One evil supervillain spends most of his time hatching nefarious plots to take over the world—but on his days off, nothing gets between him and the cute pandas he adores! This fresh, charming comedy series answers the age-old question of what a villain does off the clock!
Even the heinous General, a member of the Evil League attacking Earth, can see that working overtime is inefficient! Leaving the office at a regular time is true righteousness! And after clocking out, one must revive their withered soul by watching videos of pandas and eating delicious food! But between a robot cat and a new leader shaking up the ranks of the Evil League, life is about to get a whole lot rowdier for one overburdened villain...
The series switched gears here. Chapters were longer, allowing the characters and stories to develop. Mr. Villain didn’t get as much time off as usual, so not as much panda action, but we saw how he is at work. It seems his underlings like him and worry about him. And there was a small surprise about his tail too. I’d been wondering about it, as he doesn’t have it on his days off. Rangers had some family fun, but Mr. Villain and Red only met briefly. All in all, a good volume with great stories that left me feel happy and warm like always. Now the long wait for the next volume.
The fifth volume of Mr. Villain is a delight as we see more bad-guy-is-good content as he explores Earth. My particular favorite episodes were “What I Want” and Cheerleader from “Mr. Villain and Wonderful Days.” “What I Want“ is a delightful episodic comic focusing on the Rangers (which I love seeing more of) and a sort of parallel juxtaposition with Mr. Villain. I also enjoyed the new little creature (calling it a Starry Cheerleader) in “Wonderful Days” hope to see more of it along with C-018 in the next volume in March 2026 (US release).
Still so good! I did find a couple of chapters in this volume a little repetitive, short and kind of boring, but still a feel good read full of silly, sweet moments, and lots of pandas of course! Mr Villain is still the best, and I love the Black Ranger too!
Another fun volume. We got to meet a couple of new characters from the Vilians side of things and I think they are all going to be super fun. Aside from that there were a lot of really short encounters in this volume that were fun but I don't have much to say about them.
Least favourite so far. Not sure what it was about this one but just seemed like a lot less laughs than the previous ones… also the story with the brother and sister sharing a body was just confusing.
This had a lot more time spent at his actual (evil alien) work too, and I like when the focus is on the softer things he does on his day off.
The rangers' relationships makes my cold, dead heart beat.
Everything else was alright. Love all the pandas, but this was a touch aimless. (Though that's the whole point of this series ahah). Mr. Villain's subordinates dotting on him though? So sweet.
Looove the color plate in this one again. I've bought a few prints and things but would gladly pick up an art book at some point, or just find more of the color plates that I can plaster over my walls...if only I had room for that...
This is such a wonderful series. I wouldn't say this volume is as great as the last one - there weren't really enough of the Rangers, although I adored the final chapter with Red seeing the General being kind to an old lady on the train.
There was a lot more of the Evil League this time, with new characters being introduced, and a surprise reveal that the General's tail and shoulder claws are actually just some other creature in a symbiotic relationship with him??? That's honestly kind of weird...so he's not actually transforming at all when he's off work, he's just removing his cloak and his coworker. That's uh. Strange.
The cherry blossom girl and wooden bench boy chapter also wasn't as great as the others have been - feels a bit like those ones are running out of material. But it's still overall a really sweet book and I love this series a lot. It does feel like there could be more of an actual plot forming on the Evil League side, although I don't know if that's likely. The bit about "a new leader shaking up the Evil League" on the back cover wasn't true because that didn't happen at all?? Confusing.
Another fun volume. It started off with a very relatable chapter about carrying too many groceries bags up the stairs, I felt the General’s relief when he finally reached the top. hehe. We got more content of him being in his working environment; showing just how much he’s cared for by his colleagues. I liked the introduction of the new characters Ul and Ashe, it was a nice twist to find that theres one sibling trapped inside the others body. Also, we got a bit of a surprise reveal regarding the General’s tail and the claws on his shoulders—with them essentially being separate from his being was another fun twist, especially after wondering about it for the past few volumes and questioning how he hid them on his days off.
I really appreciated the "change" in this volume in that it seemed a large part of it took place as our villain's job rather than at home or somewhere randomly chilling on his day off. I think it made this world seem even larger than what it is because now we see it's not just him who is "fighting" Earth, but like the blurb has said, an entire Evil League.
Not only that, I liked the new characters that we met and that the cute "pet robot" is still active in the story too!
Lots of happy moments that made me smile and laugh and definitely still enjoy this series!
Another adorable and relatable volume in this wonderful series. General's struggles with daily life problems are so familiar (e.g., his struggle with carrying groceries like distances). The various relationships he has with the widening cast are also a lot of fun, particularly how much his coworkers like and care for him. I also love the constant focus on maintaining proper work-life balance and not doing more than you're paid for, or giving your higher-ups special favors or something.
Morikawa's art continues to be so gorgeous and cute, and it's a delight to see.
New enemies have appeared! The dreaded... stairs and gacha machine! But that's not going to keep us down for long because we have pandas and steamed buns and days off.
But the majority of this one is introducing two three new characters from Mr. Villain's team: Meurah, Ul, and Ashe. Meurah is the master torturer. Ul is the doctor. And Ashe is a fighter. I need more of this, because I wanna know more about the home world.
This series just gets better and better! I love the detail about his tail. I didn't even realise. Silly. I love C-018 (robot kitty), so adorable. Again, I love the story about the trees, the cherry blossom mudballs are cute. I had a chuckle at the end, once again a truce has been called... these guys are never going to battle and I think I'm ok with that. And I feel all their pain trying to get a specific gachapon.
Still a cute series. It was especially funny that the toy machine kept giving each group the opposite character than they wanted 😆also, his tail, and the hands onhis shoulders belonging to separate creatures was unexpected. Here his subordinates were worried it was swishing out of anger, but then were flabbergasted that it isn’t part of him…it swishes out of boredom.

I will forever love this series and how light hearted it is. They always find a way to make me smile and also reminds you to enjoy your time off and take breaks. Something I struggle with not feeling guilty to rest and enjoy my days off. I will be sad when this series comes to an end, but when it does I will definitely be buying them.
There were some absolutely precious episodes in this volume!
I feel like, at this point, his subordinates are scarier than he is. Heck, even the twin ranger kids seem more vicious! But still, I truly do love Mr Villain. I wonder if we'll ever see him fight the rangers... Hmmm...
could i differentiate between each book if they didn't have a different color cover? probably not, but that's okay. this knows what it is and it knows its lane. I actually have been really enjoying the rangers side plot
