Playing games on and off the ice…

Tangi Kildare has no regrets. Not about falling for sweet, serious, sexy Ethan Grant. Not about giving up college and moving to a different country to support his pro hockey career. And definitely not about breaking up with him—she wasted half her twenties on his commitment phobia.

But sleeping with him three years later? That might be a regret. Especially when she discovers the consequences…
Ethan’s world is turned upside-down when she tells him she’s pregnant, but he’s sure of one he’s going to be part of his baby’s life. The best way to achieve that is to have Tangi close by. Step getting her a job as the Ravens’ physiotherapist, the Kodiaks’ farm team that just happens to play in the same town—what’s the point of being the Kodiaks’ star center if he can’t pull a few strings?

Tangi will work for the farm team in the same building and make plans to co-parent, but that’s all she wants from Ethan. She’s got her college degree, her career…and a close new friendship with one of Ethan’s teammates. The more time Ethan spends with her, the more he knows it’s not just the baby he wants in his life. He’s always regretted letting Tangi go, and now he has to find a way to win her back for good…before it’s too late.

I'm sad Kindle is being dumb and won't upload my notes and highlights :(

This was painful.

Tangi and Ethan broke up on New Year's Eve after being together for 7 years. It's been 3 years since they both have moved on... or so you thought.

The book starts at Ethan's father's funeral, where the two main characters see each other for the first time since the breakup. They chatted for a bit, then left the funeral to 'catch up', they went to their special diner where they shared their first kiss... then things took a turn, Ethan took her back to his place, a full-on making out session and they had sex twice?

This is where my issues start Ethan is a dirty cheater! He cheats on his girlfriend of one year by cheating with his ex, with whom he spent seven years with.

Then he has the audacity to tell Tangi that he's ENGAGED!? ... after just one year with his current girlfriend. Something that she begged him for YEARS, sacrificing her education, and endured 7 long years with him... only to break up and find out he's doing everything she wanted to do with someone else.

Cheating is where I draw the line, I was going to give this a chance even though the lack of surface-level editing drove me insane, I was going to overlook it but I just can't.

little things like forgetting the 'r' on the word "you" or the fact that the author wrote "here" instead of "her"

.“Ethan, I’m so sorry for y͟o͟u͟ loss. Your dad was a great man, and he was like a second dad to me.”

“Y͟o͟u͟ dad and I had a lot of fun together."

“You looking for y͟o͟u͟ mom?” he asked."

"Shit, Leah had you pegged right after all. Here I thought she was being unreasonable by shutting you out. Turns out I should have listened to h͟e͟r͟e͟ and stayed home today, but I respected your dad too much. By the way, go fuck yourself.”
.

Ultimately, this was not for me. Honestly, only read this because I have an ARC of book 2

The MCs were together for seven years and broke up because the H didn't want to get married and have kids
Three years later - the H is with OW (he met her and PROPOSED to her six months after that). He has sex with h, tells her he doesn't want to get back together with her because he's engaged and loves the OW

The h discovers she's pregnant, the H tells the OW but DOESN'T want to break up with her. It's Brandi (the OW) who breaks up with our Hero because she's the only smart one apparently
The h is kind of a doormat, the H is an asshole and they're ridiculous

The first book in the Kodiaks Hockey series and Dump and Chase was an accidental pregnancy, second chance romance for Ethan Grant and Tangi Kildare. They’d met in high school and fell in love with Tangi putting her own dreams on hold to follow Ethan to Canada to support him in his career as a hockey player but after seven years and no sign of any commitment Tangi left him, cutting off all contact until three years later when Ethan returns to their hometown for his father’s funeral.

After a slow start I loved the character of Tangi in Dump and Chase. She was quite independent and determined to do what was best for her long term and not take the easy option but Ethan…... well not so much. Don’t get me wrong, he was likeable, but he also came across as being weak. It was like he was afraid of confrontation, even when he knew he wasn’t happy in his relationship he probably would have stayed with his fiancée if she hadn’t kicked him out. I also didn’t feel any real connection between them and even though I enjoyed this book, a huge part of me was cheering for a Tangi/Brandon union who I felt was a misunderstood character and I didn’t get why his team didn’t like him.

This was a very quick and easy read for me.

I flew through the pages of the book, because I had to know what’s happening between Ethan and Tangi, because the way they started certainly left a potion for a bit of explosive drama waiting to happen and it kept me on the edge of my seat.

I needed to know how these two will come back to each other, given their past and the surprise definitely gave me some ideas, yet not what I was thinking.

If you love second chance romance, with sprinkled on Ow drama & family to booth, this is definitely the book for you!
I loved Tangi’s character - she was the force to drive me through - rooting for her HeA! I loved how she handled it all, and stood strong despite everything.

Can’t wait to read more from the author!

Thank you for the e arc!

This book was not my fave. I absolutely disliked the main dude in this one. He was just an ass the whole time and lied to everyone. He definitely didn’t deserve the girl a the end. As I did really like Tangi, she was sweet but way too nice to Ethan. I rated this one one star as I didn’t like the character and how the story ended. Ethan was very unlikeable so I couldn’t really get into the story. Thanks to Valentine pr for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tangi never intended on this for her life. But here she is, pregnant by the ex she dumped years ago because he wouldn't commit. She can raise this baby by herself, probably should considering Ethan always said he never wanted kids, but for some reason he insists on being present in her life and their soon to come child's. But she'll need to stay strong and remember that Ethan isn't the man for her, her heart can't take another break from him, commitment-phobe that he is.

I love it when a heroine doesn't simper and give into the hero right away, makes him work for his chance at her heart. Tangi is a great character - strong, independent and not at all a doormat for Ethan. In fact, she's the best part of the story. I wish she had been paired with an equally strong guy, alas, she got...Ethan. I never connected with his character, nor do I think he deserves a second chance. His redemption didn't ring true for me, and he's the reason I can't rate this higher. But because Tangi is amazing, I can safely give it 3.5 stars.

I aren't sure that I have ever read any book of Anna Albo before so I consider this book is her frist book that I read. I gave it a try because it is second chance and surprise pregnancy which both are my favorite tropes and even if I decide to give it 4 stars, I still enjoy and want to read more of Kadiaks' crews.

Now the reason I give this book 4 stars is because I want to smack Ethan's head soooo many times while I'm reading through it. Seriously with Ethan's behavior, I have to disagree with a title of the book because yes, he was dumped but nope, he haven't chased Tangi even once. Everything happens in this book is Tangi's decision only. Ethan just acts as childish and selfish as he is but he is a lucky one because Tangi loves him (- -')

You would think by now that if Ethan is that bad why I give this book 4 stars. Well, you see, I like Tangi and Brandon. At some point, I'm curious how Tangi could resist Brandon's charm. He may be a perfectionist especially when it comes to his Hockey but he is so sweet and caring for Tangi. He even lets her set a pace on their relationship! But I also understand why Tangi chooses Ethan. He is her first love and even if he is an airhead when it comes to love, he loves her too... maybe has loved her from the beginning but he is an airhead (facepalm.)

And because Tangi's complicated relationship with both Ethan and Brandon, I find that the story is very intriguing and curious how Ethan will complete with perfect Brandon, LOL. Like I said before, I enjoy reading this book and even if I want to smack Ethan's head, I still like him. He isn't a bad guy here, he's just an airhead one who needs some guidelines from his friends.

Now I can't wait for Brandon's turn to be happy with his woman and I really want to know... with who.

2nd chance baby hockey romance

So Tangy pronounced with a J and Ethan were dating for about 7 years since the age of 17 until 24 when he finally admitted he never wanted kids or marriage and she left him .

Fast forward 3 years later at his dad’s funeral he hooks up with her while still dating and he was engaged then tells her they can’t be together.

Then Tangy gets an opportunity to go work in Vancouver same city as Ethan and does it and he asks if they can be roommate .

So this book had ZERO GROVELLING like seriously tangy’s sister leah had every right not to forgive Ethan the guy barely put effort and time all he did was be her friend and he lied to her a lot and literally Brandon was a better choice in this situation he was more understand and caring honestly I don’t like books where they force the baby’s father just bc he’s the father really didn’t like the effort.

Felt like it was a slow burn which is fine and then they became friends which is also fine and then she’s torn between Ethan and Brandon again also fine then suddenly Ethan is proposing literally no grovelling just some time to think and everyone pushing her with him bc he’s the baby’s dad I didn’t like it . She gave him 7 years he said no and they’re acting like he wasn’t mature at 24 when he was

Truth is had Tangy not gotten pregnant Ethan would have never fought for her and tbh he still didn’t he did the bare minimum and I hate when guys in books get away with that

I did like Tangy’s character but I’m giving it a 3 bc she should have ended up with Ethan he was willing to date her despite being pregnant with someone else’s child and he was understanding.

Tangi Kildare is trying to live her life without any regrets . She will not regret falling in love with a seemingly sweet guy named Ethan Grant . She will not regret giving up her dream college to follow Ethan to a different country while he is a pro-hockey player . She will not regret breaking up with after she wasted most of her twenties on commitment phob Ethan . But now Tangi has a regret .. she regrets that now 3 years post breakup she slept with him one last time and now she is pregnant .

Ethan Grant has had his life figured out for a long time with his goal always being to make it to the NHL . After making it big + finally finding his place with the Kodiak’s as their star center, Ethan couldn’t be happier except for his one regret . Letting Tangi slip through his fingers was the worst mistake of his life . So now, 3 years later after a one night stand together Tangi is telling him she is pregnant . And that co-parenting is all she will ever want from him . Now Ethan is racing the clock to win her back before one of his teammates takes his spot .

This is my first Anna Albo book and it certainly won’t be my last . I loved how strong and determined our fmc Tangi was . She knew what she wanted in life and she was not going to settle for anything less than she deserves, even if that means she can’t have Ethan . Ethan takes a while to grow on you because he has such terrible commitment issues + waits around for other people to make decisions for him . I really loved Brandon + I want him to find all the love and happiness because he is such a great catch .

This is book one in the Kodiak’s Hockey series + it can be read as a complete stand alone .

This book was given to me for honest review by Grey’s Promotions .

Kodiaks Hockey #1

Tangi Kildare and Ethan Grant met in high school. She had been seventeen and Ava, Ethan's sister had invited her over to the house. He asked her on a date and they dated for seven years. She put her dreams on hold, moving to Vancouver to be with him. She thought it was going to lead to marriage and kids but Ethan said he wasn't ever getting married so she broke up with him and hasn't talked to him since. They are from a small town and their families were close so their breaking up was hard.

Three years later his dad passed away and she goes to the funeral only to hook back up with him and ends up pregnant.
Losing her job, Ethan offers to help her out and she gets a job as the Ravens physiotherapist, the farm team of the Kodiaks that Ethan plays on so she moves back to Vancouver.

The more time that Ethan spends with Tangi the more he realizes that it's not just the baby, he also wants Tangi in his life. Things get more complicated when she forms a friendship with one of his teammates who would like for it to become more.

This is a new author for me. I would have liked to read the extra bonus but couldn't without having to sign up for an account on a site I haven't heard about.
I really enjoyed this story and how Tangi didn't just roll over but stood her ground. I liked Brandon and hope he gets a story, maybe with Jill.

Ethan and Tangi dated for seven years after meeting in high school. She is best friends with his sister Ava and essentially a member of his family. When his father dies, they see each other again for the first time in three years. After one night together their lives are changed forever.

This book started slow, she is independent and knows what she wants to do with her life. She knows that she wants to work for a professional sports team, wants to get married, and have kids. The one man that she loved that she thought wanted the same thing, didn't so she was figuring out her life after that. It feels as though Ethan wasn't mature and didn't expect things to turn out the way that they did, even when his fiance leaves him. I thought the book was good, I liked how the relationship grew realistically. But I will admit that I was rooting for her and Brandon to have a relationship, however I am hoping that the next book is about him and Jill. That would be a fun book.

I understand why some people hated this book. The MMC was a jerk in his choices and behavior. The cheating is a deal breaker for some. But what I loved about this book was that everyone behaved like real people. The scenario was completely realistic and believable. No serious miscommunication trope. No evil villain manipulations. Just an honest mismatch in expectations by MMC &FMC, some callous-but realistic-behavior by a self-centered, immature guy. A woman who is rightfully upset and walks away. A history that allows for some backsliding & an unexpected pregnancy, etc. I really liked Tangi. I liked her friends and family. Her support system was great. I was upset with the C MMC’s choices and behavior but he wasn’t a bad guy—just stupid. However, I felt the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. The way they fell into bed at the end seemed very random. MMC’s proposal, after all their history around that issue, was awful! Then a we’re read baby is born and be a wedding is planned. Not very satisfying.

Ethan and Tangi dated for seven years but Tangi broke it off after finding out that Ethan didn’t want to get married or have children, while Tangi did. So, she moved back home to Minnesota, went to college and is now working as a physiotherapist part time. Ethan is a hockey player in Vancouver with the Kodiak’s.

The two of them meet again at Ethan’s dad’s funeral, go out to dinner and talked before going back to Ethan’s apartment where they sleep together. In the back of Tangi’s head, she thought they might get back together but he tells her that he’s engaged. Tangi’s heartbroken and refuses to see Ethan again, but she finds out she’s pregnant with his baby. Along with her just being laid off at the clinic she was working at. Anyway, she tells Ethan about being laid off and the pregnancy and he tells her there’s a job as a physiotherapist with the Kodiak’s farm team, the Ravens and he offered her to stay at his condo, while he lives with his fiancé in their house. Tangi applies for the job and she gets it. She moves to Vancouver and begins her new job and meets Brandon, one of Kodiak’s players who was bumped down to the Ravens while he recovers from his ACL tear.

Ethan tells his fiancé, Brandi, about Tangi and she calls off their engagement and that she was going to keep the house they bought so know he’s living with Tangi in his condo.

I couldn’t read this fast enough! I thought it was an easy and quick read. I was immediately sucked into their relationship! The two of them are trying to navigate their newfound relationship that is bumpy and emotional. The secondary characters were engaging and supportive of Ethan and Tangi’s relationship. This is a slow burn romance, so there’s very little spice, but what spice there is, is amazing!

I enjoyed this book so much and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Tangi has loved Ethan since she was a teenager but after supporting him and his hockey career for years until she realized that their dreams for the future were very different. It will be three yeas before they see each other again and one steamy night will entwine their lives for a second time.

Ethan knows that he didn’t handle things the best way with Tangi when it came to their relationship and the night they spend together. When she finds herself carrying his child and unemployed, he offers her a job with the hockey organization where he plays so that he can be there for her and the baby but he soon realizes that he wants much more than to co-parent with her.

The relationship that Tangi and Ethan share is not without its difficulties as even though they have both moved forward with their lives they realize that the feelings between them may be buried but they have and always will be there.

This is a second chance romance for once high school sweethearts Ethan and Tangi. For seven years Tangi dated Ethan before she called it off as Ethan couldn't/wouldn't commit to her and she wanted marriage and children. 3 years on and they meet again at Ethan's dads funeral.

One steamy night together is all it takes for Tangi to accidentally get pregnant. Now, Ethan is determined to be in his childs life so he arranges for Tangi to become his hockey teams physiotherapist.

Tangi and Ethan's journey is one of each digging deep into their hearts to find what they truely want. Both have grown and changed in the years they were apart, and both had moved on. But had they really moved on? Or had they just buried their feelings? Working through the mistakes of the past and building a future is never a smooth journey and Ethan in particular needs to man up, before it's too late. An easy read to curl up in bed/on the sofa with.

Tangi put her life on hold to support her boyfriend, Ethan, but 7 years without a commitment from him, she left.
A hookup 3 years later leaves her pregnant and Ethan is determined to be involved with the baby. He arranges a job for her with the Kodiak farm team to bring her near him and arranges a place for her to stay. It’s all VERY complicated with relationships evolving, starting and ending with Ethan realising he’ll have to act fast before he loses Tangi, his only real love.
Fast paced, emotional and a roller coaster journey for two people meant to be together. Some spice, drama, romance, regrets, heartache, and growth.
Some great characters, including interesting side characters I truly hope we get to see more of.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Ethan and Tangi’s journey.
These two met in high school, and Tangi gave up on her dreams to move across country with Ethan for his hockey career, and they broke up after 7-years, as he did not want marriage or commitments. Tangi is now a successful physiotherapist, and when she goes to Ethan’s dad’s funeral, they hook up, which has consequences. Ethan is a highly successful NHL player, and he pulls some strings to get Tangi as job with the team. But has Ethan missed his chance with Tangi, as she has a friendships with another teammate?
This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, regrets, consequences, 2nd chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy small town romance.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

What a great way to begin a series! Ethan and Tangi's story is a great second-chance romance with an accidental pregnancy. At the beginning of the book I did not know how I felt about the story but as it developed I appreciated that Tangi stood her ground and did not give into Ethan. Once the story pulled me in I did not want to put it down. Ethan and Tangi found a way to navigate their new relationship at times it was emotional but they figured it out. The slow burn of the book was perfect and fitting for the story. I loved the supporting characters, they were great additions, especially Brandon I really hope he gets a story sooner rather than later. Great story!

Dump and Chase is book 1 in a new series Kodiaks Hockey from Anna Albo, and it was quite enjoyable. It's a quick and easy read, which I liked, had enjoyable characters, and a solid plot. Tangi and Ethan met in high school, and they dated for quite a while. Tangi followed Ethan to Canada for his hockey career, putting her own dreams on hold. After learning that he never wanted to get married or have kids, Tangi broke up with him and hasn't looked back or spoke to him since. A few years later, Ethan's father passes away and Tangi attends the funeral. They end up hooking up and both end up with a lot more than they bargained for. I'll leave it at that, so I don't spoil anything, but this was definitely a good story.

This is Book 1 in the Kodiaks Hockey Series and my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and the characters. It is a second chance romance between former lovers, Tangi and Ethan. These likeable souls and the unique plot make for an interesting read. Once they reconnect, their sizzling chemistry and strong connection are undeniable as they navigate the bumpy road to their forever after. It is an emotional journey with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters. Seriously entertaining.

This second-chance romance had all the makings of a great love story but aspects of the plot left me feeling that the two MCs weren’t really right for each other. I want to make sure to remain spoiler free so I am not going into it too much detail, but Ethan left a lot to be desired and I never felt he reached that point of redemption I really wanted to see. Tangi was absolute fire and despite everything being thrown her way, along with some questionable decisions, she stayed strong and I loved her character. The side characters have some great potential and I can’t wait to see what is coming for the rest of the series…Brandon?!?!

They broke up at a party on New Years after 7 years together! The next time Tangi saw Ethan was at his father’s funeral! He’s gone on to become a highly successful NHL player and she’s finished her degree and become a highly sought physiotherapist!
The chemistry is still off the charts and they act on it! Then she finds out that Ethan is engaged to be married, something he had claimed for years to never want, hence their breakup!
How could he do this to her? But Fate intervenes, and ensures they will remain in each others’ lives!
Quite the roller coaster ride! Hot hockey players, strong women, and plenty of steam!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ For this book in the Kodiaks Hockey Series!

A good second chance read

A good second chance story, I loved the characters who were easy to like and get to know. Tangi and Ethan had split a few years ago and hooked up at his dad's funeral, Tango thought they were getting back together and Ethan was having goodbye sex telling best after he was engaged.
Without spoiling the story they form a friendship and both as t more her bucket over and over. His teammate forms a friendship with Tangi which makes Ethan jealous but ultimately we see a HE A
The breakup came across as immature and there was many errors of he when it should be she and boss versa so I'm need of editing but overall a good book.

I really liked the premise of this book and the tropes included, however I did struggle to gel with both the hero and heroine. I completely understood Tangi’s wariness around trusting Ethan again, however I felt it was slightly rushed toward the end. I have to say that it took me almost three quarters of the book to even begin to warm up to Ethan, the bloke just seemed to put his foot in it constantly.

Aside from this, it was an enjoyable, fast paced read and I adored Brandon’s character, he was amazing.

Given that the central theme of this book was cheating, I shouldn't have liked it at all. Probably shouldn't have even started reading it, but the blurb caught my attention. The story ended up being pretty good, despite the mmc being a completely clueless idiot. He was actually surprised when his fiancee kicked his butt to the curb when she found out he cheated on her with his ex and got her pregnant. Shocking, right? Not a bad read if you can overlook the whole cheating thing, hard to do, I know.

While not a fan of the cheating aspect, I absolutely love how strong willed the FMC is in the book. She doesn't go running back immediately when she finds out she's pregnant, she stands up for herself, expresses her feelings, shares what she's thinking even though it's brutal and she makes sure her HEA is what she wants and needs. She makes the MMC work hard to earn her trust and to prove that he is not going to break her heart again.

I love Anna's writing and get so sucked in to the books that I can't put them down!

Great start to a new series. Hockey, romance and lot of drama..a perfect combination. Professional hockey play Ethan and physical therapist Tangi go way back. Ethan and Tangi were everything to each other…until they weren’t. She was extremely supportive of him and wasn’t getting what she truly needed from him so she left. Years later they reconnect…in more ways than one. Now they are back living in the same town and life just got really complicated. This was a great back and forth story that I really enjoyed. Tangi and Ethan truly belonged together, they just needed to get past the drama and hurt from the past. I really enjoyed this fast paced story and the fun characters in it. I’m excited about this series and can’t wait to get to know the rest of the characters better.
