It's all getting too much for Miles, because as well as battling villains such as Hobgoblin and Hightail, chilling with his beau, Starling and allying with Blade and Bloodline, he may be in need of therapy! Ziglar's second volume does little for me, Miles feels like any other text book hero now, Brian Bendis' legacy looks like its gone. It's readable but it's also quite flat, even the battle scenes. A Two Star 5 out of 12 read, for me. This is why I have started reading manga, Marvel's mostly run out of ideas!

Slightly better than the first volume, but nothing transcendent.

3 stories here, starting with Hobgoblin because why not? That's actually the best of the lot with Miles accepting the fact he needs to talk to a professional about his stress.
This is followed by an issue where he shoots the shit with this new character Hightail. It's not badly written but it's still not very interesting.
The volume closes with the arrival of Blade- who does magic now?- and his daughter, whom I discover here and already hate. Do all Marvel teenagers have to be little pricks with a quick wit? And what with the new Halloween costume? On sale in all good joke shops.

A solid follow-up but not as good as volume 1. Basically the first couple issues are the best part, having Miles vs Hobgoblin and Miles dealing with Trauma and going to therapy which all makes sense and is well done. but then the last two issues focus on Blood Hunt and this event, I gotta be honest, is not for me. Miles killing vampires isn't really interesting and fun.

Overall first half is a lot of fun, second half is meh.

Miles has gone far in creating his own feel for his Spider-Man title. I have loved the character for a long time, but I wonder how much longer he will stay in high school...
Highlights:
- Miles and Hobgoblin go hard at each other when Hobgoblin decides to steal tech from the ruins of Beyond Corp. Despite the assistance of Starling, Miles may have a new arch rival once he answers the voices of the Queen Goblin he hears in his mind...
- Being stressed and overwhelmed has Miles' Spidey Sense going crazy. He seeks therapy from Doc Sasquatch, who is able to teach him some breathing techniques to help him focus.
- This series has a speedster villain tailing Miles by the name of Hightail. She seems like the type of villain that Miles could have a complicated love story with LOL
- Just when things seemed to be going easier, an energy vampire crosses Miles' path, which brings Blade and Bloodline to Brooklyn! Team up against an ancient vampire named R'ym'r finishes out the GN and sets up for "Gang War", the new Marvel crossover.

Overall, Miles is always an entertaining book. Love the new "Venom Sword", and excited to see what's next for him.
Recommend.

The streets of NYC have Brooklyn's hero working overtime as he deals with Hobgoblin, Hightail, and the Cape Killers. To add to the mix, Miles spider senses are intermittent, so he seeks help with his mental stability. Another threat arises, and Spiderman teams up Blade AKA The Day Walker to thwart and contain it.

Still really enjoying this run. I like the idea that Miles is having trouble processing everything he goes through and needing therapy, it’s very realistic. I’m confused as to when so many people knew about Spider-Sense, though. Blade was a cool guest-star a little out of the norm, and Hobgoblin makes for a good foil for Miles. Good stuff here, I’ll take more of it

Given the cover I was expecting a lot more Hobgoblin, even when I was reading it, he seems like a huge threat but as soon as he gets what he wants, he literally disappears. But boy him taunting Miles and threatening to kill some many people was pure evil and I loved it!

One draw back from the get go was when Miles was talking to Starling, he was mentioning events that happened in Carnage Reigns whilst I get not including the issues in this it does seem like we missed some pretty big stuff, like character development. So for those who haven't read it we can't feel sorry for what Miles is going through with his this PTSD, he's had it rough last volume to, it just seems like Parker luck right now.

We get another bit afterwards which kind of seemed more impressive with a speedster trying to takedown Miles because he's breaking the law. Which again wasn't really explained, I think it was something to do with Champions, Vol. 1: Outlawed which happened 4 years ago and I thought had been sorted out or retconned by now? They have a clash and it's a good story but then the whole thing turns into a Blade team up and whilst I love Blade it just felt very heavy handed and out of place. Miles agrees to help him and his daughter fight energy draining vampires even though he's at the end of his tether and then things go wrong.

I just feel like this volume was juggling too many things at once and it doesn't feel like it has it's own personality. There are three crossovers in this Outlawed, Blood Hunt and Beyond (Hobgoblin stuff) and then if you include the Carnage references it's 4 it's just too much to make the book enjoyable on it's own without diving into all of these tie ins and I doubt most of us will be doing that.

This was a pretty fun read. I like how this title is showing the character struggling with overwhelming emotions and asking for help and thus therapy, and dealing with it in a realistic way and that will actually help some readers and its fun to see in superhero comics. I like how this title has Miles going up against Hobgoblin and really making him a bigger threat in his life, even in future issues and you see how dangerous he has become now, after the whole "Beyond" era and its nice to see the continuity of it.

Miles then teams up with Blade and his daughter to fight some ancient vampire thing, and then there is that Cape killer "Hightail" this speedster whose after him and then when all these things converge and she becomes a vampire, what will happen next?!

Its kinda insane how these stories are getting connected in weird ways and Miles life is getting challenged. The continuous threat of Rabble is there in the "villains getting advanced tech" and I like that, and its like 2 issue stories but building to something large and even in next volume you see some familiar characters from here and so yeah overall this run is turning out to be the best ones for Miles. This volume was great and will make you like Miles and his world even more and the character writing is solid and the art is just beautiful!

Subtitle of this series should be, 'Miles gets a big GREEN therapist'...

This volume has Miles realizing that he's gone past the point that journals are a adequate stress reliever. His spider sense is going crazy all the time. Neighbors set it off when they walk their dogs for Pete's sake. Starling convinces him to get someone to talk to about the superheroics.

Also?
- Beyond Corp. shenanigans (featuring Hobgoblin) with that memory device used on Chasm
- Blade stops by with daughter (Brielle / 'Bloodline') and they fight energy vampires with Miles
- Blade magiks a Blade-style vampire hunting outfit for Miles (think a duster with knickknacks)
- Hightail (yes, a speedster name) runs around town looking for Miles

Bonus: They REALLY want you to read 'Gang War'

This was…fine. Definitely a swing in the right direction from Carnage Reigns but also just sort of inconsequential. The biggest thing here is that Miles is now seeking mental health support to cope with his spider sense being always permanently on high alert (kid clearly has PTSD and it’s causing him to exist in a permanent state of constant panic and fight-or-flight). That element is compelling, but I feel like it gets quickly backgrounded to allow vampires and Blade to show up for a few issues. The stuff with Hobgoblin also felt tedious and didn’t really bring the readers anywhere interesting. Seeing the reviews for Gang Wars has me also worried about where this goes from here…and if I’ll fall off Miles for a bit this year…

Skipping over Carnage Reigns (a wise choice), the second volume of Miles' current adventures pits him against a brain addled Hobgoblin and some vampires, for better or worse.

There are hints at a larger story going on here, which I appreciate, but I really get the feeling that Cody Ziglar would rather write about his new favourite characters the Scorpion and Hightail instead, since they keep getting shoehorned into stories and taking over proceedings, leaving Miles to pick up the pieces. And because the book's main character doesn't have enough space already, Blade and Bloodline also show up.

Overly crowded and not as much fun as it should be. Disappointing.

I like the way Ziglar writes Miles in general, especially the dialog. A lot of this volume concentrates on Miles's mental health, something that often gets ignored with superheroes. He has experiences that are pretty similar to panic attacks or PTSD episodes, he tries journaling, he talks to friends, and eventually, he gets a therapist. It's a great model of how to approach a mental health episode, especially when his one therapy appointment in this book basically concentrates on simple mindfulness exercises. I was less happy with the Blade crossover. I didn't hate it, it just felt like a bit of a digression from Miles's own story.

Eh, not great. The story is OK. The art is subpar. It starts off with a two-parter with Hobgoblin that's really bland. Meanwhile, Miles is struggling with some anxiety after everything that's happened to him lately. This Hightail character keeps popping up and making a nuisance of herself. She's kind of annoying. Then we get to two terrible issues with Blade and Bloodline. Miles gets this stupid new costume for hunting vampires that looks ridiculous. You'd think Marvel is making toys from it or something with how blatant it is. The issues are terrible.

Miles has always been very lucky to have beautiful art in all of his runs!

While the first few issues of this volume are peak in both its art and story dwelling and direction for Miles (love the anxiety arc here!), the rest of this volume takes some notable dips.

Miles does get a new look that is rad along with his teaming up with Blade and Brielle! But as someone who always enjoys Blade, I was disappointed with how those issues dragged. No emotional weight and rarely anything of note happening in the Shonen like fight.

A good volume of Miles facing different enemies throughout, from Hobgoblin to Hightail and the Cape Killers (the police using super-powered baddies to capture vigilante superheroes) to actual vampires. Miles partners up with Blade and his daughter to stop an ancient and powerful vampire from taking control of thousands of New Yorkers. Miles also starts therapy to help process his trauma and fix his spider sense.

Not a great second volume.

There's a Hobgoblin two parter at the start that's fun because it tries to restore some of the mystery of the Hobgoblin (and in fact does so) and we also get lots of Miles' supporting cast.

There's a Miles-in-therapy issue which is a bit bad, mainly because Doc Samson talks like a cliche and the whole "therapy session" is basically: learn to breathe.

Then there's a Blade team-up against vampires which is entirely boring.

Not really a fan of this street-wise version of Miles. What happened to the gifted student from a New York City magnet school? A couple of rather unfocused stories revolving around Hobgoblin, followed by a couple of rather unfocused stories with Blade and daughter (?) Bloodline. The art throughout is kind of a mess, frenetic and sloppy and hard to follow.

Like Ziglar usually, but the fight scenes are overdone with the new powers. Artwork was fresh though.
