Betrayal #3

It Ruins Me

Rate this book
I married you because I was in love with you.

Those words have echoed in my mind ever since he said them, and despite the way my heart races for him every time he steps into the same room, I can't say it back. Not after he hurt me. Not after he betrayed me.

Every time I feel us come close together, my heart pulls away. Every time I fantasize about our future children and growing old together, or just living in the moment during a romantic evening, I picture Cassandra walking by...replacing me.

Axel wants to repair our broken relationship and be what we once were, but my resentment is constantly in the way. He says he has something to tell me, a secret I must take to the grave, a secret that could change my life forever...

He says my father forced his hand, forced him to hurt me, forced him to march in there with Cassandra just so he could break us apart. Then he gives me an ultimatum. Believe him and give this marriage a real chance.

Or don't believe him...and leave.

Scarlet always thought her dad could do no wrong. He was her hero, her best friend, and the one she could trust with anything. She had him on this amazing pedestal until the truth about who he really was hit her. I was glad she figured it out by herself instead of someone else spilling the beans. All those little doubts she had begun to pop up, making her question him more and more.

Axel wants to mend what’s broken between them and return to how things used to be, but her bitterness keeps getting in the way.
He claims he has a secret to share, something that could change everything for her. He insists that her father forced him to hurt her, to bring Cassandra into the picture just to tear them apart. Then he hits her with an ultimatum: trust him and give their marriage a real shot….. Or don't believe him...and leave…… She chose the latter

Lord have mercy, scarlet got on my last nerve for a good portion of this book…… Let’s just say that after Scarlett had repeatedly distanced herself from Axle, she found herself pondering why he was not pursuing her this time. It appears that Axle has finally reached a breaking point; Scarlett's previous rejections may have taken their toll.

Dante and Theo were definitely intriguing supporting characters in this story. I would have liked to see Dante do a bit more groveling, But even if he did grovel more I still despise him for how he messed with Axel and Scarlet’s relationship. He did show some redeeming qualities near the end, but I think that was mainly because he felt the sting of not having his daughter around.

I'm super pumped to learn more about Theo in the next Trilogy

End to this couple's series though I believe the series continues with his brother.
Hero is loyal and faithful, never giving a thought to another woman.
Heroine has fallen for him but is still hung up on the cheating accusation.
All gets resolved.
HEA.
Epilogue.

No estuvo tan mal. 🗣️

Where do I start….if you are a fan of Penelope Sky’s books well this is the series for you to read. You get every emotion going from being happy, angry, loving it and then feeling Noooo.
I absolutely love this book with Axl and Scarlett. But I really don’t like Scarlett’s father Dante. I don’t want to write too much as I’ll end up spilling the beans and you really need to read this and the story gets under your skin and you think you’re in the situation.
Another brilliant read from Penelope Sky…..

A fun mafia-esque series I happened to stumble upon. Quick reads and never dull. Do I think I’ll continue on to the spin off? Not sure, but this was a fun palate cleanser series.

5/5 ⭐
3.5/5 🌶️

Dual POV, first person, not a standalone, final book in a trilogy, you will have to read the previous two books

Well, Axel laid all his cards on the table by telling Scarlett exactly how he feels. Scarlett is so blinded by her loyalty to her father and the memory of Axel breaking her heart that she can't piece together how she really feels. After getting a taste for what she was signing up for by taking over teh family business, Scarlett is having a major change of heart, and also trying to figure out where she'll fit in away from it. Dante's blackmail over Axel is tearing them apart, putting Axel in an impossible situation. The situation with the Colombians has come to a head, and Dante has an even bigger secret unfolding behind the scenes. Everything is just a mess, and there are so many moving parts left to put into place.

First of all, to those who are just over Scarlett and her being blind to how crappy Dante is, I had three words for you: Rose. Colored. Glasses. Yall, we get it cuz we see it objectively, but being as close to her dad as she thinks she is, of course it's going to take her forever to come around that he's pretty much the worst. But enough of that. The relationship between Axel and Scarlett may be in my top 5 for Penelope Sky couples. It seemed like every time one them hurt, I kinda felt my feelings get hurt, too. And Scarlett feeling so lost once she's decided she can't be apart of this world anymore is so relatable. She's just adrift with no real training for anything else. I'm so glad they tapped into what she loves to do and using that as a way to build something for herself. The action scenes were great, the spice was definitely spicing, and I love when a book is so well written that it just runs through my head like a movie. It make it so easy to read and enjoy for me.
Another great series from Penelope Sky! I'm super stoked the series is going to continue with Theo!!!!! Just another Skull King for me to fall madly in love with. Can't wait to see where this series continues with him.

It Ruins Me. My fellow readers. Where can I get a man like Alex? I need a man like Alex in my life. The writer did such an amazing job of Creating and building his character for this story.
Clearly he was the dominant one of the book. He would be the only man that I would not mind telling me what to do in the bedroom, if you know I mean. Wink. wink. I get the tingles just thinking about Alex’s character.
This book was brilliant. The writing was phenomenally good. The plot and the storyline had me glued to my iPad. I was invested into how Alex, Dante and Scarlett would end things. I loved everything about the story.
I was entertained. I found myself invested into hoping that the book would end on a good note, so yes I read the book to the end. And might I say that I was very pleased with the epilogue. I might suggest to the writer to not over use the characters looking down at their hands, at the coffee table or at any table. I thought that showed a lot of weakness for characters who characterized as tough, strong, hard, cold people. Well some people.
I would have like to read some of the story from Theo perspective. It seemed as though, poof he was there. Poof he’s not. He’s almost like a Genie or a ghost or something.
The story was good. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

It’s the hardest review to write for me because I don’t want the series to end!! I have come to really care for the well being of these characters… except Dante!! Who cares what happens to him , well maybe his daughter but not me !

If you love Penelope Sky books you really need to read these. They give you all the feels..

I don’t know what to think about it .
It was a page turner and it was really entertaining but it was also underwhelming.
It’s a mafia romance so I expected some drama and some action but there was close to none in this one .
It was a good time and a fast read so I’m happy.
It might be more dramatic and action packed in the rest of the series but It’ll follow different MC . This couple was cute but insufferable, like most Penelope Sky couple but I still love them.

Rank last of the series

In book 1 we got this assertive strong FMC and this obsessed Alpha MMC and a good hidden romance story. I liked book 1 for the most part.

In book 2 the FMC becomes less sure of herself. The whole book is hidden truths, cat and mouse chase, and internal turmoil and conflict. I didn’t like book 2 as much I feel like the MCs devolved. They both were less sure of them selves and just confused. But there was still an interesting story there.

Book 3 was the end of the devolution. The FMC is essentially a doormat for her dad and then for the MMC. It seemed like she went from one manipulator to another. The whole restaurant plot point is my biggest example. She wanted to start a restaurant. After the MMC convinces her to go for it he basically takes over her whole idea and makes it his own. By the end she isn’t even working in her own restaurant. She would voice an opinion, he would say no or have a better idea, she would go along with what he wanted. I lost interest in the story.

Scarlett finally knows the whole truth!

This is the third and final book in Scarlett and Axel's story. With everything out in the open what will happen to Scarlett and Axel's marriage? What will happen to Scarlett's relationship with her dad?

If I was reading this on my kindle or a paperback just know it would have been thrown across the room many many times. The miscommunication was absolutely disgusting. Also, the blindly trust of Scarlet pissed me off too much.
Over all happy ending for them.

Oh my goodness where do I even begin! This book is so good and makes you feel like you’re are on the edge of your seat at times. Smile because of the love and relationship Axel and Scarlet have for each other. Mad at times because of Dante and his schemes to break them up and ruin their relationship.
Dante succeeded in tearing, Scarlet and Axel’s relationship apart because he warmed Axel what would happen if he didn’t stop seeing her. He would kill his father if he didn’t. To save his father he broke it off with Scarlet. They both were so miserable. But Scarlet said she would never forgive him for the way he did it. Only she has no idea why he did. Dante made him do it. Dante told Axel that he could not say anything to Scarlet because he would have dire consequences. Dante went to Axel’s brother, Theo, the Skull King and asked him to get Scarlet to fall in love with him. He wanted to become partners with Theo and get rid of Axel. Theo went along with it. Little did Dante know that Theo and Axel were brothers. Axel and Theo conspired together to take the business away from Dante. The one thing he loves first before his daughter. They took the company from Dante and Axel told him he had to let Scarlet marry him. Dante had no option but to agree so that he was still in the business. Dante
told Scarlet she was to marry him and they would double cross them and get the business back. He has groomed Scarlet to take over the business if he retired or if he died. Dante put Scarlet in way too many dangerous situations and at one point almost got her raped and killed and lost his life. Axel and his men save them in time?
There is so much more action, love, growing relationships and on the seat of pants to this story. Will Dante be able to go through with his plan to double cross Axel? Does he go through with his plan of killing Axel? Does Scarlet and Axel end up together and make a life together? How does Theo, Axel’s brother play into this whole story?
You have to buy this book to read and see how it makes you feel everything in this story.
I can’t say this enough, Penelope Sky is sick a phenomenal writer and has outdone herself again. I’m so excited for her next book “It Hurts Me.”

It Ruins Me really ruined my sleep lol. I every time I started a chapter I literally had to force myself to put it down. It was everything I wanted for a finale and more. Axel omg he made me so proud. He finally stood up for himself and realized his worth. I was little worried at first that they wouldn’t get back together cause he was serious. He told that woman that she didn’t deserve him and I felt that. Axel has been nothing but supportive of Scarlett and always putting her first that she honestly didn’t deserve him. When he told her the truth I understood her doubt. That’s her father after all she didn’t want to believe that he was capable of something like that, but she didn’t even have the courage to find out either. She only started to realize her father’s flaws when he wouldn’t support her. It always seemed like it came down to her and her needs not anyone else’s. Dante has to be the luckiest man in all of Penelope’s books. This man was getting away with lying, attempting murder plots, breaking up relationships and shooting people in the arms. In the end his biggest punishment was Scarlett not talking to him. In my last review I expressed how both Axel and Theo had so much power and seemed hesitant to use it. I also felt like this in this book as well there wasn’t enough of that usual powerful aura you normally get when reading about the alpha males in the storyline. Like Dante for example he definitely showed who he was and what he was capable of and I wanted more of that from Axel. I understood the concept of what could happen when someone abuses their power which would have been Dante vs when thinking something through and move with a plan and not your feelings which would have been Axel. I loved Axel’s character and personal growth throughout the story but there was just something missing. Overall the ending was nice and set up perfectly for Theo’s storyline, which I cannot wait to read.

We finally have the conclusion for Axel and Scarlett and I have mix feelings🥲

I enjoyed so much the book and how all it end with them, once again Axel remains like the perfect man 😍 and Scarlett, girl, at least half a book you were on my nerves LOL she was so stubborn always remembering what supposedly Axel did and I get it, BUT YOU HAVE A MAN THAT HAS YOU IN AN PEDESTAL AND SAVE YOU AND YOUR FATHER’S LIFE, AT LEAST RECIPROCATE HIS LOVE AS YOU SHOULD 🥲🥲🥲🥲 and I’m not gonna lie, I enjoyed the part where Axel put himself first, as it should 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼, my man deserved to know if his woman was 100% with him.

“I’m married to the woman of my dreams. Of course my dick is going to be hard all the time.”

I mean…LOL I love him ❤️❤️❤️.

And for Dante…I just will say that he redeemed himself enough BUT I’ll never forgive how he hurt them.

Anyways…I loved so much this trilogy, Axel and Scarlett had a good closure and it’s awesome since they’re the perfect match ❤️ I feel like I wanted to see more of their happy life and not only the epilogue, but I’m certain that we will see them in Theo’s book.

This book ruined me! It played with all my emotions. Starting with frustration as Scarlett continued to be her dad’s little puppet and not believing the one man who truly loved her and had her back. I was so happy when Scarlett finally opened her eyes to see what a horrible guy her father was. I was happy to see that Axel’s parents forgave him but I’m mad that it took someone providing the evidence. They should have believed him wholeheartedly as he is their son! I love the bond that Theo and Axel have and that it anguished axel to have to make the call for Theo to walk into a trap! I love Axel and Scarlett together and I am soooo sad this is the end of their story. They are so perfect for each other. I’m glad Dante finally got his head out of his butt and decided to grow up and own up to his mistakes. I’m still wishing we had found out about Scarlett’s mom. I still think there might be something fishy there. I absolutely loved this series and can’t wait to read Theo’s story!! Penelope Sky never disappoints!

Penelope has done it again! Every series I read gets better and better. Axel repeatedly tells Scarlet how much he loves her and she is too blind to see it. Dante is a worthless piece of crap. He professes how much he cares for her, but if that was true he wouldn’t keep trying to destroy her marriage. I’m so glad he finally tells her the truth about her worthless father and that she believes him and let’s go off the past. This is definitely one of my favorites and I highly recommend it to others. Definitely a good series to read.

I felt like book three was rushed and scarlet was a baddie in the beginning. She didn’t take no shit, she gave it! After a while, I think Scarlett’s personality kind of got lost because it focused so much on her and Axel. I think both of their personalities got lost in the sauce after the second book. But that doesn’t change that I love Penelope and the series in itself! Some pages had me like “please just hug each other and make up” and others were like oh my gosh, what’s gonna happen next? I am kind of sad that it skipped right to when Scarlet was already pregnant, I want to know what transpired before like their honeymoon. Axel was like “touch her and you die even though she’s not mine” but Scarlet was like “ I don’t need you to do it for me and you’re not my man, but you are my man” my husband heard a lot of me screaming “ stop being so stubborn and just tell each other you love each other” also I wanted to cuss their parents out so bad.

This was such a great trilogy, one I didn't want to end. If you haven't read Penelope Sky, treat yourself to one of her duets or trilogies.

Penelope Sky did a wonderful job of bringing this story full circle in book 3. She is an author that has the ability to take the "bad actors" in a her novels and breath life into their sorry souls by books end. I have learned that many characters in Ms. Sky's novels often have the opportunity to become the protagonist vs., the antagonist. I love that she takes her time in offering "second chances" to characters that have spent much of the story being the perfect villain and antagonist. Such was the case with Dante, Scarlett's father when he had to man up and confess how he had lied used and manipulated the daughter he loved. Dante finally had his day of reckoning. The results were the MFC's growth and maturity from that point on in this story. She not only became the woman that Axel loved, she became the woman that she was meant to be.

Axel is my new book boyfriend. I loved his character and the combination of his physical and emotional traits. He had it all and knew how to use the entire package. He was a genuine character that possessed a strong sexual prowess as well as being possessive, considerate, loving, tough, smart with a nice touch of humor. The angst Axel and Scarlett experienced in this trilogy was explosive.

Scarlett made so much headway in book 3 that I really applauded her character. She had been frustrating at times in this trilogy, but considering the information she had to work with, was understandable. She and Axel's love story was one of star crossed lovers who were only complete when they were together. The song by Lady Gaga from a Star is born "Always Remember Us this Way" seemed an appropriate song to represent our lovers.

I loved Theo's character and look forward to his story. His character reminds me of Bartholomew's character in his trilogy. He also was a leader of another facet of the Skull Kings. Both had admiral qualities in how they did business. Criminals with their own set of ethics.

Wow what an ending to Axel and Scarlett's story. I loved this book just as much as I loved the first 2 in the series. I will continue to believe that anything Penelope Sky writes is 5 stars. She has yet to change my mind.

I was hooked on Axel the moment I met him in the first book. Watching him grow as an individual was incredible to see. He's still just as cocky but it's a trait you grow to love about him. Watching his relationship with Scarlett grow and change was difficult but ended up beautiful by the end.

"No man will ever love her as much as I do... I loved her the moment I saw her."

Penelope's writing is my favorite. Everything is fast paced so I am never bored. There is enough detail to allow me to watch everything unfold in my mind while reading. There is enough chaos to keep me intrigued and enough spice to make me need to fan myself while reading.

There is a ton of growth in this book. Not only in relationships but as individuals as well. Scarlett and Dante's relationship reminds me my relationship with my dad. Always seeking approval. Always wanting him to be proud of me. I related a lot to Scarlett's feelings and heartache when she didn't get what she was looking for from Dante. Although he was incredibly selfish through out the entirety of this series, I do believe he loves Scarlett. I hate some of the decisions he made and I hate the way he made her feel most of the time but I can't deny his love for her. I think a lot of people with "daddy issues" can relate to Scarlett and Dante's relationship.

I am beyond excited for Theo's book!! I was quick to fall for him too which is no surprise. The shadier they are the more I want them... toxic I know. I am eager to learn more about his relationship with Axel. I want to learn more about the Skeleton Kings. Can we talk about the last chapter though?!? Uhm WHAT. I was on the edge of my seat reading it. Everything was just perfection. I was satisfied with the ending and can't wait to see what the 4th book holds.

I honestly shouldn’t even be surprised at this point in how good Penelope’s books are and this one again just solidified that. I think all the freaking fans in my house get broken from being turned allllll the way the hell up every time one of her books releases. It’s simply not fair!

This one was a nice surprise seeing as how we see a new storyline emerging but yet it’s intertwining with the previous two and connecting it for the future books. Sometimes this last female main character that makes an appearance irritated me a tad but I think that could have been the point over all. No one is perfect and people are hypocrites but it’s written so well!

I think I devoured this story in like 5 hours and that’s only because I had to work and couldn’t finish it faster. I think we were all looking forward to seeing this male main character again because let be honest, he is straight up sexy as fuck. Deal with it. I love this MMC he seems to be deep and I’m interested to see how this evolves right up until the end, and I’m already sooooo ready for the next book!

I try and be vague seeing as how I don’t want to spoil anything. I want it to be just enough for everyone to know that they SHOULD CONTINUE READING THESE BOOKS. Many people don’t continue after the first characters retire—in a way—but following this story is well worth it and gives us all a look into what’s going to unfold later on so it’s important!

I always say READ READ READ you bitches, and I mean it!!
