USA Today bestselling author Jennifer L. Hart writes about characters that cuss, get naked, and often make poor but hilarious life choices. A native New Yorker, Jenn now lives in the mountains of North Carolina with her imaginary friends. Her works to date include the Cougars and Cauldrons series, the Silver Sisters series and the upcoming Legcay Witches of Shadow Cove.
Oh the dreaded book 3 in a series. How to keep it new and fresh? What if I just pull a Freaky Friday switcheroo with my witchy ms warrior and her Alpha shifter son who are having communication issues?
Sacrifices to make This is the third book in the Cougars and Cauldrons series which I enjoyed immensely. In this story Sam, Damien and Mathis are trying to navigate their relationship. John, her son, the Alpha of the pack, is angry with his mum for her deal with the Genie (which affects his life) and he is unable to forgive her. She also notices Alba, Damien’s mum is not acting like herself lately. I enjoy getting caught up in the drama of these characters and the community that they live in. A headstrong older woman, adored by her men, trying to protect all of those that she loves. Not perfect, at times flawed but with a heart of gold she will try to do the right thing for everyone. There is danger coming to the Convergence, evil werewolves, sacrifices for love, kidnapping and much more making this a great series which I’m looking forward to continuing. A really enjoyable and easy listening to narration. I received an audiobook copy for my honest review.
Bottom line: I finished the book so it gets a default three stars.
However, I truly disliked and disengaged with the main character. She was arrogant, impetuous, and insensitive, hurting those she supposedly cared for. To paraphrase a character in the story addressing the MC “…even now they’re squatting in hell to protect you from your own short-sightedness because you always crave more.” Sums her up nicely.
I finished the book because I was hoping that she would get her comeuppance. The “Alpha’s” solution had my full support! And no, her MS was not an excuse. This is the last book in this series that I will read.
So I’ve got to say this one definitely my favourite so far, honestly I nearly didn’t come back after book 1 but I wanted to look past the potential love triangle that ended up morphing into a ménage which is much more comfortable and slightly less dramatic than a triangle scenario…lol But really 3 damaged souls coming together the heal each other that works for me. As for the spoilt narcissist of a man-child lol I’m holding our hope with John becoming a father himself he might come around to being. Decent human being… but he is male so… lol
Think "freaky Friday" with shifters as Samantha Silver and her friends battle with a demon known as The Investor as well as a pack of werewolves trying to assert dominance while Damien and Mathis are trying to assert themselves in Sam's life. Add Alpha shifter John and his pregnant girlfriend Jessica, Alba and the others in leadership of the coven and it's amazing how well the whole and the sum of it's parts come together in a satisfying third book in the series. Highly Recommended 5/5
Best one so far. A lot going on in this story. Quite the rollercoaster the author & characters take the reader on. If you haven’t already, pick up the first two books so that you are not lost. There are a few spots that may not be for everyone but luckily the author gives you warning & you can skip ahead and not miss out of the story. I look forward to seeing where the author takes this series next.
This series just keeps getting better! I loved the Freaky Friday twist to give John & Sam a chance to see the problems they are each facing. (And love that the author’s notes at the end references the Freaky Friday’s inspiration.) The small community is group of such unique & Interesting characters. It’s fun to see more of their individual skills & characters.
I really like this one! It had me guessing the whole way through. I liked the dicisions the main character made and seeing other's lives through their eyes was very interesting. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next in the series.
Magic & mischief come fast and furious in this tale. The stress level rachets up another couple notches as our motley crew deal with outside threats & a new baby. Someone will have to make significant sacrifices & they won't come out unscathed.
