The Grimoire: Book 2 in the Earth Stone Trilogy

Rate this book
Two months after escaping the Seelie Court, Audrey’s enemies introduce themselves in a whirlwind of violence and hidden agendas. Houston is rocked by a string of murders – a cleansing by The European Coven against dark witches. Foul and tainted, the witches’ black magic sweeps over the city. The Coven won’t stop until all magic wielders fall back in line – Audrey included.

The ultimatum is absorb the earth stone or die.

Audrey fights for her life and Noah’s, battling the fae, vampires, and humans alike while struggling to resist black magic’s hold. The grimoire – a witch’s book of dark magic spells – calls to her. Weak against the pull of darkness, Audrey doesn’t know how long she can resist the siren song before succumbing completely.

Unexpected Twist.

***This review contains spoilers***
The first book was full of sweet love, I can do better, and "you're soo great Noah, we'll do what you want."
The second book ..... Well, there's nothing sweet about Noah's and Audrey's love story; oh no, we're talking about "forget the flowers and dinner, let's do better things." With a Noah like Audrey's, who needs food and flowers when the dude literally kills for you!!!

Then comes the twist on Audrey's personality! Seeing her turn from the dansel in distress to the "mess with me and you'll find out" was great. Although "nice" Audrey was great, "don't mess with me" Audrey is one billion times better. This new version of her is ready for anything. You can try to push her, but your fall will be as painful as one thousand knives cutting thru your eyes.

Overall, this is a great read. Looking forward to the 3rd book.

Overall a decent story, with more romance and spice than the first book. I enjoyed the first book more than this one. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great read. Plenty of mystery again, and more run-ins with vampires, werewolves and Fae. The story progresses at a nice pace, and I like where most of it went. I will be reading the last in the trilogy when it comes out to see how this story ends. However, I did find some bits a rather frustrating. I understand why things happened like they did. I was just rather disappointed in the main character for not being stronger, and caving quite so easily. Maybe I just thought she was better than that. Maybe it's just me. Either way, I wanted to shout at the FMC for a good chunk of the final third of the book. Would still recommend.

This book definitely had some of the elements I was hoping would develop going into book two of the trilogy.

Positives:
- More spice.
- A lot more action in general as far as the plot went
- Writing for the most part was solid.
- I continued to enjoy the characters and plot progression

Cons:
- I felt at times the pacing was off. There were points in the book that dragged then all of a sudden 30 things happened and I felt we brushed over some important details that could have built up the bigger scenes. I would have also liked a little more backstory or something when introducing some of the new characters.
- The ending was cinematic for sure but I don't know how the FMC and MMC can recover going into the third book. Their redemption seems....improbable...flawed. I am not sure how to describe it, but I do remember thinking to my self.....oh geez someone call the Winchesters.

I still think this is a solid series so far and am looking forward to checking out what the next book will bring (even if I am a little nervous).

Read bonded to me after FW/IF looking for more books in the adult romantasy genres. Dove into this immediately after finishing Bonded To Me. I devoured this book. I really liked book 1 but this one I loved. More romance, more spice, more action. Writing continues to be smart and funny. Another quick easy read which is almost devastating because I wanted MORE I didn't want to stop. It's engaging and had me flipping pages as fast as I could the whole time. I can not wait to see how things turn out at the completion of this trilogy. Highly recommend.

The second book gets better than the first book. The darkness of the tone in the book sets up something new. The book is way too short, as i really want to read the next one. I won't spoil anything, the book is worth reading.

OMG @C.S. Sydney, Author this trilogy has me in a full on chokehold. Please tell me the next book is due soon 🙏

The Grimoire follows on with our MCs Audrey and Noah who are still caught in a will they, won't they, with their omega bond.

Dark magic is circling and trying to take hold, Audrey must also resist the Grimoire which calls to her. Will she be strong enough and even with Noah by her side can she save the humans, resist the darkness and survive the threat from all sides?

An amazing second installment in a fantastic trilogy that will absolutely leave you on a terrifying emotional rollercoaster
