This series keeps getting better. Our United Sovereign Fleet heroes decide to go on the offensive in their fight against the Swarm. As much as they have learned to combat the Blues, the Blues have likewise learned to counter Human tactics, so does it always wind up a stalemate? Commodore Richard Morian has been tasked to capture the Imperator, an alien technology, to use it against the Swarm; what will be the cost of that foray? While our friends are out in space, their foes are plotting against the royals; what problems will they cause? Mr. Howard has once again combined strong characters and multiple plots with non-stop action to keep me glued to the story, not wanting to put it down. I highly recommend this series. Do yourself a favor and read it from the start. I’m eagerly awaiting the next book.

Defector: Part 1: Imperator (Sovereign Stars Book 5), my fifty-seventh read from author Blair Howard, one of my favorite authors. Very different than his earlier books but every bit as enjoyable. I'm not a big science fiction fan but I am a Blair Howard fan and he's writing science-fiction as well as he does detective fiction. Well-written, enjoyable, and thoroughly entertaining! I always look forward to the next work from Howard; a Blair Howard book is like a visit from an old friend. Compares favorably with Daniel Gibbs Echoes of War series. I really enjoyed the latest book in the Sovereign Stars series, The Defector. I haven’t read much science fiction before this and only read these because I enjoy Blair Howard’s work. I wasn’t disappointed. Very good story and character development. Built on the previous books in the series so you get to know the regular characters. I like that. Set in the future of course but doesn’t seem far fetched. If you enjoy science fiction I think you’ll really like this series. Can’t wait for the next book. Cliffhanger ending!

An action packed sci-fi with a well written storyline and outstanding characters. Humans battle with the swarm (blue) for control of the universe. There are many challenging and difficult situations in this page turning adventure. Contains plenty of action, lots of suspense, and several twists/turns. Highly recommended book and series (should start from the beginning). Ready for the conclusion of this excellent series.

Captain Morian, Prince Elio and the gang are all back. Now they are ready to take the fight to the Swarm and take back their world. I was hooked on page one and was shocked to find I had reached the end. This series is getting even better each book as I learn more about the enemy and how the war is affecting everyone. I find all the emotions in each of these books; love, hate, violence, lots of action. What a book!

Another worthy addition to this series of books, fighting aliens in Space and trying to avoid being stabbed in the back at home, very good on the edge of the seat suspense from start to finish. Characters very strong drive the action along , leaving you as most books with a following story on tenterhooks waiting for the next installment I enjoyed it greatly and would recommend it highly

Wow, is this a cracking story or what. Probably the best one yet, but what is part two going to be like though. It started slowly and the picked up pace to what I didn’t see coming but should have expected. I enjoyed every single word from beginning to end. Cannot wait for part two. Highly recommended.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the first four books in the series and Defector Part 1 Imperator did not disappoint. What I’ve found in reading all of the author’s works is that he gives us very good character development. In addition, the author has created an interesting universe and continues to expand it.

I enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one to come out.

This book was better than the last book, the characters are growing and becoming stronger. Even the new characters are adding interest to the story. Prince Elio has been arrested and lost the throne to his younger half brother. But he has something up his sleeve, his powers are growing stronger. They are also figuring out how to stop the swarm. This was a really good read.

Wow! Action packed doesn't give this next segment of the Sovereign Stars justice! This book is not only full of action but also political intrigue. A few really great twists and turns which will keep you turning the page and leave you wanting more. A great read.

Fans of Science Fiction should truly enjoy this series. Defector Part 1 Imperator is Book 5 of the Sovereign Stars series. The main characters who were introduced in the first four books of this series and several new characters quickly bring you up to speed on the ongoing conflict with the alien beings they refer to as the Swarm. As it seems they have an opportunity to analyze the some of the equipment being used by the Swarm to further their cause, our main characters find themselves in increasingly challenging and difficult situations. Defector Part 1 Imperator provides the reader with an exciting and entertaining tale that I found hard to put down and left me looking forward to what comes next.
