A kiss is a secret told to the mouth instead of the ear…
I have an embarrassing secret. I'm a romance writer who's never had sex. All the steamy scenes in my books are made up out of thin air, but my readers don't seem to notice.
I rocketed to the top of the genre charts with my series Queen of Brooklyn. It's the story of a mafia princess named Marianna who has to choose between two gorgeous men who are each perfect for her in their own way. The problem is, I can't finish it because I have no clue what true love feels like.
In walks Jace, a male escort hired by my literary agent to teach me the ways of the world. She's afraid that I won't be able to handle all the high-powered Hollywood producers who are interested in turning my books into film. What better solution than to give me my very own arm candy?
But though dating and sex are part of the package, true feelings are forbidden. The more time I spend with Jace, the more I feel myself falling for him. Am I destined for a broken heart or could the boyfriend vibes I'm getting from him be real?
Does he have feelings for me too, or am I just another paying customer? I have to find out before it's too late and I end up handing my heart over to a professional.

This book left me questioning if it was satire at more than one point, whether the author themself is lacking in real life experience due to certain descriptions, and if a smut thesaurus is their best friend because they seemed to use nearly every synonym for *those* body parts possible including some oddly veering into medical territory. Also the model on the cover is a poor representation of the main character as she is supposed to be a shy, almost completely inexperienced/socially inept writer who lives solely in baggy sweaters (& definitely wouldn’t take the time to either curl her hair or properly care for naturally curly hair) until the love interest puts her in the one dress she owns at the time.
This captivating romance delves into the intricate dance between professional obligations and burgeoning personal feelings. Readers will be drawn into a world where carefully constructed barriers begin to crumble under the weight of undeniable attraction. The narrative intricately explores the emotional vulnerability of the characters as they grapple with their desires and the potential consequences of crossing established lines. Beyond the central romance, the story offers a journey of self-discovery, prompting readers to consider the delicate balance between ambition, duty, and the courage to embrace unexpected connections.
Brenna is an author who lives a quiet life in a small town. Her book is going to be turned into a movie. Her agent hires a man, Jace, to get her use to the many people she will be meeting in California. Together they get her comfortable and ready to face her doubts. They end up falling for each other while gets a part in her movie. And the fun begins in next issue. Cannot wait to read it!
That's how it's done. Enjoyed reading the process of writing as part of the story. The story was clean without a lot of clutter. I'm sure more details will develop as the plot moves along. Jace and Brenna are a good team. Hoping for the best for them.
A intriguing beginning to a series, Brenna and Jace's story held my attention. I enjoyed the inside look into a reclusive writer's mind and the male escort character was a fun one to read about.
The low rating is purely because of the writing style. The idea for the story is a fine one, but I don't believe the execution did it justice. The sentences felt drawn out just for the sake of being longer, and there were soooo many unnecessary details. Also, it felt as though she wrote "I said" after every single line of dialogue (and thought), and then went through using ctrl-F and a thesaurus. I wondered, I pondered, I declared, I remarked. It stood out a lot to me.
