This was my favorite in the Valorian Chronicles series, probably because I thought that Lyra and Theron had a close connection that drove the book. I have found that these Nocturnes are just too short. There is not enough room to get anything accomplished, so the storyline can be a bit rushed. I didn't find it quite as noticable in this book, but I do feel like it could have delved deeper if the book could have been about 75-100 pages longer. But for a shorter book, it was very good. I like antiheroes, so Theron appealed to me. He had a dark side, a history of casting black magic spells that backfired on him. To be honest, it could have been worse, but for Lyra, who was a white witch, that could have kept them apart. Fortunately, Lyra went with her heart and believed in Theron despite the obvious fact that he was hiding part of himself from her. Lyra is an appealing protagonist. She's nice, intelligent, but is certainly no plaster saint. I liked her dialogue with her deceased grandmother who hovers over her as a spirit, and gives Lyra guidance whether Lyra wants it or not. It was also nice to revisit the CSU team, and catch up with Caine and Eve and Jace and Tala, from the first two books. Again, this was a good book and I enjoyed it. I just wish that it was longer and more in depth.

I loved the sexual tension between our antihero, Theron, the half-vampire, half- witch and our cop heroine, Lyra, the white witch. Lyra is also a virgin so she is leery of Theron but the sparks are definitely there. Years ago, Theron dabbled in dark magic which he fears will keep Lyra from falling for him so he hides this fact for as long as he can. Unfortunately, Theron knows some of the key players in the murder investigation and they tip his hand. The murders are gruesome but the author does a decent job of keeping the gore from the reader. This may just be because these books are so small that there isn't room to include all the details. Of course, all the characters from previous books play a large part in the investigation.
I've really enjoyed this series and just noticed that another book has been added. However, it doesn't chronicle any of the previous characters so we'll have to see.

I've been reading this series completely out of order. This is my first read into the Valerian chronicles. But hey, I really enjoyed it. Theron and Lyra (unfortunately I keep thinking of His Dark Materials, but I digress...) have genuinely steamy chemistry. But yes, like Danielle said, it is too short, but for that short period of time, I was quite immersed in this world of forensics and the supernatural. It's definitely an interesting twist on the paranormal 'genre'. Now I'll have to back track and read the rest.

I am really loving this series and author. I love the way she spins a story. Although I enjoyed this one, I was a little disappointed with Lyra's stubborness and attitude. It started grating on my nerves. I did like Theron and his protectiveness of her. I just thought Lyra's attitude was a bit overboard. I did like the story and how the mystery was finally solved. I have been hooked to this series from the beginning.

Another awesome book in the Valorian Chronicles/Otherworld Crime Unit! This time it is Lyra Magice and Dhampir Theron LeNoir who are featured in this book. Lyra needs Therons help with a spell and he agrees to help her if he can work with her. Unfortunately he discovers that its Lyra who is needed to complete the spell and be the virgin sacrifice to open Hell's Door. Steamy and HAWT discribe this book. Loved it!!

The serial killer who terrorizing Otherworld city Necropolis is still on the loose. The Otherworld Crime Unit (OCU) team haven’t a clue who is could be, but investigator and which Lyra Magice begins to fear they are facing something more powerful they ever seen. They found several demon spells on the victims and to break those, she needs a special book. So Lyra travels to France and try to convince Dhampir Theron LeNoir to borrow them the book, so they can stop this killer. But Theron doesn’t want the book out of his home and refuse, so the only thing for Lyra to do is….steal it….
Back in Necropolis, Lyra is desperately trying to break to spell, but for some reason she cannot see the answer and when Theron shows up to collect his book, she knows she is running out of time. But then Theron surprise her and agrees to help Lyra with the spell, only if he can work close with her. Soon Theron discover that Lyra is the key sacrifice in this whole game, she is the key to open Hell’s door, where evil demons could cross over.
Veiled Truth by Vivi Anna is the third novel in her Valorian Chronicles and again a terrific novel in this CSI book series. Just like the previous novels I couldn’t put the book down and had to finish it straight away.
The novels in this series are easy to read and you could read the books without reading the previous books, but I have to say, I recommend reading the books in the right order, because you‘re missing out a fabulous books if you skip the first two.
This time investigator and witch Lyra Magice travels to France to convince Theron LeNoir to borrow the OCU his book, which could lead to reveal the serial killer. But because the book is very old Theron doesn’t want it to leave his home and refuse. Well Lyra is desperate to break the spell and steal the book. Of course she knows he will come after her, but she hopes to convince him to help them with this case and so he does. Theron wanted Lyra for so long and this is the opportunity to convince her that she belongs with him, only him. And when Theron discovers that Lyra is the sacrifice in this whole game, he will do anything in his power to prevent that to happen.
The attraction between Lyra and Theron was there from the start, totally hot and steamy. They met in the past and Theron really wanted to have Lyra, but she didn’t want to be one of the many women in his life and refused his bed. Now several years later that attraction is still there and when even Lyra’s dead grandmother ghost are helping fate a little, Lyra knows she is doomed….to fall in love with Theron.
I know there is only one book left in this series and I have mixed feelings. One part of me wants to read that novel really bad…I know for sure its going to be a fabulous one and the other part of me wants to delay it, because when I’m done this great series is over…..hmmmm…difficult choice…

I didn't enjoy the last installment of the Valorian Chronicles as well as I did the first two - even though the series came to a conclusion with the capture of the serial killer, I had a difficult time with the two main characters, Lyra and Theron. It wasn't that he was French, or that she reminded me of a new age hippie. I just didn't feel them. Despite these qualms, I enjoyed the series and am glad to have read it.

This book was actually pretty good. The plot kept me interested and the leads were well written. I was able to get lost in the story and enjoy it. Not the best vamp. book I've ever read but it's up there.

This is a continuations of a series (within a series - Silhouette nocturne). The first one was great, second - not so bad. This one is the least interesting of the 3. But still enjoyable.
