Another great book in this amazing series.

I read There I Find Light (Strawberry Sands Beach Romance Book 7) by Jessie Gussman through the kindle Unlimited program. I am throughly enjoying this series. There is always a message, a lesson if you will in the book. But, it not the knock you over the head type message. The stories are all different and I have so enjoyed getting to know all the characters in each of these books. They don't feel like characters, they feel like people you could sit down with and have a conversation and a cup of tea with. Check them out, you will be so glad you did.

Such a fun story in the Strawberry Sands Beach Series. Each book is fine as a stand alone story although there are continuing characters and story-lines from book to book. Strawberry Sands is growing as the new hotel is up and running. The hotel was build by Franklin and Noah, who are business partners that both grew up in Strawberry Sands. Franklin lives in Chicago and is still trying to figure out if he wants to move back to Strawberry Sands.

This story opens as they are celebrating the first annual Strawberry Sands barn dance. Eleanor, who is one of the Landry siblings did all of the decorating for the barn dance. She owns a local dog grooming business and she hasn't had a boyfriend in a long time. Her last boyfriend broke up with her and then she discovered he had been cheating on her the whole time they were dating. So, she is somewhat leery about dating again. When she is nervous, she sometimes has a hard time getting her words out which is what happens when she tries to ask Franklin if he wants to dance with her. The jumbled phrases has him looking at her funny and when he gets a phone call he walks away. So when Eleanor's friend Sally comes up with a crazy kidnapping plan that goes horribly wrong, it is Eleanor that has to rescue Franklin from a small shed in the middle of a winter's blizzard. Getting stuck together with Franklin and a pregnant cat delivering her kittens
wasn't how Eleanor planned on ending her night.

Franklin had no idea how he ending up trapped in the small storage shed. With a severe blizzard on the way and a cat who seemed to be having a difficult time delivering her kittens, he is happy when someone comes to rescue him. Realizing it is Eleanor, his business partner's sister-in-law, he remembers how she didn't make any sense earlier at the barn dance. He gets to see who she really is while they are forced to spend the night in the shed due to the heavy falling snow. Her cell phone is dead so they have no way to contact anyone. Their forced proximity gives them both time to get to know one another and Eleanor shares how she suffered from panic attacks in her teen years after her father abandoned them.

Will this horribly wrong kidnapping end up being the thing that brings these two together?

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

Eleanor and Franklin’s story is entertaining, insightful and inspiring. A bungled kidnapping leads to a lifetime love match. Franklin’s brother was the one who was supposed to be kidnapped, but once the kidnapper realized her mistake, she called Eleanor to help her correct it. In trying to do just that, Eleanor herself ends up stranded with Franklin in a shed while a blizzard rages outside. During the long cold night, they witness a miracle, let their guards down and reveal some personal secrets. They also huddle together for warmth and form an unexpected bond that they call friendship, but actually runs deeper. They both feel an inexplicable connection to each other and implicitly trust each other even though hours ago they were strangers. They both don’t want to forget what they shared that night or the connection they feel, though both question it a few days later after misplaced loyalty causes strife between them. Is it God’s plan for them to be together and build a future, or is this situation meant to lead them away from each other? They will need to put their faith in his guidance.

This book also touches on the subject of anxiety, which is something many people deal with and often struggle to hide. The author has used a deft, compassionate approach to including it in Eleanor’s personal history. The inclusion makes Eleanor a character who is more realistic and relatable. The characters and storyline are both fascinating and inspiring.

“I had to memorize verses that said that God was good. That He only wanted good things for me. And when bad things happened, I had to understand that they were only bad because I was looking at them like they were bad.”

This book definitely started out in a different way from these other book in the series. I read the blurb and I actually then went back to verify I had the right book. 😂 A kidnapping gone awry is definitely new. Especially in a Christian romance novel!

I appreciated our heroine’s struggle with anxiety. It’s been a part of my life at least as long as it was hers. And, as an adult, I too desire to keep mastery over it without the use of synthetic medications. I appreciate all that was said about God and control and our perspectives on things because it is all Right On. As Gussman always is. There’s a reason I look up so much to her and think so highly of her. Like, role model and who I aspire to be (if we’re talking outside of Jesus, of course). I always learn so much from her and her books and I’m always edified, confirmed, and challenged in my faith. I also liked the theme of true friendship and actions based on Christ’s character, rather than our feelings. Another lovely addition to this beachy series and I can’t wait to see where the next books will take us.

I received an ARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Eleanor is an introvert who would rather be behind the scenes than in front of people. She works as a dog groomer because she'd rather be around animals. When she is asked to help plan the Christmas barn dance, she agrees. At the barn dance, her good friend, Sally, hatches a plan to get Peter and Norma Jean together. Her plan goes off course and she kidnaps Peter's brother, Franklin instead. She panics and calls Eleanor to rescue Franklin. When Eleanor reaches the cabin where he is locked in, there is a cat in distress. They help the cat deliver her kittens, but the snow storm has blown in and they are trapped in the shack.

Franklin is more of an introvert himself. As he and Eleanor work to build a fire and stay warm until the storm passes, they find that they have a lot in common.

I love how Jessie develops each of her characters. Eleanor tries to see the positive in all things. Even while trapped in a shack with a relative stranger, she is kind and thoughtful. Franklin isn't a charmer. He's just a nice man. I love that Jessie uses ordinary people who try to do the best they can every day, but sometimes fall short. They apologize and work at being a better person.

I liked this romance between Eleanor and Franklin that developed when Eleanor's friend, Sally, kidnapped Franklin by mistake and locked him in a shed. When she told Eleanor, Eleanor went to rescue Franklin who she had already started to have feelings for. With her car nearly out of gas, her cellphone needing charging, and having bald tires when a snowstorm was forecasted, Eleanor set out to rescue Franklin. It turned into a funny situation when they had trouble getting the door open and having it shut and get stuck again after Eleanor entered the shed. Then a momma cat started having kittens at the back of the shed. Eleanor was able to help deliver one kitten that was stuck allowing the safe delivery of four kittens total. Sally had told Eleanor that she had left a care package in the shed and there was a wood stove, Eleanor and Franklin worked together in the dark to find what they needed to survive the night in the shed in a snowstorm. They had time to talk and get to know each other before someone rescued them the next day. I liked the way Jessie had their relationship as on and off again before they worked things out in a HEA ending. I recommend this as a clean Christian romance. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Eleanor is very shy and gets tongue-tied when she tries to speak to strangers, something she has been working on. On the day she tries to talk to the handsome Franklin who is her brother-in-law’s business partner she can only spit out gibberish. Franklin doesn’t know what to think and so he ignores her. Later she finds herself getting pulled into a prank, that unfortunately gets her locked into a cabin with him just as a snowstorm hits. In the meantime, a cat in the cabin is struggling to give birth and might die and the temperature is dropping fast.

This romantic story of forced proximity by Jessie Gussman is sweet and filled with her usual common sense and faith-filled wisdom. Eleanor and Franklin get to know each other under extreme circumstances where both of their true personalities shine. The story is simple and sweet and as a reader you find yourself wanting these two closed-off people to open up to what God has planned for them. This story is part of the Strawberry Sands series and can be read as a stand-alone.

I received a complimentary advance reader copy and this review is my honest opinion.

Kidnapped and stranded by a friend? With friends like that…..
Such a fun premise for a book. I found myself laughing, shaking my head, and realizing, yup I know people who could do something like this. Sally has decided to set up Peter with her cousin Norma Jean and she has a plan. She’ll kidnap Peter lock him in a tiny cabin, then have Norma Jean rescue him, hopefully with both being trapped in the cabin because of an incoming storm. Unfortunately, Peter changed shirts with his brother Franklin and Sally identified her victim by his shirt. So, she kidnapped Franklin, locking him in the cabin. After realizing her mistake, she sends her friend Eleanor to rescue Franklin. Eleanor takes on the rescue mission and soon finds herself stranded in a snowstorm with Franklin, unable to even contact anyone for help. As Eleanor and Franklin work together to survive the storm, they begin a friendship with possibilities for more. However, someone else has her eye on Franklin, unbeknownst to anyone especially Franklin. Can one night snowed in together show them what they truly wanted? I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

This book is more lighthearted than most of the Strawberry Sands series has been. There is mistaken identity and forced proximity which starts the main characters relationship. The forced proximity allows Eleanor and Franklin time to get to know and appreciate each other's true character. Then story takes a twist and moves the characters into the city, and increases the pressure each of them is under. Eleanor has to decide what real friendship means in terms of a person's actions, and she makes several wise and courageous decisions. I was really cheering for her at this point in the story!
I like the way Eleanor values and accepts herself, but also wants to grow as a Christian woman. I think that the author has written Franklin as a real person, a man who is almost too nice. Because he's a nice guy, first he ends up trapped in a shed and later he finds himself with two dates for the same event.
This is a nice story, a HEA and a standalone. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion.

God works in mysterious ways!

Eleanor Landry still had problems with anxiety and panic, although not as crippling as when she was younger. Once she turned her problem over to God her life was easier. Still, the distance across the dance floor to where Franklin was standing seemed vast. It took courage to cross it and ask him to dance and her social anxiety turned her words into an incoherent jumble.

Franklin thought the woman facing him was kind of pretty but she was obviously drunk or some other issue. Soon, his night took a turn for the worst. His shirt got stained, his date for his big charity event can't make it, and now another young woman was trying to talk him into delivering kittens. Could this evening get any more complicated? Most definitely!

This book is a perfect addition to the series. Parts had me laughing out loud and other parts made me a little weepy. I loved the ending! I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

There I Find Light is the story of Eleanor, one of Lena's daughters, and Franklin, partner of Noah, who both grew up in Strawberry Sands. At the Christmas barn dance Eleanor tried to ask Franklin to dance but her words kept coming out all mixed up. He could not understand her and when his phone rings he walks away. But, when Sally comes up with a crazy scheme to get Franklin's brother Peter locked in a shed with her cousin Norma Jean with a snow storm coming, Sally thought a night in a shed together would make Peter and Norma Jean fall in love. However, Sally kidnapped Franklin and just as she was locking him in the shed Norma Jean calls and tells Sally that Peter has found her and they are dancing. Sally gets so scared she leaves and calls Eleanor to go get him out. As Eleanor is leaving the barn dance it has already starting to snow. Now her car is blinking low gas and she has bald tires. Do you see where this may not turn out good?

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. When Penny locks the wrong man in a shed and leaves him there during the Christmas Barn Dance, Eleanor goes to his rescue, but a snowstorm is starting, her tires are bald, and her phone is nearly out of battery. Once she and Franklin determine it’s best to wait out the storm, they start a fire and share warmth for the night. They decide they like each other and he asks her to attend his company gala charity event since the person he had asked is not able to go. When the other woman is again able to go, Franklin makes the mistake of asking Eleanor to back out. She decides to forgive him and goes anyway with her sister and her husband who is Franklin’s business partner. An uplifting book filled with inspiration and forgiveness.

I totally enjoyed this book by Jessie Gussman. She has such a creative mind – it’s fun to follow the story and experience the twists and turns. She tells the story with a sense of humor, like how Eleanor tries to ask Franklin to dance, yet gets her words tangled up so she makes absolutely no sense. When Sally decides to “kidnap” Peter to further a love connection, she accidentally gets the wrong man based on an accident with wine and a cowboy hat that hides his face. This leads to a lot of unforeseen circumstances.
This book was fast-moving and entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I love the character of Eleanor, and Franklin is a great guy who seems to get caught up in situations that make his life difficult. I recommend this book if you’re looking for a way to relax with a quick read and humorous situations.

I really love this series. The stories always have a good message, with a bit of romance thrown in. Strawberry Sands seems like a wonderful place to live with wonderful people who could easily be your friends.

Eleanor was quiet and lived with a lot of anxiety. She was content being a dog groomer but would like to have a mature relationship. Years ago, her boyfriend cheated on her and she hasn't bothered dating since then. When she tries to rescue Franklin from a surprise kidnapping, she finds that she enjoys spending time with him. He seems to enjoy her company, as well.

When their friendship moves to the possibility of something more than just friendship, Franklin's misstep might just stop it before it gets going. Will they both see the light before it's too late?

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Beautiful story

Forgive my brevity, but this is my third attempt to write a review due to technical issues in my end. So, I'm going to bullet point my opinions.
• Faith and character are a common thread in Jessie Gussman's writing. This story highlights some of the best character development I've seen in a story of this length.
• It starts out with the "snowed in together" trope, but that's just the first act. Some of the best parts come later, with the notable exception of their discussion about her anxiety.
• Although it is part of a (wonderful) series, it is a stand-alone.
• The romance is lovely and sweet. No cliffhangers to take anything away from that feeling.
So, with that said, I will only add this: if you're getting to decide to read or not to read "There I Find Light" - Read it. <3

Eleanor is shy and fears rejection. With the Lord’s help, she is an overcomer of severe depression. Franklin is a businessman who has business in Strawberry Sands. Through a mistaken identity situation, Eleanor and Franklin become quite well acquainted. When Franklin’s date to a charity function he is heading has an emergency and cannot go, he invites Eleanor. Then a series of complications occur, leaving Eleanor again feeling rejected. Can Franklin make it right and reclaim Eleanor’s friendship – and more?

This is a very enjoyable book with lovable characters, lots of laughter, and godly principles.

This was a cute story of mistaken identity, snowbound strangers and a pregnant cat. In an attempt to force Peter and Norma Jean to spend time together, Sally hatches a plot to kidnap Peter, trap him in a cabin and then have Norma Jean rescue him. Everything falls apart when she kidnaps his brother by mistake and convinces Eleanor to go and rescue him. Things get complicated when her phone dies, a snowstorm hits and her car is almost out of gas. The inevitable happens and they develop feelings for each other. After they are rescued, more complications arise and it looks like their relationship is doomed before it ever begins. A fun story to read.

Unknowingly put into a situation beyond your control turns out to be a good thing for our heroine who spends most of her time in the background, doing her job, but not seeking any reward. Our author knows just exactly how to bring a quiet person together with another who generally has no time for romance, just business. She uses unbelievable circumstances, the weather and a slight change of clothing between brothers, to get two people together. She uses all the right manipulation at the right time. The tale is both funny and emotional at times. I always get the best entertainment out of each and every story.

Jessie has done it again, a beautiful, heartwarming, inspiring story. Elenore Landry is an introvert that would rather be behind the scenes, when she tries to ask Franklin to dance, she gets so tongue tied she makes no sense. Then when her friend does a kidnapping gone bad, Elenore the ever helpful, willing to serve person goes to help her friend make it better. I love how Elenore was able to trust in God, willing to forgive because that is what He would do. I love how Jessie can weave such wonderful messages into her stories without sounding preachy. I loved this beautiful story of personal growth and forgiveness.

'There I Find Light' was heartfelt. It was one of the best narratives I've read in a while. The page-turning plot was filled with a bumbling first impression, a mistaken identity, being stranded during a snowstorm, a frazzled mama cat having kittens, spirituality, hurt feelings, drawing the wrong conclusions, a heartfelt apology, forgiveness, and love. Eleanor and Franklin, the protagonists, were ideally suited for each other and gushed with chemistry. I enjoyed the storyline and the way the author told her tale which included concrete vivid details. Overall, I loved the passionate narrative.

Eleanor finds it very hard to talk to people, and even though she organised the dance, when she goes to talk to Franklin she makes a complete idiot of herself. Then she discovers that her friend Mandy in a mistaken attempt to matchmake, has kidnapped Franklin and has abandoned him without his phone or transport at a remote cabin... and Mandy wants Eleanor to fix the problem. Surprise surprise, Eleanor ends up trapped with him by a snowstorm, but does manage to hold a coherent conversation. You'll have to read the book to find out how it went but spoiler - there is a HEA. I received an ARC but this review is my own.

Another fantastic clean story from Jessie! This one is a comedy of errors with Eleanor and Franklin. Eleanor struggles with anxiety and Franklin is a business man who is a loner. When they first meet he thinks she is drunk because her anxiety takes over. Then a kidnapping prank goes wrong forcing them to get to know each other better. There they get over some of their awkwardness. Then he asks her to go to a charity fundraiser with him. That is also fraught with errors. Throughout the story Eleanor remains her giving and charitable self. Jessie has a way of weaving excellent life wisdom into her stories that can't be beat! Excellent story in an excellent series!

*Annual Christmas barn dance
*Kidnapping gone wrong
*Stranded in shed during heavy snow storm

These are just a few highlights in this clean, Christian romance with a happy-ever-after. It's lighthearted entertainment with the wonderful characters Jessie Gussman is known for.

I enjoyed reading the biblical discussions between Eleanor and Franklin. It helps put Bible teachings in perspective for me. Also, my favorite thought was "If you don't change something, you can't expect anything to change."

I was given an ARC of this story from the author but this review is my honest opinion given voluntarily.

Sweet story of Eleanor and Franklin. I enjoyed getting to know Eleanor's story, but I did fuss a bit, who am I kidding, a lot, at Franklin when he was stupid about the date to the gala fundraiser. Eleanor was called to the rescue of one of her friends hairbrained schemes. Franklin was just an innocent bystander at the town barn dance, taken because of a mistaken identity.
I read the book in one sitting, it was that engaging. If you like clean heartfelt books you will enjoy 'There I Find Light'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

We're finding out more about some of the other people who live in Strawberry Sands. Eleanor, who isn't very good around people but works great at planning the barn dance. Franklin who lives in Chicago and prefers the big city.

What happens when he is mistakenly kidnapped and locked in a small shed on his brother's (Peter) property? Eleanor is the one to go rescue him, but they get snowed in. This could prove to be a very interesting situation. You'll definitely want to read the book to see what happens.

I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

When Eleanor's friend first hatches a wild plot to matchmake by kidnapping, then accidentally kidnaps the wrong man, and finally crowns her achievements by abandoning him locked in a shed despite the incipient blizzard, Eleanor knows she has to go to the rescue. Fortunately, Franklin is surprisingly understanding - and even more fortunately, he turns out to be quite an enjoyable person to be stranded with. But what will happen after the blizzard? Can the bond they've formed survive 'real life'?

Another heartwarming visit to Strawberry Sands, with some inspiring dialogue, interesting characters and amusing situations - plus a bonus cat and kittens. This one is not particularly connected to other books in the series other than sharing the setting and some secondary characters. A delightful brief-ish escape from life with an encouraging story and Christian attitudes. A good read, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
