everyone was speculating about. He had complicated, secret connections in the Cove about to rock one of the town’s founding families. And potentially, once that pregnancy stick reveals two lines, the wife of the Cove’s newest billionaire mogul in the making.

I loved how Jude and Maddie's story played out. They have this instant chemistry, but they also genuinely like each other. Jude is definitely out of his element with a child he didn't know about. But how it all plays out with him was super cute. I loved how he and Maddie not only come together as a couple, but they truly make a family together with Owen. My only drawback? I wish that there had been something to show how he goes from meeting his brothers to the 3 years later. But I really think that is just something I would like to see! Otherwise, I loved every bit of this story!

Adorably cute and entertaining, this new series with links to Crescent Cove already has my attention. With new and excitingly sexy characters, and a bit of mystery thrown in, I loved this book to the very last page and can't wait for the next one. Plus an adorably sweet three year old boy steels the show in this book!

Jude Keller finds himself in an unexpected situation when he shows up in Crescent Cove. With a fancy new house on a hill overlooking Crescent Lake, two business partners he didn't know just days ago, and a three year old son he just discovered, Jude needs a nanny, NOW!

Maddy Masterson barely makes ends meet with several part time jobs and feels a bit like she's floating through life without a tether. When a gorgeous older man with an attitude walks into the floral shop where she works she does her best to calmly take his order. Chasing him out to his car for his name she finds he isn't alone. And she quickly realizes this is the same man whose ad for a nanny she answered.

With both Jude and Maddy immediately caught up in little Owen and his too tight shoes, Maddy is eventually pulled into a situation she would have never expected. Jude is much older than her, and her three older brothers are not going to like where things are headed at all.

And with Jude's secret connection to the Cove the answers he seeks may be far more unexpected than he is ready for.

I received an ARC and freely offer this review.

I have been a fan of the Crescent Cove series since the first installment, Have My Baby came out almost 7 years ago! Time really flies in this small, family centric town. Jude Keller ended up in Crescent Cove to research his hidden roots 3 years ago. After a wild weekend he went back to his life in Seattle not knowing that left behind a bit of himself back then. Now it's 3 years later and he just found out about a son that he had no knowledge of and is changing his life to be the father that his son deserves no matter that he has no idea what he's doing. A twist of fate in a local floral shop brings Maddie Masterson into his life. Maddie is young and the baby of her family but there's one that that she knows and it's how to love. Jude wants Maddie as his son's nanny from the moment that he meets her but he also wants more. Jude is truly clueless but thankfully Maddie looks at life from the positive side and she's the breath of sunshine that both Jude and his young son Owen desperately need. Taming The Boss was really fun. So many previous characters from Crescent Cove show up in their story that it had me smiling the entire time. It was told from dual POV and it's very sweet but with all the heat that you expect from a Taryn Quinn book. I'm looking forward to more books in the Moguls series.

Do I even need to say that Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn have another winner in the land of Crescent Cove? That I loved it and couldn't put it down, and thank the heavens above that these ladies are amazing and keep me in books that make me oh, so happy? All of these things are true, and, y'all, I cannot even with the plethora of yum in this one.

Not only are Jude and Maddie another Cove couple to love, there's the adorable Owen, SO many friends and family that we already know and adore, and, bless my heart, Xavier, Gavin, and Max and all of their stories to look forward to. Knowing that there are plenty of Cove adventures still to come makes this reader a very happy girl.

I want to mention how extra-special this book is, too. The subject of found family, of how love and acceptance can bring healing of a lifetime of loneliness and distance, these things are so important. Maddie has, in a sense, truly saved Jude's life, showing him how beautiful and freeing openness, honesty, and unconditional love can be. The ladies have outdone themselves with this story, and my heart is so, so happy. This is one that you do not want to miss, I promise you. ❤️

Oh My Goodness! I don't know how they do it but this series just keeps getting better and BETTER! This time we have Maddie and Jude. Jude is new to town after finding out he has another family he didn't know about. He comes to town on a lurk to see what, where, and maybe find something and finds roots when he teams up with two others to buy a piece of property. That night he has a tryst that changes his life but he doesn't know how much until he is contacted he has a son and it is his turn to take care of him. That brings him back to Crescent Cove and needing a nanny. That brings him to finding Maddie. It is a chance meeting, even though she has applied for the job, he finds her at the flower shop, and when she chases after him and then meets his son, Owen, there is no hope for any of them. I hope you all enjoy this story as much as I did. There are cameos from citizens we have met in the previous stories and don't forget about Maddie's protective brothers because they won't let anyone forget about them.

Jude is a billionaire (of course) and needs a Nanny for his son Owen (3 yrs old). Maddison is currently living at home, a college dropout, with a large extended family. She has NO certifications or qualifications to be a nanny besides family babysitting. and it shows in her interactions with Jude. there is sexual harassment, groping/fingering the nanny WHILE IN THE CAR AND OWEN IS IN THE BACK SEAT. Asking how wet the nanny is with the toddler in the back seat is wrong on so many levels. That's what turned me off at the start.
Jude treats his lawyer and his admin assistant as a personal shopper. I mean, who doesn't know a kitchen needs pots, pans, utensils, plates etc? he went to college and lived away from home.
back to Jude and Madison, of course, they have sex and she ends up pregnant. but honestly, the book is a very tough read. Sadly, this is the first book I haven't been able to finish. I like a little more touch of reality in with my romance.

Interesting new adjacent series to Crescent Cove and other Taryn Quinn related series. For readers of these beloved series there are so many fun interactions with places and people we know and love. I really enjoyed the Prologue and would have enjoyed more around the formation of the new friendship between the three Moguls before chapter one which starts three years later. I really enjoyed Jude’s storyline finally connecting with his family in Crescent Cove. This is an insta-lust, insta-love age-gap story (not usually my favourite), but it works for them forming a new family with adorable Owen. Lots of new characters in this universe, but also lots of interactions with well known favourites and I am looking forward to getting to know the other two moguls and Jude's sister in the next couple of stories.

This book is set in Crescent Cove as a new spinoff, it is an age gap, instant attraction love story with some definite heat, and a Happy Ever After ending. When we are introduced to Jude Keller, he is an overwhelmed single father with no idea how to take care of his 3-year-old son and balance work. Maddison Masterson needs a job that will pay enough for her to move out of her parent's house, so when she sees an ad for a Nanny position, she's all in, figuring her babysitting experience will be enough. After meeting Jude, Maddison has some indecisive moments with her decision to become involved with Jude any further than, being a nanny for Owen. But this is Crescent Cove...
We get to visit with some of the Crescent Cove characters we already know and meet a few we don't.

This is an insta-lust, insta-baby, aga gap story.
Jude is from Seattle but comes to Crescent Cove to look for his half siblings he just found out about. While doing that he forms a partnership with two other Cres ent Cove men to buy a property on tge lake.
Fast forward 4 years and Jude is back because he discovers he has a son. He is a single father who has no idea what he is doing. He has no clue what his son needs or even what his house needs . He uses his personal assistant and lawyer as people to do whatever he wants. He needs a nanny.
Maddie is a 21 year old who is trying to figure out what she wants with her life. She decides to apply for the nanny job.
They click immediately and things move very quickly. They become an instant family. And of course since they are in the Cove - there is a baby.
I will say this was not one of my favorite books by these authors.

Secret Family? Check!
Secret Baby? Check!
Boss & Nanny? Check!

This book has all of my favorite tropes and so many new and old characters to love. Jude was on a mission to see if everyone in his family was as distant and cold as his mother. What he found was a new opportunity to recreate what family means. Without giving away too many spoilers fast-forward a few years and Jude finds himself with a small family of his own and in need of assistance ASAP! Into their lives walks Maddie. Through their shared love of Owen and their close proximity they find that playing house is easier when the the feelings are anything but pretend! Taryn Quinn's writing always hooks me. Easy fun reads that are as addictive as they are sweet! Crescent Cove is known for instalove and babies; if that’s your jam, you’ll love this book!

Four and a half stars

TAMING THE BOSS is the first in Taryn Quinn’s Crescent Cove: The Moguls spin-off. Jude Keller visits Crescent Cove from Seattle to follow-up on a rumor that he’s got a couple half brothers there…. A prior one-night stand leads to his being surprised by a son whose mother wants to be footloose and fancy-free to pursue her acting career. So now he needs a nanny…. Maddison (Maddie) Masterson is looking for a way to get out of the way of her loving but at times overbearing brothers, and she’s more than qualified to take care of the cutie pie Owen.

So… yes, Maddie falls for Owen, and yes, Jude and Maddie might also be doing some falling… Taryn Elliott and Cari Quinn bring their best game to Taming the Boss—heartwarming and hot and fun and funny. Don’t miss this.

These stories out of Crescent Cove always grab my heart, and this story with Jude and Maddie did not disappoint. A single dad, new to town, looking for help with his young son? Yes please. Throw in Maddie who is full of her own brand of spice and is able to keep Jude on his toes from the first second! Great! I also love that we get visits from other loved characters as the story progresses. The story shows us a growth with Jude and his adorable son, growing that connection to be the best he can as a dad. The heat is high, the friendships, and family are great, and is able to give us a loved read all around.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Jude has the toddler son he didn’t know existed dumped on him. He does the best he knows, which is not great. Maddie applies for his nanny position and starts helping him even before they know that fact. Poor Owen is just a lost little guy. Jude learns very quickly and does better. Jude is immediately smitten with Maddie and gets to see her flirt with other men. He definitely lets her know he is interested. I love the family relationships that develop. I hope Sydney figures out that she can be part of it because she is lost. I like that people around town (except some of her family) are ok with Maddie and Jude’s relationship moving quickly.

Apparently Jude didn't know about the baby magic of Crescent Cove when he arrived here several years ago. A hook up left him with a son he never knew about until the mom needed him to take over for a bit. Jude stepped up immediately and tried to find a nanny. Unfortunately, Jude didn't grow up with much love from his mom and therefore isn't good at showing tenderness with his son. He's like a fish out of water. Owen, the son, is a delight. He and "Baddie" his name for Maddie hit it off immediately. It seems that Maddie not only needs to show love and attention to Owen but it seems like her boss needs some as well.

Loved it!

Wow! A new spinoff of my favorite Crescent Cove series, The Mogul Trilogy. Once again individuals, friends and family are woven into the main story.
Jude Keller, a rich, hot newly known clueless single father and Maddison Masterson (Maddie), desperate to find a job that will allow her to move out of her parents home. Maddie follows up on an add for a nanny position ...and so the story begins.
Jude and Maddie have an instant connection with all the feels, lots of friends and family with extra helpings of support and love.
I enjoyed reading this book as well as all and anything Crescent Cove with all the babies, by two amazing authors.

📐 1+1=4?

Jude came to Crescent Cove to check out his new found brothers. Instead he meets Gavin and Xavier at an auction. Two strangers who quickly become business partners and fast friends. Several years later, Jude finds out he's a father who desperately needs a nanny who instantly realizes she, Maddie, is his one. A fun journey that introduces more new people to the Cove and visits with many of the original characters. There's STILL something in the water. Lol. Great characters and storyline with no cheating or cliffhanger and you get the beginning of a happy ever after. Enjoy 🤓

Insta-love set in Crescent Cove! Jude finds out he has a son three years after the fact. The mother is travelling for the summer & expects Jude to take him for the summer. He's trying his best to be a good father and is struggling to cope. He places an add for a nanny, and Maddie applies. Maddie hits it off instantly with both Jude & his son Owen. Lots of touching moments. Loved how Jude, Maddie & Owen overcome obstacles & opposition to fall and love & become a family. (Loved the proposal and wedding!) Definitely recommend this book!

A spin-off trilogy from the Crescent Cove series? Yes, please!!!

Apparently, Jude Keller wasn't knowledgeable about the Crescent Cove myth when he was in town 3 years ago! He certainly got the surprise of his life when he found out he has a son. Now, the real-estate mogul needs a nanny. Enter Maddie Masterson. She's a nonstop worker bee just trying to make enough to move out on her own. Who knew answering the nanny needed ad was going to change her life. She’s beyond perfect for Jude - she keeps him on his toes, and I'm so here for that!!

What an adorable and entertaining book Taming the Boss is to start a new series. Maddie is doing what she can to make ends meet, when she applies for a nanny position. Jude is a busy real estate agent with a cute 3-year-old, Owen. Owen definitely has moments where he steals the show in the story The attraction between Maddie and Jude is instant, neither is looking for a relationship or starting a family. I truly enjoyed reading their romance journey and loved to cameos of some of favorites from Crescent Cove. Really cann’t wait until the next one in the series.

Great addition to the Cresent Cove universe

Very cute addition to the Cresent Cove universe. It was fun reuniting with characters I haven't seen in a while, and of course, meeting new ones.

Jude and Maddie are wonderful, and I loved seeing sparks fly from the moment they met. This book has my laughing as much as it has me saying, "Awww."

This story would make sense as a standalone, but you get the bonus of having "met" most of these characters before if you've read the other Cove/Kensington Square books.

Great sweet and spicy, lighthearted read.

Moguls in Crescent Cove are bringing the heat!

Never did I ever think that moguls would enter the Crescent Cove universe. They bring another level of depth to the beauty that is Crescent Cove. Maddie sure knows how to tame Jude and getting to see them intertwine their lives is such a fabulous treat. The power, the sass and the love shine bright in this story. Taryn Quinn brilliantly brought Jude into Crescent Cove in such an inventive way. I loved all the things about this book. Owen stole the show and you will agree once you read it! Can’t wait for the next one.

Jude and Maddie give all the feels!

Welcome back to Crescent and this sweet new romance. This one features Maddie Masterson (sister of such favorites as Christian and Moose) and Jude Keller (Hamilton), yes those Hamiltons! Two of the Cove’s favorite families are uniting for a little romance!

This book is a great dive into the Crescent Cove world. If you are a fan of sweet love stories, falling for the boss, age gap romances, and the Nanny falling for her family, then this is definitely the one for you. It’s everything you could want in a Taryn Quinn novel!

Jude moves to Crescent Cove with his surprise 3 year old son, insta single dad. While he is trying to build a business and new life he realizes he needs a nanny desperately. Maddie applies for the job and it’s insta love all around. Cove magic works its thing again and Jude & Maddie are expecting. Overall it’s a happily ever after with most of the original Cove cast thrown in there as cameos. This book almost feels like it’s not written to the standard I’ve seen with their past books although still a good read.

Jude and Maddie’s story was adorable and Jude’s son Owen was a peach. They had a connection from their first meeting, and Jude knew how to get what he wanted. Maddie was young, but their age difference didn’t come into play as much as I’d expected it to. I found myself falling into this story and not wanting to come out. It was another fantastic crescent cove story and the start of a fun spin off.
