Quiet streets hide the worst crimes

Manchester’s Manor Estate is the kind of place people want to live – smart houses, neighbours who look out for you. But what if you don’t want to be seen?

Behind the tidy front gardens and glossy painted doors it seems everyone’s got something to hide. Love, hate, addiction, jealousy – on a street where everyone’s watching, you can’t keep a secret forever.

For these families, it’s time to find out what is really happening on home territory. Someone’s selling their soul, someone’s selling their body, and someone’s going to pay…

Goodreads also has books by me listed as Karen S Woods and Karen S. Woods.

I write fiction and nonfiction.

When I was a young college instructor, if anyone had told me that I would be making my living as a writer, I would have told him that he had the wrong woman. Oh, I had stories and characters dancing in my head, clamoring to get out. Writing, however, was something I did strictly for my own amusement, as I had done since I had written my first short story at the age of five. I simply had plans for my life other than writing. I was quite happy teaching undergraduates. Hey, I had to use my degrees for something, didn't I? I do quite enjoy teaching. But, it dawned on me that I could and did write tales that were as good or better than the ones I read in my leisure time.

As for me at this stage of my life, I tease that I live a quiet life. Well, maybe it's quiet in comparison to a Category Four hurricane. I've been married to my best friend since 1979.

First book by this author which I borrowed from someone's library books as I had finished the one I was reading. Not read anything like this before it was about a Manchester road where everything you could think of, happens. There was murder, theft, affairs, drugs, domestic abuse and bad language. If you are experiencing any of these, suggest you don't read it. Gritty read not the type of book that I would get again. One thing Bert stole a wad of cash from Vincent so pretending to lose cash going to the market, as broke, to his wife didn't quite add up.

Good reading from Karen woods.

This was a really good novel to read and every chapter was worth reading . The characters in this book seemed real and I felt I was actually there.
It was good bedroom reading before I fell asleep. I give this five stars and we'll worth reading .I would definitely recommend this book.

The story of life on a fictitious Manchester housing estate called the Manor. There were four different stories running together so plenty going on and lots to question. It held me to the end and I enjoyed the plots but the characters were very exagererated at times and needed more depth. A good holiday read. 4 stars.

I enjoyed this read but I felt it wasn't as good as it could of been. A good ending though and one I never saw coming! Unfortunately I couldn't give this book 5 stars but I look forward to the next Karen Woods book. I still recommend this book.

The Watch

Interesting characters all based in a close knit neighbourhood. You really don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. I guessed the outcome & endings well hence the 3stars
