In the shadows, I found a destiny that was never meant to be mine.
All my life, I've been an outcast and the target of cruel jokes. But fate flings me onto a different path when I receive a full-ride scholarship to a prestigious university I never applied to.
As the new girl at Evergreen Elite, I’m surrounded by whispered secrets and danger that lurks in every corner.
Then I meet Raffe Wright, the university's sexy, broody quarterback, whose presence stirs something deep within me.
Every instinct warns me away from him, yet I can't fight the magnetic pull between us.
As I unravel the mysteries of the university, I uncover truths about my own past and secrets that could change everything.
Each step leads closer to Raffe, and the destiny that brought me here.
But the deeper I delve, the more I realize that Raffe might be both the answer to my questions and the greatest danger of all.
Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.
I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes. I am so pleased that you stopped by my page! Please feel free to follow or contact me at the following pages -
So, I naturally got drawn to this because it was a wolf fic. And it is without a doubt that I am not surprised on how deeply I have regretted my purchase and actions.
The amount of times she fizzed in this story was uncanny. I get that she's "different" but there was not a chapter that she did not fizz! she kept fizzing to the point I believed she’s part soda. That's how much she fizzed.
“Wolf Mate” by Jen L. Grey had me hooked! I’ve not read that many shifter romances, but I honestly love them! This story has everything: forbidden love, fated mates, unexplained magic, and "mine.” 🤩
Skylar, the FMC, is someone we can all root for. Life hasn't exactly dealt her the best hand, thanks to her unique “qualities” that always make her an outcast. But Skylar isn't one to back down. She's a strong woman who's built her own resilience. We've all felt like the odd one out at some point, and that's what makes Skylar such a relatable character.
Raffe, the brooding love interest. Now, let's be honest, he starts off as a bit of a jerk. He tries to be a good guy, but his clouded judgement makes him come across as a total... well, you get the picture. But there's a reason for his gruff exterior, and thankfully, we see the guy he always meant to be at the end. And yes, by the end, I totally forgave him for all his wrongdoings. ♥️
The side characters were developed and written extremely well, adding more depth to the story. They're all fantastic, and I wouldn't be surprised if they got their own stories someday. Lucy, with her sass and loyalty, quickly became my favourite. Here's hoping she gets a chance to shine in the future! 🤞🏻
Moving on, THAT CLIFFHANGER!!!!! I think my jaw broke; it dropped to the floor that fast! It left me reeling and desperate for more. Thankfully, I only had to wait long enough to pull the second book up on my kindle before finding out more—that's how good Wolf Bitten was. (Also the reason I didn’t write my review immediately, I was busy 😂)
Overall, “Wolf Mate" is, in my opinion, a must-read!! If you are a fan of supernatural romances, a love story that sizzles (even with a grumpy start!) and enough twists and turns to keep you guessing, then it’s the book for you! 🐺
4.5 ⭐️ I think I've entered my wolf shifter romance era! Haha.
Steamy, vampires, witches, wolves, touch her and die broody MMC - um, yes, please.
Not going to lie yall, I've been a total couch potato today and read this book. I started sometime this morning and just finished around 10pm. It was a great, fun, easy read book that kept me at home turning the pages, lol.
I hate weak females she’s supposed to be this super powerful one, and through the whole book. She cannot control her powers like she did not gain not 1 ounce of control. She was like he needs to treat me better yet every time he touches her she goes right back to him…lame.
This was only the second book I’ve read in the shifter romance category and I really enjoyed it. Forbidden mates/lovers/friends is always a trope that I am down to try.
At first, I was totally irritated with Raffe as a character. He was very pushy and bossy, which can be a huge red flag as a story went on. I grew to really love him and was rooting for him.
I’m interested to read the second book to see how everything ends up working out because it left. It’s such a cliffhanger.
I just needed something easy to read but this is so problematic because all the relationships here were so toxic. it makes me uncomfortable to rate a book like this because I know I am just burned out because of work and want something to read and forget about real life for a while, but I know well enough that this is so bad. However, 16-year-old me wouldn't have known that this is toxic and so not romantic at all. I have been feeling sorry for Skylar all the time. I never felt like this was good. I kept waiting for her to take a good decision and cut things off with unfortunately everyone around her because they were all toxic but this never happened and what worries me is the younger people reading this and instead of feeling sorry and wrong, they might feel like this is what they should be looking for in a relationship. Also why is it so hard to find something easy to read that's not so toxic !!!!!!!!
This was pretty good but also I’m a sucker for shifter books.
I did really dislike how often raffe was portrayed as a good guy when he was being a 💩.
This is a trilogy and sadly this author is notorious for only the first and last books of her trilogies being good. The middle one is always pointless and subpar.
I’m sorry but this book is below amateur level reading, the reason I say that is. If you have ever downloaded those reading apps where each chapter is three coins is giving that. It not worth it. Im not sure how this book is rated high when for me personally I lost brain cells in every way possible. I personally would not recommend this book to anyone even friends obsessed with wolf shifter novels.
Oh this was bad bad. This writing style just isn’t for me and the characters???? Oh gosh they were as interesting as an empty blackboard… Pacing was all over the place… will I read the rest of the series because this is basically supernatural reality tv? Absolutely 🤣
I rounded up tho because I felt the book deserved it. It had all of my favorite tropes. Fated mates, forbidden love, FMC with an actual backbone, broody MMC turned golden retriever, and touch her and die vibes. I even enjoyed the twilight references lmao. The vampire named Edward and the book of twilight had me cackling. I repeat, this is definitely for the Team Jacob girlies to get their lick back. Also beware there is a cliff hanger at the end. But it definitely worked bc I will be back for Book 2.
The only thing keeping it from a complete 5 stars was bc I think I wanted just a bit more explained as far as the world building and magic aspects but I’m hoping they will be better explained in the sequel. Also if you don’t like angst or drama this probably isn’t for you, but on the upside I felt the angst wasn’t overpowering at all. It was the kinda drama that kept the pages turning and me needing to know what would happen next as opposed to just being hella juvenile for no reason.
Full disclosure, I was sent a copy of this book by the author. Now that’s out of the way… I was not at all expecting to binge read this and have it hit the top of my list of favorite paranormal shifter romance reads!
I thought this was strictly going to be a wolf shifter romance but it’s so much more! There are witches and werewolves and vampires and so much mystery! We never find out exactly WHAT the FMC is and this book ends on a crazy wild and unclear cliff hanger! I LOVED IT! 😍
There’s a bit of bully romance/ enemies to lovers. Some found friendships turned frienemies…sooo much romantic tension and I really enjoyed that the major on page spice was at the very end! It really added to the build up and drama of the cliffhanger!
This book also has awesome side characters! There’s a twist at the end I truly DID NOT see coming! So,if you enjoy a plot heavy paranormal shifter romance that is absolutely binge-able and completely entertaining, check out Wolf Mate! 🐺 I’m definitely going to buy a copy of 📖 book two! I NEED to know what happens next!
This is an academy (University) read with characters that are just starting to come into their own. Skylar has always been an outcast so it makes her awkwardness not only understandable but relatable. She's had a hard time and I feel so bad that she had literally no one in her corner but she keeps moving forward. Even if I found at times she was a little bit too soft (in certain situations) but overall she has a quiet strength. Of course, things are gonna get worse before they get better but I'm ready for her to have the good stuff.
Raffe Wright is her counterpart, the MMC, he's complex and caught in a tough spot. My feelings for Raffe are complex. Understand all the BS I see someone who is a good guy but he's letting everything else get in the way and he makes the wrong decisions when it comes to Sky. Plus Adam and Keith are his right hands, and frankly, his choosing those two says quite a bit, and none of it good. I like Raffe but he needed to do better
The plot was good. When the supernatural world is side-by-side with the unsuspecting human world things get hairy real quick. Sky and her heritage are a big question mark, some complicated supernatural politics are going on and I'm pretty sure some shady magic with an underground power struggle. Sky was pulled in several directions and I wasn't sure where things would lead.
Ancient tomes, dangerous secrets, and wild magic, this book was my jam. Wolf Mate was so good, so many shady people who do you trust. The story ended on a cliffhanger. I didn't see the who coming, but I have a good idea about the rest of what's going on. I guess I'll find out in the next book, Bitten Mate.
I really enjoyed this book – it was a fast read! The only thing that bothered me is, I hate when you leave me hanging with a cliffhanger in the next book isn’t available – that really gets my goat
Well, if you’re gonna read this book get used to it because literally that that’s all that this chick does is fizz nonstop. It’s so beyond annoying.
This book was immature beyond words. Everybody was just acting like little children with stupid bullshit drama. These people were all in their early to mid 20s and you would think they were 14.
The FMC was just pathetic and weak and acted like a doormat the entire time. Nothing changed or progressed with her throughout the book or with her powers at all.
The MMC was just a douche-canoe who treated her like shit the majority of the time. His character was written like he was some kind of Jekyll and Hyde one moment he’s being completely inconsiderate and an asshole in the next he’s being nice and loving. It gave me whiplash and it was extremely unbelievable. I honestly don’t know why the writer wrote him like that. And it made the FMC even more pathetic for constantly forgiving him, and putting up with his shit, no matter what the reason was for why he did it.
Nothing happens in the book really at all other than drama. There’s no real relationship progression . There’s no magic progression. We are not really delving ourselves inside of the wolf shifter or other supernatural’s worlds. It’s just very immature high school kind of drama, even though this is not a high school and these people are in their 20s. There wasn’t anything likable that you could hold onto while reading this book. Their relationship wasn’t enjoyable to read she didn’t have any really great friendships that you could hold onto. There was nothing cool or interesting about her magic that we could hold onto. And the plot was just nonexisting and too vague to be excited about and hold onto. And the things that were there were very predictable and didn’t hold any type of mystery for making me want to read the next book.
I would absolutely not recommend this book. It’s a waste of time. It is too long, filled with drama and nothing great in it. All these people that are giving this book 5 stars are fucking liars and are probably just doing so because they were given a free book which is always such bullshit to me here on this site !
I'm always a sucker for werewolf books ever since my Twilight days. Team Jacob 'til the end.
Anywho - this was a great first book in the trilogy. It was cool seeing what a college for humans and the supernatural is like - even if the humans have no idea what's going on around them.
I knew right from the beginning that Raffe was going to be Skylar's mate - I mean that was super easy to deduce since it's part of the title, but seeing him fight so hard to not be with her, treating her as a social pariah, and just generally being the normal "jock dickhead" I wasn't if it was going to be him or not.
But Slade on the other hand...from their first encounter when Skylar was having a "moment" before her first class, just screamed suspicious vibes.
For some reason I was craving a shifter romance book and just nothing seemed to fit what I was looking for. This still didn’t quite hit what I wanted but I was certainly entertained.
Is this a good book? Subjectively no. I stayed for the vibes and I had a mostly good time. The plot is decently interesting and I’m half excited to see where it goes so I think I’ll at least go on to read book 2.
My main ick will forever and always be naive FMC’s. I truly cannot stand it; our FMC is stated to be 21 but acts much like I imagine I did at 16. Everything so the end of the world and you can’t look past the immediate needs and wants. I can usually hang in there for character growth, this hasn’t happened yet for our FMC but I’m willing to keep going. Honestly I’m not sure why.
been debating if i should air out the fact that i read this, but im so behind on my reading challenge that i don’t care😭 My mutuals need to mind their business and scroll away. I was craving a wattpad werewolf book and this book gave exactly that. It was honestly good. It’s hard to find decent werewolf books that I finish. I liked the MC it was cringe at times and certain stuff the male MC did irked me but i mean it’s a werewolf book… of course he’s going to be annoying. Storyline was good and i love forbidden romances.
Ohh my goodness!! That ending just about did me in. I wasn’t paying attention to the time remaining, and I was sucker punched. Such a fun introduction into this new shifter academy world. I like Skylar and Raffe. I just love broody guys in my books. This is a perfect read for anyone wanting to dive into a shifter series. This one has all types of breeds. The narrator, Marnye Young did a good job portraying Skylar. She kept me engaged till the every end.
This just didn’t do it for me. The MMC sucked and was a dick to the FMC for a majority of the book and she just accepted it. She was a doormat and he was a hypocrite and I honestly don’t really care about their relationship.
Academic based story with the most perfect angsty forbidden romance.wolfs, witches & vampires who definitely do not live in harmony amongst each other. cliffhanger ending, making you NEED more immediately. pure perfection 👌
The heroine is all over the place. When it was snuck in there that she was intelligent I had to laugh. Not sure where this was going but the whole being caught up in boys and what they thought of her.. It's like trying to keep up with someone who's had 20 cups of coffee. This book failed to hold my attention.
