I am so glad we got this prequel novel to Everly and Cenric’s story because I adored them so much already in the Bloodstone Series and I just needed to know more about them!

This one is dual POV between our two favorites and I adored both of them wholeheartedly. Everly was so sassy and sarcastic and I loved being inside her head. It’s a worrisome place but also a super fun one. And Cenric is definitely very gruff both inside his head and out. But he’s so much more in his heart than anyone would’ve guessed. And I’m so glad we got to see all that.

This story was emotional and nerve wracking. It wasn’t fun to watch us fall in love with some characters only for them to leave us due to the consequences of war. But it made the story more emotionally charged, more detailed, and gave our characters more determination to fight for better futures for themselves and their loved ones.

This story cleared up some of those unanswered questions in the previous series and helped make that story more complete in general. And I so loved getting to see some of our favorite other characters again!

Read this prequel novel if you enjoy fun fantasy reads that are easy to get into and keep you coming back for more 💜💙

This was such a fun prequel!

It was a very enjoyable read that allowed us to see how Cenric and Everly's love story began. While I have read all of the Bloodstone series prior to reading this book, I did feel as if I was missing bits and pieces of their story still. While I had that feelings, it didn't fully take away from the story I was still receiving from LiAnne. I LOVED Everly's sassiness and how she wasn't afraid to be her true self with Cenric and the other people in camp, even while hiding some pretty BIG things. I would've liked to see the conflict between Cenric/Everly and Hawke/Avlina drawn out a bit more so that I had a little more understanding of it, but I still enjoyed the tory nonetheless. A good prequel to lead you into the Bloodstone series!

The Epilogue B....I AM SO EXCITED TO LEARN MORE!!!

So I really enjoyed the book!

This was a prequel to the Bloodstone trilogy and I had always been interested in Cenric and Everly after reading about them in the trilogy. It was especially fun to learn more about Cenric and what he was like because he is not as fleshed out in the Bloodstone books.

Everly is a feisty and sarcastic heroine. Although, I will say sometimes Everly was sometimes a bit impulsive I do appreciate seeing her grow throughout the book.

Cenric and his history with his family was a great way to show how multifaceted he is with being a big brother to Praxis.

One thing that I did fine a bit frustrating was the push and pull between Everly and Cenric, and I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. Other than that I thought it was a great prequel!

🚫 Not for K-12

I loved The Cursed Bloodstone trilogy by Lianne Kay, and this prequel did not disappoint!
Told in alternating POV, this book works as a standalone but I appreciated having read the first three prior to this one.
The way Kay writes both main and side characters makes you want to learn more about their individual stories as well. I was so pleased to get the full scoop on Everly and Cenric! Yet again, she wrote a novel filled with palpable tension and the HEA we knew was coming, yet still almost doubted as we dived into their story.

Definitely recommend.

I’m looking forward to LiAnne Kay’s upcoming works in the new year!

I really enjoyed this book!
So I haven’t read the rest of this series, but I’ll definitely be reading it now!

This book follows the interesting relationship of Everly and Cenric. It’s dual POV, easy to read and super entertaining. I love our main female main character, she’s super fun and sarcastic, they’re the definition of sunshine and grumpy! I’m obsessed!

I enjoyed the bits of spice throughout this book too!

Wow! Such a great read. I really loved Everly in the Cursed Bloodstone trilogy and I was super excited to see her in a new book. Keeper is about Everly and Cenrics journey of falling in love and the hurdles they face with Everly being an outsider. I love that we got to know Cenric more. The story is compelling and complex with rich world building and great characters.

The Keeper by Lianne Kay is an exhilarating prequel that adds depth to the Bloodstone series, giving us a glimpse into the beginnings of Everly and Cenric's complex relationship. From the moment Everly is captured by the rebels, her fate seems precarious—she must either join the rebellion she once spied on or face certain death. Her mission to infiltrate their ranks and seduce their commander takes a surprising turn when she discovers the commander is none other than Cenric, a figure from her past. The tension between them, rooted in both bitter resentment and undeniable attraction, keeps the story gripping.

What I loved most was Everly’s sassiness and how she remained unapologetically herself, even while keeping significant secrets. Her dynamic with Cenric and the other rebels was refreshing and full of tension. While the story provides a solid foundation for their relationship, I did feel like there were still pieces of their backstory that could have been explored further. I also would’ve loved to see the conflict between Cenric/Everly and Hawke/Avlina fleshed out more for deeper understanding.

Nonetheless, this was an engaging prequel that sets the stage for the larger Bloodstone series. Fans of the series will appreciate the insights into Cenric and Everly’s beginnings, while new readers will find themselves pulled into the world of rebellion, deception, and love. A solid lead-in to the main series that leaves you wanting more!
