From USA Today bestselling author Logan Chance comes a witty, romantic comedy about a boss and his assistant.
Dear Mr. Luge (aka Scrooge),
I’m writing this letter to let you know I quit. I quit so bad. I’ve taken a new position with your biggest competition, Pulse Gaming.
Finally, I’ve got a job as a marketing executive and I will no longer be your lowly assistant who is tasked with fetching your coffee or whatever you deem necessary, but is truly ridiculous.
Sure, you’re some big computer genius who invented this new gaming technology and everyone falls at your feet, but not me.
Oh no, not me.
I’m no longer the girl you’ll call at all hours of the night to belittle and degrade.
And yes, I’m so grateful that you played along as my boyfriend when my mother ambushed us that one night.
My family loved you as you performed the part of the perfect boyfriend to a T. Oscar-worthy. However, I know the truth.
You may be one of the most gorgeous men on the planet, and smartest. You may have this beard that puts all other beards to shame. And the prettiest eyes that sparkle when you walk into a room.
But I’m not fooled.
I know the real you.
The one who’s not pretending to care about me. Even when you kiss me and it feels so stinkin’ real. Even when you hold my hand and sparks zap all through me.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yay!! First Christmas book of the season that I actually finished and enjoyed!!!
This also might be one of the first romance books written by a guy that I’ve read. And I didn’t realize it until I had already finished the book. But I was surprised, because thru out the story I thought to myself several times how conversations, vulnerabilities, happenings were actually relatable.
So yes, the hero is initially a grump. It’s not his overall personality, it’s mainly directed at the heroine because of his long-standing attraction to her (that he feels he can’t act on).
The heroine was decent, relatable and cute, no real complaints, EXCEPT when the ‘big secret’ was revealed, the hero asked her point blank several times if it was true, and I felt the heroine never defended herself. She froze up, let the hero think all being said was true… I hate misunderstandings like that.
But I really enjoyed the holiday, family fun story. I felt the author did a good job with the slow burn to the steamy romance. I thought the transition from grump to in-love was paced nicely too.
A really good story, full of seasonal cheer, that is until Mr Luge enters the building. This is the story of the Boss( Nicolas)and the Assistant(January), both have feelings for the other but neither are willing to make a move. When January has had enough and gets a job with a major competitor, the relationship both comes to a head romantically, and unravel, in the most devastating way. Very much enjoyed this book, looking forward to February’s story.
Nicholas is a Scrooge, generous with money, but expecting long hours and unreasonable requests from his assistant , January. She is meant to be spending Christmas with her family, but he wants her to work,so she tries to do both. Funny, festive, steamy and enjoyable story.
January Frost is fed up of working for Nicholas Luge, her Scrooge like boss. She's already lined up a new job but needs the courage to quit. When she joins her family for their holiday, Nicholas tags along pretending to be her boyfriend. Due to a mix up at the hotel they end up sharing a room. There is an attraction between them but Nicholas has kept his well hidden. Will sharing a room be the start of something new or will it be the final nail in an already strained relationship? I loved this novella and the chemistry between the characters, the hidden insights and the twists in the plot!
Boss / Assistant Forced proximity One bed Fake dating Grumpy sunshine
He owns the video gaming company and she’s his overqualified assistant. He has to go away for an award ceremony the weekend she’s supposed to be off for a family weekend at resort. She thinks she can divide her time between family and work when her mom assumes they are dating and they go along. Eventually they share their feelings but there’s a little bit of drama along the way. She planned on quitting after the holidays to work for the competition.
Fun, quick read. Nothing too deep or really all that Christmas-y other than it happens to be around that time of year. Not a ton of Christmas vibes.
If you only have a short time to set aside to read during the holidays, TEMPTING MR. SCROOGE is a book that will keep you entertained with a spicy romance between the boss and his PA.
January’s family takes Nicholas under their wing despite the fake nature of their romantic relationship. Secrets get in the way. Feelings get hurt. But it’s Christmas and they get their HEA. Read to book to see how it goes down.
January is about to quit her job to work for her boss's biggest competitor. Her boss doesn't value her the way she wants him to, she just has to wait for Christmas to quit, and to survive the awards ceremony bc she has not yet given notice. The surprise comes when she meets her mother and her family and Nicholas pretends to be her boyfriend instead of her boss. From then on, everything happens: passion, laughter, tenderness, confessions... Fun Christmas reading
Wow! I really love this cute Christmas story! Nicholas is January’s boss and when they have to travel to Aspen for him to receive an award, January practically dies when it’s at the same resort her family is at for Christmas. She doesn’t know how she’s going to explain this to her family - that she’s here at the resort with her boss not her boyfriend. But her family thinks Nicholas is her boyfriend - so let the Christmas family fun ensue. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This boss/assistant story of Nicholas and January pretending to be a couple during January’s family trip to Aspen is the catalyst for their relationship to become a Christmas miracle full of love. We learn a great deal about these characters during this crazy whirlwind of a family’s holiday fun. Even as a business rival creates chaos for Nicholas and January, they still find a happily ever after.
Saw this recommended on Tiktok for people who liked “How my neighbor stole Christmas” and I have to say, it’s a really cute holiday read. It’s fast paced and short, has a decent anmount of spice. All in all, I would definitely recommend you read this
The novella was a lot better than the blurb makes you think it is but it wasn’t exactly great either. The boss/assistant romance is always a tough nut to crack for me and I dislike miscommunication a lot so… yeah.
4 stars. December is flying by fast. Gotta get my holiday books read. This very cute novella from a new author to me was a good time. Grumpy boss and his angry assistant find steamy times, tender moments, and big family fun.

🎄Obsessed MMC 🎄Workplace Romance 🎄Forbidden 🎄Fake Dating 🎄One Bed 🎄Cute Family Interactions 🎄Lots of Spice 🎄HEA
This book was amazing! I absolutely loved January and Nicholas’s relationship! I mean yes you’ll dislike him in the first couple of chapters but by the 4ish chapters you will be obsessed with him!
I absolutely loved his interactions with January’s family! It made me so sad when he talked about not having family like hers, but I’m glad that he now has them!
I do with that it was longer… if feel like I say that about all books that I love but it is true! I need more of January and Nicholas! It ended way too soon! 😭
Highly recommend reading! This book is perfect for the holiday season and it’s not too long and filled with spice! I mean what more do you need!
Also Logan is easily becoming one of my auto buy authors! Any book of his that I read I instantly love! And that’s saying a lot as I don’t have a lot of auto-buy authors! Just please do yourself a favor and pick up this book and all of his other books! Especially Say My Name! That was my first book by him and it’s just as amazing as this one!
This is my first Logan Chance book that is lighthearted, and I loved it!!! January Frost, I love her name, works for Nicholas Luge. She is just biding her time to let Nicholas know she is going to work for the competition after the holidays. But some things, or should I say some people get in the way . . . January’s family, to name one. January must let Nicholas play her fake boyfriend to pull the wool over her family's eyes, “When I agreed to let Nicholas play my fake boyfriend, I never expected to fall for him.”
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“Is that why your office looks like an elf threw up in it?”
“I kissed you earlier and you left,” I whisper. “
“We’re about to play musical chairs.”
“She does not disappoint and when I see her . . . I lose all control.”
“I’m drawn to her like Santa to a plate of cookies.”
We also met her sister, February Frost. I have a feeling February’s story might be coming sooner rather than later. Also, Logan did not disappoint in the heat department.
If you like the following troupes: Fake Relationship, Grumpy/Sunshine, and Boss/Assistant, you need to start your holiday reading now.
This book was amazing. I just loved January and Nicholas together. These two have a love/hate thing going on. Both are obsessed with the other but won’t admit it. I adored the interactions between Nicholas and January’s family. It broke my heart to realise he never had that. I loved how by being with January he also got the family he wished for. Plenty of spice in there too, loved the chemistry between these two. This forbidden close proximity romance was a delightful quick read. I read it al in one sitting and wanted more. Hoping to get more of these two when we get February’s book. Another wonderful read by the talented Logan Chance. There is a reason he is my automatic one-click author.
January and Nicholas bring heavy angst. They appear to hate each other, because being total opposites affects how they interact. She is all smiles and joy, while he is all grunts and dreariness.
They have secrets and are doing everything to make it without unraveling. Will the secrets come out and ruin everything?
This book was such an easy read, all the angst the MC’s experience turns into lust and that gives us a very spicy romance. It has everything you need; with all the nuttiness of family holidays, work romance, pretend dating, one bed and misunderstandings galore. In other words, you get all the naughty with the nice here!
This was an eARC sent to me by the author in return for my honest review
January and Nicholas have a forced proximity, fake relationship dynamic going on & it was such a fun storyline! I adore these two characters & the development of their journey was fantastic!
This is a fast paced holiday read that will have you craving more with lots of fun family activities and spice that will have you clinching your toes tightly!
I really enjoyed this read by the author and will be adding his other books to my tbr list.
Merged review:
This was such a great read and I really enjoyed the characters and storyline!
I loved this story. It was fast-paced, funny, clever, and well-written. This cute situation is comical, her quirkiness and his aloofness, and everything culminates into a hilarious scene when her relatives accept him as “the boyfriend.”
I love how Logan can write comical and teasing conversations. The chatter is often laugh-out-loud-funny.
It is a very entertaining and quick read, especially at this festive time of year.
