In 2017, Audrey launched her own online shop filled with her happy + whimsical designs for kids. It was also in 2017 when Audrey and her co-author Jackie Knapp started dreaming about Lily Huckleberry's adventures around the kitchen table, laughing at their crazy ideas and drinking way too much tea.
The first book of the Lily Huckleberry travel series, titled "The Adventure of Lily Huckleberry in Scandinavia" and directly published by This Little Street, is scheduled for release in the fall 2018.
The story & characters were imagined by Audrey + Jackie, with Jackie's writing and Audrey's illustrations to make the story come to life.
Through Lily's story, Audrey hopes to show kids the beauty + diversity of this world, give them a brave female role model to look up to, foster their imagination, and create a society of little explorers that are curious about the world and always ready for adventure.
Originally from France, Audrey lives in Berkeley, CA with her Danish husband and their four silly, adventurous little girls, who give her a good run for her money and are constant sources of inspiration for her work.

I was able to track this down thanks to ILL and thoroughly enjoyed it! It is a bit of a Alice in Wonderland meets travelogue and the illustration style reminds me of those cute kawaii-style video games while also having some realistic detail when needed (the style of the dala horse, for example, is so spot on and I so love all the flower gardens!) and the little nods to local myths and history are great. I appreciate that the pronunciations for words are included right below the text so you don't have to interrupt the flow by flipping back and forth to a glossary. Includes some great back matter about Scandinavian culture and history. I would love to find more books in this series.

کتاب جالبی بود ولی احساس میکنم این حجم از تخیل برای من خیلی نامأنوس هستش و دقیقا مثل کتاب "پسری که دوردنیا را رکاب زد"، نمیتونم لذت آنچنانی ببرم
ولی از ۳,۴ صفحه آخرش خیلی خوشم اومد چون باعث شد یکبار دیگه دقیقتر کتاب رو ورق بزنم و کلی چیز یاد بگیرم
و البته نمیشه از کنار بزرگترین نقطه قوت: تصویرگری قشنگ کتاب گذشت
ولی از ۳,۴ صفحه آخرش خیلی خوشم اومد چون باعث شد یکبار دیگه دقیقتر کتاب رو ورق بزنم و کلی چیز یاد بگیرم
و البته نمیشه از کنار بزرگترین نقطه قوت: تصویرگری قشنگ کتاب گذشت

منم از این کره جادوییها میخوام.
عاشق طرحهای گلها شدم. تاجش و روی تن حیوونا.
تازه کلی چیز هم یاد گرفتم.
دلم هم کیک توتفرنگی میخواد و دوچرخهسواری در کپنهاک و استکهلم و هلسینکی. :’)
از اینکه هانس کریستن اندرسون نخوندم و اشارههای ریز کتاب به قصههاش رو نمیفهمم غمگینم. از اینکه سلما لارگلاف رو نمیشناسم هم.
ولی به نظرم هیچ غمی نیست که خوردن کیک توتفرنگی نتونه محوش کنه. :)

نمیدونم درس نامحبوب شما توی مدرسه چی بود. ریاضی؟ عربی؟ فیزیک؟ درس نامحبوب من جغرافی بود. کلاسهای خستهکننده، اطلاعات بهدردنخور گیجکننده، نقشههای پر از جزئیات.. تنها باری که از کلاس جغرافی لذت بردم وقتی بود که باید با همگروهیم دربارهی زلزله ارائه میدادم. در حالیکه سر تا پا گچی بودم داشتم سعی میکردم با دو تا تختهپاککن شکل حرکتهای مختلف صفحههای زمین رو به بچهها نشون بدم. اونم چون اولین باری بود که شنیدم میتونم معلم خوبی بشم.
هفتهی پیش حنیف کتاب لیلی رو توی کتابخونهام دید و قرار شد قبل از خواب بخونیمش. ما از جلد ژاپن شروع کردیم. شوقِ توی چشمهای حنیف وقتی لیلی تکههای مختلف اژدها رو پیدا میکرد و لبخندِ روی لبهاش وقتی اژدها کامل شد شگفتزدهام کرد. فکر میکردم متن کتاب براش زیاد و حوصلهسربر باشه اما انقدر داستان درست قدمبهقدم پیش میرفت که خودمم از دوباره و دوباره خوندنش خسته نمیشدم. بعد از ژاپن، جلد اسکاندیناوی رو (که در واقع جلد اول مجموعهاس) خریدیم و خوندیم. به جذابی ژاپن نبود اما این جلد رو هم خیلی دوست داشتیم.
دیشب داشتیم دربارهی تفاوت پرچمهای نروژ و دانمارک و سوئد حرف میزدیم، موضوعی که فکرشم نمیکردم من و پسر شش سالهام رو درگیر خودش بکنه. تفاوت پرچمها گوشهی کوچیکی از داستانه، اگر بهش دقت نکنید چیزی رو از دست نمیدید، کتاب اصراری نداره حتی براتون توضیح بده فرقشون چیه اما وقتی میشه جزئی از مسیر ماجراجویی لیلی، دوست دارید دربارهاش بدونید و بفهمید. همینقدر هنرمندانه!
نمیخوام جملهی کلیشهای "اگر جغرافی رو اینجوری بهمون یاد داده بودن چی میشد؟" رو بگم. کتاب لیلی ترکیبی از جغرافی و تاریخ و فرهنگ و جادو و شگفتیه. ولی اگر هر درس رو در خلال یک روایت جذاب بهمون ارائه میدادن، درس نامحبوبی باقی میموند؟
پ.ن: این روزها فراغتی برای برداشتن کلاس کتابخوانی ندارم اما در حین خوندن کتاب ناخودآگاه یک عالمه فعالیت جذاب به ذهنم میرسید که میشه توی کلاس اجراش کرد. پنهان کردن تکههای اژدها توی بخشهای مختلف کلاس، بازدید از موزهی عروسکهای ملل، ساخت اوریگامی، رسم نقشهی مسیر حرکت لیلی، درست کردن کارت انجمن ماجراجویان و ....
پ.ن۲: کتاب رو معمولا مناسب هشت سال به بالا معرفی میکنن، اما میدونید که ردهبندی سنی خیلی کمکی بهتون نمیکنه. بسته به روحیه، علاقه و سابقهی مطالعه برای بچههای کوچیکتر هم مناسبه، حتی چهارسالهها
پ.ن۳: دو جلد بعدی: مکزیک و آمریکا

A lovely, fun adventure with Lily Huckleberry! The book itself is physically beautiful (with a special prize at the end!) with gorgeous illustrations, format and binding. The story is really sweet and Lily is such a lovable character. I loved how much I learned about Scandinavia while reading this book and I found the end of the book especially interesting. I can't wait to read the next two in the series. Totally worth reading as an adult - I smiled every time I turned to a new page :D

Super-cute story of a little girl who magically travels to all the Scandinavian countries to rescue the strawberries for her village's festival. Illustrations are colorful and lively and we learn a little bit about each country. The back pages include even more information and point out that one of the illustrations includes references to several fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen.

I love this book! It's a charming tale of the little girl Lily Huckleberry who goes on a magical adventure to Scandinavia. The book is beautifully illustrated, and super fun to read from the word go. My sister asked me to read it to her three times just today! I think this book will be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. 😊 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

These books are INCREDIBLE. Long for children’s books, but my 3 year old doesn’t mind because the illustrations are so stunning and give us SO MUCH to look at while we read. They are the perfect combination of fantasy, adventure and education about our wonderful world! And finally, they are so silly and get so many giggles out of little readers 😊 Highly recommend!

I love this book! It is so much fun to read. My daughter loves the story, she even acts it out. She requests it all the time and it's a book I don't mind reading multiple times. The story is enjoyable and the illustrations are adorable.

I love that the authors meticulously compiled a silly word database while preparing to write this book. The story is full of whimsy, creativity, and courage which are demonstrated as Lily finds adventure.

My daughter and I I love this book! The illustrations are beautiful and you get to learn about various Scandinavian countries. If I could just take out the part where the Vikings promise not to chop any heads off then I would. That doesn’t really belong in a book for young readers.
