Captain Charming is a standalone MF romance in the Beautiful Dream series by Melony Ann. Mariah Marie is a bestselling author with anxiety and panic issues. DJ Rens is a captain with the Gainesville P.D. who comes to Mariah’s rescue when she becomes overwhelmed at a book signing. DJ has been attracted to Mariah for months and finally makes a move on her. Their relationship starts off slow and things take a turn when it's revealed that Mariah has a stalker.
I liked this MF romance, particularly the characters. The author’s portrayal of Mariah and her mental health issues as a result of her past were detailed and how those issues played a part in her personality. Mariah is very shy but slowly opens up with DJ’s care and patience. DJ is one of my favorite characters in these standalone novellas. He’s caring, patient, protective, dominant, and I loved his character.
While the story is fast-paced, the relationship development was believable and slow given the knowledge we have of the characters and their pasts. This story is not overly spicy, but there’s emotional intimacy and steam. Overall, I really enjoyed this romantic suspense and while it was slightly predictable, it kept me on the edge of my seat.

This was an interesting start to the Beautiful Dream series. This is not the first one I’ve read in this series, but I finally have time to go back and get caught up.
Disclaimer: this series definitely appears to be fine to read out of order, but I at least wish I’d have read them in order considering I already know some stuff from the other book I read.
Anyway, this one introduces our main four characters: Mariah, DJ, Matt and Lyric. It’s mostly focused on Mariah and her budding relationship with DJ - but since Matt and Lyric are big parts of DJ’s life, they have plenty of roles in this book as well.
Mariah is a romance author that brings in a lot of people and with that plenty of drama - she also has pretty bad anxiety and I feel that in my soul. DJ is the captain of the local police force where Mariah lives. He’s been called to assist her before. Matt and Lyric are a married couple that also happen to be part of the police force in the area. They develop a friendship with Mariah.
Mariah had a stalker - and as police officers, her friends are aware that this has the potential to escalate. Will it? Time will tell.
There’s so many ups and downs in this book. Real emotion. Budding relationships. I’m interested to see how this start leads to where I started this series!

This was a suspense filled, high drama, sizzling masterpiece! This checked so many of my favorite boxes!
As with all my reviews, I'm not going to recount the synopsis or give away any of the plot (though I may make comments about a couple of things). This will be an spoiler free review of the book, and just how I felt while reading it.
One of my favorite Melony Ann books! The fact that I read it all in less than 24 hours around sleep and work tells you how engaging it was.
Captain Charming hooked me from the first pages and I couldn't let go!
So readers beware: Once you start this one, there will be no putting it down!
I am so impressed with Melony Ann. Her writing is so fluid and beautiful and she knows how to tell a story. It took me a while to get to this book. Better late than never. And I’m so glad I did. Captain Charming did not disappoint.
This book is a rollercoaster nail biting hot steamy screaming fustrating mind blowing jaw droping crazy mixed emotions!!! but you will love all of it and no doubt will want more.
Ahhhhhhhhh im still Reeling over these characters I cant stop thinking about them.

Captain Charming is book five of The Beautiful Dream Series. Mariah is an author that suffers from anxiety and DJ is the captain of the local police department. During one of her book signing events the large crowd gets loud and pushy and causes Mariah to have a panic attack. DJ is the officer that responds to the call of the unruly crowd and helps Mariah. They are pretty inseparable from that moment on. DJ gets understandably worried when he learns that Mariah has a stalker and he knows he has to protect her.
This book has suspense, mystery, friendship, spice and is an emotional read! It is a quick read and I read it in one sitting. Even though this book is part of a series you don’t have to read them in order…they are complete standalones!

If you are looking for a sweet romance this one is definitely for you!
Mel does an amazing job at captivating the love between DJ and Mariah, it truly is beautiful!
And as always Mel connects you to each character through emotions so easily you cant help but feel you are a part of the story while still watching it all unfold from the outskirts!
I always love how Mel incorporates stories from real life and fantasy and you can feel it!
Can't wait to see what is in store in her next books!

I absolutely love this series. All the characters you can’t help but fall in love with. This story focuses on Mariah an author, her relationship with DJ, and a crazy admirer. The love the two develop isn’t rushed. The story has the perfect pace and just enough drama, suspense, and romance. Once you start this, you can’t put it down. As always, the author has exceeded my expectations.

I love this scenario for these 4 characters, they are obviously close, and the way they worked together to save the day was amazing. Captain Charming was a quick 112 pages and i finished it in a couple hours.

Ok well its Official Dj And Mariah may be my favourite. After that epilogue omg my Heart literally melted. these two are an amazing couple together. Melony i dont know what you have done to me you have turned me into a happy, sobbing mess. Yes these are happy tears. This Series is as Amazing as the Crane family series. an im addicted to both🥰

This book shies growth from the first page to the last. Mariah is still on a path to fighting and beating her anxiety and doing well until she gets kidnapped. DJ, Matt and Lyric do all they can to find her and get her back. This is another book where the author did an amazing job with the characters and the whole story.

A different couple, another suspense drama and my fav so far in this series especially when our big hunky police captain is in the picture, the lover of short flings his world is about to be turned upside down by author Mariah and when a crazy fan goes into stalker mode then all bets are of.

The storyline to this book is amazing. Matt is truly one of a kind and knows how to show his girl that he loves her and cares about her. I can't wait to read more of this series and see what happens with the characters and their relationships

This novella is part of Melony Ann's The Beautiful Dream Series. All books in this series can and should be read as standalones. I received this book as an ARC read with the rest of Melony Ann's books. This is the second series that I have started of hers, I am definitely liking this one better than the last.
Melony is an excellent writer. This is why I keep reading her books. Her storyline flows and keeps you intrigued. While her content may not always be my taste, she has done an excellent job grammatically and plot wise.

Triggers: cop romance, mental health issues, harassments, FF romance, FMF romance, MF romance and rape.
Mariah is an author trying to escape a crazy family and suffering from panic attacks.

I love how Matt is with her. How he was able to calm her down. The way he makes her feel and reassure her had me falling in love with this book even more. He was patient and showed that he cared. I loved every part of this book.
