I had heard such mixed reviews on this book I was not sure if I should read it so all. But let me tell you I am so glad I did. Even thought we are only getting to hear one side of the story it was sweet to hear him talk about his mother in such a beautiful way. Harry is very open and up front about the decisions he made and how he reacted to situations verses how he should have reacted. I know many of us experience life in some sort of spotlight but I can’t even begin to imagine the hell that is the Life of A Royal. Thank you Harry for sharing your story with us and I have now added Botswana to my bucket list.
Interesting to read some of the other comments on this book. Some of them I have serious doubts they actually read the book. I don’t find it difficult to have empathy for him just because of the monarchy wealth/privilege. He was actually born into an extremely dysfunctional situation and left to cope with that pretty much on his own for the better part of his life. I feel like he was a victim in many similar ways as his mother was. I’m glad he was able to tell his own story after a lifetime of being forbidden to stand up to the abuses. I never cared for Charles or Camilla, but had more empathy for Charles after reading insights into his life as presented here. Still, in the end, he chose to be awful, so… Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and didn’t want it to end. I think the negative comments and ratings are more of a reflection based on choosing the other side than anything.
I actually listened to this book on Audio (didn't actually read the book). This book was narrated by Prince Harry, which was nice. It was an entertaining read for the most part but I felt that there was way too much war/military talk for my liking. We're reading this book to learn about his life and most of his life was with the royal family. Only a few years were spent in the military but the book had too much on that. So I had to skip most of that because it felt unnecessary to know the ins and outs of planes and running for ur life stuff. We wanted to know the tea about the royals and his relationship with Megan. But Harry seemed to be really buttering up his wife and throwing his family under the bus. Not saying things weren't tough for him but something seems off at times. I still found the book to be entertaining
I was very skeptical about the book . It seemed that it maybe a cry baby book but it wasn’t exactly that . I wouldn’t want to be judgemental abt how ppl feel however I would just like to caution that every story has a side . It’s good Prince Harry told his but without knowing the other side we can’t know the whole truth . The 3 main villains in the story are the Paps, king Charles and prince William and the Royal staff . I do hope Prince Harry and his family find the peace and happiness they have set out to find
A privileged public figure whining about being in the public eye. I'm sure writing the book was cathartic, and also lucrative for Harold. I also realize that trauma is no respector of persons. Unfortunately, it's difficult to be sympathetic for someone with access to such wealth and resources. If you truly want to be out of the public eye, don't write a tell all book about yourself, Willie, Pa and Granny.
An entirely different world bringing a whole different way of needing to navigate life, Harry's perspective and story has moments of heartbreak, earth-shattering fear, love and so much growth which is relatable to any reader. We're all human and we all have a story. We're also better when we listen to understand.
A real insight to the mind of Prince Harry. An open and honest account from someone who is clearing suffering and on occasions you want to sit down and have a really good chat with him.
