Tainted Love #2

Fractured Vows

Rate this book
I grew up hating a man I barely knew.
The man responsible for tearing our family apart.
But when my life is threatened, I’m forced to become his wife.
And neither of us are happy about it.
Doc is infuriating, pig headed, and every bit the asshole I was always told he was.
And yet there’s something about the grumpy tattooed giant that draws me in.
His possessive need to protect me while simultaneously punishing me for our situation is addictive.
And little by little, the hate I feel toward him, turns into something else entirely.
But when my life hangs in the balance, can he save me?
Or was all of this for nothing?

Fractured Vows is a dark age gap romance which is linked to the Frost Industries Series but does not require you to have read that series. This book contains dark themes which readers may find distressing. Reader’s discretion should be applied.

Working for Frost Industries and the St. James family affords William “Doc” Simpson allies and safety not available to most. When his niece, Isla, becomes a target, her father calls upon his former best friend to protect her. Despite the impossible situation, Doc is in no position to deny the request.

Yeah, I'm totally kicking myself for not reading Montana Fyre until this book because I have. been. missing. out. In a BIG way! Fractured Vows flawlessly combines so many favorite tropes with all the suspense and steam to keep you flipping pages long after you should have been sleeping. Or working. Or otherwise adulting.

This book was freaking incredible, This has knocked "Fall of Snow" Out of first place for me.

Fractured Vows is an absolute masterpiece that had me hooked from the very first page. The combination of Enemies to Lovers, Age Gap, and Arranged Marriage tropes created a magnetic and thrilling narrative that left me breathless. I love Doc, like really love him. This has made me want to reread the whole Frost Industries again just to keep that high.

The chemistry between Isla and Doc was nothing short of electric, and the tension Montana built throughout the story was palpable. The progression from animosity to love was expertly crafted, and the way the age gap and arranged marriage elements were woven into the plot added layers of complexity that kept me on the edge of my seat. Can we also add in the whole " Dad's ex best friend and also Dead aunts widow" SIDE EYE BOMBTASTIC SIDE EYE

This book is filthy, pure filth and honestly, I found out things about myself whilst reading that I am still unsure if I should be ashamed of, proud of or even both. This is absolutely one I will not be telling my dear mum about because even though I am in my 30's I think she may put me up for adoption after that Sunday lunch.

The plot itself is nothing short of insane, filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Montana's writing style is engaging and immersive, pulling readers into a world where love, desire, and betrayal collide in the most captivating way. Her writing feels comfortable to me, Kind of like that feeling when you get home after a long bad day, it's raining outside and you are drenched and cold and you go home to a warm house. That is comforting (just you know the added threat of mafia activity)

Even though this is a standalone, I highly recommend reading the Frost Industries and Severed Ties first, it will amplify your experience and will make you love the appearance of other characters. How is it even possible to miss characters so much? SO MUCH

Five stars don't seem enough.

Since it's raining, I've been reading non-stop muaha!! And next was Doc and Isla book!! We got a taste of Doc in previous books, and now it's his turn. He is asked a favor by his ex brother in law to save his daughter, and when he meets Isla, she's angry and hates him due to family. He "killed" her aunt, but truly he didn't the drugs did he was just blamed for it. Now her dad did something stupid, and she has to be married off to save herself. And the relationship is rocky from the start. She's polite, but she hates him. She hates the rules he placed.

Things don't change until she breaks a rule that puts her in danger. The sexual tension finally breaks, and they make the fake relationship into a real one. But they still have dangers ahead her father and bestie are missing, and she runs away to save them, and that's all I'll say, haha.

No ow/tiny om, no cheating, secondary character, drama, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhore

✨ARC Review✨

Ok this book has just become my most favourite that this author has written👏🏼 Yes I am one of the many who wanted Doc’s story since he first appeared in ‘When it Raynes’ and let me tell you it did not disappoint👀

Doc’s book is an arranged marriage and age gap - and yes those are two of my most favourite tropes. Long story short Doc agrees to marry his deceased ex-wife’s niece Isla (there is no blood relation between Doc and Isla just to clarify) in order to protect her from the spade family. Isla’s father murdered a Spade brother after the death of his sister and thus he landed poor Isla in this predicament, now it turned out for the best but at the time they didn’t know that👀

I absolutely loved seeing how such a burley, tough guys such as Doc fell completely head over heels for “his wife”😮‍💨 Also for a man who didn’t want a wife again, he absolutely dropped the term “my wife” any chance he could get🤌🏻

This book has a great plot and spicy moments that will ensure you’ll want to keep turning that page. To be completely honest I couldn’t put this book down😅

I look forward to reading more in this world in the near future 👏🏼

Tropes:
- Arranged Marriage
- Age Gap
- Mafia Romance

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

Fractured Vows is Doc and Isla's story! Doc enters into an arranged marriage at the request of his ex brother-in-law to protect his daughter. Isla's dad has made a deadly mistake and Isla is a target. Doc has been vilified but he really isn't the villian.

Isla is unhappy about the union but the more time they spend together, the more each of them fall for each other and see that their jagged pieces fit together perfectly. Their fake marriage turns very real and when danger comes for Isla, Doc will have to save his girl.

Fractured Vows was dark and gritty and definitely has some triggers so be aware. I loved the age gap between Doc and Isla and the steam in here was top notch hot! Complete with a cute ending, I really enjoyed this.

“You’re fucking mine, Isla. There’s nothing on the fucking planet that could keep you from me because I will always find you, and I will always drag you back to me.”

This book was so much more than I ever knew I needed. If I could give it more than 5⭐️ I would. You just never know which direction an arranged marriage with an age gap is going to go, then to throw in the Mafia connection with the freaking fabulous Saint James family ….. and you have just created a masterpiece.

I have loved very novel by Montana but this one has gone to the next level. These characters that she has created are just perfection and the connection between Doc and Isla is on point.

Let me assure you there is plenty of action here in these words on the page, from the highest of high to the lowest of low emotions, the depth of love and commitment, the single minded retribution required to do justice to this novel.

The spice level here is perfection, intense and steamy, with some serious dirty talk that pushes all the right buttons … and do not even get me started on the praise .. oooh all that holy it was flawless.

Absolutely brilliant … captivated me right from the start … I could not put this down … I consumed this novel so fast and I freaking loved it.

Two things we get in this book docs real name and big daddy Doc and his filthy mouth 😍

Isla is 20 a senior in college and kinda just floating through life a little bit lost ever since her aunt died when she was 8/9 and her parents had checked out and stopped being involved or showing love to her. Isla is a typical young adult and enjoys partying with her bff Bree. She and Bree are in a club dancing the night away when Bryant Hayes, who is part of the underworld in Boston comes and dances with Isla and essentially tries to convince her to come home with him. She turns him down and continues dancing with her friend. A little while later she loses sight of Bree and goes on the hunt where she finds her unconscious on the ground outside the club about to be napped. Isla steps in and says nope this isn't happening and the Hayes bros come storming out to save both girls. A little while later her dad is called and told to come to the club. Dad informs Isla she needs to pack because she's moving in with her auntie and uncle in bel air.. lol jk but she is moving to Chicago with Doc. And Isla is confused and asks why? Don't we hate him?? And dad then says well.. you're not just moving you're going to marry him.

Doc is 40 and his self-hatred is high. He has carried the guilt of the death of his late wife for the last 13 years. Edward, Islas dad calls him and says get to Boston asap. Edward clues Doc in his half-cocked plan about marriage and Doc says mmm count me out. But unfortunately for everyone Slade makes a home visit coming to take Isla, eye for an eye, and Doc blurts out that they're getting married so she'll be under the protection of the Saint James family.

This is where the story pretty much takes off. So I won't give anymore from this moment on.

My thoughts:
This book is by far my absolute favorite book out of all the Saint James books and Tommy's book. The growth made between each MC is phenomenal. And I absolutely loved getting a more in depth of Doc. This book is an interconnected standalone book and you aren't required to read anything else BUT I highly recommend it as you get little glimpses into who Doc is. I will say there are heavy topics in this book so please read the content warning as this is not a fade to black book.

I received this as an ARC, and my thoughts and feelings are my own!

Oh my everything, that is holy!! I can not get enough of this book!
I have been wanting this book since Doc showed his face in the Frost series.
I always wondered what kind of women Doc would go for, and boy did Isla raise to the occasion and smash through everything.

I am not normally one for an age gap romance, but I couldn't put this book down. I didn't feel like the gap made any difference at all, which is fantastic!
I loved seeing the shofter side of Doc while still being his hard ass self!
And I really enjoyed Isla and how much she gave as good as she got!

There were a couple of things that I wanted to see, which was Doc talking to Isla about what happened in his past and how he felt when everything happened.

Doc is a possessive, hot man that in my books he can do no wrong!
Isla is such a great match for Doc, and I am glad this ended how it did.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the author for allowing me this opportunity to read this book before it releases!

When I said plans for the day were cancelled, I wasn’t kidding. The moment I read the dedication I was hooked. Reading the Frost Industries books, you get glimpses of Doc and you can already get a taste that he’s protective and caring in his own way. Doc has me in his chokehold and I don’t want him to let me go. Isla is your typical 20 year old, with a strict dad, the need to escape her reality and a feisty mouth. These two are explosive on the pages and don’t disappoint. Their love is uncommon, unconditional and a true testament to who they are. When I say you don’t want to miss it, I mean, you do not want to miss this!! This book releases on February 2nd on Amazon and will be available on Kindle Unlimited. You can preorder now! Ruuunnn to Amazon and secure this book. You’ll be busy diving in and falling in love with these characters. Montana, thank you for another AMAZING hit!!!

I have almost never geeked out as much as I did when I saw I was chosen as an ARC reader for Fractured Vows.

When I binged her Frost Industries series this summer I was captivated and never wanted it to end. There was a side character however that I was heavily intrigued by.

Doc

When I saw a sign-up for an ARC of his book I about injured myself running to sign up for it. Doc’s book did not disappoint and brought out everything in him I knew was hidden beneath the surface. A giant of a man who physically cares for injured Mafia members but no bedside manner.

He comes to terms with his own softness with Isla. I loved and hated her because she is the center of Doc’s world and I’m delusional enough to claim him as another book boyfriend. But they were made for each other, 20-year age-gap and all.

Their story was just as engrossing as the Frost Industries’ siblings and I couldn’t recommend it more. What starts as convenience rapidly turns into lust and love. When they both nearly lose each other it’s gut-wrenching.

I’m still so so geeked out and grateful I got to read an ARC of Doc’s book. I will hype this author and these books until I can’t any more!

Would Recommend: Hell yeah! 😍

My Review:

Wow, I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed the incredible journey of two amazing souls coming together to create an unbreakable bond! I mean, I always thought Storm was the best character out of all the Montana’s heroes, but Doc completely stole my heart and Isla was the perfect partner for him. Witnessing how they overcame their own fears and insecurities to trust in each other and fall madly in love was absolutely breathtaking. 💞

And let's not forget about the Saint-James family - seeing them again was like a blast from the past and brought back so many wonderful memories. It was definitely one of the most exciting book I've read in a while! 😈

Ooohhh I loved every moment in this age gap mafia romance. I love the dynamic between Isla and Doc. There is so weird family dynamics but I'll let you explore that for yourself.

Just know these two are explosive together and you will thoroughly love the dominating and overprotectiveness that he has for Isla.

Isla can't believe she's going to marry the man who was married to her aunt....yes there is an age gap between them but she's attracted to Doc when she's not sure why she can't resist him.

Doc will do anything for her and this need for her affection/passion is something he's never felt before but he can't live without her. This is a wild and dangerous ride but you will devour every moment and I love this mafia world. Can't wait to see what comes next. Happy Reading!!

Well usually I don’t read books that have more than 18 years age gap between the MCs but I made an exception for this one.

I mentally readied myself to read something that out of my comfort zone, idk why but I can just switch my brain to accepting this book 😂.

I don’t usually read books where the H was involved with the h’s family member in the past and in this one Doc was married to Isla’s deceased aunt. It was kinda weird knowing Doc knew Isla even before she was born. But as I said, I block that info to the point where it didn’t bother me.

Doc admitted to the readers that he didn’t really love his ex wife and married her just because it was kinda expected. They were highschool sweetheart and she was his best friend’s sister.

Then because he was pretty much absent throughout their marriage and when she wanted kids he wasn’t really into the idea of having one or even two. She started to get into drugs and slept around then got involved with the wrong people. In the end she was murdered, mutilated by one of her lovers.

Everyone blamed Doc for it. I was annoyed at that, yes he wasn’t really there for her but couldn’t they get divorce? It wasn’t fully his fault when the wife started to cheat or did drugs.

Anyway fast forward to a decade later Isla was in danger. The murderer of her aunt’s started to sniff around her and was interested in her. Her dad arranged a marriage between her and Doc because Doc was working for the a mob family in Chicago and under their protection so he thought she would be safe with Doc.

Obviously they were not happy with it and didn’t want to get married. But circumstances pushed them to marry.

At first they were avoiding each other but pretty much from the very beginning Doc was possessive and protective towards Isla, he didn’t know what but it was cute to see him carrying Isla into his bed whenever she slept on the couch.

Day by day they started to get closer until one day Doc’s control snapped and they had sex. He became more possessive towards her and when she admitted she was on birth control pills, he stumbled upon her pills and switched it to fake pills.

I don’t condone that in real life but since this is a book, I’m into it 100% just because I like this kind of derange thing in books 🙃.

She didn’t get pregnant right away and when she was on her period he was disappointed and they had period sex (yuck). Isla wasn’t into it but seeing how Doc looked so disappointed she relented.

Fast forward to the part where the bad guy (i don’t remember his name) came to Chicago and started to bother Isla. She found out both her dad and her best friend was missing and the bad guy had them.

Her chicago mob friends came to her and convinced her to be a bait for them to safe both her dad and the friend. She agreed and they told her not to say anything to Doc.

When Doc found out she was missing he went ballistic. Soon he went to Boston to safe her.

Plan A didn’t go well and Isla was kidnapped by the bad guy. Long story short Doc tried to safe her but he was captured. Isla was about to be r&ped but cavalry came to the rescue and they were saved.

The epilogue was nice, they had 2 kids and set around 3/4 years later I believe. I would love to see a snippet of the pregnancy journey. It would be great to see how possessive and overbearing Doc could be when Isla was pregnant but it’s okay, I’m happy they have their small family.

Overall a nice book to pass time. I’m currently in the mood for possessive overbearing alpha male so this is perfect for me.

Before I even started “Fractured Vows,” I knew I would love it. All the teasers leading up convinced me this was the book for me: Age Gap, Mafia, Marriage of Convenience, Enemies to Lovers, Kidnapping.

I’ve read and love those types of books and always look for more! This is it, right here. Montana Frye wrote it.

So, in the story, Doc said, “Basically, I married my d3ad wife’s niece so she didn’t get taken by the brother of the man her father, my ex-best friend, unalived after my wife d¡3d.” Did you get that? Because it’s pretty much the premise.

Isla is 20 years younger than Doc and is f0rced into a marriage, but they more than adjust to each other over time. I loved all the drama, action, and the romantic build-up between the two. The spicy scenes Montana Frye wrote were on point. “Fractured Vows” was the type of story that had my attention entirely, and I didn’t realize the story had ended––or maybe I didn’t want it to end at all.

“I love you, Doc. Endlessly.”
“I love you too, Isla. With every beat of the heart I thought was long dead.”

I received an ARC of this book from Next Steps PR.
I’m pretty picky about mafia and age gap
books, but this one was pretty delicious. Isla is married off to Doc, her dad’s ex best friend and the man that was married to her aunt (no blood relation, calm down). The development of their relationship was everything you could want from the arranged marriage trope, and his near toxic possessive obsession made Doc an especially hot MMC.
Book 2 of Tainted Love series, and related to the Frost Industries series, but can be read as a standalone if you’re like me and already have a never ending TBR!

I'm always a sucker for a good age gap romance and this author delivers exciting and steamy tales featuring the and other fun tropes. I loved the bit of enemies to lovers, though Doc always had a bit of love at first lust working against him. Isla is his spitfire that totally embodies that nickname. I still felt empathy for her circumstances and feelings of being left behind by her loved ones. Those vulnerabilities made her truly likable for me. Doc had a filthy mouth I couldn't get enough of and for my fellow readers that love a morally grey man willing to tamper with some birth control...doc is your guy! I also enjoyed the elements of danger and appearance of familiar faces from the mafia series. All together, I sped through this book and appreciated the break it gave me.

Arc review for Fractured Vows by Montana Fyre I was so lucky to receive an arc copy of this book on kindle. I love them book I literally stay up all night reading it I could put it down once I stared read. It was excellent and fast paced story. It’s a marriage of convenience age gap romance. It tell the story of Isla and Doc. Isla lives in Boston having fun and partying till her father past catch up with her and put her life in danger. She is forced to Marry her father ex best friend to keep he safe. They have a complicated history but he agrees to keep Isla safe so they married and she moves to Chicago to be with him. He is a grump alpha male but along the way the more time he spends with her the more he come to care for her. Will he able to turn this forced marriage into something real and will she comes to care for him despite there past trauma. This is my first book I read by this author and I thought it was really interesting. I can’t wait to see what next in this series I read enjoy reading it. Definitely a five star read. Thank you to Montana Fyre for letting read your new book. This books comes out on February 2 so I suggest you buy it you won’t be disappointed it was fun read.

Now in previous books, doc did not catch my interest at all. but DAMN this book has changed my opinion on this man and everything i presumed about him given the hints we've had in previous books in this universe. usually i don't change my mind on a character this easily, but montana you managed to do just that. i absolutely found the start of the book to be amusing with the pure denial on both sides, and even more when doc went 'F-it'. there's a lot of fun turns in this book, though some of them even i didnt predict while reading them. also i love the hayes brothers- are they getting their own book(s)? rh boys maybe? i can dream. Isla was a rather interesting character too, i do wish we could've seen her be a bit more of a spitfire though as doc loves to call her. over all though i loved this book a lot more than i thought i would, i could not put it down once i started and devored it in a single 24 hours!

I’ve been dying for Doc’s story, and Montana Fyre doesn’t disappoint!

I will admit, I had a high standard set in my head for whoever was lucky enough to be Doc’s love. When this story begins, I wasn’t very happy with Isla because she was being so mean and rude to Doc, and of course I feel super protective of him!

But Isla redeems herself pretty fast when we get to the root of why she’s acting as she is, rather than just assuming it’s because she doesn’t like the situation.

Doc and Isla’s ride is wild. It’ll make you hurt, frustrated, sad, angry… and the most important… hot as hell 🥵.

We get the great tropes of: Marriage of Convenience, age gap, virgin FMC, mafia, ex uncle, and one bed.

The spice in this is OUTRAGEOUS and so delicious. Doc is a take no bull kinda man and that’s translates into the bedroom as well.

Doc and Isla’s happy ending is hard fought for but I absolutely loved their story.

I knew from the list of TW’s and the dedication
that I would enjoy this book- and I’m happy to
say I was right!
This is a dark age gap romance with a morally grey MMC who falls hard and fast for the sassy FMC (or “spitfire” as Doc likes to call her),
after being forced into a marriage for her safety.

Fractured Vows can be read as a stand-alone, and does have a HEA!

This books was well written and I look forward to reading more books from Monaghan’s soon!

Even if you haven’t read any of the Frost Industries books it’s not a problem, but you will be running to read it once your done here (Go on add it to your TBR - You know you want to).

Fractured Vows had me in a chokehold. I literally cried actual tears reading this story. It’s a mafia adjacent story and it’s brilliant. I absolutely devour the dual POV and the off-limits forbidden nature of how the characters know each other has me absolutely salivating!

Montana Fyre books are always an immediate yes click for me and Fractured Vows is no exception! Doc & Isla are next level and the connection between them is riveting. Be prepared to experience all the emotions! And the spice 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ intense, steamy and I LOVE the dirty talk, but the PRASIE! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I read this so fast and absolutely LOVED it!!

It’s official Montana excels at the mafia arranged marriage age gap with a pinch of enemies to lovers!

Doc is the sometimes grumpy extremely protective go to medic on the payroll for the St James family and he has watched them all meet their match and fall in love…
Isla and Doc’s story has many emotions and bumps in the road but this was well written and I really enjoyed it.

4/5 stars ⭐️

Okay, wow, I have so much to unpack with what I’ve just read. This has to be one of the most unhinged books I’ve read in a while, and i’m not even entirely sure where to begin, but I had a bloody fantastic time reading this, I know that much!

I would first like to start by saying that Doc is 6’7! Okay, moving on, Doc and Isla’s story is quite dark and a red flag galore— I’m pretty sure I said, “what the fuck” and “what the actual fuck is going on here” about 50 times to myself while reading this.

Twenty-year-old party girl, Isla, finds herself in trouble on a night out, after someone tries to kidnap her. After her overprotective dad finds out about this, he calls in the only man who he knows that can protect his daughter, Doc. His best friend and brother-in-law, but after the murder of his sister, Clarissa, who was also Doc’s wife, they’re no longer friends, as Edward blames Doc for her murder.

The only way to protect Isla is for her to marry Doc, as she would be under his protection. Neither Doc nor Isla want for the marriage to happen, but Isla’s life is on the line, as the men who tried to kidnap her are out for revenge (because Edward murdered one of their men, so now, they’re after his only daughter) — honestly, it’s a lot to get your head around, but yeah!

So, Doc and Isla are to be married, literally the next day— this all happens within like 12 to 24 hours and find themselves in a marriage of convenience, one of my favourite tropes— again, a lot to process, but it’s pretty good so far.

Now, this is where things start to get unhinged, Doc is a morally grey doctor, in his forties, and adamant about not having a wife again, or having children, yet, has himself a wife. Again. Interesting conundrum, if you ask me 😭

The last time Doc and Isla saw each other, Isla wasn’t even 10 years old, but there is an attraction between them, fast forward to when this takes place… he’s technically her uncle, but isn’t apart of the family anymore, and his wife is no longer alive.

Things between Doc and Isla start to progress— now listen, I love me an obsessed man, but Doc was something else entirely lmao. Like I’m talking, serious dub-con, he switches out her birth control, oh, a dash of somnophilia, and a whole bag more of red flags and kinks, too!

Was it fucked up? Yes.

Did I have a great time reading it? Also, yes.

Did I also question the sanity of my own mind? Ab-so-fuckinglutely, yes!

What can I say, I’m turning a blind eye to the flags, and choosing enjoyment (of reading!) the plot was good, I would have liked to get to know about the characters a bit more, it felt abit surface level to me. I also didn’t realise that this was a part of a series and is the second book, but it can be read as a standalone.

I’ll be checking out the first book and the others, as I enjoyed this rollercoaster of a story!

Good storyline, not great characters

It would have been a four star but the FMC was just too much for me to enjoy the first 40% of the story. I kept exiting out and deciding not to read it before saying “give it a chance”
Ex: (Spoilers)
She doesn’t comprehend how serious the situation is when she sees her best friend almost being kidnapped, then takes it seriously when men with guns come to her dads house. While knowing how serious Spade is about getting to her, she goes out without anybody or letting anybody know and then causes herself to be injured and still “well I don’t like being lonely” really?!

More than half way I began skipping dialogues to finish this book quicker, and somehow I didn't miss the plot of the book. This book contains dumb, naive, contradicting, and hypocritical characters and for that lead to my one-star rating.

A great enemies to lovers, age gap romance as Isla finds herself married off to her estranged uncle, the morally grey William James Simpson better known simply as Doc – don’t panic there’s no blood connection between them - and shipped to Chicago in an attempt to protect her from a gangland boss who has a score to settle with her father after he killed his brother. There’s a lot of animosity from her father towards Doc who was once his best friend, due to the convoluted connections between them but he knew he was the only one who could protect his daughter. Doc had also been married to her aunt who was brutally murdered by the gang boss now after her but for some reason that wasn’t really explained her parents blamed Doc. Isla was a bit of a wild child, known for her partying and the last thing she wanted was to be married off to a man old enough to be her father while the last thing Doc wanted was a wife especially one that brought the trouble she did.

The sparks and chemistry flew between this pair right from the start no matter how much they denied it. The feisty Isla had been used to doing what she wanted and to suddenly have a man control her every move, well she wasn’t just going to accept that, not realising the overprotective Doc was on the alert for any danger that might’ve followed them but it wasn’t long before his dominant, dirty talking side came to the front. As a rule, I don’t mind an age gap in a romance except when the gap is so big it’s generational at which point it’s just a bit icky for me, but I didn’t feel that here. Maybe Isla was more mature than her years or Doc appeared younger, but they worked for me as a couple. There was plenty of drama and action in the overall storyline and the only thing I could fault with this book was as I said I would’ve liked more details about what had happened in the past and Doc’s part in it other than being a husband.

I haven’t read the Frost Industry books and though characters from that series appear in Fractured Vow, I don’t think that impacted on my enjoyment of this book or gave away any spoilers if I was to go and read that series now.

“This is a marriage of convenience at best. There are no feelings between us other than hatred on her part and obligation on mine.”

Fractured Vows | Montana Fyre | Tainted Love Book 2

Review: 5 ⭐️, 4.5 🌶️

“There’s a part of me that has always felt adrift, like I didn’t belong anywhere. But every time Doc wraps his arms around me, I feel like I’m home. And that terrifies me. Because what happens when this is over?”

Read this if you love: dark romance | marriage of convenience | age gap | enemies to lovers | grumpy vs sunshine | one bed | morally grey MMC | strong FMC | he falls first | virgin | dad’s ex best friend | praise kink |

“No one has ever looked at me like this, and I hope she’s the only person that ever does.”
I wasn’t sure what to think going into this book. It had several tropes that I enjoy, but it’s not my normal read. But holy cow it didn’t take much to get me hooked and I couldn’t stop reading! Like ate it up and couldn’t put it down. That said, please be sure to read the content warnings for this book. It's a dark romance for a reason, it is not a warm and fuzzy book. This was a marriage of convenience right out the gate with a 20 year age gap, dad’s ex best friend, and oh she’s also the niece of the MMC’s deceased wife. The suspenseful moments and the “how will this relationship progress” kept me engaged. Doc and Isla easily became a couple I was invested in. Did I have my “did he just…”, “whoa”, and “ummm” moments? Yes. Yes I did. And I’m intrigued enough to read more in this series and from this author.

Thank you author @montanafyre_author and @thenextsteppr
I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
