Face in dust and stones, you must have fallen.Sheer walls like molten glass shimmer in searing sunlight. You don’t know where you are. With numb limbs flailing you’re fighting, struggling to find which way is up, to stand.Crying out in confusion, you make a sound, a word? A name? You don’t remember.Standing, you lurch and stumble, fall and rise again. It’s desolate here, stark and silent, like nothing you could imagine. From reflected glare emerge people dressed in red.Armed and cautious, they creep towards you.Confuse them. Discard anything threatening.Their weapons won’t save them from… you wonder what you are.Deceive them, look friendly. Trying to greet them, you can only make that noise. One stranger sprints from the group, heedless of their shouted warnings.Radiating something perfect, she touches it in you.Mind clearing, laughing in relief, you remember who you are…Journey nameless to a strange your arrival is critical.Clarendon House Publications
After years of bashing my head off a brick keyboard, Firedance Books rescued me by publishing my work.
I found myself in a gang of great writers who were all keen to help each other get published. After a whirl of editing and mutual cooperation, one has a drool-worthy agent, one has an Ms with a superb publisher and three of us are already published. For any would-be authors out there - this is the way to go ahead - a book is a team effort. If you go through agents and publishers they will ask for numerous changes and strengthen your work as a result. If you intend to be self-published, make sure you have a gang of good quality editors - they will help you no end. A big thanks to the Writerlot people - you are all heroes
