@TheDevoutHumorist is a stream of philosophical musings that offers a modern application to wisdom derived from ancient texts (with, of course, the occasional use of humor). Topics range from adult mishaps to childhood trauma, from float tank reflections to societal observations, from Jesus Christ to Jeffrey Dahmer. If you're humorless, illiterate, or a tad slow on the uptake, this book might be best left where you found it.

This was an absolute delight to read. Woodruff is shockingly observant and has a wry sense of humour that shines in his essays that cover everything from personal anecdotes, universal human experiences, and philosophical musings. I liked some essays more than others, but I enjoyed them all and laughed at more than a few of them.
This is a great book to keep in your bag for those moments where you need a quick pick me up. Would highly recommend!
As advertised, this would be perfect to read while waiting at the doctor’s office. And I enjoyed a lot of them! A nice mix of feel-good stories, pop-culture references, and witty observations about daily life that everyone can relate to. I love the author's sense of humor, and I found myself laughing out loud more than once.
Love this book! The author is deep, profound but yet very easy to understand. He doesn’t mock religions but cleverly explains complicated religious information & breaks it down to everyday living.
This is a great book to pick and read when it’s early morning and you’re sitting on the porch watching the sun rise. Your mind tends to wander to past memories of happy or sad times. This books excerpts are great in you can read one or two and then get lost in the memories these stories invoke.
Surprisingly, I was drawn into this book much more than I expected. I found myself reading it during quiet moments, like while drinking coffee, waiting in the doctor’s office, and other times like that. It even inspired me to keep working on my journal.
The author offers a preface to this book that it should not be read in order, as there is no order to the essays. He also stated it might be best to read just a few at a time, perhaps in the bathroom. This immediately drew me into the essays, as what author will acknowledge that his work is suitable bathroom reading?
Do take the author's advice, though. I enjoy sitting down for a few hours and reading large chunks of books (who doesn't); however, I found my mind wandering a lot after the first few essays.
I found the essays to be thought provoking and, at times, humorous. I appreciate the author's sense of humor, and his ability to allow me to reflect on my life after seeing his perspective. There were times that I read an essay and felt that I was reading it at the exact right time in my life. Overall, this was a decent compilation of musings that caused me to laugh at times and to think other times.
Wit Meets Wisdom Kyle Woodruff takes deep, often ancient truths and spins them into sharp, funny, and thought-provoking essays. A rare mix of humor and insight that keeps you laughing while quietly making you think.
Smart, Irreverent, and Strangely Comforting This book feels like having coffee with a friend who can crack jokes one minute and drop profound life lessons the next. Equal parts comedy and philosophy—highly entertaining.
From Jesus to Dahmer—and Somehow It Works Few writers could balance topics this wide-ranging with such ease. Whether serious or absurd, every essay feels intentional, clever, and fresh. A page-turner for anyone who loves humor with substance.
This is a fun little collection of essays to read through. No two are the same and are interspersed with a touch of humor. Perfect for brightening up your day!
